22 August 2017 (2nd)

"You can do these if you like"
At Maes-y-Deri, Mathew is ironing a shirt, but declines the invitation to iron the rest of Vicky’s washing, as he has to go to work soon.
Debbie is looking for cheap shoes
Debbie is looking online for some comfortable shoes, as she cannot afford to pay shop prices;  “We have to look for bargains on the internet, as money is short,” she says.
"He would never steal your money!"
“Give Mathew a break,” replies Vicky, “How many times must I say it?   He would never steal your money!”   Debbie points out that no-one else was about.
"Are you going to accuse me of stealing it?"
“I was there – are you going to accuse me of stealing?” demands Vicky, and her mother suggests that they were both in on it.
"I'm starting to regret letting you move in"
“I’m starting to regret letting you move in,” Debbie grumbles, and Mathew decides that he is going. Vicky says that she will do the same, and is told, “I’m sure you’ll find a great place with my £50!”
Diane hears no a word of what Mark is saying . . .
At APD, Mark is telling Diane about the missing money, but she is not listening,
. . . as she is concentrating on a letter from the council
as she is reading an improvement notice from the council.   When Dai and Jason come in, after some painting following the fire, she puts the letter back into its envelope.
"What a waste of paper!"
Dai scoffs at the letter;  “Another improvement notice – what a waste of paper!”
"If you'd stuck to the first notice . . ."
Jason comments that if he had stuck to the first one, and not kept gas in a paint shop, there would be no problem.
Dai is off on another rant
Dai rants, “A man struggles to make a penny or two in his life, and some idiot who spent a few years in college reading comics turns up, thinking he knows the blooming lot!”
"Just admit everything to Mam"
Jason’s advice is, “If I were you, I’d just admit everything to Mam.”   Dai considers that a wife can be worse than a man in a suit.   “She’ll find out, you know, and then you’ll be sleeping in the spare room again,” Jason predicts,
Forget about it and it will go away
but Dai insists that he will deal with this, and adds the letter to the contents of the box file.
When Mark arrives home, he finds that Mathew has packed his bag and is leaving – furthermore Vicky is coming with him;
"She's accused Vicky of stealing now!"
“She’s accused Vicky of stealing now,” Mathew tells him, “We shall go to Penrhewl – I’ve got family that will look after me.
"When Vicky comes back, we will sort this out"
Mark decides that when Vicky comes back from the village they will sort this nonsense out.
“No – I know when I’m not welcome,” Mathew tells him, “I will come back to get my stuff after work.”
Mark is not happy with Debbie
Mark is not impressed with what Debbie has done, and will miss little Nicky;  she looks rather crestfallen.
Another peace offering – a picnic basket
Garry presents Dani with a wicker picnic basket;.  “We can have picnics in style now – no more sandwiches in plastic carriers.   We can go this afternoon.”
"You're trying too hard, Garry"
She stops him, “You’re trying too hard – having you spoil me like this, it just reminds me of why you’re doing it – and I’m trying to forget!”
"Being stuck here doesn't help"
He replies that being stuck here does not help, but she is not yet ready to face people.   Garry insists that it is the only way of proving to people that they are sticking together – nothing and no-one must come between them.
"People are talking about us!"
“But people know what you did, and they’re talking about us – it’s embarrassing,” she stresses;  he maintains that they will talk more if they do not see them together.   “I’ll go down to the bar when I’m ready, OK?” she snaps,
"Don't put pressure on me!"
“Please don’t put pressure on me!”
At APD, Dai tells Diane that he fancies chicken curry for lunch;
"Anything interesting in the post today?"
she asks, “Was there anything interesting in the post today?”
"The usual rubbish – like stairlifts"
He replies that it was just the usual rubbish.   “So there was nothing important then –
"You lied to me, Dai!"
“there is nothing in that envelope you’ve hidden in the box?” she goes on, “You lied to me!”
"It's standard procedure after a fire"
He blusters that it is just standard procedure after a fire, but she points out that the letter says they have already had one warning about gas storage, eighteen months ago.
