26 June 2017

Josh is far from well
In his caravan in the middle of the night, Josh is coughing and wheezing;
He reaches for a glass of water
he gets a glass of water, which does little to help.
"Meic, I don't know what to do"
Meanwhile, at number 10, Anita is agonising, “Meic, I don’t know what to do – I can’t live here, but I can’t move either.”
"How about a cup of tea?"
She has disturbed Kelly, who also comes downstairs, and suggests making a cup of tea.
Kelly has pregnancy on her mind
“I can’t stop thinking about this pregnancy scare,” admits Kelly, “I don’t know why I’m still upset.”   Anita points out that it was one of Moc’s strengths, playing with people’s minds.   “He has made me realise what I want,” says Kelly, “I’m ready to have a family.”
"This is neither the time nor the place"
Anita maintains that the early hours of the morning are no time to discuss such a matter, and goes back to bed.
"You haven't spoken to me all weekend!"
In the morning, Gwyneth comes downstairs and accuses Macs of sulking;  “You haven’t spoken to me all weekend!” she moans, “Come on, we have got cause for celebration – let’s forget about last week and start again.”   There is a knock on the door, which Macs thinks might be his father.
Ffion is looking for Siôn
In fact, it is Ffion, who is told by Gwyneth, “Siôn doesn’t live here!”   Macs elucidates that he is staying with Iolo for a while, and Ffion says that she needs him to babysit Arwen.
"We'll look after her!"
“We’ll do it!” volunteers Gwyneth, but Ffion decides to find someone else.
"You are not the problem"
“Am I not good enough?” demands Gwyneth, then goes on to tell Macs, “Can you believe her?   Refusing help like that?” but he assures her that she is not a problem.
"The snobs all stick together"
She rants, “The snobs all stick together here, believing everything that Siôn says, even though he’s lying – as usual!”
Macs searches for something
Macs searches for something in a drawer.
Kelly has overslept
Kelly has overslept, and wails, “Debbie is going to kill me!   I shall need more than a double espresso to stay awake.”
"Why don't you take a day off sick?"
Anita urges her to call in sick so they can spend the day together.
"What, so you can lecture me?"
“So you can lecture me about not having a baby!” replies Kelly, but Anita thinks that, on the contrary, it is a lovely idea, which surprises Kelly.
"When you find the right man"
“Having children around the place is one of the best things in life,” Anita continues, “And I’m sure when you find the right man, you’ll have a house full of children!”
"Who said anything about finding a man?"
Kelly asks who said anything about finding a man, but Anita comments that having a baby is difficult without one.   Kelly enquires if she has heard of donors, and leaves for work.
Gwyneth wants to tell everyone she has ousted Siôn
Gwyneth wants go to the café, to share the good news that Siôn has moved out,”
"But he hasn't moved out yet"
but Macs points out he has not done that yet.   “No, but he’s not allowed to come back,” she insists, “I don’t think it will take much for him to sell his half to us.”
He checks she has gone, before continuing his search
Macs is uneasy about this, and when she has gone, he goes upstairs.
"We were supposed to meet in the café"
Vicky arrives at the caravan to find her grandfather still in bed;  they had arranged to meet in the café.
"I'll be better in a day or two"
He struggles to get up, and is still coughing, but says he will be better in a day or two.
Vicky insists she must call the doctor . . .
Vicky is adamant that she will phone the doctor,
. . . but Josh expressly forbids it
but he objects, “No doctor – understand?”
There is no reply at number 7
In the street, Ffion asks Anita if she has seen Siôn, as Arwen is not well;
"Won't Garry give Gethin a day off?"
“Won’t that bully, Garry, give Gethin a day off?” Anita comments, but is told that Gethin had to go away for a night or two,
"Be a good girl for Anita"
then she agrees to look after Arwen.
Fundraising drive at Bethania
As they walk across the road, we see a large thermometer-shaped board on the front of Bethania, indicating that fundraising has begun.
Gwyneth feels seriously disgruntled
Gwyneth notices Arwen with Anita, and looks disgusted.
Debbie finds this website distasteful
In the café, during a lull in trade, Kelly studies at the laptop;  Debbie notices the website of Sunside Sperm Bank, and expresses her distaste.
"Research for a freelance article"
She is told that Kelly is doing research for a freelance article.   “Who would want to read that?” Debbie demands, and asks Kath, who is sitting nearby, if she would be interested in reading about sperm donors.
"Grandad's ill"
Vicky comes rushing in, needing her mother’s help;  “Grandad’s ill.”   Debbie points out that the surgery is just across the road.   “He can’t stop coughing, and he cannot breathe properly.”   Kath agrees that the doctor is the right answer, but Vicky protests that he will not let her phone.
Kath will sort things out
Kath goes to sort the matter out, but Debbie does not want to go and see him,
"He might be dying, Mam!"
despite Vicky’s assertion that he might be dying.
"Don't be so dramatic"
“Don’t be so dramatic – he just wants some attention,” she says.
"Ffion has left Arwen with Anita"
Gwyneth returns to Y Felin and rages at Macs, “You won’t believe this – Ffion has left Arwen with Anita!” but he says they have more important things to discuss.   “What’s more important than your daughter?” she demands.
"Look what I've found!"
He holds up the small dropper bottle he has found, and she objects to his searching through her things.
"You've been trying to kill Dad!"
He shouts, “Are you surprised?   You’ve been trying to kill Dad!”   She protests that she has not been trying to kill anyone,
She comes up with a fanciful explanation
and the contents of that bottle were given to her by the doctor to treat her verrucas.   He insists that no doctor would have given her this.   “And why is the laptop search history full of this?   Articles about how it can make people ill - and die?”
