2 March 2017

Colin is proud of his photo shoot
In the shop, Colin is showing his photos to Ffion, who remarks, “Not bad.”
"I'm a natural!"
He boasts that he is a natural in front of the camera.
"You did very well in the maths mocks"
When Chester comes in, she praises him for his good marks in the maths mock exams.
"Could I have a couple of friends over?"
Then Chester comes to the point of his visit;  “Could I have a couple of friends over later, to celebrate the end of the mocks?”   When Colin thinks that this sounds like a party, he explains, “No, just a get-together – pizza and a film!”
"As long as they're responsible"
Colin cannot see any reason why not, as long as his friends are responsible.
Dani is feeling the after-effects of the clubbing
Dani is feeling the effects of last night’s clubbing, as she sits on the sofa, but is surprised when Gwyneth walks in
"I'm cooking chicken tonight"
and asks, “Big night, was it?   Don’t worry – I’m cooking tonight.   I shall put the chicken in the oven before I fetch Gwern.”
"What are you doing here?"
Dani demands what she is doing there;
"Didn't Garry tell you?"
“Gwern and I are staying for a few days – didn’t Garry tell you?”
Dani storms downstairs to the bar and Garry explains that she had nowhere else to go.
"She's not staying here!"
“She’s not staying here!   You didn’t ask me!” Dani shrieks,
"I don't want my son in a B&B!"
but he points out that she was not here, and he does not want his son staying in a B&B.
"I want her out today!"
“I want her out today!   Do you hear me!” she adds, and returns upstairs.
"Never a good idea to go behind your wife's back!"
Gethin, who has listened to this exchange, comments to Garry, “That’s why it’s never a good idea to go behind your wife’s back!”
"That group's the best thing I've done!"
Hywel is back from Parents’ and Toddlers’ group, where Esther enjoyed herself;  “It’s a lot of work, but starting that group is the best thing I’ve done – you should have been there!” he tells Sheryl.
"I'm tired, Hywel"
She replies that she is tired, so he assumes she has been hard at work in the salon.
“No, I cancelled all the appointments today,” she replies;
"It might help to go to work"
he suggests that it might help to go to work, but she snaps at him, “You just don’t think – half my hair is falling out – can you help with that?
"Leave me alone!"
Leave me alone!”
Hannah does a spot of eavesdropping
Hannah lurks by the bus stop, and hears Chester inviting one of his mates round tonight;
"We'll get food from the chippy"
“You bring drinks, and we’ll get food from the chippy.”
"Can anyone come?"
When he comes round the corner, she asks if anyone can come, and he flatly tells her, “No!”
"I can go, can't I?"
Nevertheless, Hannah rings Diane and says she has just been invited to someone’s house tonight, just a gang from Ysgol y Mynach;  “They’re really friendly – I can go, can’t I?”
"I'll tidy up later"
Gwyneth is sorting washing when Dani re-enters the flat;  she says she will tidy up later, and does not really want to be there.
"Well, you know where the door is!"
“Well, you know where the door is!” grumbles Dani.
"That's how Garry is!"
“I should be on honeymoon in Spain,” Gwyneth complains, “I’m sorry Garry didn’t tell you, but that’s not my fault – it’s just how Garry is – he does as he likes.   I learned the hard way!”
"I don't need you lecturing me about my husband!"
Dani snarls that she does not want to be lectured about her husband.
"Table for two at six o'clock, please"
In the Deri, Ffion orders a table for six o’clock, and then sees Hywel, looking forlorn.
"Don't get dragged into it, Ffion"
Gethin says he realises she wants to help, but advises her not to get dragged into it;  however she has to go and talk to him.
"Sheryl wasn't at the salon today"
“You must be busy with the Parents’ and Toddlers’ group,” she says, “I noticed that Sheryl was not at the salon today.”
"Can I share something with you?"
Hywel replies, “Can I share something with you – Sheryl wouldn’t be happy that I told you?”
"I already know about the alopecia"
Ffion confesses that she already knows about the alopecia, as Sheryl was upset last week and told her.   “I don’t know what to do – she has lost more hair and is now wearing a scarf – she won’t take it off in front of me,” he laments.
"Shall I have a word with her?"
Ffion volunteers to go and have a word with her, although not promising anything;
"Thanks, Ffion!"
“It might be easier to share with someone not so close,” she says.
"Who knows where this will lead, boys"
In the chippy flat, Colin is droning tediously on at two of Chester’s mates with his modelling experiences, so Chester has to rescue them;
"They're awkward with an old person around"
“I wasn’t expecting you to stay – my friends feel awkward with an old person around,” he explains.   Colin appreciates that they want him out of the way before the girls arrive,
"Yes, I know what it's like – I've been there"
as he has been there himself.   He just warns them to behave themselves, and goes off to the Deri for a couple of hours.
An uninvited guest has arrived . . .
Ricky arrives, with Hannah in tow, much to Chester’s dismay, but Ricky tells him,
. . . bearing a bottle of vodka
“Come on, Chest, she has a bottle of vodka!” which changes his mind.
"Yes, I can get rid of them tonight, no problem"
In the background, Tom is on the phone, assuring someone, “Yes, I can get rid of them tonight, no problem.”
A tablet changes hands . . .
Then he is seen handing a tablet to Ricky,
. . . and is swallowed
who swallows it.
