31 July 2017

Kelly looks full of the joys of spring
Kelly rushes into the house in a happy mood,
She is about to get something from her bag
and is about to remove something from her bag when Anita comes downstairs looking for wellies.   Kelly asks why she needs them,
"I need wellies for the Eisteddfod"
and is told that it is for the Eisteddfod;  she needs to check that she has everything.   “I will have to go to town – do you want to come?”
"Sorry, I've got things to do"
Kelly refuses the invitation, saying that she has things to do, and suggesting that they have a day out when Anita returns from the Eisteddfod.
Anita thinks Kelly may be rather optimistic
“You never know, we might need to buy baby stuff by then – there is nothing wrong with positive thinking!”
Kelly has a 'Sure Signal' pregnancy test
When Anita has returned upstairs, Kelly takes out a ‘Sure Signal’ pregnancy test from her bag, and feels positive about it.
"Has Arwen been asking about me?"
As Ffion comes out of the shop, Macs asks her how Arwen is, and whether she has been asking about him.
"I misread the signals"
Ffion replies, “No, not a word – children forget quickly – unlike adults!”   He apologises for trying to kiss her, alleging that he misread the signals;
"There were no signals!"
she is quite clear, “There were no signals!”
He pleads to see Arwen again, as he has a doll for her,
"I don't want you anywhere near us!"
but Ffion is  adamant, “No, Macs, I don’t want you anywhere near me or Arwen!”
Gwyneth smiles maliciously
Gwyneth, who has been listening to this from the shop doorway, smiles at Macs’ discomfiture.
"Elgan, we have to sort this out!"
At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor makes a phone call;  “Elgan, I know you’re busy, but please phone me back – we have to sort this out!”
What is Gethin doing at home – they are short-staffed at the garage
Ffion arrives home, where Gethin is doing some tidying up, as Arwen is at the holiday club this morning, and he thought he could spend some time with Ffion, if she agrees.
"I found this doll from Macs"
He tells her that he found a bag outside, containing a doll, which he assumes is from Macs.
"He won't be seeing Arwen again"
“He won’t be seeing Arwen again,” she informs him, “It didn’t work out.   What do you fancy doing this morning – shall we go for a walk?”   Gethin wants to know why she has changed her mind about Arwen getting to know her father.
"Don't do it just to keep me happy"
He stresses that he does not want her to stop Arwen seeing her father, just to keep him happy, but she replies that this is not the reason.   “It’s not doing her any good – she has been clingy after being with him.
"She doesn't need him – she's got you!"
“Something has rattled her, and I think it’s Macs.   She doesn’t need him in her life – she’s got you!”
"I think I'm preggers"
Kelly arrives at number 7 in a nervous state;  “I think I’m preggers,” she announces, and Tyler asks her why she thinks that.   “Auntie Anita was cooking fish last night, and my stomach was churning.   And I feel different – my boobs are really . . .”
"Too much information, Kelly!"
Tyler thinks this is too much information, but Iolo is quite excited, and asks whether she has taken a test.
"I thought you'd better do it with me"
She removes the test from her bag and tells them, “I thought you’d better do it with me – not in the actual bathroom, obviously.”
Tyler wants to know why the rush
Tyler looks at the box which is inscribed ‘early detection’ and wonders why she does not want to wait for a few days.   “This could be it!” Kelly replies, but Tyler reads on the box that it is not totally reliable.   Undeterred, Kelly asks if they are ready, and hurries off upstairs.
"Can you pick up Arwen at lunchtime?"
Ffion joins Gethin on the sofa;  she asks him to pick up Arwen at lunchtime and take her to park, which will give Ffion the chance to do some shopping.
"Arwen is the most important one"
He replies that Arwen is more important than anything;
"You're a better father than Macs will ever be"
“You’re a better father than Macs will ever be,” she tells him, and he appreciates the fact that she trusts him again.
The expectant father paces up and down
Iolo is very restive, and cannot sit still;  “It’s taking ages,” he worries, “Do you think we should try to help her?”
"Oh yes – she'd really appreciate that!"
Tyler says that she would really appreciate them taking pints of water upstairs on a tray,
Iolo does sit down – momentarily
and urges Iolo to sit down.
Negative test result
But then Kelly comes downstairs, so he jumps up again;  Kelly sadly shakes her head,
"Sorry I raised your hopes"
and apologises for raising their hopes.   Iolo consoles her that if she is not pregnant,
"We'll try again next month"
they will try again next month;
A consoling hug from Iolo . . .
he hugs her,
. . . while Tyler looks rather ambivalent
while Tyler does not look very impressed.   After she has gone, Iolo picks up his bag and leaves for work.
Gwyneth checks her watch
In the waiting room at the surgery, Gwyneth looks impatiently at her watch;  Gaynor comes in, telling the receptionist that she wants a quick word with Dr Pritchard.
"I've been waiting ages . . ."
Gwyneth is quick to object, pointing out that she has been waiting here for ages,
". . . you're not jumping the queue!"
and Gaynor is not going to jump the queue.
The doctor speaks sternly to them
The doctor emerges from his room and tells them to stop arguing;  he takes Gaynor aside,
"I shall die of old age, at this rate!"
while Gwyneth complains that she will die of old age, at this rate.
"You can't come here like this"
Elgan warns Gaynor that she cannot come to the surgery like this, but she demands whether he will be recording his patients today.
"I want the truth, or I'm phoning the police"
“I just want the truth, or I’m phoning the police,” she tells him,
"I should lose everything, then"
but he protests that he would lose everything.   “I don’t want to contact the police, but you’re not giving me much choice,” she goes on,
Gaynor wants a satisfactory explanation
“If you don’t give me a satisfactory explanation, I shall phone them,” then she leaves.
