14 December 2017

Kelly bring mince pies into the café
Kelly brings in some mince pies from the café kitchen, and tells Gwen that the sandwiches are in the fridge;
She tries to ignore Ed
as Ed is standing at the counter, she tries to beat a hasty retreat, but he says he has tried to phone her a couple of times.   Her excuse is that she has been really busy.
"Are they mince pies?"
Gwyneth arrives at the counter and asks, “Are they mince pies?”
"No, Easter eggs!"
Kelly replies that they are Easter eggs.   “I’ll have two please, and a coffee to take away – something to keep me going in court later on.”
"You remember Sioned is being sentenced today?"
Then she turns to Ed;  “You remember Sioned is being sentenced today, don’t you?”
Ed looks supremely disinterested, but Gwyneth goes on, “You can have a lift with me if you like – Sioned would love to see you!”
Eileen looks scathingly at Gwyneth
Eileen has just come in, and Gwyneth tells her, “Everyone else has turned their back on Sioned.”
Kelly comments that it is exactly what she deserves,
"Can I give you a lift?"
and when Gwyneth asks Eileen if she wants a lift, shouts, “Shut up, Gwyneth!”
"I'll give Sioned your regards"
Gwyneth will give Sioned her regards.
"OK if I go now, Gwen?"
Kelly has a lot of things to do, so leaves Gwen in charge of the café.
Then Eileen reveals that she and Jim are also going to court.
Kelly explains to Eileen that she is organising
Tyler arrives, with a couple of designs for posters, and Kelly explains she is organising a Christmas procession.   Eileen volunteers Jim to be Father Christmas,
"I could do it!"
and Ed says that he is free, but Kelly dismisses him;  “You’re too young, and Jim’s more chunky!   Jim would be great – thanks, Eileen.”
"Well, I am rather busy, Kel"
Kelly wants to go and see Tyler;  she just needs to go home to get the folder, and will not keep him long.
Arwen is about to go for her operation
In the hospital, Arwen is about to be taken to the operating theatre;
"You're just going to sleep"
Ffion assures her, “Mam loves you, and there’s no need to worry – you’re just going to sleep,
"I'll be here when you wake up"
“and I will be here when you wake up, I promise.”   She is in tears as Arwen is wheeled away,
Ffion pushes Gethin away
but rejects Gethin;  “Don’t suffocate me, please!”
"Where have you put my folder, Auntie Anita?"
Kelly is rather disturbed that Anita has moved her folder, which contain the plans for the procession.
"Better than spending Christmas with a Grinch like you!"
“It will be a laugh – better than spending Christmas with a Grinch like you, anyway!”
"Everyone seems well up for it"
Anita is just worried that no-one will turn up on the day, but Kelly insists, “Everyone seems well up for it, and Jim is going to be Father Christmas – well, that’s what Eileen said.”
Anita worries about Eileen, as Sioned is being sentenced today;  “Don’t know, don’t care,” is Kelly’s reply,
Anita is thinking of flying to Canada
then she notices the website that Anita is looking at.
This does not go down well with Kelly
“Flights to Canada?”   Anita thinks it would be nice to go and see them over Christmas, and play with the children in the snow.
"No way– I need you here!"
“No way – I need you here!” stipulates Kelly, “For the procession – we’ve got loads to organise.   Serious now – you can’t go anywhere, OK?”   She hurries off to number 7.
"Keep an eye out for Kelly"
Tyler asks Iolo to keep an eye out for Kelly, as he does not want her waking Greta;  “She’s trying to avoid Ed, I think.   He was in the cafe earlier – Sioned is being sentenced today.”
"I thought they'd be back together by now"
Iolo thought that they would have been back together by now;  “Not after the way she treated him today,” Tyler informs him, “She was acting really odd.”
"Here she comes now"
Iolo concludes that they should knock some sense into both of them.
"Don't babies make a lot of mess?"
Kelly comes in, and comments that babies make so much mess;
"How was Ed today?"
Iolo enquires, “How was Ed today?” and and she says she has no idea.   “Tyler said he was in the café, and it must be a big day for him with Sioned in court.”
She insists that she does not care, and it is Ed’s problem.
"I'm focusing on the procession"
“I’m serious – I’m focusing on the procession now, right?   Which poster do you think is best?
"I've brought some sandwiches"
Gethin has brought sandwiches, but Ffion is not interested, and when he suggests a massage, she responds, “I’d be in even more pain then – you’re all fingers and thumbs!”
"I'm only good for fixing cars"
He presumes that he is only good for fixing cars,
"Sorry, Geth"
and then she apologises, explaining she feels that the place is closing in around her.
