Vicky's photos of the festival
Vicky is outside the café, looking at the photos on her phone of her weekend at the music festival;
"Looks as if you were having a good time!"
“You look as if you were having a good time,” comments Josh, “But why is he putting up a tent – you were supposed to have a yurt?”   Vicky replies that it does not matter, as they bought a tent there,
"I haven't laughed so much for ages!"
and have not laughed so much for ages.
Mathew is also in a good mood . . .
At that moment, Mathew emerges from the café, and Josh apologises that they had to slum it in a tent.   Mathew has to go to work and suggests that they can go out sometime;
. . . and gives Vicky a kiss . . .
he gives her a kiss and heads towards the Deri,
. . . then almost knocks Gwen off the pavement
bumping into Gwen, as he is looking back at Vicky.
Josh cannot refuse a free breakfast
Josh is invited to Maes-y-Deri for breakfast.
Dani is keeping herself busy
In the Deri, Garry is still worrying about the baby, but Dani says she wants to keep busy, and urges him to stop fussing.   As Garry answers the phone, Gethin comes in, asking how Dani is;
"I feel that Moc is laughing at me!"
he has not slept a wink all weekend.   “I keep thinking about him – I still feel he’s laughing at me!” but Danny reminds him that Moc is gone for ever.
"The hospital wanted to discuss funeral arrangements"
Garry ends the phone call, and tells them it was the hospital, who wanted to discuss the funeral arrangements.   “I hope you told them where to go!” snarls Gethin,
"He can rot in a skip, as far as I'm concerned!"
“He’s not having a funeral – he can rot in a skip, as far as I’m concerned!”   Garry replies that he does not have to do anything, as the council could deal with the matter –
"Pauper's funeral sort of thing"
“a pauper’s funeral sort of thing.   Gethin comments, “That’s more than he deserves.”
Dani makes no comment
Dani says nothing, and Gethin goes to open the garage;  Garry tells Dani, “The last thing you want is to worry about a funeral.”   She looks thoughtful.
Sioned writes a sympathy card . . .
Sioned is writing in a sympathy card that she is thinking of Dani;
. . . and appears pleased with herself
she looks quite smug.
"Takings were down over the weekend . . ."
In the Deri, Garry comments that the takings were down over the weekend, probably because of Moc,
". . . we could have a karaoke night"
and suggests that they could organise a karaoke night.
"I want to go to the funeral . . ."
Dani announces that she wants to go to the funeral, and she does not like the idea of a pauper’s funeral;  “If I go, at least there will be someone there with him.”
". . . everyone deserves a decent funeral"
She is adamant, “Everyone deserves a decent funeral.”
Garry cannot believe he is hearing this
Garry cannot understand why she is even considering this, but she insists that this is something she has to do, and goes upstairs.
Josh considers this must be serious
At Maes-y-Deri, Josh comments, “If you’re still good friends after sharing a two-man tent, things look promising!”   Vicky serves him with breakfast,
"What are you doing here?"
and then Mark comes in, asking why he is here.
"Love is in the air!"
Josh sings, “Love is in the air!”
This horrifies Mark . . .
and Mark is horrified that Vicky is serious about Mathew.
. . . but Vicky is sure she will not get hurt this time
“The problem is she can’t trust him – he broke her heart last time, and I bet he’ll do it again!” exclaims Mark.   Vicky is confident that she will not get hurt this time.
Dani is looking at the range of coffins
Dani is looking at a funeral director’s website;  looking over her shoulder,
"I still think it's a mistake!"
Garry comments, “You’re serious then – I think it would be a mistake.   You heard what Gethin said earlier, and that is on top of the stress on you and baby – and the cost –
"These things don't come cheap"
“these things don’t come cheap.
Their conversation is interrupted by Sioned
Sioned arrives unannounced with flowers and the sympathy card;  she tells Dani, “I suppose people don’t know what to say –
"He was still your father"
“but he was still your father.”   Garry is eager to get rid of her,
"Would you like a cup of tea?"
but Dani offers her a cup of tea.
Sioned has that smug, self-satisfied look again
“Don’t worry – I’ll look after her,” says Sioned, and he goes downstairs to the bar,
"Sorry – I didn't see Sioned"
where he complains that Mathew should not have let Sioned go up there.   Mathew answers that he had not seen her.
"I want a word with you!"
Mark comes into the Deri and tells Mathew, “I want a word with you – Vicky’s been crying since she came back from the festival.   You’ve upset her again – you have no idea, have you?   She’s afraid you’re going to use her again.”
"I'd never do anything like that"
Mathew assures him that he would not do anything like that, but Mark goes on, “She’s head-over-heels in love with you –
"Are you ready to be a father to Nicky?"
“where do you see this relationship going?”   This isn’t just a bit of fun for her, she want a real relationship – and what about young Nicky?   Are you ready to be a father to him, because that is what she wants?
Mathew is warned off Vicky
“No? – I didn’t think so!   So stay away from her, do you hear?”
Mark thinks he has done the trick
As Mark walks away, Mathew looks confused.
"Garry is forever fussing over me"
Dani complains to Sioned that Garry is treating her like a china doll, and that he is more concerned for the baby.
"The hospital phoned about the funeral"
“The hospital phoned about the funeral – Gethin is against holding any kind of ceremony, and Garry agrees with him.”
"This is not about Garry!"
Sioned reminds her that this is not about Garry, and it is how Dani feels that is important.
Sioned insists that Ed should have had a funeral;  “Yes, but Ed was not a . . .” begins Dani,
"What would people think of me?"
