27 June 2017

"I've been awake since four this morning"
Kath tells Debbie, “I can’t believe I’ve been awake since four this morning,” then she complains to Vicky, “You need to play with him during the day, so he sleeps at night.”   Vicky replies that Kath’s snoring kept him awake, but Kath angrily comments, “He’s asleep now, which means he’ll be awake again tonight!”
"I should have stayed in the caravan"
Josh comes in, saying that he feels better;  he kept everyone awake with his coughing and should have stayed in the caravan.  Debbie instructs him, “A cup of tea, and then back to bed.”
Apparently it is Vicky's birthday . . .
Mark arrives, bringing Vicky some birthday cards;  this comes as a surprise to Josh,
. . . and she receives an impressive present from her grandfather
and he presents her with a wad of £20 notes.   Mark was under the impression she was having a party tonight,
"No, she's going to Swansea with Mathew"
but Debbie reminds him she is going to Swansea with Mathew.
Macs is deep in thought
Macs is pondering when Gwyneth comes downstairs, grinning as usual;  he warns her not to touch him.   She says she thought everything was all right between them now,
"You're disgusting!"
but he calls her disgusting;
“Think carefully before saying things like that!” she growls.
"Phone the police if you like – I don't care!"
“Phone the police if you like – I don’t care any more,” he tells her.   She argues that if he did not care, he would not have stayed there last night.   “That was a mistake – everything I’ve done with you has been a mistake!” he says,
"You wanted revenge!"
but she replies that he started this because he wanted revenge.
"He doesn't deserve to lose his home to you!"
“And I regret it,” Macs says, “Dad always did his best for you – he doesn’t deserve to lose his home to you!   I’m going to pack.”   Once more she informs him that, if he goes now, he will regret it, but he is determined.
Colin signs for his letter
Mark delivers a letter to Colin;  “That’s from a solicitor,” he says, and Colin is surprised he has not opened it and read it.
"Right, you can go now"
Mark is dismayed that Colin expects him to leave straightaway, without even a cup of tea.
It confirms his £250, 000 bequest
He finds that the letter concerns the bequest of £250,000
"If I press this button, the police will be here!"
As Macs comes downstairs with his bags, again, Gwyneth warns that she only has to press this button on the phone, and the police will be here.
"I'll do it, if you like"
He calls her bluff, “I’ll do it, if you like!   You’re not dealing with Dad now!   Cross me and you’ll see how different we are.   Blaming me for the poison is all you’ve got –
"Do you really think the police will believe you?"
“do you really think the police will believe you over me?
'Respected' teacher?   Stretching things a bit there, surely
“I’m a respected teacher – what are you, Gwyneth?   A bitter woman who is trying to use someone to do your dirty work!”
Things are not quite going Gwyneth's way
He puts down the phone and walks out of the house.
Colin fancies having a scooter
Mathew is cleaning his scooter outside the Deri, and Colin admires it;
"I assume you got a letter from the solicitor"
then Gaynor approaches, wanting a word with Colin.   “I assume you got a letter from Sam’s solicitor too.”
"I'll strangle that Mark Jones!"
Colin replies that he will strangle that Mark Jones, but it appears that she received a parcel from his fathers estate.
Gaynor has financial advice for him
“It’s important that you don’t do anything rash,” she begins, “You’re dangerous enough on a bike – please don’t buy a moped!   You should invest the money wisely, thinking about Izzy’s and Lois’ future.
"We'll discuss this tonight, OK?"
“We’ll discuss this tonight, OK?” and off she goes.
"Why does she speak as though you were still married?"
Mathew comments that he thought she was Colin’s ex, and wonders why she speaks to him as if they were still married, which makes Colin think.
"You didn't give a damn about Josh until yesterday"
Vicky has decided to cancel her evening with Mathew, and Mark reminds Debbie that she didn’t give a damn about Josh until yesterday;  he asks what has changed.   “The man’s ill,” she answers,
"But now you know he has money!"
and Mark points out that she knows he has got money.
Mark takes up Josh's lunch
He takes lunch up to Josh in the bedroom;
"I heard you arguing downstairs"
Josh apologises if he is in the way, as he heard Mark and Debbie arguing, but Mark assures him he is not the problem, explaining,
"The house is full, isn't it?"
“The house is full, isn’t it?   There is nowhere to hide.”   Josh is confident that in another day or two he will be gone.
"Everyone wanted Debbie to give me a chance"
He muses, “It’s strange – everyone wanted Debbie to give me a chance, and when she does, more problems come to the fore.”
Macs wants to see his father . . .
Macs knocks on the door of number seven;  Iolo demands what he wants,
. . . but is told he is not welcome here
telling him he is not welcome here.   “I know you and Gwyneth have been abusing Dad.”
Siôn is more receptive
Siôn comes to the door and tells Macs that he is listening, but Macs maintains that the street is not the place to say it, so he is invited in.
"You'd better be gone by the time I come back"
Siôn urges Iolo to let Macs have his say;  Iolo picks up his bag of tools and leaves.
"Coming back here was a mistake"
“Coming back here was a mistake – and it was a mistake to start seeing Gwyneth,” Macs says, “Now that I realise that, I’m leaving – now!”
"Why are you telling me this?"
Siôn wonders why he is being told this:
"Because I feel guilty"
“Because I feel guilty – I knew what Gwyneth was up to, and I didn’t try to stop her.”   Siôn reminds him that he helped Gwyneth, and made him feel afraid in his own home.
Macs admits, “I’m sorry, but Gwyneth deceived me too,”
"This is another trick"
but his father suspects that this is another trick.   “Gwyneth was behind it – the lies about Huw, the poison – you weren’t ill, Dad – she was putting poison in your whisky!”
"Were you trying to kill me?"