"It's only natural to be worried"
He assures her that it is only natural that she is worried about Arwen;  “We just have to trust the specialists,” she sighs.   When he tries to hug her, she pulls away,
"I'm going to get some fresh air"
saying that she cannot sit still, and is going outside for some fresh air.
"Are you coming to sing carols?"
“Are you, Tyler and Greta coming to sing carols after the procession?” Kelly asks Iolo, and he says they will be there.
"Look over there, Kel"
Then he points out Ed,
Ed looks very downcast
who is sitting, looking depressed, on the bench near the Christmas tree.   Kelly ignores this, and continues, “It will be a real laugh – all I have to do is find a sledge for Santa.”
Iolo instructs her, “Talk to him!   Sioned is not with him any more, Kel.”
They are back from the sentencing
Then they see Eileen and Jim talking to Ed, and Gwyneth storms up, assuming he must be delighted that Sioned got such a harsh sentence.
"She'll only be locked up for three months"
Eileen points out that Sioned got six months, but she will only be locked up for three.
"That's nowhere near enough!"
He roars, “That’s nowhere near enough!” but Eileen says that was the longest sentence he could give, and it will be on her record for ever.   Everyone will know what she did to Ed.   As they leave, Jim congratulates him on winning;  “It doesn’t feel like that!” snarls Ed.
"She'll be back before you turn around"
“Yes, I suppose you can feel a little bit disappointed,” gloats Gwyneth, “Sioned will be back before you turn around – three months is nothing,
"People will know how much of a wimp you've been"
“and people will always know how much of a wimp you’ve been.”
Ed calls to Kelly . . .
He sees Kelly and Iolo watching this, and calls to her;
. . . but, after a glance, she walks away . . .
she simply turns and walks away.
. . . to number 10, but soon has a visitor
Kelly retires to the sanctuary of number 10, but then there is a knock on the door, and Ed demands to be let in.
"After everything she did – it's not enough!"
“Six months is all she got, Kel, and she’ll be out in three!   After everything she did – it’s not enough!”
"I really don't care any more!"
She replies that she does not care any more, and thought that he had moved on.
"Why are you being like this, Kelly?"
He is shocked that she is being like this, but she squeals, “I’ve done everything possible to help you, but I have a life too.”   Ed is panicking that Sioned will be back in ninety days, and will be waltzing around;
"I can't handle it without you!"
he pleads that he cannot handle it without Kelly.
"I can't be close to you – I love you!"
“I can’t do it – I can’t be close to you, Ed!   I love you!” she screams,
"I was heartbroken last week!"
“I was heartbroken last week, seeing you with your new mates!   Playing darts and laughing with that girl!”   He is devastated, and says that nothing happened – nothing was going to happen, because he was not interested.
"Being a friend is not enough!"
“You’ve made it totally clear how you feel – you see me as a friend, and it’s not enough!” she tells him, “One day, you’ll fall in love with someone, and I won’t be able to handle it – because
"I want more than your poxy friendship!"
“I’ll always want more than your poxy friendship!”
Trying to wipe away her tears, she tells him to leave, and he miserably does so.
"Do you want to go to the café instead?"
When they come into the Deri, Jim asks Eileen if she wants to go somewhere else, as Gwyneth is at the bar;  Eileen insists she will simply ignore Gwyneth,
Gwyneth starts stirring again
who wastes no time in asking if they have come to celebrate, and offers to share her bottle of wine with them.
"I can take a selfie of us"
“I can take a selfie of us, toasting Sioned,” she goes on, but Eileen asks her what she is celebrating, as she wanted Sioned to be released.   “I’m celebrating because I’ve seen her – and she looked good, didn’t she?”
Eileen points out that they have come here for a quiet lunch and would appreciate some peace.
"How long have you been such good friends?"
Jim enquires how long Gwyneth and Sioned have been such good friends,
"We're more than friends, Jim"
and she replies, “We’re more than friends, Jim,” which makes him feel rather uncomfortable.
He goes across to Eileen, wondering, “What is wrong with her?   She was suggesting that she and Sioned were more than friends.”
"Take no notice – she's winding you up"
Eileen presumes she is winding Jim up, and feels as if people are looking at her.
“What will people say?   Three months isn’t much punishment,” she says, but Jim is more concerned about what people will say about Sioned and Gwyneth.
"What if they're . . . lesbians?"
“What if they’re . . . lesbians?   Has Sioned turned in jail?   It can happen – I saw a programme about it.”   He is warned not to believe everything he sees on television;  Eileen does not believe that Sioned would dream of having a relationship with a woman.
"Well, that's what Gwyneth thinks"
He points out that is what Gwyneth thinks.
