2 August 2017

Dani is on her way to see Sioned
Dani passes the shop and asks Sioned if she would like to come over and talk babies, as Garry is away;  Eileen makes the excuse that Sioned has a headache,
Sioned wants to go to Dani's
but Sioned herself says she would love to come.   “We can discuss cravings, pelvic floors – anything,” says Dani.
"Don't worry – I'll be a good girl"
Sioned assures her mother that she will be a good girl, and helps herself to an apple,
"Vitamins - for the baby"
which she says is added vitamins for the baby.
Siôn wants to speak to Ffion . . .
Siôn rings the doorbell at Cysgod y Glyn,
. . . but she is out
but there is no reply, so he walks away.
"OK boys, panic over – I'm here!
Colin enters the shop, “OK boys, panic over – I’m here!” he tells them, and although Eileen welcomes him, Jim appears very morose.
Apparently he is going to run CwmFM as well
Britt urges Colin not to overdo it on his first day, adding that he has volunteered to look after CwmFM while Hywel is away in Canada.
Colin asks what Jim is doing today;
"That is a very good question"
“That is a very good question,” he replies pointedly, so Eileen gives him a newspaper to read, and a bar of  chocolate.
"I need a job, not chocolate!"
“I need a job, not chocolate!” he moans.
"Is your headache better?"
“Are you feeling better?” enquires Dani,
"That was Mam, fussing"
and is told that Sioned’s Mam was just fussing.
No, she does not look pregnant
“Just look at you – mid-term and you can hardly tell that you’re pregnant,” Dani comments, “I will be like a beached whale by the end.”
Sioned is almost tripped up by Dani asking when her 20 week scan is due;
"I hope Garry doesn't cry again!"
“I can’t wait for when my next scan is due – I hope Garry doesn’t cry again!   He’s a real softie deep down – there is more to him than people think.”
A conspiratorial smile
Sioned smiles knowingly.
Jim has soon finished reading the paper . . .
Up in the shop flat, Jim is wondering what to do next;  he notices that a piece of wallpaper is lifting,
. . . and thinks of something else to do
and tears it off, then takes down the picture, and removes some more paper.
"What are you doing, Jim?"
Eileen comes in and demands what he is doing.   “You’re always saying you want me to redecorate,” he replies,
"Leave it to me and go down to the shop"
“There’s no need to worry – just leave it to me,”
He is enjoying this
and proceeds to tear off some more.
"He's doing his best to change"
Siôn sees Ffion by the chippy and asks if she has heard anything from the police about Macs.   Again he insists that Macs is trying his best to change,
Ffion is not impressed
but she shakes her head.
"Tell them it was a misunderstanding"
“Just tell the police it was a misunderstanding,” he pleads once more, but Ffion walks away, telling him to stop hassling her.
Now they have an audience
Britt comes out of the chip shop and hears this;  Siôn says that they are just making plans for Arwen,
"Macs kidnapped my baby girl!"
but Ffion emphasises, “Macs kidnapped my baby girl – do you realise how serious that is?”
Siôn does not want this conversation to continue in front of witnesses, so he moves her along the street.   “Macs wants to spend some time with his child – he would never hurt her!   Show some tolerance, please!”
Ffion says she will think about it
Ffion says that she will think about it, and walks away.
"Push it out, screaming and swearing!"
Dani asks if Sioned has made a birthing plan;  she replies, “Yes, push it out, screaming and swearing!”   Dani has prepared a playlist, which she says is really cute,
"Who needs pain relief when you can have panpipes?"
and she shows the list on her phone.   “Who needs pain relief when you can have panpipes?” Sioned sarcastically remarks, “We can plan but we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
"Adele singing, and Garry holding my hand"
Dani maintains that with Adele singing, and Garry holding her hand, she will be fine.
Then she apologises for wittering on about Garry, realising that Sioned has to do it all on her own.   “So who is going to be with you at the birth?” she asks.
"I will find someone"
Sioned says that it will definitely not be her Mam, but she will find someone.   Dani offers to be with her, but she is not keen on this;  “I don’t want you to go through this on your own,” she insists, “Just think about it.
