Gwyneth is getting worried
Gwyneth returns home from work to get changed for the inquest and unsettled to find Siôn studying the house deeds;  “I’m concerned for the boys,” he says, “Things have got so bad between us, especially Iolo.
"Perhaps we were too hasty"
That agreement we made about Y Felin – perhaps we were too hasty, and didn’t go through the fine details.”
"Why don't we revert to how it used to be?"
Gwyneth argues that they discussed it thoroughly, but Siôn goes on, “But we didn’t consider the implications – why don’t we revert to how it used to be, for now, until the boys come round to the idea?
"What – remove my name from the deeds?"
“Remove my name from the deeds?” demands Gwyneth, and he emphasises that it will only be for the time being,
"And I'll remove mine from number 9's deeds"
and he will also remove his name from the deeds of number 9.   “That will be a lot of trouble and cost!” she exclaims;  however, he maintains it will be worth it if it saves his relationship with his sons.
Gwyneth detects all that money slipping away
Gwyneth, answers, “Have you forgotten about my son?   I’ve had to consider very carefully before marrying you!   It is a huge step for me and Gwern to trust anyone enough to put our future in their hands. I thought you wanted to offer us a stable, secure and comfortable home.”
"I didn't think money meant so much to you!"
Siôn is surprised that money matters so much to her, but she insists that what matters is trust;  “I only came back to get changed – we’ll talk about it tonight – we have a lot to reconsider!”
"I've got so many things to worry about"
Eileen goes to see Sioned, telling her, “I’ve got so many things to worry about, I don’t know where to start – the clinic, the inquest, and Jim!   He’s terrified, so thank goodness he doesn’t know about the appointment tomorrow!”
"One thing at a time, Mam"
Sioned attempts to calm her, advising that they must deal with one thing at a time.   When Ed returns from shopping, Eileen leaves.
"How do you think she is?"
Ed asks Sioned how her mother is;  “How do you think she is?” is the curt reply, “She’s struggling – if they find something tomorrow,
"You have no idea how I feel!"
I don’t know what I’ll do if she’s sick!   You have no idea how I feel,” and she flounces out of the room.
"Right – she's back to normal!"
Ed realises that Sioned is back to normal.
"I don't know if I can cope!"
Dani is attempting to reassure Jim, who just wants it all to be over with;  “I don’t know if I can cope with giving evidence to the coroner!”
"After today, you can move on"
Dani insists that when it is over, he will be able to move on.   He sighs, “Thanks, Dani – you’re a good girl – just like Courtney was.”
Eifion arrives
Eifion comes in and decides to put the kettle on.
"I didn't mean to upset you"
When Gwyneth is ready to leave, Siôn apologises that he did not mean to upset her, and admits that he did not look at the situation from her point of view.   He now suggests that they leave things as they are.   “No – I’ve given it serious thought too,” she replies,
"You change your mind willy nilly!"
“I can’t risk marrying a man who changes his mind willy nilly about important matters!”
Siôn appears perplexed
She walks out, leaving Siôn looking puzzled.
"So you and Vicky understand each other?"
Dani returns to the Deri, and comments to Mathew that she heard that he and Vicky understand each other now.   “Things are getting better – we’re going on a date!” he announces,
"A wise woman of the world"
“I’m glad I listened to you – a wise woman of the world.”   She says that he is making her sound ancient, so he tells her, “I’m just showing respect to an older woman.”
“When you’re in a hole, stop digging!” she advises, adding, “How old do you think I am?”
Mathew evaluates Dani's age . . .
Mathew looks her up and down, commenting that she looks good for her age, and guesses 35 or 36.
. . . and she is not happy with the verdict
“You’re out by eight years!” she rages, and he blames Garry for ageing her, and describes her as ‘classy’.
"You can still change your mind"
Mark is doing up Ricky’s tie, and warns him he can still change his mind.
"I have to be there for Jim!"
Ricky is resolute;  “No, I want to go – I have to be there for Jim!”   Mark is proud of him, wondering how he came to be so mature.   “They’ve invited us to the shop flat for tea afterwards,” adds Ricky.
Mark ponders that he does not know how Jim is feeling, and that there is nothing worse than losing a child.
"That is what has happened to me"
“That’s the point,” Ricky replies, “That’s why I want to go – that is what has happened to me.”
Siôn looks at photos of Iolo, Macs and Huw . . .
Siôn looks through a photograph album, with pictures of his sons
. . . and his first wife, Dr Gwen
and Gwen, his first wife.
He is about to leave the house
He appears to come to a decision, gets up, takes his coat and goes out.
Jim is questioned at the inquest
At the inquest, the coroner is questioning Jim;  “I see that Courtney was wearing flipflops at the time – were you arguing?”
"Just an everyday argument"
Jim replies that it was just an everyday father and daughter argument.   Then the coroner adds, “There is nothing here to suggest that is what caused the accident – are you absolutely sure there was nothing you could have done to prevent the accident?”
