9 March 2017

"Get me some toast from downstairs"
Ed is about to leave the flat for work;  “Before you go, get me some toast from downstairs – there’s no bread,” instructs Sioned;  he replies that he bought some yesterday.
"You keep buying that cheap stuff"
“You keep buying that cheap stuff – how many times have I told you?” she scolds, “You’re bound to see Kelly, and she’ll ask how things are between us, so tell her that we’re fine, and happy!
Dispassionately, Ed listens to his orders
We don’t want her poking her nose in, do we?”
Kath asks Dai, “Have you thought any more about Diane?”   He is adamant that he has not changed his mind,
"Any chance of another sugar?"
and asks if he could have another sugar in his tea, as he needs a boost in the morning.
Mark does not seem keen on his guest
Mark looks askance at him,
"How long is he going to be slobbing on the sofa?"
and asks Kath how long Dai will be slobbing on the sofa, but she says she cannot bring herself to throw him out.
"Hope you're not getting ideas"
“I hope you’re not getting ideas, Mam,” he tells her, “Your job is to make sure he leaves today.”
Kath has worked out a plan
“I’ve thought of something,” she assures him, and he suggests a bomb under Dai’s backside, but she continues, “No, something worse than that!”
Ricky receives bad news
Ricky comes downstairs and receives a text from his friend Ifan;  “Olivia is in hospital.   She took dodgy drugs, like you.”   He hurries out of the house, refusing the toast Mark has made for him.
"I'll have that toast, if it's going spare"
“I’ll have that toast, if it’s going spare,” volunteers Dai,
Dai does not waste food
“I hate to see food wasted!”
"Someone else has taken Chester's pills!"
Gaynor calls at the shop for headache tablets and tells Colin that she has had news from the school that a pupil collapsed last night, after taking one of Chester’s pills.   “She is in a serious condition.
"I was worried this would happen"
I was worried that something like this would happen – let’s hope she pulls through, for Chester’s sake!”
"You need to go after Tom Leonard"
Colin points out that Chester has told him everything, and that it is Tom Leonard she needs to go after, but she scoffs, “You don’t believe Chester’s story, do you?
"Open your eyes, Colin!"
Open your eyes, for goodness’ sake!”
"Why did you have to fetch that for Lady Muck?"
In the café, Kelly hands Ed the toast;  “Why did you have to fetch that for Lady Muck?” she asks.   Ed replies that he does not mind, but Kelly goes on, “She treats you like a lapdog.   You don’t have to pretend with me –
"We're friends, you and me"
we two are friends, and friends tell each other everything.”
"It will be fine from now on"
Ed rather unconvincingly insists that everything is going to be fine from now on.
Sioned is checking up on him again
Sioned comes downstairs and glowers at Kelly;   Ed hands Sioned the plate of toast and leaves for work.
Chester and Hannah are also in the café;  Kelly tells them that as they do not want anything else to eat or drink,
"This is not a Youth Club!"
“Off you go, then – if I remember, there isn’t a Youth Club sign outside the café!”   Chester invites Hannah to his place,
"Better than hanging around this dump!"
and she pointedly comments that it is better than hanging around this dump.
"I shall have to pack my bags and leave!"
Then Chester sees a message on his phone about Olivia, and announces, “I shall have to pack my bags and leave!”
Just what Dai did not want to see
When Diane arrives at Maes-y-Deri, Dai is displeased;  Diane is none too pleased either, having been told that Dai would not be there.
"Just a little white lie"
“Just a little white lie – sorry,” confesses Kath, “Why do you think I didn’t tell you?   Right, you two – you need to sort this out!”
"I've got nothing to say to her"
Both Dai and Diane agree that they have nothing to say to each other, and Dai is intent on going to APD,
"We're talking about your marriage here"
but is stopped by Kath;  “We’re talking about your marriage here – you can’t throw it away – you have too much to lose!   I’m going for a walk while you have a chat – so behave yourselves!”
"You can't just run away!"
Back at the chip shop flat, Hannah protests that Chester cannot just run away,
"What else can I do?"
but he replies, “What else can I do?   I may be able to scrape enough together to get a bus to Cardiff.”   She maintains that will only make him look guilty, but he emphasises that the police will get him for this, whatever he does;
"They'll lock me up!"
“They’ll lock me up – and I can’t do that again!”
"Talk to Ricky again!"
Hannah says he should talk to Ricky again, but he is convinced that it is too late;  “He doesn’t care – everyone is better off without me!”
Hannah is becoming exasperated;  “You’re doing my head in!” she exclaims,
Oh – that was a bit sudden!
“Please – you don’t have to do this,” then on the spur of the moment, kisses him.   She immediately regrets this, and rushes from the flat,
Looks as if Chester thought so, too
while Chester wears a look of stunned amazement.
"It's like banging my head against a wall!"
In the café, while Gwyneth is sitting nearby, Kelly moans to Tyler, “It’s like banging my head against a wall!   I can’t help Ed if he won’t talk to me, but she’s always watching him and keeping him in line.”
"You should stay out of it"
Tyler’s reply is that they have done all they can, and that she should stay out of it.
"I can't do that!"
“I can’t do that!” she insists, and then, when there is a delivery to put away,
"Where did I put those keys?"
finds that she has mislaid the keys.
Silence in Maes-y-Deri
At Maes-y-Deri, Dai and Diane remain in silence
"If you're not going to say anything . . ."
until Diane comments, “If you’re not going to say anything, there’s not much point!”
"I didn't ask you to come"
Dai snorts that he did not ask her to come, and either they sit here sulking in silence or try to come to some sort of understanding;
"You can't admit when you're wrong!"