Then Dai starts blaming Jason
Jason comes across to the counter, as Dai blames him for ordering too many cylinders, and contests this claim very vigorously.
Diane informs him that she is not as stupid as he thinks, and rages at him, “I gave you a chance to tell the truth – someone could have been injured.
"When are you going to learn?"
“When are you going to learn that you can’t cut corners?”
"Have you seen the price of these?"
At the Deri bar, Mathew is looking at property details, and lamenting that there is not much choice at Tomos ac Ellis, not at prices they can afford.   Eifion asks if they are planning to settle down, and Vicky tells him they need a break from Mam.
Eifion does not want them at Penrhewl
Mathew begs Eifion to let them stay temporarily at Penrhewl, but he says it is not fair on Cadno and the boys.   “A few nights will turn into months.   Be grateful you’re still not staying upstairs here – saucepans must be flying around that flat – are they still together?”
Then Eifion wants to see the catfight . . .
Then Eifion wants to see the video of the fight between Dani and Sioned;  Vicky tells him it was all over in a few seconds, and again Mathew urges her to delete it, as it is not fair on Dani or Sioned.
. . . which does not impress Dani
Dani has just ventured downstairs and overhears, as Vicky decides that she will delete it.
Garry snatches the phone . . .
However, before she can do so, Garry snatches the phone, and when he sees the video, he throws the phone to the floor
. . . and inflicts some terminal damage
and stamps upon it several times.   “Dani and I could have lost that baby – you should never have filmed it!   You should have helped her.
"If that video finds its way on to the internet . . ."
“If that video finds its way on to the internet, you two will be out of a job, understand?”
"I feel guilty enough as it is, Mark"
Debbie is feeling guilty, and Mark points out they could go anywhere, as she made terrible accusations,
"She could stop you seeing Nicky"
and Vicky could stop her seeing Nicky, if she is half as stubborn as her mother.   Debbie grabs her phone to contact Vicky and eat humble pie,
"The phone's turned off!"
but finds Vicky’s phone is switched off, so she sends a text instead.
"You didn't have to wreck her phone!"
In the Deri flat, Dani exclaims that Garry has given people more reason to talk now, but he says he only flipped because Vicky filmed the attack.   “You didn’t have to wreck her phone!” she shouts, but Garry considers it worth it if it stopped the video getting on the internet.
"Look, Vicky was not trying to embarrass you"
Mathew comes up to point out that Vicky was not trying to embarrass them.   Dani’s reply is that Garry will supply a new phone;  he says he has plenty of old ones and she can have one of those.
Dani instructs Garry to replace the phone
“Make sure it’s a decent one – a smartphone!” she instructs.
Garry tells Mathew he can go now
Mathew is grateful as he does not like Vicky being upset.
"And so can you – I want some peace"
Then Dani tells Garry to go too, as she wants some peace.
"There's that hostel at Cwrtmynach"
Vicky learns that a council house will not come up for ages, but there is a place at the hostel in Cwrtmynach;
"You get all sorts there"
Eifion comments that it is a dump, and all sorts go there, so it is no place for Nicky.
Garry obediently provides a replacement
Garry comes down and hands Vicky a replacement phone, into which he has already put the SIM.
"Please let us come to Penrhewl"
“We have nowhere else to stay tonight, please let us come to Penrhewl,” pleads Mathew,
Vicky does not regard that 'Sorry' as being genuine
and then Debbie’s very brief text, ‘Sorry’, appears on Vicky’s phone.   Eifion tells them that all is forgiven and they can go home, but Vicky insists that she will not forgive her mother so easily,
"The hostel will have to do for tonight"
and that she and Mathew are going to stick together.   The hostel will have to do for tonight.
Eifion produces a key to Hywel's and Sheryl's house
Eifion reveals that after selling the house to Hywel and Sheryl, he forgot to give them one key;  “If you’re stuck, you can crash there, but not a word to anyone.   Just don’t make a mess, and leave the place as you find it.
"Use the back door and be quiet"
“Use the back door and be quiet – no-one will know.”
