22 August 2017 (1st)

Anita persuades Dr Pritchard to come on CwmFM
Kelly is pouring out the coffee as Anita is on the phone;  “It’s only a half-hour programme, with people phoning in to discuss medical issues,” she says, “Dr Edwards has just phoned in to cancel – are you willing to fill in for me?   The programme starts at twelve.”
"That's the first time I've heard of a medical slot"
Kelly looks very suspicious;  “It’s the first time I’ve heard of medical slot on CwmFM – and who is Dr Edwards?”   Anita tells her to mind her own business.
The Llanarthur Show is approaching
In the Western Post, Jim sees that it is the Llanarthur Show once again, and tells Eileen to start cooking, as she always does well with the judges.
"No, I'm not in the mood, Jim"
She is not in the mood for cooking,
"Pity there's nothing in the allotment"
and Jim says that it is a pity he does not have anything to show from the allotment.   “What sort of produce has Kath got in her allotment?” Eileen asks him, and he thinks that he should go and to take a look at it.   She thinks that this gardening has done him a world of good.
A phone call from Sioned . . .
Then her phone suddenly rings;  it is Sioned,
. . . who is in Lanzarote
calling from Lanzarote.
"Dani and the baby are fine"
Her mother tells her that Dani and the baby are fine.
"I'm going to take aerial photos of the village"
In the Deri, Colin announces that he is going to take pictures of the village from the air;  “Aerial photos, using Dorothy the drone,
"Dorothy, named after the famous Spitfire"
named after the famous Spitfire.   I’ll get some fantastic photos!”
"Can you do that without people's permission?"
Elgan asks if he can photograph people’s property without permission, and Gaynor  comments that you never know what people do in their back gardens.
"The landlord going to visit his fancy woman!"
Colin remarks that a few months ago, he would have caught the landlord going to visit his fancy woman.   Garry, who is not amused, has a word with Colin;
Garry issues a chilling warning to Colin
“I’m sure that drone cost you a penny or two – it would be a shame if something happened to it – or to the pilot!” and Colin makes a hasty exit.   Sara also leaves as she has a delivery to make,
DJ's mind is otherwise engaged
but DJ is in a world of his own.
Elgan asks Garry if Dani is feeling better,
Garry does not want to talk about it
but he does not want to discuss it;  he comments that most people are ready to stick their noses in,
"I'm looking for a car"
but Elgan reveals that he is looking for a car.
Garry is very confident about Moduron Monk
“I’ll give you a better bargain than any garage within 50 miles,” Garry assserts confidently, “Give me an idea of what you’re looking for, and I’ll look online to see what’s available.”
Colin takes Dorothy out to the allotment . . .
Colin has ventured to the allotment for his next flight,
. . . where Kath brings Jim some refreshment
and elsewhere, Kath visits Jim, who has been weeding his plo.   She hands him a can, and they sit down to enjoy them.
He is complimentary about her cabbages
He asks if she is going to compete in the Llanarthur show, but she does not think so;  “The cabbages you showed me last week were something else!” he says, regretting that he did not start the allotment earlier, so he had something to show.
The 'eye in the sky' is deployed
Colin launches the drone, shouting, “Bon voyage!” as it soars into the air.
"Since when does Jim Probert stick to the rules?"
Kath has an idea;  “Come down to my patch and I’ll give you some veg to take to the show, and when he describes this as cheating, she demands, “Since when does Jim Probert stick to the rules?”
A Dorothy-eye-view of the pair
The drone, which is at that moment above them, and which they inexplicably do not hear, is video-recording them.
Elgan is very uneasy
Dr Pritchard feels very uneasy behind the microphone, and Anita tells him she will start by asking questions about him.   “I’m not a very interesting person,” he protests,
"The listeners will enjoy hearing about you"
but she is sure that the listeners will enjoy hearing about him.
He cannot make any further objections, as the program is now on air;
"Our 'Getting to Know out People' slot"
“Welcome to our ‘Getting to Know our People’ slot here on CwmFM.   My guest today is Dr Elgan Pritchard, the new GP in Cwmderi.   Right, won’t you tell us a little bit about yourself, Elgan?”