"She's playing a game with Gwyneth"
“Sioned is playing a game with Gwyneth,” answers Eileen, “Like she has played a game with everyone throughout her life – believe me, Gwyneth has met her match here!”
Now it is Kelly's turn to look at the flight website
Anita asks if Kelly has heard about Sioned, but she is more interested in flight to Canada;  “I’m coming with you,” says Kelly, “I can’t stay here – I can’t cope any more!   I just need a break – have you booked it, or what?”   Anita replies that she was told she was not allowed to go.
"There's a flight here to Winnipeg"
“So there’s a flight here to Winnipeg on the 23rd,” Kelly continues, but Anita protests that she has made plans for the procession.   “Stuff it, I’m booking this!” says Kelly,
Anita puts a stop to this
but Anita closes the laptop.
“Stop and tell me what’s happened.   Has Sioned’s sentence upset you?   Whatever it is, running away is not the answer.”   Kelly maintains that it sounds ideal, getting away from this hole.
"What's changed since this morning?"
“What’s changed since this morning?” Anita enquires, “Everyone I’ve spoken to is excited about it, and you’ve enjoyed organising it.   After all, no-one asked you to do this.”
"I thought I'd feel less lonely"
Kelly admits, “I thought if I threw myself into organising something like this, I’d feel less lonely.   I’m lost – I don’t know what I’m doing with my life.
"I was supposed to be pregnant now"
“I was supposed to be pregnant now with Iolo’s and Tyler’s baby – but they’ve got Greta,
"I don't have anyone!"
“and I don’t have anyone!”
Anita protests that she has lots of friends;
"I've lost my best friend"
“But I’ve lost my best friend!   What am I going to do it without him?”
Ed remembers happier times
Ed is sitting on the stairs at Y Felin, looking at photos of himself and Kelly on his phone, when Iolo arrives;  Ed reports that his father is out somewhere.
"Did you go after Kelly?"
“It’s you I want to talk to,” says Iolo, “I heard about Sioned, and I saw what happened with Kelly earlier.   Did you go after her?”
"She doesn't want to know me"
Ed reports that she does not want to know him any more, and that he has ruined everything.
"She's head over heels in love with you!"
Iolo informs him, “She’s head over heels in love with you – you used to be so close, and Kelly is a lovely girl, even if she can be a little wacky sometimes.   You’re perfect for each other.   Why don’t you feel the same?”
"I do feel the same!"
Ed confesses, “I do feel the same!”   Iolo cannot understand why he has not told her, but the answer is, “It’s too much of a risk – look at me, I’m a mess.   I’ve put Kelly through so much already – if things went wrong . . .   I’m still married to the woman who abused me for months!   I cry about nothing – I’m living on my nerves – I’ve got nothing to offer her!”
"What about love?"
“What about love?” suggests Iolo, but Ed decides that this is what Kelly wants, and for her sake he has to respect that.   However, he does not know what he is going to do without her.
"I love him so much that it hurts!"
Meanwhile, Kelly insists, “I’m pathetic!   I love him so much that it hurts!”
"Asking him to move out was a bad decision"
Anita reminds her that they asked Ed to move out because she could not handle seeing him, and concludes that was not the right thing to have done.
“You’re giving up on him, and there is no chance of you being together – but how do you know? “Maybe he just needs time – he’s been through a lot.”
"It would have happened by now"
Kelly is adamant that if anything was going to happen between them,  it would have done so by now.   “He obviously doesn’t feel the same way.   I just have to forget about him, for my own sanity.   I have to – or I’ll end up organising everything in the blinkin’ village!”
“So you’re going to carry on with the procession, are you?” asks Anita,
"Don't go to Canada!"
and Kelly begs her not to go to Canada, as she is needed here.   “No, we’ll have a Christmas to remember here, won’t we?”
Hours have passed . . .
Gethin and Ffion sit silently, and cannot believe how much time has passed;
. . . and the waiting is unbearable
“This is unbearable,” says Ffion, and then her mobile phone sounds.   Hywel has sent a message;
"Hywel is thinking of us"
“He is thinking of us.”
"Us – or you?"
“Us – or you?” asks Gethin;  Ffion gets up and grumpily tells him there is not much point in him hanging around.
"Why don't you go home?"
“Why don’t you go home, and I’ll phone you later?”
"I'm not going anywhere, Ffion!"
He insists that he is staying.
Here comes trouble
Then they hear a familiar voice, telling a nurse he is here for Arwen Llywelyn.
"What are you doing here?"
Ffion demands what he is doing here, and Gethin tells him to go away.
"I've come to see my little girl . . ."
“No,” says Macs, “I’ve come to see my little girl,
". . . and you two can't stop me!"
“and you two can’t stop me!”
