Dani is thoughtfully considering Courtney’s coat when she receives a text from Jim;

| She is summoned by Jim |
“Want to talk. Can you come over to our place?” She picks up the coat, which she has put in a bag, and goes.

| "It's nine – time you were at APD" |
Dai is in no hurry to go to APD, and tells DJ, “There’s no need to tidy up here – there’s no-one to nag us.

| "I'm better off without her!" |
“I’m not chasing after her – I’m better off without her!”

| "Well, I'm going to work" |
DJ leaves for Awyr Iach.

| Dani arrives at the lock-up |
Dani arrives at ‘Courtney’s Room’, where Jim now has all the necessary equipment to make a cup of tea.

| "This is not 'our place'" |
“You do realise that this is not ‘our place’, don’t you?” she tells him, “It’s not ‘your place’ either – you have a life out there, with friends and family. Have you talked to Eileen?”

| "I want you to have it, Dani!" |
She gives back the coat, but Jim is most insistent that she keeps it; “You said I have to start letting go of things – I’m trying to do that! The only thing now is to face the inquest –

| "Will you come to the inquest with me?" |
“will you come with me?”

| "It's not my place to be there" |
Dani is not sure about this, but he says that Eileen will be there, only out of duty, but he would be happier if Dani were there. “I’m not sure that it is my place to be there,” she answers.

| "What if they say it was my fault?" |
He is dreading all the questions and having to go over it all again; “What if they say it was my fault? I was in the car beside her! I’d feel much stronger if you were there.”

| "All right, Jim!" |
Dani reluctantly agrees, and hurries off.

| "It was quiet until you walked in" |
DJ enters APD, remarking that it is very quiet in there; “It was until you walked in,” grumbles Dai.

| "Hands off – they're for Kath!" |
DJ notices a cake box on the counter, and is told that the contents are for Kath; “She’s coming over to help me price up the stock – to be honest, I don’t need the help, “but I asked her as she’s at such a low ebb – a bit lonely. The day can seem long when you’re on your own.”

| "It doesn't look as if she's coming" |
DJ points out that it is midday already, so he cannot see her coming, and looks into the box. “OK, help yourself – and I’ll check that Kath is all right.

“I won’t be long – don’t eat them all at once

| DJ is unconcerned about indigestion |
“or you’ll get indigestion!”

| "I was at the salon" |
When Dani arrives back at the Deri, Garry demands where she has been; she tells him she was at the salon.

| "Sheryl hasn't seen you all day!" |
“No you weren’t! I’ve been there, and Sheryl hasn’t seen you all day!” he growls. Then his eye lights upon the bag she is carrying; “What have you bought now?”

| He pulls Courtney's coat out of the bag . . . |
He makes a grab for the bag and pulls out the coat;

| . . . and her driving licence falls to the floor |
a provisional driving licence falls from a pocket on to the floor. Dani explains, “Jim gave the coat to me, to say thank you.

| "Jim wanted to talk to someone" |
“He was upset about Courtney, and wanted to talk to someone.”
Garry insists that is Eileen’s job, and that it is not right for Dani to wear a dead person’s coat.

| "You can't take Courtney's place" |
“You can’t take Courtney’s place for him,” he says. Dani does not expect him to understand.
Kath is watching television when there is a knock on the door and Dai comes in;

| "You said you were coming to APD" |
he reminds her she said she was coming to APD this morning,

| "That was only to get Mark off my back!" |
but she replies, “I only said that to get Mark off my back! He was going to have a day off to look after me!”

| "Why didn't you phone, then?" |
Dai complains that she did not ring to say she was not coming,

| "You're worse than Mark!" |
and she groans, “You’re worse than Mark! How many more times? I don’t need babysitters.” Dai warns that it is better to be busy, so as to avoid being tempted. “I’m not surprised that Diane’s gone, if you nagged her like this all the time!” snarls Kath. At this, Dai walks out.

Garry takes the coat to the shop’s back door and hands it back to Jim;

| "It wouldn't be right" |
“Dani can’t take it – it wouldn’t be right, but she didn’t want to tell you – she’s too soft,” he says.

Jim replies that he wanted to thank her, but does not want to make things difficult for her.

| Gwyneth is looking for Gwern's reading book |
When Garry has managed to hobble back up to the Deri flat, he has a visit from Gwyneth, who is looking for Gwern’s reading book.

| "I want to take him for a fitting" |
She also asks, “Can Gwern come to me on Saturday? I want to take him for a fitting of his wedding outfit.”
“The wedding’s still on then?” Garry queries, “You still have time to change your mind.” Gwyneth demands why she would want to do that,

| "Why – Siôn White!" |
and he simply replies, “Siôn White! He used to drive Britt up the wall!”

| "I can deal with Siôn!" |
Gwyneth is confident that she can deal with Siôn, but reveals that Iolo is the one making her life difficult, telling his father not to marry her.

| "In a few weeks, I'll be Mrs Siôn White!" |
“But in a few weeks, I’ll be Mrs Siôn White – and there’s nothing he can do about it!” she boasts.