Tyler peruses the surrogacy contract
Tyler is reading the ‘Traditional Surrogacy Pre-conception Contract’ which was drawn up by the solicitor;  he hides it when Iolo returns from work.
"Moping around isn't going to change anything"
“Moping around isn’t going to change anything,” says Iolo, “Come on, there will be another chance.
"We should go and see Kelly"
“I thought after dinner we could go and see Kelly – I don’t want her to be on her own, I would like her to know that we are thinking of her.”
"We don't have to go"
Tyler suggests that he could send a text;  they do not have to go there.   Iolo continues, “You saw how disappointed she was,”
"She's not the first to have a negative test"
but Tyler points out she is not the first woman to have a negative pregnancy test, and refuses to go over there.
"I'm glad she isn't pregnant!"
He suddenly bursts out, “I’m glad she isn’t pregnant!   I want us to be parents, but I’m not sure I want one with Kelly.”
"We agreed, Tyler!"
Iolo is offended, reminding Tyler that they have agreed.   He rages, “She’s much too intense – she’s always here, coming over every day!   I could tell myself it will get better, but I doubt that.
"We don't have to have Kelly in the mix"
“We don’t have to have Kelly in the mix – there are other options.”
Iolo insists that they have to talk to her and explain how he feels, so they can give her the chance to change, but Tyler is doubtful whether this can happen.   Iolo is nevertheless adamant that they talk to her about it today.
"Period pains"
Kelly opens the door of number 10 to admit them;  then she takes some tablets, explaining she is suffering from period pains.   “If I had waited a couple of hours, I would have saved a fortune – tests are expensive.”
"I want your baby, not your money!"
When Iolo offers to pay, she tells him, “It’s your baby I want, not your money.   I’ve been looking at more tips about conceiving.”
Tyler tells her a thing or two
Tyler stops her, pointing out that this is too intense, but she pleads that she only wants this to work.   “I don’t want to hurt you, but you always want to talk about it,” complains Tyler, “You text, plan picnics – you wanted to move in with us.”
"I want you to bond with the baby!"
Kelly shouts back, “Because I want you to bond with the baby – but I’m totally fine if you don’t.”
"I don't want a baby with you!"
Tyler forcefully declares that he cannot do this – he does not want a baby with her.
"But it was all planned"
In tears, she protests that they have planned it all, and are excited.
When he replies that he has changed his mind, she refers him to the contract,
"No contract is going to force me to have a baby with you!"
but he tears it up, exclaiming, “No contract is going to force me to have a baby with you, OK?”   He walks out of the house, and Iolo runs after him.
Macs ponders that things are not going his way
Macs sits dejectedly in the café, when Gwyneth comes in and gloats, “How are you enjoying being a father?
"Arwen's lovely, isn't she?"
“Arwen’s lovely, isn’t she?   I’m sure you dote on her.
"You're not allowed to see her!"
“You’re not allowed to see her – that’s what the argument was about!”   He tells her to go, and she does so, still smiling broadly.
He looks at his photo of Arwen
He looks at the photo of Arwen on his phone and wonders what to do next.
"I want a family, but not like this"
Back at number 7, Tyler demands what Iolo expected him to say;  “I want a family, but not like this.”
"You should have discussed it with me"
Iolo argues that they should have made this decision together, as he still wants to do this, and so does Kelly.   “So off you go and have a baby without me!” snarls Tyler.
"Kelly's breaking her heart"
“Kelly is breaking her heart, thanks to you,” Iolo reminds him, but is told that it is better that it happens now than when the baby arrives,
"I can't help the way I feel"
and Tyler cannot help the way he feels.   “And how do think Kelly and I feel?” enquires Iolo.   Tyler insists that this is not about them, it is about the baby, who would suffer in the end.
"There are so many types of wellingtons!"
Anita returns from her shopping trip, wondering at the number of types of wellingtons there are;
She selected this floral pair
she has selected a multicoloured pair, but then asks Kelly what is wrong.
"I want a baby, Auntie Anita!"
“I want a baby, Auntie Anita,” she replies, and Anita replies that it takes patience – and a couple of other things as well.
"Tyler has changed his mind"
As she once again breaks down in tears, Kelly admits, “Tyler has changed his mind – this morning, everything was great.
"I'd even convinced myself I was preggers"
“I was really excited – I’d even convinced myself I was preggers – stupid!   I wanted to find out with Iolo and Tyler.   I thought it would be special, but the test was negative, and now Tyler doesn’t want a baby at all!”
"It's only a temporary wobble"
Anita assumes that this was just a temporary wobble, and that he will change his mind again.   She tries to comfort Kelly,
"It's over, Auntie Anita!"
who sobs, “It’s over, Auntie Anita!”
Gaynor comes downstairs with a basket full of washing,
Gaynor is horrified to find someone in her house
and is startled to see Elgan waiting for her.   He says that he rang the bell, but there was no answer;  “Look, you’re right – it’s time I was honest with you,” he begins, “I hoped I wouldn’t drag you into my mess,
"I have a confession to make"
“but I have a confession to make.”
Arwen is unimpressed by this talk of magic apples
Outside the shop, Gethin tells Arwen, “You’ll have magic powers after eating these – all the superheroes eat fruit!”   She appears to treat this allegation with scepticism.   His phone rings, and he finds that it is Ffion calling.
There is a Peeping Tom watching them
Across the street, from his vantage point in the café, Macs watches them.
Arwen looks into the camera
Gethin cannot hear what Ffion is saying, and moves nearer to the alley, while Arwen stands by the flower display outside the shop.
"OK, I'll get some cash"
Gethin agrees to get some money from the cash machine.
Macs decides what he is going to do next
Again Macs looks at Arwen, then gets up from his seat.
