Diane arrives home and shouts for Dai; he replies that he is trying to make himself lunch.

She demands, “When are you going to tidy up this mess? That sleeping bag on the sofa, and all the dirty cups and plates – what if someone called?” Dai asks who she is expecting – Auntie Henrietta from Chicago?

He is then told, “I’m not willing to live in a pigsty, even if you are!”

| Ed is dejected |
Ed sits on the bed, looking miserable,

and Sioned moans, “I thought you were going to change the sheets! You’re in dreamland sometimes, aren’t you?

| "Nothing worse than pillows as flat as pancakes!" |
“Don’t forget to shake the pillows – there’s nothing worse than pillows as flat as pancakes!”

| "I've got to go to work" |
Ed pleads that he has work to do,

| "The sooner you stop complaining . . ." |
so she tells him, “The sooner you stop complaining, the sooner you can get back to work!”

At Awyr Iach, Sara is not happy with the promotional poster; DJ asks if he should put it up by the bus stop.

Jason laughs when he sees it, “Look at the state of him! You’re not putting that up, surely?”

| There is not much choice |
but Sara replies that they do not have much choice.
Diane leaves a message for Hannah, wondering where she is;

Dai moans that she is old enough to look after herself, and wonders why Diane interferes all the time.

“I just wanted to ask her what she wants for dinner,” she explains.

Dai groans, “Lobster Thermidor, Caviare? I’m sure you’d buy them if that is what she wanted.”

| "I can make a fuss of my only grand-daughter" |
She argues that it is only right to make a fuss of her only grand-daughter, so Dai reminds her of the little one on the way;

“Does he or she not count? Your priorities are clear – you won’t talk about the new baby, because he or she won’t be perfect, like Hannah! It’s true – I’ve clearly touched a nerve! The problem is you can’t treat everyone in the family the same.”

“When the baby arrives, I’ll help out, like everyone else!” insists Diane, but Dai maintains she is not interested in anyone but Jason and Hannah.

“You certainly don’t care about me! Life got a lot easier when you weren’t here – of course I was worried, but that’s normal for me. A man will worry about his wife, not knowing if she is alive or dead.

“I’m doing what I should have done ages ago – I’m leaving you!”
When Diane asks where he will go, so he answers, “Mind your own business – you disappeared without saying a word!

Diane shouts at him, “Get lost!” and he replies that it will be a pleasure.

DJ has erected the poster by the bus stop,

but Jason is still sceptical; “Am I missing the joke here? We shall be a laughingstock! If this was the best picture, I don’t want to imagine what the others were like!”
Mark passes on his round and comments, “Colin? What’s wrong with his face?

“Surely you didn’t pay for that – you’ve been conned! I could have done better – I’m quite photogenic, and my fee would be quite reasonable too.”

| The big bad landlord approaches |
Gwyneth approaches and asks Jason and Sara if they have found somewhere to rent;

| "I want you out!" |
“Get a move on – you’ve had your notice, and I want you out. Where you go is not my problem!” Jason assures Sara that he will sort this out.

| Ed has accomplished his housewifely duties |
Ed has made the bed as instructed; Sioned checks the furniture for dust and then pronounces, “Well done – you enjoyed it, didn’t you? You like making me happy, don’t you? As you’ve been so good today, I’m going to give you a prize – anything you like.

Ed replies without any hesitation, “A divorce!”

Sioned is seriously affronted; “I’ve given you everything, and this is how you thank me?

“I’ve supported you, despite everything you’ve done.

| "You treat me like dirt!" |
Ed demands, “What about the things you’ve done to me? You treat me like dirt – worse than dirt! I mean it – I want a divorce!”

| "Well, you're not getting one!" |
She informs him, quite emphatically, that he is not getting one.

| "You're sick up here, Sioned!" |
“The things you do to me – you’re sick up here!” he yells, “You must be sick, because I think you get pleasure out of all this control and pain.”
She orders him to stop talking to her like that, but he is adamant, “I’m going to start the divorce process. How are you going to stop me? We can’t carry on like this!”

She sneers at him, “Oh, poor Ed, married to a witch like me! The truth is you’re lucky to have me – who else would have you? I’ve forgiven you for all that you’ve done – and that’s a lot to ask!” He simply walks out, and in a temper, she flings something across the room.