Sheryl at first ignores the knocking
Sheryl sits miserably, trying to ignore the knocking at the door;
"I know you're in there, Sheryl!"
“Sheryl, it’s Ffion!   I know you’re there!” is shouted through the letterbox,
"Quick, before anyone sees!"
so finally Sheryl opens the door.
"You've had a wasted journey"
Sheryl insists that she is fine, so there is no need to Ffion to be there, as she wants to be on her own.
"There was a time when I couldn't face people"
“I know it’s not quite the same, but there was a time when I couldn’t face people,” says Ffion, but Sheryl protests that it is not the same at all, as Ffion was an alcoholic and could do something about it.
“I can’t – and it’s not my fault!” she continues,
"I'm sorry – please don't go!"
and Ffion is about to leave when Sheryl comes to her senses and apologises.   “I don’t know what’s  happening to me – how could I say something so nasty?
"I don't know who I am any more!"
I don’t know who I am any more – I look in the mirror and don’t recognise myself!”
"You're still the same person, Sheryl"
Ffion reassures her that she is the same person, and the scarf does not change anything.   “It changes everything,” wails Sheryl,
"What if he looks for someone else?"
“Hywel can’t bear to look at me – what if he looks for someone else?”   Ffion insists that Hywel loves her and wants to be there for her – but he cannot be if she shuts him out.   She pleads that Sheryl gives him a chance and talks to him.
Ricky is not quite feeling himself
Ricky looks rather peculiar, as Hannah compliments Chester on his cocktails;
"It depends whether you gatecrash!"
“How good’s the social life around here?” she asks, and he replies that it depends whether you gatecrash.   Then she enquires what the school is like, and he simply says that a school is a school.
"You don't talk much, do you?"
“You don’t talk much, do you?” she remarks, as she walks away.
Is Ricky hallucinating, or something?
Ricky looks disbelievingly at his hands.
"Want something to make it more exciting?"
Tom has changed his tune, as he tells Hannah he likes the ring, and is thinking about getting a tattoo of a scorpion.   “Boring, isn’t it?” he asks, “Do you want something to make it more exciting?” and produces some tablets.
"No thanks!"
Hannah shies away, but Chester notices and comes to confront Tom,
"What are they?"
demanding what they are;  Tom calls them, “Harmless – do you want one?”
“No!   Do you think I’m stupid?   Where did you get them?” demands Chester, then realises, “That’s where you got the cash last week!”
"It's just a laugh!"
Tom is adamant that it is just a laugh.   Then someone tells them that Ricky has collapsed.
"I had to go and see Sheryl"
Ffion meets Gethin at the Deri and reports that she had to go and see Sheryl, as Hywel was so desperate;  Gethin tells her she is far too nice.
"Cwmderi's supermodel!"
Colin comes in for a pint, and Gethin describes him as, “Cwmderi’s supermodel!”   Colin offers to show him the portfolio, but Ffion proffers the excuse that their table is now ready.
Garry was under the impression that Colin was looking after Aaron tonight,
"I told him I'd stay out of his way"
but Colin explains he has a sleepover and Catrin is at the cinema.   “Chester has a couple of friends over, so I told him I’d stay out of his way.”
Garry’s phone rings;
"Have you called an ambulance?"
he answers, “Whoa!   Say that again – have you called an ambulance?   I’m on my way over!”   He instructs Colin to accompany him and rushes off,
Dani is there single-handed again, and Colin's pint is undrunk
leaving Dani on her own.
Ricky remains unconscious on the floor
Chester has called for an ambulance and reports that Ricky is still breathing;  it appears that Tom has done a runner.
"What have you been doing?"
Garry and Colin come bursting in and demand what has been going on;
"He might have drunk something"
Chester suggests Ricky might have drunk something,
"Now is not the time for secrets!"
but Garry insists, “Now is not the time for secrets!”
"I've been waiting for a while!"
Dani is trying to cope at the Deri, with one particular disgruntled customer having been waiting for his drink.   Gwyneth comes down, asks where Garry is,
"Pint of lager, was it?"
and then appoints herself barmaid, and serves the troublesome customer.
"It feels as if the person I am has changed"
Esther is now asleep, and Sheryl admits, “I haven’t been the easiest person to live with – I can’t talk about what’s happening to me.   It feels as if the person I am has changed –
"I didn't look like this when you fell in love with me!"
I didn’t look like this when you fell in love with me!”   Hywel is adamant;  “I don’t care if your hair falls out!   I love you, because you’re an amazing woman –
"I want to be with you, no matter what!"
I want to be with you, no matter what!” and he hugs her.
Ricky receives medical attention
As the ambulance crew attend to Ricky,
Garry holds Chester responsible
Garry is convinced that this is Chester’s fault,
"I wouldn't do this to my friend!"
but he protests, “Ricky’s my friend – do you think I’d do something to my friend.
"Maybe it was the other bloke – with the tablets"
Hannah interrupts, “He’s telling the truth – it’s not his fault – maybe it was the other bloke – he had tablets.”
"How will you feel if something awful happens to him?"
Garry is furious, “Someone’s brought drugs into my flat – and you say you didn’t know?   How will you feel if something awful happens to him?   Have you thought of that?   You’d better hope and pray that Ricky is going to be all right!”