“Your problem is you can’t admit when you’re wrong – this is all your fault!”   Diane protests that she was at the end of her tether long before she went away.
"Why did you go away?"
“What I want to know – need to know – is why you went away,” he continues,
"I was worried about Jason's and Sara's future
and she says that she was worried about Jason’s and Sara’s future.   “So what I said yesterday is true, then,” Dai answers.
"It all got on top of me"
Diane frets that she does not know if she will cope when the baby comes, and fears that she will be no help;  this, coupled with the mess at Awyr Iach, Jim, and the business, makes her feel so worthless.   “It all got on top of me, and I felt I couldn’t cope.   Without realising it, I took it out on you – and ran away.
"I do regret not telling you"
I’m so sorry, Dai!   It did me good, seeing Emma and Hannah, but I do regret not telling you!”
"So you still want to be with me, do you?"
Dai asks, “So you still want to be with me, do you?   I’m telling you straight, I can’t cope with this bickering.”
"Do you still want me?"
Diane assures him that she does want him, but the problem is, does he still want her.   “Well, I still love you, if that’s what you’re asking – I can’t deny that,” he replies.
The long-awaited reconciliation
At last, they hug.
"I haven't told you everything"
At school, Ricky sheepishly enters Gaynor’s office and admits, “I haven’t told you everything about the drugs.   Tom is the one who’s dealing – Chester is telling the truth.”
"How do you know this?"
Gaynor is reluctant to believe him,
"He sold some to me"
but Ricky explains, “He sold them to me on the night of the party – my drink wasn’t spiked.”
Gaynor is furious about this, pointing out how serious this is, and how because he kept quiet,
"She's fighting for her life!"
someone is now fighting for her life in hospital.
Ricky is ashamed of himself
“I had better phone the police – and you can tell them everything this time!” she rages
Sioned pretends to be the doting wife
Sioned brings Ed a drink in the Deri;  she smiles and gives the impression of wedded bliss.   However, when Ed receives a text,
"I don't want you talking to her"
she grabs the phone and sees it is from Kelly;  “From now on I want to know when she contacts you – no, actually I don’t want you talking to her from now on.
"She's jealous of what we have"
She’s jealous of what we have because she’s lonely and sad.”
"Yes, I can be there in half an hour"
Then the phone rings, and this time it is a taxi fare who wants picking up from Swansea;  Ed assures Sioned that he will only be an hour or so, and leaves.
The news is broken to Colin
When Gaynor and Ricky march into the chip shop flat, Colin looks scared, but Gaynor announces that Ricky has now told the truth to the police, and Chester is exonerated.
"I told you so, didn't I?"
Relieved, Colin reminds her that he had told her it was not Chester, then goes to his room to impart the good news.   There he finds a note from Chester,
Chester has 'done a runner'
and groans, “He’s gone – run away!   And I’m supposed to be looking after him!”
Chocolates and flowers for Kath
Dai takes chocolates and flowers to Kath in the Deri;  “If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have sorted ourselves out.   You pushed us back together – it wouldn’t have happened otherwise.   Aree you going to take these, or am I going to look a right fool?”
"Thank you, Kathleen Pearl!"
She grudgingly takes them;  he kisses her, saying , “Thank you, Kathleen Pearl!   I’d better go – Diane and I are going out for a meal!”
Kath ponders on what might have been
Kath sadly watches him go.
"Why don't you come with me?"
Chester slips in through the back door of Bryntirion and invites Hannah to go with him to Cardiff;
"Running away won't solve the problem"
“That’s not a good idea – running away won’t solve the problem, but make it worse,” she replies.
"There's a bus in half an hour"
He says that there is a bus to Llanelli in half an hour, then he can connect with a Cardiff one.
Ricky arrives with the good news
There is a knock on the door, and Ricky comes in with the news that he has admitted everything to the cops, and now they know about Tom, they do not want to talk to Chester any more.
"I should have told the truth from the beginning"
“I should have told the truth from the beginning – I’m so sorry,” Ricky concedes.   Chester breathes a sigh of relief.
There is an intruder in the café . . .
The café is in darkness as a dark figure lets themselves in with a key;  the masked intruder, who appears to be wearing black motorcycling leathers, makes their way up the stairs.
. . . then Sioned comes in
At that moment Sioned also enters the café, and shouts, “Are you there, Ed?”
She heads upstairs, meets the mystery figure, who pushes her though the banisters,
Yes – it is too dark to see anything
and she lands on the floor, after demolishing a table.
The leather-clad figure leaves again
The figure looks at her, then makes a hasty exit.
"What came over me?"
Kath wonders, “What came over me?   Thinking that Dai Ashurst and I could . . .”   Mark tells her that she needs her eyes tested,
"He's a nice man – and kind"
but she goes on, “He’s a nice man – and kind.   He helped me a lot.”
"Lucky you didn't make a move on him"
Mark considers that it is lucky she did not make a move on him, but she insists she would never do that to Diane.   “I knew they’d get back together, and I want them to be happy.
"I'll find someone special one day"
Never mind about me – I’ll find someone special one day – I just have to wait for him.”
"Hang on – this door is supposed to be locked"
Ed returns from his taxi fare, and is surprised that the café door is unlocked;  going inside he sees Sioned’s motionless body, lying amid the wreckage.
"Sioned!   Sioned!"
As he bends over her body,
He hears the door open again
Kelly also comes in and looks aghast;
"Ed!   What have you done?"
“Ed!   What have you done?” she squeals.