Dai, carrying a couple of bags, arrives at Maes-y-Deri and enquires of Kath, “Is there any room at the inn? I’ve had it up to here – I can’t do anything right, and all we do is shout and argue. Is there any chance I can have the sofa tonight? I don’t know where else I can turn.”

Kath finds herself in an awkward situation, as she is a friend of both Dai and Diane. She is afraid that one night on the sofa may become a week or a month, and asks if Diane knows that he is here.

“She couldn’t care less, even if she knew,” Dai tells her, “She’s glad to see the back of me! That’s the end - there’s no turning back!”

Sioned, in a terrible rage, returns to the bedroom and sprays tomato ketchup over the clean bedlinen.

Ed sits, dejected, on the bench near the shop;

Gwyneth, who is passing, asks what the problem is, and suggests that talking may help.

“I’ve had enough – and I can’t discuss it with you! Then his phone rings, and he is horrified to see that the call is from Sioned;

Gwyneth urges him to talk to his wife, but he replies, “If only it were as simple as that!”
DJ reports to Sara that people love the poster,

and shows her some selfies that have appeared on CnocCnoc. “There’s no such thing as bad publicity,” he says, “And we’ve had a few new orders,”

but Sara dismisses this as coincidence.
“We’ll have to take it down – that poster could ruin Awyr Iach’s reputation!” she moans, but DJ wants to leave it up and see the result.

Jason has collected some details of houses to rent, but predicts that none of them will suit Sara – merely settling for something is not an option for her.

“What are we going to do? Gwyneth wants us out – do you know of anywhere we could rent? Dai knows everybody.”
Seeing his mother’s miserable expression, he asks what is wrong with her; “Where is Dai? I’ll go and ask him.”

Diane replies, “Dai’s left me – but I’m sure he’ll be back when he comes to his senses – he’s trying to teach me a lesson.”

Jason tells her that is what she is hoping will happen, and that everyone goes through bad patches. He is of the opinion that they are both as bad as each other, and wonders why she is not out looking for him, so the matter can be sorted out.

“He walked out – and I don’t intend to ask him to come back!” is the resolute reply.

Sioned follows Ed through the alley, insisting that she wants him at home with her; “Why? So you can control me again?” he demands.

Sioned wants him to return to the flat, so they can talk.
“No!” he snarls, “What do you want from me? Why won’t you let me go?” She maintains that she wants him to love her the way she loves him.

“You don’t know what love is!” he roars. She says she cannot imagine waking up and not seeing his face, but he stresses, “That is exactly what I would like – you’ve made my life a nightmare!”

Sioned gets out her phone, and remarks, “I should have done this ages ago – if you want a divorce, tell the police what you’ve done.”
She dials a number;

Ed chickens out and rushes back to her, so she cancels the call.

What Sioned does not know is that Gwyneth is approaching through the alley. She hides round the corner to eavesdrop on their conversation,

as Sioned continues her diatribe, “If you really hate me like you say you do, you would have told the police about what you did in Swansea – and what you did to Gwyneth! This is where it happened, isn’t it? But no, you’re a coward – you’re disgusting – no-one in Cwmderi knows, but there’s something seriously wrong with you –

Dai assures Kath, “If Diane was on her knees on the doorstep, begging me to go back, I’d shut the door in her face!” Despite Kath’s insistence that they will get through this, he is convinced, “Too much has been said this time, and I don’t go back on my word!”

“So you’re willing to throw it all away, are you?” demands Kath, “You’re as stubborn as a donkey! You can stay here for one night – on condition that you let Diane know where you are – right?”

He insists that there is no point in talking to Diane, so is told, “Send her a text, then! Just let her know you’re here – and do it now!”

Mark has just come in, and when informed, comments, “It’s like a sardine tin here already!

Sioned hands Ed the bundle of soiled bedding, ordering him, “Put them straight into the wash!” He looks utterly defeated.

Meanwhile, in the Deri flat, Gwyneth sits, as the words she heard go round in her head; “Would you tell the police what you did in Swansea – and what you did to Gwyneth?”

She thinks back to the night of the attack, then hears Sioned’s words, “You deserve to be punished.”