“There’s just something about the idea of paying for the funeral for Moc.   What would people think of me?”   Sioned is of the opinion that this does not matter,
"I went off my head!"  (Some might say you have never recovered)
and recalls that when she lost her Dad, she went off her head, feeling guilty, thinking it was her fault that he was no longer there.   But she is clear that Dani must not let guilt ruin things for her, especially with a baby on the way.
Dani seems to have been convinced
“Stuff Garry!” she advises, “If you want your father to have a funeral – do it – or it will be too late afterwards, and there’s nothing worse than regret, believe me!”   Sioned thinks she has struck the right note.
Gethin updates Garry about the garage
Gethin comes into the Deri to inform Garry about the position in the garage, and is asked if he wants some time off, but he tells Garry to focus on Dani.
Mathew seems to be ignoring Vicky
Vicky is the next to arrive, looking for Mathew;  he does not seem very interested in talking to her, saying that he is busy.   He does not want to see her photos of the festival,
"Have I done something?"
so she asks, “Have I done something, because your behaviour is very weird?”   He replies that they had some fun, but it is not as if they are going out together.
"We may as well stop this now"
He does not want to hurt her, so they may as well stop this now.
She demands why he is being like this, and he says this is just how he feels,
"Go to hell, you waster!"
so she storms off, telling him to go to hell.
Garry wonders what they have been talking about
When Dani and Sioned come downstairs, Garry asks what they have been talking about;
"Let me know when the funeral is"
Sioned remarks to him, “Let me know when the funeral is – and whether you want to borrow any money – funerals are expensive!”
Josh is accosted by an extremely angry Vicky
Vicky heads for Josh’s caravan, and demands what the hell is going on, as Mathew did not want to know her.
"It doesn't make sense!"
“It doesn’t make sense!   We had a fab time – we even . . .    Mark was right – he was using me, just like he did last time!   I can’t believe I fell for it again!”
She gives the caravan a hefty kick as she walks away
She furiously kicks the caravan, and hurries away.
"Sioned tells me you're going ahead with the funeral"
Garry asks, “Since when are you and Sioned such good mates?   She told me you’ve decided to go ahead with the funeral, after all.
"Yes, Wednesday at midday"
Dani reveals that she has booked a slot at the crem on Wednesday at midday.   He argues that babies can feel stress in the womb, but she replies that she would be more stressed if Moc had a pauper’s funeral, and would not be able to live with herself.
"Sioned's got into your head!"
“Sioned’s got into your head!” groans Garry,
"I need closure, Garry"
and Dani explains that this is what she wants.   She will organise everything, as she has to, in order to get closure.
"Vicky's blown a fuse because of you!"
Josh walks purposefully into the Deri, and demands that Mathew tell him what is going on;  “Vicky’s blown a fuse because of you – you were best friends this morning – what happened?”
"I'm not the right bloke"
Mathew admits, “I don’t want to hurt her – I didn’t realise how fragile she is – she gets upset over the smallest things, and if she’s looking for a father for Nicky, I’m not the right bloke.”
"And Vicky told you this, did she?"
Then he reveals that Mark told him this;  he is very grateful, because he had no idea.
Mahogany-effect coffin
Dani and Garry look at the website of Phillips and Brown, where Dani has found a mahogany-effect coffin.
"I know he was an evil man – and dangerous . . ."
“It’s not how much I spend that is important,” she says, “I couldn’t do anything for him when he was alive – and I know he was an evil man – and dangerous.
". . . but there was a time when I loved him"
“But do you know what?   He was my father as well, and there was a time when I loved him – so what do you expect?”
"Gethin must not know!"
She does not want Gethin to know anything about the funeral,
Garry considers this to be rather a tall order
as this is between her and her Dad.
"I can't believe his nerve!"
Vicky rages at Mark, “He was a totally different boy in a few hours!   I thought he liked me – I can’t believe his nerve!”   Of course, Mark agrees with her.
Josh finds she has not calmed down
Josh comes in, and asks if Vicky is feeling better now;  she goes outside to hang the washing on the line.
"You frightened him off!"
“I know what you did!” says Josh, “You frightened him off.   Shall I tell her that this is all your fault?”
"It was for her own good"
Mark insists that he did this for her own good;  when it happened last time, she was in pieces, and he does not want the same thing to happen again.
"I want you to leave"
“I’m the one who knows what’s best for this family!” roars Mark, “It’s my responsibility to keep them safe, nobody else’s – and certainly not a stranger’s like you!   I want you to leave, please, before Debbie comes home and throws you out.”
"He doesn't deserve a proper funeral!"
Outside the garage, Ffion encourages Gethin to eat some lunch;  he is under the impression that Dani shares his intention to let Moc rot.   “We both agree that he does not deserve a proper funeral – the council can sort it out.”
Garry arrives, and Gethin is anxious for him to check on one of the cars.
"He's better now there will be no funeral"
Ffion remarks that Gethin is not eating or sleeping, but he seems better now he knows there will not be a funeral.
"There might be a problem there!"
“There might be a problem there – Dani has changed her mind – she is arranging a funeral for Wednesday!” Garry informs her, “She doesn’t want Gethin to know!”
"I can't keep a secret like that from him!"
Ffion protests that she cannot keep a secret like that from him, but Garry encourages her to take him away for the day – but just make sure he is away from the village.   He has a duty to Dani as she is carrying his child.
"Make sure he doesn't find out!"
Garry goes on, “If you think anything of Gethin, make sure he doesn’t find out!   The whole thing could be too much for him –
Ffion faces an impossible task
“you don’t want that on your conscience!”
