24 August 2017

Tyler is very worried
As Tyler gazes out of the window, Iolo tells him that he knows what he has to do – phone the authorities – but he considers it would be betraying Liv.
"You'd be doing her a favour"
Iolo urges him to think of the baby;  “She needs to get off the drugs and take responsibility for the baby.   You’d be doing her a favour in the long run – you’ve got to try.”
Tyler acquiesces
Tyler reluctantly makes the phone call.
"How is Dani?"
In the Deri, Gethin asks Garry how Dani is;
"She's tougher than you think"
“Well, she’s been shaken up, but she’s tougher than you think,” Garry replies.
“If you ever hurt her again like that – I’m serious, Gar –
"You need to learn to keep your pants on!"
you need to learn to keep your pants on!” Gethin advises him, “I’ll be keeping an eye on you.”   When Gethin decides to have a pint,
"Shouldn't you be working in the garage?"
Garry suggests that he should be in the garage, working, but he points out that he is still on holiday until Monday.
"We've been very busy at the farm"
Cadno calls at Bryntirion, and Linda suspects she has been avoiding the place;  Cadno replies that the farm is busy, and when asked how things are between her and Eifion, she says that they have calmed down since he found the hidden tablets.
"Sorry I put you in that position"
Linda is sorry she put Cadno in such an awkward position, and agrees that she has not had an easy time about it from DJ.
Linda is gasping and wheezing
Then she begins gasping, unable to catch her breath, and wants Cadno to phone for the nurse.
Gethin is reluctant to help
“I’ve got another job for you,” says Garry, but Gethin is not sure whether he wants to do it;  “I’ll pay you in cash straightaway if you do it this afternoon,” Garry whispers,
"Will a hundred pounds ease your conscience?"
and enquires whether an extra hundred pounds will ease his conscience.
"I'll tell you what – make it two hundred!"
Gethin suggests upping it to £200, and Garry has to agree, saying that it is a BMW, and the keys are in the usual place.
Elgan thinks the car's starter is dodgy
Then the doctor queries the starter on the car he has just bought;  “It doesn’t always start,” he complains.
Elgan wants to know what is going on
When he turns round, he sees Anita;  “What exactly happened the other day at CwmFM?” he asks her,
"Have I done anything to offend you?"
“You said it was a phone-in on medical issues.”   She simply replies that they did not get any calls.   “Have I done anything to offend you?” he goes on.
“Why would you think that?” she enquires,
"Thanks to you, I made a fool of myself!"
“Well, thanks to you, I made a fool of myself at the Eisteddfod!” and she marches out of the pub.
"I hope holding the baby made her feel something"
“I should have insisted on getting her phone number,” frets Tyler, but Iolo assures him if he hassles her, she will be less likely to turn up.   “I hope holding the baby made her feel something, and she will want to see her again,” Tyler remarks, and then there is a knock on the door.
The social worker and a constable arrive
A social worker arrives, with a police constable;  Tyler apologises that there has been no sign of Liv. “She wanted to see the baby, so I took her to the hospital yesterday.   I told her to call here today, but who knows what she will do?”
"You aren't going to arrest her, are you?"
Iolo considers that she had been here once, so there is a good chance she will come again.   The social worker says it depends on what state she is in, and it assures them that Liv is not going to be arrested.
Linda does not want DJ to know
After the nurse has left, Linda says she does not want DJ to be told, and that she will feel better after a rest.
"How about if I make some cawl?"
Although she is not hungry, Cadno decides that she will make some cawl with fresh vegetables, and insists that Linda should eat something.
"Have you asked him to help you with the tablets?"
She pauses and asks, “You know when you said that you and DJ understand each other – does that mean you’ve asked him to help you with the tablets?”
"That's none of your business now"
Linda tells her not to worry about that business, as it is none of her business now.
"I wanted a word about Anita"
Elgan goes to Y Felin to see Siôn;  “I wanted a word about Anita, to be honest – you went to the Eisteddfod, didn’t you?   Well, since coming back,
"Her attitude has been nasty at times"
Anita’s attitude towards me has been very strange – nasty at times.   Do you have any idea why?   She said something about making a fool of herself, and blaming me.”
"She did something rather foolish"
Siôn reveals that she did something foolish, but cannot see why she would blame him;  “She had too much to drink at a gig, and she got up on stage to sing with the group.   She didn’t get a good response –
"Sounded like a cat being strangled!"
the singer said she sounded like a cat being strangled – and everyone applauded!”
The light is beginning to dawn
Elgan comments that it is all beginning to make sense.
Tyler updates his visitors
Tyler is convinced that seeing the baby yesterday made a difference;
"Deep down I know she wants to be the child's mother"
“And I know deep down she wants to be the child’s mother.”
Liv comes in, right on cue . . .
Then the back door opens, and Liv walks in.
. . . but when she sees who is there, she wants to leave again
When she sees the visitors, she feels that Tyler has let her down, but he stops her from running away.
Tyler urges her to accept the help that is being offered . . .
“Things won’t get better unless you accept help – we’re here to help you.   You can sort yourself out, Liv – please!”
. . . and she more-or-less agrees
She unenthusiastically nods her head.
Now Elgan's car refuses to start
Elgan has been unable to leave Y Felin, as the car refuses to start;  Siôn has not the faintest idea about cars.   Elgan moans, “I’ve only just bought it from Garry Monk – I need a car I can rely on.”
