“You’ve got this wrong!” shouts Kelly, as she moves between Ed and the sergeant, “Sioned’s been hitting him – tell them, Ed!” Ed does not say a word, and DS Davies warns Kelly that if she does not move she will be charged with obstruction.

| "Please, Ed, just tell them the truth!" |
Ed is taken away, with Kelly shouting, “Please, Ed, just tell them the truth!”

| "You've done the right thing, Sioned!" |
Meanwhile, Eileen assures Sioned that she has done the right thing; “You can’t let him hit you like that!” and Jim calls it unforgivable.

| "I never thought he'd do that again" |
Sioned wails that she thought he would never do that again, and Eileen is relieved that something has now been done about it.

| "I'm going for a walk" |
Jim promises that she will be safe there, and then goes out for a walk.

| "He's locked up now" |
“We’ve all had a shock, but Ed is locked up now – you’ll never have to see him again!” Eileen consoles Sioned.
At Bryntirion, Dai moans that the place is getting more like a doss-house every day,

and Diane tells him to stop sulking.

| "I'm not sulking – I'm angry!" |
“I’m not sulking – I’m angry that my wife disappeared to the other side of the world – and now she’s going to do it again!” he roars.

| "I'm only considering it" |
She points out that she is only considering going to Australia when Hannah goes back – and that does not mean she will be staying.
“There’s no telling, is there?” Dai responds,

“What you say and what you do these days are completely different!” He takes his coat and storms out.

| Ed's interview begins |
DS Davies turns on the recorder in the interview room; “Mr Charles, where were you this afternoon?” she asks, and Ed says he was at home. “There is an accusation that you argued, that you lost your temper and hit your wife.”

| "Er . . . no . . . I don't know" |
Ed first denies this, then says he does not know.

| "Your wife is accusing you of domestic abuse" |
The DS goes on, “You are a very violent person, and your wife is accusing you of domestic abuse.”

| "Oh – is that all?" |
“Oh – is that all?” blurts out Ed, but the DS insists that it is a serious offence; “It’s a bit of a shock, that’s all!” he says, and the detective asks if he is surprised that she was brave enough to tell the truth.

| Kath looks at some photos |
At Maes-y-Deri, Kath looks at photos of her and Dai on her phone. Mark is going to the shop and asks if she wants to come;

| "You haven't moved all day" |
“You’ve not moved from there all day. Have you heard from Dai since Diane came home?” She replies that she does not expect to, as they were only keeping each other company while Diane was away, and stresses that Dai was very supportive.

Kath adds, “Diane was not there and I felt sorry for him – do you really think I’d miss Dai Scaffalde?

Eileen leaves a message for Jim, and advises Sioned that he needs to be alone when he is upset; “I’ve got a fair idea of where he is.”

Sioned tells her mother she should be with him,

| "My place is with you" |
but Eileen insists that her place is with her daughter.

| "I'm not going to let Ed make me a victim!" |
“I’ll be fine – he can’t touch me now!” Sioned emphasises, “Jim might need you – I’m not going to let Ed make me a victim, I’m determined about that!” Eileen decides that she will go,

then Sioned makes a phone call; “DS Davies, please – it’s important – about Ed Charles!”

| "Anything else you'd like to confess?" |
The DS tells Ed, “You don’t seem too concerned about this accusation, which is strange, considering the seriousness of the charge – is there something else you would like to confess?” Ed remains silent,

| "Your sentence will be reduced" |
so the DS continues, “If you confess to any crime while in this station, your sentence will be reduced.”

| "Sioned Charles? Is it important?" |
Then her phone rings, and she is angry to be interrupted during an interview; “Sioned Charles? Is it important?”

| "I'll get the truth out of you sooner or later" |
She gets up, and as she leaves, warns Ed, “You may as well confess now, because I’ll get the truth out of you sooner or later.”

| He dreads what Sioned is going to tell them |
Ed is very frightened.

| "I want a solicitor!" |
Not many minutes later, DS Davies is back, and Ed bursts out, “I want a solicitor!” He is dumbfounded when told that he is free to go, as Sioned has withdrawn the allegation.

| "I'll be keeping my beady eye on you!" |
“But don’t think you have got away with it,” the DS warns him, “I’ll be keeping my beady eye on you from now on!”

| "Thanks for looking after Dai" |
Diane visits Maes-y-Deri to thank Kath for looking after Dai in her absence, adding “I know Dai is not always good company!”

| "Did you enjoy Australia?" |
When Kath enquires if she enjoyed Australia,

| "I regret coming back sometimes" |
Diane recalls, “It was a different life – blue sky and warm sunshine – I regret coming back sometimes. Dai is not very happy about Hannah coming back –

“he has been in a foul mood ever since I got home. Anyone would think I had been away a year, the way he’s sulking!”
Kath points out that he was very worried about her, fearing that something terrible has happened to her, and Diane explains that she was not thinking straight.

and all of a sudden, Diane seems in a hurry to leave. “Just give him a chance, Diane!” pleads Kath.

