| Kelly looks far from well |
Kelly sits, quietly sobbing, and when Anita comes downstairs,
| She tries to escape from Anita . . . |
she runs out of the back door.
| . . . who is speaking to the Estate Agents |
Anita is on the phone; “I want to move as soon as possible,” she says, and when Kelly comes back inside, tells her, “Tomos ac Ellis advised me to wait to put it on market.”
| "You shouldn't sell it at all" |
Kelly replies that she should not sell the house at all, but it is her decision.
| "This place gives me the creeps!" |
“You know, this place gives me the creeps!” Anita says, “I can see him lying there, and the blood.” Then she notices that Kelly looks pale; Kelly replies that this is the result of her going on and on about the blood.
| "Let's go to the Deri for lunch" |
Anita insists that they go to the Deri for lunch, as the house is driving her crazy, and seeing Kelly eat would cheer her up.
“There’s nothing like a bit of emotional blackmail, is there?” responds Kelly.
| Dani is preparing for the funeral . . . |
Dani is applying her lipstick,
| . . . and thinking |
and looking very thoughtful.
| "Where are we going to live, then?" |
Out in the street, Kelly asks where they will live, if Anita sells number 10, and is told that Anita does not want to move far outside the village. “So you’re going to sell one nice house to buy another nice house – where is the sense in that?” enquires Kelly, “There may not be bad memories in another house, but there won’t be good memories either.”
| Garry is in his best suit |
Then they see Garry, in a suit, getting into his car;
| "They kept that quiet" |
“Looks as if someone is going to a funeral – they kept that quiet!” remarks Anita. Garry has been trying, unsuccessfully, to phone someone,
| "We shall have to close the Deri" |
and unable to get staff, decides they will have to close the Deri.
Iolo arrives and asks if there is anything he can do to help;
| "You know how to pull pints, don't you?" |
Garry asks him to look after the Deri for a few hours. “You know how to pull pints, don’t you?”
| Garry throws the keys to Iolo |
Dani suddenly realises she has forgotten the lilies, and runs back inside to get them.
| Kelluy vomits in the sink . . . |
Meanwhile, Kelly has rushed back to number 10, and once more throws up in the sink.
| . . . then feels her stomach |
She feels her stomach, and appears to have come to a chilling realisation.
| Ffion does not know where Gethin is |
Ffion comes over and asks Garry if he has seen Gethin, as he went out early this morning, before she was awake, and is not answering his phone. “When Dani told him about the funeral, he said he was going to celebrate when Moc was burning.”
| Garry makes a gratuitously offensive remark |
Garry predicts that he will be dead drunk in a gutter somewhere, adding, rather caustically, “You ought to know where to look!”
| Off they go to the crematorium |
He and Dani get into the car.
| "I can't wait to get out of number 10" |
Inside the Deri, Anita tells Iolo about her desire to move out of number 10,
| Iolo is concerned about Kelly |
and her suspicions that Kelly’s Bulimia is coming back. He looks very worried.
| Dani and Garry are welcomed to the crematorium |
Dani and Garry arrive at the crematorium;
| They enter . . . |
after being shown inside,
| . . . and Dani approaches the coffin |
she hands the lilies to Garry and approaches the coffin. “I wasn’t sure if I was going to do this – I’m still not sure,” she begins,
| "I've also loved you a lot" |
“I would like to say a couple of things I didn’t get the chance to say in the hospital. I’ve hated you so much over the years – but I’ve also loved you a lot. When I was little, you were my hero.”
| Who is this, silently coming in? |
In the background, someone can be seen quietly entering the room, as Dani continues, “It’s those days I want to remember today – the days when you pushed me on the swing, took me into town to buy sweets, played hide and seek in the trees. I’m grateful for those memories – there aren’t enough of them because you were never there. You always wanted to be somewhere else, because . . .
| "Rest in peace" |
“But, Dad, I want peace now, I want to move forward with my life, and I hope – wherever you are – that you rest in peace.”
| Dani is in tears |
Dani has been in tears listening to this,
| "Right, Gethin, you've had your say!" |
then Garry tells him that he has had his say, and should let Dani finish.
| "This is between you and your hero!" |
“Yes,” replies Gethin, “This is between you and your hero!”
| Gethin leaves the chapel |
He walks out,
| "There's nothing else to say, Garry" |
Dani acknowledges that there is nothing else to say,
| She places the lilies on the coffin . . . |
and places the lilies on the coffin.
| . . . they watch as the coffin . . . |
They watch,
| . . . of Morgan Thomas, 1957 – 2017 . . . |
as the coffin
| . . . gradually descends |
gradually descends out of sight.
| Kelly has a pregnancy test kit |
When Kelly hears a knock on the door, she quickly hides a pregnancy test kit;
| "I want to help if the Bulimia is back" |
it is Iolo, who tells her that Anita is waiting for her in the Deri. “You don’t have to pretend – I want to help if the Bulimia is back,” he tells her.