"If he didn't do stupid things, he wouldn't be Dai"
“We know what Dai’s like – if he didn’t do these stupid things, he wouldn’t be Dai!” Jason tells Diane, “Don’t let something small like this come between you – arguing has never made anyone feel better, has it?”
"It's a good job you're here"
She says it is a good job he is here or she would have lost her temper completely.
Dai comes in with skinny cappuccino for Diane;  “As long as you say sorry, I’ll forgive you,” she informs him,
"Sorry, Diane"
and he does indeed say sorry.
"I'll make sure APD sticks to the rules"
Jason states that he will make sure that APD sticks to the rules and regulations from now on.   Then he picks up the letter and reads it.
“Have you read all of this?” he demands,
"I'd need a magnifying glass for that small print"
and Dai remarks that he needs a magnifying glass to see that small print.   “I’d contact a solicitor if I were you,” Jason continues, “Dai, what’s wrong with you?   It says here that the council is taking us to court – there, at the bottom!”
"Taking us to court?"
After checking it, Diane decides she need something stronger than a coffee.
Eifion is winding up Garry;  “I can believe that Sioned did all the chasing  – not that it’s any consolation to Dani.   How long did this affair last, then?”
"It was not an affair"
Garry tells him that it was not an affair.
"She tried that on with me – you were second choice!"
“Oh, a one-night stand – she tried it on with me too a few months ago,” says Eifion, I said no – you were second choice, then!”
Mark reports to Debbie that Nicky is asleep, and the others are packing;  “They don’t want to talk.”
"There is nothing to discuss"
When Vicky and Mathew come downstairs they insist that there is nothing to discuss, as they have found a place at a hostel, which is a bit of a dump, but it will have to do.
"I don't think you're really sorry"
Vicky does not think that her mother is truly sorry, and maintains that this was Nicky’s home, but is no longer.   She pointedly thanks Mark for his help, but when Debbie offers to babysit for them, she declines the offer;  “I’m sure Garry will give us a separate shifts – he owes me a favour.”
"Where did you get the money to buy that?"
When Debbie sees that Vicky has a different phone, she demands, “Where did you get the money to buy that?”
"You're pathetic!"
Vicky describes her mother as pathetic, and goes to get Nicky, as she is not staying here another second.
Diaen predicts a loss of trade for APD
Diane remarks that it is quiet at APD;  “And it will be quiet, too.   Who will do business with a company embroiled in a scandal?”
"Everyone knows APD's high standards"
Dai insists that everyone knows APD’s high standards, but she goes on, “You’ve put the people of this village at risk – do you realise we could be facing a substantial fine?”
"Don't be so dramatic!"
but he says she is being dramatic.
Diane adds, “As a business partner, I feel responsible.
"This will affect my credibility"
“I don’t know how I’m going to do my work as a community councillor.”
His reply to this is, “Life was much easier when women did what women are supposed to do – concentrate on how many eggs to put in pancake mix, and leave the important decisions in life for men to sort out.”   She observes that the man sitting next to her is not doing a good job of sorting anything.
Dai screws up the letter
“If the council takes this to court, I’ll eat a bag of cement,” vows Dai, crumpling up the letter and throwing it away.
They have moved in next door to the Deri
In Hywel’s and Sheryl’s house, next door to the Deri,
Mathew takes some reference photos
Mathew takes some photos, as they have to leave the place exactly as they found it.
"We're only squatters, really"
Vicky feels that she will not be able to relax, as they are squatters really.   “I’ve had a shock – rents are so high – it would be better if I quit the job and live on benefits.
"I could go on benefits"
“Maybe I could do that, and you might get some of my shifts at the Deri.”
Mathew suggests that he could look after Nicky while she is doing her shifts, but when she points out that this would involve changing nappies, feeding him, putting him to sleep,
Mathew does not relish the changing nappies bit
he goes off the idea, as he would never forgive himself if something happened to Nicky.
"Stand on our own two feet"  (squatting and on benefits?)
Vicky will not entertain the idea of going back to Maes-y-Deri;  “You and me are going to prove to everyone that we can stand on our own two feet, right?”