As expected, Eileen finds Jim at his lock-up, where he is clearing the place; “It feels like the right thing to do – I can’t keep it for ever. Courtney wouldn’t want that –

“and with everything else that’s going on, you and Sioned need me. I can’t be there for you if I’m stuck in the past, can I? This has been a comfort to me, mind, seeing her things again and feeling she’s still here – but it’s not things that make memories, is it? People do that, and you and Sioned are my family now –

The next visitor to Maes-y-Deri is Dai, who has come to say sorry about the rugby; “It was not your fault,” replies Kath,

“You weren’t to know that Diane would land back here.” Dai is still angry that she left without a word and returned without a word, maintaining it shows a lack of respect.

| "Diane doesn't care about me!" |
“I regret not going to Scotland now – forget Diane, she doesn’t care about me!” he complains, but Kath does not think that is true. “The only reason she came back was because Hannah wanted to leave Australia – she’s prancing about as though nothing has happened,” he adds.

Kath suggests that is because it is easier than admitting she was in the wrong, and urges him not to be too hard on her. Dai asks if there is any chance of a cup of tea, and she invites him to have a cheese and onion toastie;

Eileen leaves him alone; he looks at a photo of Courtney and Ricky and says, “We’re mates again, now – and I’m glad of that.” Putting the photo in his pocket,

he goes on, “Well, there we are, love – bye now.” He picks up two bags,

turns off the lights, and leaves.

In the café, Sioned chides Ed, “You haven’t touched your tea – it will be cold!” and she shouts to Kelly for more hot water.

“Don’t you want to know why I dropped the charge?” she enquires, “It was worth going to the police to see you squirm!”
She takes his hand as she continues, “I won’t tell them anything else – if you toe the line! Anyway, any punishment dished out by the court would be nothing, compared with what I can do!”

and Sioned quite deliberately forces Ed’s hand against it. Then she calmly instructs him, “I fancy a cake – go and get one for me – now!”

At the counter, Kelly demands, “What’s going on? Why didn’t you tell the cops?” but Ed tells her to be quiet or she will make it worse.

Eileen enters and is angry to see Ed there; Sioned explains that the police let him go, as they do not think he is a risk. “I withdrew the accusation,” she calmly tells her mother.

Dai and Kath are playing poker, which Kath wins,

and Dai exclaims, “Your poker face is far too good – we would have had a lot of fun in Scotland!

“I was looking forward to showing you my favourite pub – just off Princes Street, by Waverley Station. Right I’d better go – I’m sure you’re fed up with me grumbling.”
As Dai is going,

Mark returns home, and comments, “He obviously can’t keep away!”

Then he sees that Kath is crying.
“I miss his company – I didn’t realise it until now –

“but don’t tell anyone, mind!” she says,

| "I want them to be happy" |
“Dai and Diane are my friends and I want them to be happy – but it’s hard!”

| "You can't go back to Ed!" |
Back in the café, Eileen is still begging Sioned not to go back to Ed, warning that he will never change.

Sioned, however, decides that she will give him another chance. This is all too much for Kelly, who comes over;

“I’ve had a gut-full of these lies! Do you know what she’s been doing?”
Eileen insists that Ed has been hitting Sioned, but Kelly snarls, “That’s not what I saw!”

Ed pleads with Kelly to stop and just go away,

| Jim is amazed the charges have been dropped |
and as Jim comes in, Sioned explains that she has dropped the charges.

| Eileen says Ed has threatened her . . . |
Then Eileen concludes that Ed has forced her to drop the charges, and threatened her. Jim urges her to come and live with them, so she will be safe.

| . . . but Sioned is quite resolute |
Sioned will not change her mind, so Eileen issues an ultimatum; “If you go back to him, I’m washing my hands of you!” but still Sioned is unmoved.

Jim confronts Ed and threatens him, “If Sioned was not standing here, I’d break every bone in your body! You lay a finger on her again, I’ll kill you!”