DJ meets Kath in the street, telling her that Dai has been expecting her at APD, as he has been feeling lonely. “You’ve seen how down in the dumps he is since Diane left –

Garry remarks to Gwyneth, “You’ve fallen on your feet for once – mind you, you’re paying a high price, having to live with Siôn White for the rest of your life! Are you sure you’re doing the right thing? I’m concerned for Gwern.”

“I know exactly what I’m doing – I won’t have to live with him for the rest of my life,” she assures Garry,

“I got him to put my name on the house deeds – it wasn’t difficult, as he loves me – and who can blame him? Now I have half of Y Felin whatever happens.”

Garry detects that she is not talking ‘everlasting love’ here, and Gwyneth explains, “Siôn’s a good man –

“he’s got money, and he’s desperate for love. I’m a single mother, and always had to skimp – my priority is to make sure Gwern is all right.”

Garry is not sure that marrying Siôn for his money will be good for Gwern; “I’ve seen how marriage break-ups can affect children – look at Chester!”

Dani comes in, and when told why Gwyneth is there,

goes straight to the shelf and picks up the book in question.
Dai is looking for the tin-opener for his lunchtime tin of soup

when Kath arrives on the doorstep with a meal for two from Cwm Delhi. Initially he is angry with her, as she had said she wanted to be alone,

| She tells Dai what she has brought |
but is gradually worn down by the prospect of samosas and bhajis. Kath explains that she was still angry with Mark, and took it out on him. She starts washing two plates for the meal

| "Looking forward to the wedding?" |
In the Deri, Garry asks Iolo, “Looking forward to the wedding? I hope your father has more luck this time – this is his third marriage!”

| "I thought it was just a midlife crisis" |
Iolo replies that he thought it was just a mid-life crisis, but it seems more serious.

| "He's given Gwyneth half the house!" |
Then Garry drops the bombshell; “Especially now that he has given Gwyneth half the house – but she’s a lot more cunning than Britt!” Iolo cannot believe that his father could be that stupid, but Garry suggests, “You ask him!”

Dani looks behind the bar for Courtney’s coat, and is furious when told

| "I took it back to Jim" |
that Garry returned it to Jim, explaining that she could not accept it, but she was too soft to tell him. “You don’t have time to be Jim’s agony aunt!” he says.

“He is coming to terms with the death of his daughter!” roars Dani, “It’s not just being dumped by a girlfriend!” She gets her coat and storms out of the pub.

At Bryntirion, as they do the washing up, Dai expresses his appreciation of the meal.

“You would have had salmonella if you cooked in this kitchen,” warns Kath, but he insists he can look after himself. “That’s what I tell people,” she agrees, “But I’m just treated like a nuisance –

Dai comments that a lot has changed since she was last here; Kath incredulously lists, “Gwyneth Jones marrying Siôn White? Sheryl and Hywel? Monks running the Deri? Please!” Then she asks if Dai has heard anything from Diane.

He answers, “I thought of phoning – but do I want to hear her arguing, checking up on me, nagging me?” Then after a pause, he adds, “Yes, I do want her doing that –

“what I don’t want is her saying she’s not coming back! I still don’t know why she left – she never said a word.”
Kath reminds him, “We all go through bad patches – look at me! Give her time, and she’ll come to her senses. You’re a very special man, do you know that?

Dani goes to see Jim at home,

where he accepts that Garry is right, and that he should not have hassled her. Dani is very critical of Garry, complaining that he is insensitive,

and she adds, “Listen, I’ll be at the inquest next week – you can rely on me!”

Siôn is looking at his ring when Iolo bursts in

and demands, “Is it true you’ve signed half this place over to Gwyneth? After everything I’ve told you – she’s going to fleece you!”

Siôn points out that she put his name on her house deeds, and it was only right for him to reciprocate.

Iolo reminds him that not long ago Siôn said he would give the house to him and Tyler. “So that’s what’s bothering you,” exclaims Siôn, “I thought you were concerned for my happiness.” Iolo warns him that it demonstrates how far she has twisted his mind to get what she wants.

Gwyneth comes downstairs, and Iolo continues, “The only reason I agreed to be best man was to keep an eye on her!