"You're so brave"
“You’re so brave, I don’t know how you do it.”
"It's Jim – he's stripping!"
Eileen goes to APD and tells Diane, “You have to help me – it’s Jim – he’s stripping.”
"What?   Out on the street?"
“What?   Out on the street?   He could be arrested!” shouts Diane, but Eileen points out that it is not his clothes, but wallpaper.
"He was hopeless in the shop"
She begs Diane to find him a job, or he will destroy the flat;  he was hopeless in the shop.
"But he's all right for us, is he?"
“But he’s all right for us, is he?” moans Diane;  Eileen stresses that he knows what he is doing at APD.
Diane points out that Dai has rejected him once,
"Please Diane, find him something!"
but Eileen continues to wail, “Please Diane, find him something or I won’t have a home left!”
Macs has found some £5 and £10 notes
At Y Felin, Macs is about to help himself to some money that he has found
"There's nothing to keep me here"
when his father returns, and urges him not to run away.   He replies, “There’s nothing to keep me here – I’ve let you down again.”   Siôn says that he has asked Ffion not to press charges,
"The police know that I took her"
but he points out, “The police know that I took her – is Ffion willing to say it was a misunderstanding?”
"I'm going to persuade Ffion"
Siôn confidently asserts that he will persuade her to do so, and tells Macs that he must stay here where his father can help him;
Macs does not rate his chances of success
he rather naïvely predicts that everything will be all right.
"You must come to my flat next time"
As they walk along the street in the rain, Sioned says that Dani must come to her flat next time.   Dani reiterates that she was serious about being there with her when the baby comes, but Sioned is sure that she will be fine.
"You don't know what's round the corner"
Dani assures her that things will get better;  “I never thought I would find someone else – but you don’t know what’s round the corner, do you?”   In the background, a taxi is in fact just coming round the corner,
Sioned steels herself for a quick shove . . .
and as Dani goes on, “I’m so lucky I found Garry!” Sioned looks as if she is about to push Dani under the wheels of the taxi.   Her mother can also be seen further up the street.
“He’s not perfect, but who is?   He loves me, and that is what matters,” continues Dani;
. . . but no, too late . . .
as the taxi passes them, she turns to look at Sioned, and so the opportunity has gone.
. . . and Sioned wonders what she almost did . . .
Sioned starts to walk home,
. . . then finds she has a witness
but then becomes aware of her mother watching her from outside Megan’s shop.
"You were going to push her in front of that car!"
Eileen goes straight up to Sioned’s flat;  “I saw you – you were going to push her in front of that car!”   Sioned accuses her of always thinking the worst.
"Life would be better without that Barbie doll around"
She admits, “All right – life would be better without that Barbie doll around – then Garry could really be with me, but I’d never kill her.   What do you think I am?”
"That's the problem – I'm not sure"
“That’s the problem – I’m not sure,” her mother replies.
Cadno is pleased to see Colin back in the shop;
Colin is back in the 'nerve centre'
“I’m fine – there’s nothing like being at the heart of the village,” he says, “In the nerve centre.   I’m the first to hear the gossip.”
"Yes, talking of gossip . . ."
Speaking of gossip, Britt advises them that she has heard that Macs is on the run –
Cadno is very concerned . . .
he kidnapped Arwen, from just outside the shop.
“I heard Siôn pleading with Ffion not to go to the police – between you and me, I think she’s going to agree as well,” she goes on.
. . . and dashes out of the shop
Cadno puts down her shopping and rushes out of the shop.
Ffion is scared of who it might be . . .
Ffion is cleaning the oven when the buzzer sounds;  she fears who it may be.
. . . and is relieved to hear Cadno's voice
She is relieved to hear that it is Cadno, and lets her and Eifion in.   “Where’s Arwen?” Cadno asks,
"You must press charges against Macs!"
“You must press charges against Macs!”
Ffion understands her concern,
"He's only interested in Arwen"
but points out that Macs is only interested in Arwen, and would not take another child.
"Well, he kidnapped Arthur!"
Cadno reveals that he kidnapped Arthur, years ago;  “You have to stop him – if he took another child, could you live with that?”