"I just wanted to scare him"
She once again asserts that all she wanted to do was to scare Siôn.
"Like you wanted to scare Garry – and killed Brandon!"
He recalls, “All you wanted to do was to scare Garry – when you killed Brandon!”   She replies that getting Y Felin was what they both wanted, and that he should thank her, as what they both want is now within touching distance.
"Do you want to die in your bed?"
Kath visits Josh;  “Do you want to die in your bed?”   He replies that he has not seen a doctor for fifty years, and is not seeing one now.
An unexpected visitor to the caravan . . .
The door suddenly opens, and Debbie appears, with some soup for Josh.   Vicky is reluctant to go, but Kath tells her to leave Debbie to persuade her father to see a doctor.
. . . who makes Josh smile
When they are left alone, Josh thanks Debbie for coming, but she insists she is not staying.
Macs tells Gwyneth to get out
Macs tells Gwyneth, “Pack your bags and go!   I’m not interested in your scheming any more!”
"We both wanted revenge on Siôn"
She reminds him what they talked about in Cardiff – how they both wanted revenge on his father.   “I wanted him to suffer as much as I suffered,” explains Macs,
"If you're not going, I am!"
“If you’re not going, I am.”
"You don't even get a corner of this house!"
“You’re throwing it all away just when we’re about to get what we want?” demands Gwyneth, but he wants no more to do with her.   Angrily, she exclaims, “Without me, you’ve got nothing, not even a corner of this house!”   He does not care, and informs her that it is over.   “Threatening to finish with me?   You’re more like your father than I thought!” she snarls.
"I am finishing with you!"
Macs tells her plainly, “I’m not threatening – I am finishing with you!”   Then she admits that she went too far, but is told that it is too late now.
"I'm exactly the same as you"
Debbie tells her father, “I understand why you don’t want help – I’m exactly the same.”   He points out that independence is important.   “Especially when you’ve got a mother like Dol – never knowing if she’s there for you,” Debbie goes on.
She takes the soup from the microwave;
"You had a shock when I turned up"
Josh says, “You had a shock when I turned up – half the population turns its nose up when they see the caravan.”
"Come on and eat your soup"
Debbie is eager to change the subject, and urges him to eat the soup before it gets cold.
Again he starts coughing
He lapses into another coughing fit, and Debbie says this is not right, what he needs is a comfortable bed in a warm house, but he protests this is his home, and that he cannot live in a house.
"I'm only doing this for Vicky!"
“I’m only doing this for Vicky – she would never forgive me if anything happened to you,” she tells him.
Arwen is engrossed
Arwen is doing some colouring when Kelly comes home, and remarks that this is rather obvious;
"This is taking my mind off Moc"
“This is taking my mind off Moc,” responds Anita, and Kelly promises that she will not have to borrow children when she has a baby,
"My mind is made up, Auntie Anita!"
and that her mind is made up.   Anita is worried that she has not thought it through, as there is a difference between being a parent and being a single parent.
“Yes, you can make all the decisions when you’re a single parent,” Kelly replies, “I know it’s hard – Mam was mostly on her own – but couples struggle too.”
"You must think about it seriously"
Anita urges her to take her time, and think about it seriously.   “You’re not going to stop me – I’ve been looking for donors,” she says, “Excuse me, I’m going to download a fertility app on my phone!”
An anxious wait for Vicky and Kath
Vicky and Kath wait anxiously in the Deri;  Kath predicts that even Debbie’s heart will melt when she sees how ill he is.
"He's staying with us until he's better"
Then Debbie walks in, informing Kath that he is packing;  “He’s staying with us until he’s better.   He’s staying in the back room, and you’re sharing with Vicky – or one of you can move into the caravan.
"Josh comes first now!"
“As you’ve both been preaching for weeks, Josh comes first now!”
Arwen and her Mam go home
Ffion comes to collect Arwen from Anita, and as the door closes,
"Here we go – another lecture!"
Kelly anticipates another lecture.   “I’m not going to pretend I’m happy with what you’re doing,” begins Anita, “The first step is to find a nice man,
"If you're determined, I won't stop you"
“but if you’re determined to have a child another way, I won’t stop you.   It’s not easy, raising a child on your own – I’m speaking from experience – but it’s not impossible.
Josh arrives at Maes-y-Deri
Josh is still wheezing when he arrives at Maes-y-Deri;
Debbie gives them all their orders
“Now sit down there while Vicky makes a cup of tea and Kath changes the sheets,” Debbie instructs, and Kath wonders what she will be doing, apart from giving orders.   “I've got a café to run – remember?” is the answer.
"I'm proud of you today, Debbie Collins!'
By the front door, Kath tells Debbie, “I don’t tell you this often, but I’m proud of you today, Debbie Collins, giving your father a chance.”   Debbie’s reply is that he will only be there for a few days.
"I won't have a choice but to phone the police"
Macs has packed his belongings, but is advised not to rush off;  “You need to think again, or I won’t have a choice but to phone the police.”
"What – report yourself for attempted murder?"
He suggests that she can report herself for attempted murder.
"I used your name and card to buy the poison"
She replies, “You should have searched the laptop history more carefully – I used your name and card to buy the poison – the evidence is all there.
"Take that bag upstairs"
“So do yourself a favour, and take that bag upstairs.”
"You can't blackmail me"
Macs says that she cannot blackmail him;
"Yes I can – I just have!"
she chillingly reminds him, “I just have!   Now go and unpack before I change my mind about giving you a second chance.   He admits defeat and reluctantly walks upstairs.