Elgan is clearly out of his depth – as intended
He seems rather tongue-tied as she asks him about where he was born, and where he considers home.   “Well, Cwmderi these days – I’ve settled very well,” he replies.   Anita thinks it is time they played some music.
"I thought this was the medical slot"
Elgan takes off his headphones and protests that he thought this was the medical slot.   “Don’t try to be funny on the radio, because you can’t do it,” she snarls at him.
"Debbie accused Mathew of stealing money"
Kath tells Jim that she enjoys getting out of the house;  “Debbie accused Mathew of stealing money yesterday,” she says,
"Money went missing from the shop, too"
which Jim thinks it is odd, because someone stole from the shop yesterday afternoon, and he wonders if there is a link.   He is very impressed with Kath’s plot, and she asks what he would like to put into the show.
"I'd love to beat Owen Tyres' cabbages"
“Well, I’d love to beat Owen Tyres’ cabbages!” he exclaims;
"Take your pick then, Jim!"
she invites him to take his pick, and then she decides to compete at the show too.
They seem happy at competing against each other . . .
As Jim hugs her,
. . . and meanwhile the drone is watching
Dorothy the drone is recording the scene from overhead;
Colin has clearly mastered the art of drone control . . .
then Colin steers the craft back to the ground.
. . . and congratulates Dorothy on a successful mission
“Well done, Dorothy – now let’s see what sort of images you’ve got for me,” he says.
Garry has located a suitable car
Garry is looking online at cars in an auction, and thinks that an Audi A6 is the ideal one,
"Everything is carrying on as normal for you"
predicting that he should make a tidy profit out of the doc.   Dani comments, “Everything is carrying on as normal for you.”   He replies that they do not want any more worry like last Friday.
Eileen notifies them that Sioned is in Lanzarote
Then Eileen arrives again, to give Dani and Garry the news that Sioned has phoned, and that she is in Lanzarote.
"And why would I want to know that?"
Dani exhibits indifference, and Eileen continues, “I haven’t told her that you’re going to go to the police,” which comes as a surprise to Dani.   Garry is keen for Eileen to leave, but she begs them to change their mind, as Sioned would not be able to cope in prison again.
"I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet"
“I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet!” insists Dani, “What did Garry tell you?”   Eileen explains to her,
"Can I have a word with Garry in private?"
and Dani then wants to speak to Garry alone.
"That's my decision – no-one else's!"
“Going to the police is my decision – no-one else’s!” she stresses,
Garry is in the doghouse again
 walks out of the room.
'Right, Chester, which hole do I put it in?"
Colin is on the phone to Chester, who explains how to insert the memory card into the laptop;  “Thank you Chest, it’s working now!” he exclaims.   Sitting back to watch the footage,
"Ooh – wide screen and everything!"
he mutters, “Ooh – wide screen and everything!”
He sees a couple of familiar figures
then notices Jim and Kath, apparently hugging each other, as they walk in the allotment.
"What's going on here?"
“What’s going on here?” Colin wonders.
At first, the CwmFM programme amuses them . . .
In the Deri, Gaynor and Kelly are listening to the radio interview on Kelly’s phone;
. . . as Anita's interrogation continues
Anita’s questions become more intrusive, and the doctor is clearly out of his depth as he explains that he likes birdwatching.
"Anita told him this was a medical slot"
“Anita told him this was a medical slot,” comments Gaynor,
"I can smell a rat here!"
and Kelly says that she can smell a rat here.
Rather exasperated, Elgan demands whether the listeners have got any medical questions for him;
"The listeners obviously haven't got much faith in your advice!"
“No, nobody phoned in,” Anita replies, “The listeners obviously haven’t got much faith in your advice!”
Gaynor is outraged by this
Gaynor is angry about this and wonders what is wrong with Anita.
"You are going to tell Eileen you've changed your mind"
Dani hands the phone to Garry and instructs him to ring Eileen and tell her he has changed his mind.
His protests have no effect
“Not everyone wants revenge like you, Garry.   If we take Sioned to court, I shall have to be in the witness box – I don’t want to do that!   I don’t want to relive it all – I’m trying to forget why it happened – so please phone Eileen to come over here!
"You had no right to say that"
“And I want you to say sorry you had no right to say you were going to the police.”
Garry is not happy about it . . .
He has no choice but to capitulate,
. . . but does as he is told
and takes the phone from her.