"I loved her – she was my daughter!"
“I loved her – she was my daughter!” exclaims Jim, “If there was anything I could have done, I would have done it!”
Ffion is marking some schoolwork when Siôn arrives;
"I don't know where to turn!"
“I need help and I don’t know where to turn!” he tells her.
"Losing a family member is always hard"
The coroner sums up the case;  “Losing a family member is always hard, but coping with an unexplained and accidental death is even worse –
Ricky keeps an eye on Jim
especially when it is a child or young person.   I offer sincere condolences to Courtney’s friends and family.
"Nothing could have been done"
Having carefully considered the evidence, I am certain nothing could have been done to prevent the tragic results.”
"I'm confused"
Ffion assures Siôn that everyone has last-minute doubts before a marriage, but he explains, “I don’t think they’re doubts – I’m confused and my mind is racing.
"Why did you end it with Jinx?"
When you were with Jinx, you had a good relationship – why did it end?   I don’t mean to pry.”
"Jinx was a good friend . . ."
Ffion replies, “Jinx was a good friend – supportive, kind, and a good father to Arwen – and yes, we had fun together!   But at the end of the day, it was a matter of priorities – I settled for Jinx.
". . . but I was not 'in love with' him"
I loved him, but I was not ‘in love with him’.   When it starts going wrong, unless there a deep love, forming an inseparable bond, the relationship crumbles!”
Siôn has found this helpful
Siôn tells her she has been a great help, and leaves.
In the Deri, Tyler asks Dani how the inquest went, and she reports that Jim was really upset.
"Do I look old?"
He comments that she looks tired, and she responds, “Do I look old?”
He turns to Iolo and says, “Dani thinks she looks old!”
"Different – more stylish now"
Iolo maintains that she looks different to how she used to – that she is more stylish now.
“Don’t tell me – classy!” she rages, “How did I used to look?   Cheap?”
Iolo ventures that she was trendy and young,
"Gorgeous – in a forty-ish sort of way!"
and Tyler describes her as, “Gorgeous – in a forty-ish sort of way!”
Dani glowers at him as she pulls his pint;
She threatens him with a pint of beer
“That’s a nice shirt – it would be a shame to spoil it with this pint all down the front!”
"Is everything all right between you and Siôn?"
Ffion is just leaving Cysgod y Glyn when she meets Gwyneth;  “I don’t want to interfere, but is everything all right between you and Siôn?” she asks, “He came to see me earlier, and was confused, with weird questions about what really matters in a relationship, and asking about me and Jinx.”
"You know what Siôn is like!"
Gwyneth points out that Siôn always over-analyses things, and is adamant that everything is fine between them, but she does look rather concerned.
"There's nothing you could have done, Jim"
In the shop flat, Ricky tells Jim, “There’s nothing you could have done differently – what matters now is that you move on – it’s what Courtney would have wanted.”
"Yes, you're right, boy"
Jim agrees, and Ricky, together with Mark and Eifion, leave.
"If anything, I feel worse"
Jim confides to Eileen that he had not realised that today would rake up all the ill-feeling;  “I hoped it would help, but, if anything, I feel worse.”
"Ricky's such a likeable lad"
Then he says, “Who would have thought that Ricky would turn out such a likeable lad?   Life can be cruelly short sometimes!   I’d have never coped with this without you, Eileen,
"I don't know what I'd do without you!"
I don’t know what I’d do without you!”   Eileen assures him that she is not going anywhere.
The emotion is getting to Ricky
Back at Maes-y-Deri, Ricky sits in tears as Mark praises him;  “Poor Jim – it would have been much worse if it wasn’t for you!
"I don't know how you stayed so strong!"
You’ve been so responsible and kind – I don’t know how you’ve stayed so strong!”
"I'm not going to forget her!"
Ricky breaks down;  “It’s terrible, Dad – I’m not going to forget her – I can’t let her go!”
Siôn's phone has been turned off
Gwyneth is anxious when Siôn returns to Y Felin as she has not been able to contact him;  he lies that he has been to see Hywel to arrange the stag party,
"You haven't cancelled the wedding, then?"
and she says, “You haven’t cancelled the wedding, then?”
Gwyneth starts work to retrieve the situation
She continues that she gave him the wrong impression this morning, blaming the inquest;  “Seeing the suffering there today, I realised how lucky I am.
"Y Felin is not important to me – you are!"
Y Felin is not important to me – you are – can’t you see that?   I don’t know what’s been going on the last few days – it’s as if we’ve lost sight of what really matters – love!   You, me and Gwern as a family – that’s what I was trying to say.
Siôn is so gullible these days
I love you so much, Siôn!”
As she had been hoping, Siôn agrees that he loves her too;
"Going to plan, so far"
they kiss, and as they embrace,
"There, what a superb performance!"
she appears even more triumphant.