Jim is in his element
Diane visits the shop flat, where the wallpaper removal is in full swing, and Jim tells her that he is never idle.
"We could do with some help at APD"
“We’ve been busy at APD, too – we could do with some help, if you’re interested,” she tells him.
"I'm a bit busy at the moment"
He is reluctant, but she enquires what he is going to do when he has finished this room.
"Well, I could help you out"
“Well, I could help you out,” he agrees,
"You can start next week"
and Diane tells him he can start next week.
"Thank Eileen from me, will you?"
Jim smiles, “Diane, if you see Eileen on the way out, thank her from me, will you?   For persuading you to give me a job,” but Diane maintains that she has no idea what he is talking about.
The knock on the door does nothing to ease Macs' nerves
Macs is very nervous, but his father does not want to put pressure on Ffion;  there is a knock at the door,
"Calm down, Macs"
and Siôn tells Macs to calm down.
Ffion arrives, to tell Macs . . .
It is Ffion, who is surprised to see Macs there.   Siôn assures her he did not know where Macs was when he saw her.
. . . she will describe it as 'a misunderstanding' . . .
“I’ve made my decision – I’m going to tell the police it was all a misunderstanding – but I haven’t finished.
. . . but there is one condition
“I want you to leave Cwmderi – I can’t have you around until you’ve sorted yourself out.  You need professional help.   You leave – or I will tell the police!”
Macs has no option but to agree
Macs agrees that he will leave and has to sort himself out.
"Perhaps at some point in the future . . ."
She tells him, “Perhaps at some point in the future, when Macs is better – who knows?”   Then she takes from her bag a picture drawn by Arwen,
Arwen's portrait of Macs
and gives it to him;  as she leaves, he is in tears.
FORMIL – Lidl non-biological washing powder
Eileen calls on Dani as she is making a smoothie, and says she wants Dani to keep away from Sioned.
"You can't just barge in here"
“You can’t just barge in here and tell me what to do,” Dani replies, but Eileen appears serious and does not want things to go too far;  if anything happened, she would never forgive herself.   By now, Dani is confused, insisting that Sioned will be fine;
"Eileen, you're not making any sense"
“Eileen, you’re not making any sense,” she says.
Macs suspects that he is beyond help
Macs puts on his jacket, telling his father that he has no choice but to go, and that perhaps no-one can help him.
"If I can do it, so can you"
Siôn attempts to reassure him, “I’ve been through difficult times, and I got through them – if I can do it, so can you.   You’re going to sort yourself out, come back and be a father again – and a son.”
He gives his father one last hug . . .
Macs hugs him, then picks up his bag
. . . and then leaves Y Felin
and leaves the house.   Siôn stands and ponders,
Iolo, Macs and Huw
before looking at the photograph of his three sons.
Dani thinks she had better phone Sioned
Eileen insists that she wants Dani to listen to her, but she wants to phone Sioned.
"You'll only make matters worse"
“Please don’t – you’ll only make matters worse,” begs Eileen.   Dani sympathises that no mother wants her daughter to suffer like Sioned, and it is only natural for her to be worried.
"Things are going to be really tough for Sioned"
She points out that the next few months are going to be really tough for Sioned, and that is why she has offered to be her birthing partner.
"Garry is the baby's father!"
“Open your eyes,” pleads Eileen, “She wants Garry, not you!”   When Dani asks why, Eileen replies, “Because he’s the baby’s father!   He and Sioned have been hiding the truth from you for months.”
A look of horror
Dani looks absolutely horrified, and cannot accept this,
"Garry wouldn't do that!"
insisting that Garry would not do that, and Eileen is making it up.
Then Eileen mentions the £25,000
“Garry is the father, not Ed, and she’s not close to 20 weeks,” Eileen attempts to explain, but Dani will have none of it.   Nevertheless, Eileen presses on, “Garry gave her £25,000 to keep her mouth shut!”
"Get out, Eileen!"
Dani will not listen to any more of this and screams at Eileen to get out of the flat,
Dani's mind is in turmoil
then stands, looking very perplexed.