"You have a lot more than Owen Tyres has to offer"
“I’ll tell you this – what you have is a lot more than Owen Tyres has to offer!” declares Kath, as they sit with another can in the shed.
Little do they know that an eavesdropper is coming . . .
Outside the door, Colin has crept up,
. . . and listens in to their conversation
and listens as Jim asks, “Have you see his, then?”
"I can imagine what it looks like!"
She admits that she can imagine what it looks like, and reminds him that this is their little secret.
Colin bursts into the shed
Colin is incensed and shouts, “Right, I know you’re in there!”   He bursts into the shed and finds them sitting with cans in their hands.   Jim asks if he wants something,
This occasions some amusement
and they realise that Colin suspected they were engaged in some illicit behaviour.   Colin feels very embarrassed.
"Why did she lie about the medical slot?"
Back at the Deri, Elgan describes his interview as a shambles, and wonders why she lied about the medical slot.    Gaynor points out that she was also very rude, and someone should talk to her, but he wants to forget it.
Gaynor is very scathing about Anita
Just then, Anita walks in, and Gaynor asks her if she got out of the wrong side of bed this morning;  “The way you treated Elgan was disgraceful,” but Anita insists she was trying to get to know him.
"Did you want to make a fool of him?"
“You were very critical – did you want to make a fool of him?   It’s not right!”
"You must admit you were harsh"
At the bar, Kelly tells Anita that she must admit that she was harsh, but her answer is that he was not a very interesting guest.
"That was false pretences!"
“You got him on the show under false pretences – and that’s not fair in my book!” Kelly adds, but her comment is completely ignored.
"What's your excuse this time?"
When Colin returns to the shop, is told that he was supposed to be there half an hour ago, and is asked what is his excuse this time.
She will take the £50 out of his wages
“I thought I made it clear yesterday I need someone reliable.   I’m not paying you to turn up when you want to!”   Colin confirms that it will not happen again, but she goes on, “I’m taking the £50 that disappeared yesterday out of your pay.”
"I was doing you a favour!"
Colin tries to tell her that he was doing her favour, as he suspected . . .
A lot of noise attracts their attention
but at this point Jim and Kath come into the shop,
Jim and Kath are falling about laughing
still laughing uproariously about the incident.   “Hey, you’ll never believe what Colin suspected just now!” Jim begins, and Kath admits she has not laughed so much for ages.
As Colin stands, ashamed, Jim explains that they were sitting in Kath’s shed, having a can and a chat, when the door opened and he burst in.
"He thought we were playing doctors and nurses!"
“He thought we were playing doctors and nurses!” shrieks Kath, and Colin explains that is what it sounded like to him.   She says, “We were discussing my cabbages!”
This is the last straw for Colin
Colin has had enough and tells Eileen, “All right, I quit!   Find someone else to be your little skivvy!” before marching out of the shop.
"Sorry if I embarrassed you"
Gaynor apologises if she embarrassed Elgan earlier, and he confirms that he can speak up for himself.   She hated to see him treated like that.
"This should be the ideal car for you"
Garry comes across with details of a car he has found, which the doctor should be able to have a look at by the end of the week.
Eileen arrives, in response to Garry’s phone call and goes upstairs.
"Don't you think you've had enough, Auntie Anita?"
Anita orders another drink;  Kelly can see that she is becoming inebriated, and asks her what is wrong.
"Garry has something to say, don't you, Garry?"
Dani thanks Eileen for coming over and informs her that Garry has something to say;  after some prompting,
He makes an abject apology
he says, “I’m sorry – I had no right to tell you I was going to the police, not without talking to Dani first.   It’s her choice.”
"I haven't forgiven her for anything . . ."
Dani confirms that she is not going to report Sioned, which is a great relief to Eileen, but Dani points out, “Don’t get me wrong – I haven’t forgiven her, not for what happened or the affair,
". . . but Garry has to take a lot of the blame"
“but I can see that Garry has to take a lot of the blame.   If it wasn’t for him, none of this would have happened.”   Eileen thanks them and leaves.
"Am I forgiven now?"
Garry asks if he is forgiven now;
"If you think it's going to be that easy . . ."
“If you think it’s going to be that easy, you can think again,” she advises him.