| "Anita is barking up the wrong tree" |
Kelly informs him that Anita is barking up the wrong tree.
| "This Moc business has terrified you" |
Iolo can see that she is obviously not right, and urges her to tell him what the problem is. “This Moc business has terrified you, but the funeral is today, so we can all get back to normality, and you and Anita can try and carry on with your lives again.”
| "Bits of Moc are still alive . . ." |
Kelly, on the other hand, maintains that it is not all over; she suspects that bits of Moc are still alive;
| ". . . in here!" |
“In here,” she sobs, pointing to her stomach.
| Gethin is drinking with wild abandon |
In the Deri, Gethin loudly announces that he is celebrating; Anita thinks he has had enough to drink, but he tells her to get lost.
| "Rest in peace – that's what she said!" |
Then, as Dani and Garry return, he shouts, “The mourners, in their black! Rest in peace – that’s what she said!
| "Rot in hell, you mean!" |
“Rot in hell, you mean! Don’t you have anything to say? You had plenty to say earlier!”
| Garry reminds him that he started all this |
Garry reminds him that none of this would have happened if he had not locked up Moc in Penrhewl, and tells Gethin to go home.
| Iolo nurses the pregnancy test kit |
As Iolo sits, holding the test kit, Kelly tells him, “I’ve always wanted a baby – my marriage fell apart because I wanted children and he didn’t. Now I’m not as obsessed as I was –
| "What if this is my one and only chance?" |
“Bulimia plays havoc with your insides, but what if this is my one and only chance?” He points out that she has not taken the test, but she answers that she knows.
| "The baby of a monster!" |
She wails, “What if the baby of a monster, a disgusting paedophile, is the only chance I’ll have to be a mother?
| "I don't think I could handle it!" |
“I don’t think I could handle it! I know it’s not the baby’s fault who its father is, but every time I’d look at it, or feed it,
| "Moc would be there!" |
“Moc would be there.”
| "Thanks, Kelly, for leaving me on my own!" |
Anita comes in, scolding Kelly for leaving her on her own to deal with Gethin and his antics in the Deri; then she asks why Kelly is crying. She demands that Iolo tell her if it is Bulimia, and insists she will have to call the Doctor.
| "Don't do that!" |
Kelly screams at her not to do that,
| "She might be pregnant with Moc's child!" |
and Iolo blurts out, “Kelly’s worried she might be pregnant with Moc’s child!”
Kelly is extremely scared,
| "Take it to the bathroom now!" |
but Anita yells at her to go to the bathroom immediately with the test kit.
| Ffion has been worried sick |
Gethin staggers back to Cysgod y Glyn, where Ffion has been worried sick,
| Gethin has problems with standing up |
and he reveals that he went to the crematorium. He unsteadily finds his way to a chair, and she tells him he needs help to deal with this.
| "It's not your fault, Geth!" |
The only thing she knows is that it is not his fault, but he is the one being punished.
| Gethin explains what he did |
“Garry is right – it is all my fault!” he replies, “I don’t deserve your sympathy – I locked him up in the shed at Penrhewl!
| "I wanted him to suffer, like I suffered!" |
“He was in there for days, and I went over every night to torment him. I wanted him to suffer, like I suffered – I wanted to kill him! The police were looking for him the whole time – yes, it is my fault, Ffion!”
| Ffion is aghast |
She cannot believe what he has told her.
| The test reveals 'NOT PREGNANT' . . . |
Kelly returns downstairs, and after a pregnant pause, reveals the verdict – ‘NOT PREGNANT’.
| . . . which Anita is very pleased about |
Anita is overjoyed, but Kelly wonders why she is being sick all the time. Iolo points out that the trauma of the shooting could have caused it,
| "Even more reason to move out!' |
and Anita maintains it is even more reason to move from the house.
| "You'd better go and see Dr Pritchard" |
“In the meantime maybe you should go and see Dr Pritchard,” advises Iolo,
| Kelly will do so |
and Kelly agrees.
| Ffion is angry with Gethin |
Ffion demands how Gethin thinks this makes her feel; “I had to listen to you complaining, and crying – and you let me comfort you.
| "If you had told the police . . ." |
“If you had told the police, none of this would have happened! And you’ve got the nerve to say you’re never going to get justice!”
| "It was my chance to get revenge!" |
He explains that he saw his chance to get revenge, to see Moc suffer.
| "But who is suffering in the end?" |
“Yes, but who is suffering in the end?” Ffion demands.
He pleads that he would never have done this if he were not under pressure;
| "It's over!" |
“I swear to you that nothing like this will never happen again! It’s over!”
| "It's not over for us, is it, Geth?" |
Ffion points out to him, “It’s over for him – he’s dead! But it’s not over for us, is it, Geth?”
