| "It will be strange for you" |
He assures her he will not let the past affect today;
“We won’t be able to put it all behind us just like that, but today is a chance for a fresh start. To look forward to our future together, as a family. It’s not going to be easy, but we have to try.
“Come on, or we’ll be late.”

| Garry has now told Dani everything |
“I want you to stop calling and texting – I don’t want you to contact me again,” Garry instructs her,
and she is surprised, after everything they have been through.
He goes on, “I can see now that losing the baby was a blessing.”

| "After all we've been through?" |

| Sioned does not think of it as a blessing |
He opens the car door for Dani, but Sioned has not finished yet; “Where do you have to go that’s so important?” Garry informs her that it is Dani’s 20-week scan.
As he drives away, she looks very downhearted and sits down on the kerb; her mother approaches and asks what is wrong,
but Sioned just wants to be left alone.

When Mathew arrives at Maes-y-Deri, Vicky wonders why he has a rucksack; “I’ve moved out of the Deri,” he explains,
and she assumes that he wants to move in with her. “I wondered if you knew of someone with the room going?” he says.
In the kitchen, Debbie and Kath are eavesdropping.
![]() |
| "And you want to move in with me?" |
![]() |
| There are two people listening with interest |
![]() |
| "It's a bit early to be thinking of that" |
![]() |
| "If you're serious, you might as well shack up together!" |
![]() |
| "You can stay if you want" |

Colin arrives in an excited mood, and shouts to Katrin to come out, as has something to show her;
“I had to go all the way to the depot to pick it up,” he tells Britt.
When Katrin emerges, he says,” Look, Cats – a brand-new camera for the family – it’s different from the camera phone. You can zoom in, zoom out, change lenses,
and there is a smart mode on it – you can send the photos to your friends online, just like that.”

| . . . and Kath tries to get away, unnoticed |
![]() |
| "Blimey, Kath – have you got an allotment?" |
![]() |
| "You can't see it from here" |
![]() |
| "You don't strike me as an allotment holder" |
![]() |
| "Have you seen the price of veg in Eileen's shop?" |
She offers Jim some gardening tips,
but when he returns to his digging he appears to injure his foot in some way.

| Mathew is looking for accommodation |
![]() |
| "Oh, are you moving out of the Deri?" |
Britt remarks that it makes sense, with a baby on the way, and Colin quips, “Changing times, changing nappies.” Britt decides to buy a baby magazine for Dani, who has her 20-week scan today. Colin has a bright idea that he could offer to take their photos, before and after having the baby;
“Make a portfolio, from the bump to the world.”

“They weren’t things I used to do with Courtney,” he replies,
“When she was a little girl we used to spend hours gardening – until she spent more time with her dolls, then with her friends – and then with the boys. But that time, when we did the gardening together, that was special.”

Dani remarks that as long as the baby does not get her father’s brains, she will be fine; it is confirmed that everything is all right.
“I’m so proud of you,” Garry tells her,
and she decides that the baby’s name will be Greta, after Dani’s grandmother.
Garry kisses her.
Meanwhile, Sioned, with tears in her eyes, repeatedly dials Garry’s mobile,
and every time she hears the message that he is not available at the moment,
she redials.

| Vicky manages to persuade him |
“Right, sorted – we’ve got a new housemate,” declares Debbie.
Garry is surprised to hear that Mathew is moving out of the Deri, but wishes him well. He has to go to the garage, and will settle up with Debbie later.
![]() |
| "Are you moving out, Mathew?" |
Dani predicts that the three of them will be very happy;
Sioned gets up from her position and goes up to the flat.
She takes Garry’s jacket from the hook, and holds it lovingly.

![]() |
| "I want that jacket back!" |
“It’s not yours – Garry wants me to keep it,” says Sioned,
“I’m going to keep it because it’s the only thing I have left!” Garry is just getting out of his car and locking it, as she continues, “You’ve destroyed my life!”
![]() |
| "It's the only thing I have left!" |
![]() |
| "You can start by repaying the £25,000" |
![]() |
| "After everything I've been through?" |
“Go to hell!” rages Sioned, “I will be paying back a single penny to Garry – think of it as compensation for the mess he’s made of my life!”
By this time, a few people are witnessing this altercation as she continues, “I’ve lost my baby! The one thing I wanted in the whole world!”
![]() |
| Villagers have been attracted by the noise |
Dani stresses that she has been through the same experience, and knows how awful it is.
“I don’t want your sympathy – don’t pretend you care about me, either. You’re glad I lost the baby, aren’t you. It’s a blessing, because now you can carry on with your perfect little life!”
By now there is quite a crowd of onlookers,
and Britt hurries to the shop to fetch Eileen.

Sioned is still loudly declaiming, “I want you to know Garry wanted me – he couldn’t get enough of me – he was ready to leave you!” As she walks away,
Dani throws down her bag and demands that she wants the jacket, trying to pull it from Sioned.