He berates Garry over the phone
He phones Garry to complain in the strongest possible terms,
"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
and is recommended to turn the ignition on and off again.
"I told you there was something wrong with it!"
“I told you earlier there was something wrong with it!” shouts Elgan, and Garry agrees to send someone over.
"Cowboy!"
The doctor’s bad-tempered diagnosis is, “Cowboy!”
Gethin appears to be relaxing
Garry goes straight to the garage, where Gethin is reading a magazine, and hurriedly hides a set of numberplates.
"The dashboard is like a Boeing 747!"
“Go over to Y Felin, to look at Dr Pritchard’s car.   The doc can’t get his head round the electrics – that dashboard is like a Boeing 747, and he’s the type of customer we need to please.”
"How about if the boss went round?"
Gethin suggests that if the boss himself went round, that would please him even more, but Garry admits he is not familiar with the car.
"Are you admitting you can't do something?"
“Are you admitting that you can’t do something?” laughs Gethin.   He reports that the new numberplates are on the BMW and that they match the logbook.
Gethin is scheming
As Garry returns to the Deri, Gethin smiles to himself.
"We're all here to help you"
Tyler tells Liv that the social worker will be calling now and again, to see how things are going.   “You have to accept that she is here to help you, like everyone else.”
Iolo is introduced to Liv
Then Iolo returns home and is at last introduced to Liv;  Tyler informs him, “She’s decided that she wants to move on, and I’ve said she can stay here.
They have to keep her under surveillance
As long as she sticks with the treatment, social services are happy with that, and we can keep an eye on her 24/7.
"The car is not talking to our computer"
The car has been returned to the garage, and Garry explains, “To put it simply, the car is not talking to our computer – we haven’t got the right software, and I may have to go to the dealer.”
"I can't be without a car for a week!"
Elgan protests that he cannot be without a car for a week, and Garry assures him he will sort out a hire car tomorrow.
The doctor looks at the other car in the garage, the BMW,
"How about that one, then?"
and asks, “How about this one?   If I have this one, you might make more of an effort to get mine back on the road!”   Garry agrees to let him have it for a few days.
"There is hope, Iolo"
Liv has gone upstairs for a shower;  Iolo is told that one of them has to stay in the house at all times, as it is important that Liv is not left on her own   Tyler is convinced that seeing the baby yesterday has had an effect on her, and believes that there is hope.
"But this is going to change our lives"
When Iolo comments that this is going to change their lives, Tyler snarls, “Do we leave her in a dirty hostel or throw her out on the street?   It’s only temporary, until she gets better.”   Iolo wonders exactly how long that will be.
"If we help her, she'll get better sooner"
Losing his temper, Tyler shouts, “I don’t know, do I?   If we help and support her, she’ll get better sooner, and then we can get on with our lives!”
Anita is doing the vacuuming
Anita is vacuuming when Elgan calls on her;
Elgan has been told what happened
“I don’t like to argue with anyone, Anita, but I think I know why you’re angry with me.   What was the nonsense on the radio and in the Deri?   I’ve been told what happened at the Eisteddfod by Siôn White.”
"I've never felt so embarrassed in my life . . ."
She replies, “I’ve never felt so embarrassed in my life!”   He suggests that it was not the best idea, especially after one or two drinks.
". . . and it was all your fault!"
She insists, “You told me I could sing – I thought it would be nice for everyone to hear me!”
He points out that he cannot be blamed for her embarrassment, but she is quite adamant that he is responsible;
"If you hadn't encouraged me . . ."
“If you hadn’t encouraged me, this wouldn’t have happened!”   He detects that something else is wrong, but again she will not change her opinion that he is to blame, so he turns and leaves the house.
The atmosphere at number 7 is rather strained
Liv comes downstairs after her shower and thanks them for letting her stay at the house.   She does not want to talk to Dani or to anyone else, or to see the baby yet.
"Take it easy, OK?"
“Take it easy, OK?   This won’t happen overnight!” she exclaims.
"You must stick to the treatment"
Tyler points out that she must do her best to stick to the treatment to get off the drugs, but she fears she might never be strong enough to get off them,
"I might never be able to look after the baby"
and might never be able to look after the baby, which causes Iolo some concern.
Linda's lunch is served
Linda is again feeling better, and comes over to the table for her lunch, which she says smells nice.
"You're looking after me as well as any nurse"
“I don’t know what came over me earlier – I’ve been a lot better since changing the dose.   You’re looking after me as well as any nurse.”
"I see you're knitting something"
Cadno notices that she has been knitting, and is told that it is a jumper for DJ, but Diane does not think she will finish it.   Cadno remembers some advice she was given;  “Live as if you’ll die tomorrow – farm as if you’ll live for ever.”
"I'm not going to be around much longer"
Linda regrets that she is not going to be around for much longer, and as soon as she accepts that, things will be easier for everyone.   “I get peace of mind from knowing that everything’s been arranged.”
"Arranging when the end comes?"
Cadno asks if that means arranging when the end comes, as she is sure DJ would not want her to suffer.
"You can do something to help me . . ."
Linda confesses that DJ has agreed to help her, and tells Cadno she can do something for her too – to support DJ,
". . . make sure DJ is all right when I've gone"
and make sure he is all right after she has gone.   Cadno agrees to do that.