“Were you trying to kill me?” Siôn demands, but Macs stresses that it was nothing to do with him.   His father does not believe this;
"I'm going to phone the police!"
“I could have died – and you two were behind it!   Why have you waited until now to tell me?   I’m going to phone the police and tell them everything!”
"She's going to frame me"
Macs stops him, saying that there is more;  “Gwyneth bought the poison online – she used my card to pay. If this comes out, she’s going to frame me.”
"Please, Dad, believe me!"
Seeing Siôn’s sceptical look, he pleads, “On Mam’s grave, I’m telling you the truth.   Please, Dad, believe me!”
"Right, tell me the whole story"
Siôn demands that he tell him everything from the beginning.
Gaynor has been bequeathed this ugly vase
Gaynor goes to see Colin, and shows him what she has received;  it is a rather ugly vase,
"Mam used to keep it under the stairs"
which Colin says his mother used to keep under the stairs.   “I don’t blame her,” comments Gaynor, but that is not what she wants to discuss.
"I want you to think carefully about the money"
“I want you to think very carefully about this money,” she instructs Colin, who replies that it is none of her business.   “I know what you’re like – £5 in your hand, and you spend £10!” she continues.
"I shall spend it as I like"
He insists that he will spend it how he likes, despite her insistence on investing the money for the future.
"I'm not a child, Gaynor!"
“Live for the moment – that’s what I’ve learned from losing Dad,” he says, but she imagines that people will take advantage of him.   “Oh – you’re afraid I’m going to share it all with Britt?   I’m not a child, Gaynor!” but she reminds him that he got into debt.
"It's about time you left!"
He is tired of this and tells her to leave,
"And take that thing with you!"
and to take that thing with her.
Vicky and Mathew are off to enjoy themselves
Vicky and Mathew arrive at Maes-y-Deri, pleased that the party has been cancelled,
Josh insists he is going back to his caravan . . .
then Josh walks in, with his luggage, insisting that he is better, although still coughing.   Debbie jumps up
. . . and Debbie objects very vociferously
and exclaims, “Giving you a bed was a mistake – you’re letting me down, the first chance you get!”   He insists that he does not want to let them down, but is in the way here.
"You're staying here, Josh!"
Kath picks up his bag to take it back upstairs, and informs him, “You’re staying here, Josh!”
"I might have said the house is a bit full"
Mark admits to Debbie that he might have said the house is a bit full, but did not ask him to move out.
They order their drinks from Dan
Vicky and Mathew arrive at the Deri
"Thanks for believing me, Dad"
as Siôn and Macs are sitting down for a drink;  “Thanks for believing me and not going to the police,” Macs says;  his father asks what he will do it now.   “Go back to Cardiff – I should sort myself out,” is the reply.
"Just ignore her"
Just then, Gwyneth walks in, and Siôn advises that they should ignore her.
"Discussing the parable of The Prodigal Son?"
“What are you doing?” she asks, “Discussing the parable of The Prodigal son?”
She knocks back the whisky
She does not look entirely pleased, and downs her whisky in one gulp.
A cup of tea is brought for Josh
Debbie goes upstairs with a cup of tea for Josh, and apologises for her anger earlier;
"I thought you didn't want to get to know me"
“I panicked – I thought you didn’t want to get to know me,” but he responds that it is the only reason he is in Cwmderi.
"I won't hurt you"
He goes on, “I was ready to go just now, because I don’t want to make things difficult for you.   Mark was looking out for you – he doesn’t want you getting hurt.   Well, I won’t hurt you.”
"Yes, I'm starting to realise that now"
Debbie admits that she is starting to realise that now.
Vicky wants to go somewhere with a bit more atmosphere than the Deri;
"Don't spend it all at once!"
as Colin looks at the letter, Gwyneth advises him not to spend it all once, and to share it with Yvonne.
"Yvonne's had her share"
“Don’t worry – she’s had her share,” he replies, and buys her a drink;  “To be honest, I’m going to buy everyone a drink!   The drinks are on me!”
He fancies a test drive on the motorbike
Colin also tells Mathew, “I might have a test drive on that motorbike some day!”
The financial advisor is back again
Gaynor is lurking nearby, and comments that he clearly did not listen to a word she said.   He protests that he is only buying a round, and loudly announces, “I want everyone to have a drink to remember Dad!”
"I'm going to pay back the money you've lent me"
Then he reassures Gaynor, “I’m not going to spend like a fool, so stop worrying!   But I have decided to do one thing – pay back the money you’ve lent me over the years.”
"You ought to keep it for the girls"
She would prefer him to keep the money for the girls.
"Sorry I made things awkward"
Mark is sorry that he made things awkward by his remark to Josh, and agrees that if it makes her happy,
"He can stay for ever, if he wants"
Josh can stay here for ever if he wants.
They seem to be reconciled
Just as peace appears to be reigning, Kath walks in,
"Using my bed as a trampoline!"
still complaining that Nicky was using her bed as a trampoline all night.
"You can have our bed if you like"
Mark offers, “You can have our bed if you like – Debs and I can sleep down here.”
Iolo is not happy to find Macs still there
When Iolo returns home, Macs is sitting on the sofa, much to his surprise.
"I'll be leaving soon for Cardiff"
He is pleased that Macs will be leaving soon.   “I’ll be in touch once I have settled back in Cardiff,” Macs tells his father, who wants him to stay just one more night.
"Iolo doesn't want me here, Dad"
“Iolo doesn’t want me here, Dad,” is the reply.
“I do,” pleads Siôn, “I need your help to get my home back!”   Macs is of the opinion that Gwyneth will not move out;
"We must get rid of her, once and for all!"
“That’s why I want us to work together, and think of a way to get rid of her – once and for all!”
Macs appears to agree with this aim
Macs nods his assent.
