11 January 2017

"Someone's been moving everything around"
Down in the Deri cellar, Garry moans that he cannot find the tonics he is looking for, and wonders whether Dani or Britt moved everything;
"It was Mathew!"
“Actually, it was Mathew!” Dani tells him, “You’re angry because it was his idea!”
"You think the sun shines out of his . . ."
Garry informs her, “No, I’m angry because you think the sun shines out of his . . .” but gets no further,
He pulls a face at Dani
as Dani warns that jealousy does not suit him.
Jim has gone missing
Eileen has just got up, and cannot find Jim in the flat;  she phones his number, but only hears the recorded message.
The squabbling starts at breakfast
At the Maes-y-Deri breakfast table, Dol asks if Kath has some personal problem, as she has been up and downstairs all night.   Kath replies that she was thirsty;
"I get thirsty, usually when I'm at the bar!"
“I get that too, usually when I’m at the bar!” quips Dol, “A girl needs her beauty sleep you know.”
"She was snoring like a pig at five this morning!"
Kath remarks that Dol was snoring like a pig at five this morning, and Dol resents being described in this way.
These two are getting on Mark's nerves
Mark has had enough;  “Mam, go out for a walk, will you!”   Then he turns to Dol;  “And you, go to work, before Sara sacks you – again!   Get out of my sight, the pair of you!”
"If I see him, I'll give you a shout"
Eileen meets Kelly in the street and asks if she has seen Jim, as he went out without telling her;  Kelly says that may indicate he is getting better.
"Tyler, we have to talk"
Ed tells Tyler that they have to talk, and meets with a rebuff;  eventually,
"All right – at the Deri tonight"
Tyler agrees to listen to what he has to say at the Deri tonight, but does not want any more lies.
Garry wants some assistance
Chester is waiting by the bus stop when Garry asks him to help with sorting out the Deri cellar, offering him a financial incentive.   “Nice try,” replies Chester, “Get me to work for you so you can lecture me!”   Then he reconsiders, “Another tenner, and I’ll do it!”
"Another twenty, if you do it at lunchtime!"
Garry offers, “Another £20 if you do it at lunchtime!”   Chester takes the money, but reminds Garry he is only doing this for Mam’s sake.
"All you do is wind each other up!"
When Kath returns to Maes-y-Deri, Mark moans at her that all she and Dol do is wind each other up;  “Before you start protesting, I shall say the same to her!”   Kath once again points out that this is her house;
"I know what you did to Stacey!"
he answers, “You’re just like a broken record – but I know what you did to Stacey, so you should be grateful I let you in the door.”
She pops another tablet
While Mark watches the TV, she takes another tablet.
"Sorry if I upset you yesterday"
Eileen leaves a message for Jim;  “I’m worried about you – phone me back.   I’m sorry if I upset you yesterday – come home so we can talk.”
"They're birds of a feather"
Kelly emerges from the shop with 4 pints of milk for the café and encounters Mark, who is complaining about Dol and Kath;  “I bet they’re getting on like a house on fire!” she jokes, “They’re birds of a feather.”
"They can't agree about anything!"
Mark says they cannot agree about anything, and Kelly advises he should send Kath home;  he cannot bring himself to do that, so she suggests plan B – send Dol home.
Look who is lurking in the alley
“She has nowhere to go – we’re the only ones who will put up with her!” replies Mark, exasperated.
"There's only one thing you can do"
Kelly concludes that there is only one other thing to do;
"Yes – put up with both dragons!"
“Yes, I have to put up with both dragons!” sighs Mark,
Kath seems to be offended by this
unaware that his mother has been listening to this conversation from the alley, and she does not appear pleased.
"She's like a zombie, banging about all night!"
In the Deri, Dol is complaining about Kath to Dani;  “I’ve never seen anything like it – she’s like a zombie all night, banging about, and then sleeps all day.   And you should hear her snoring – like a volcano!”
"Chester's at school, isn't he?"
Garry comes in and is angry that Chester has not turned up to help him, in spite of the cash.
"That's a schoolboy error – money up front!"
Dol comments, “That’s a schoolboy error – money up front!”   Garry will have to do the job himself, and Dani explains his demeanour by saying he is tired after Greece.
"I wish Kath would go to Greece!"
“I wish Kath would go to Greece,” groans Dol, “Then I could get my bed back!    I’m afraid to ask how long she’s staying, in case I’m disappointed with the answer.”
Last time it was a gearbox – now a beer barrel!
Hearing an anguished yell from the cellar, Dani runs to investigate, and discovers Garry has become trapped under a barrel, which has fallen on his leg.   He says a bone has been broken, as he heard a crack, and urges her to call an ambulance.
He loses consciousness, much to Dani's alarm
Then he goes quiet, having lost consciousness.
Dol obviously believes in free refills
Meanwhile, Dol takes advantage of Dani’s absence by leaning over the bar and refilling her glass with Carlsberg.
Dani is in a state of panic
When Dani returns to phone for help, Dol offers her first aid experience;
"I saved a woman from a manhole once"
“I saved a woman from a manhole once,” she boasts,
Dani thinks the job should be done by professionals
but Dani prefers to call on the ambulance service.
Mark comes into the Deri and is sent downstairs to keep Garry company.
"I'm in charge!"
After phoning, Dani also goes down, leaving Dol in charge of the bar.
Garry is in considerable pain
By this time, Garry has managed to move the barrel off his leg, but is in considerable pain;  Mark advises he has fractured it,
"Are you a doctor, then?"
and Garry demands, “Are you a doctor, then?”   He is not happy to hear that Dol is in charge upstairs,
They attempt to hoist him to his feet
and wants to see Chester as soon as he gets back.
Jim looks at one of Courtney's books
Eileen finds Jim in Courtney’s bedroom, looking at one of her books.   He thinks that doing this is making him feel better;
"Courtney would want to give this to a charity shop"
“Courtney would want me to give all this to a charity shop, to help other people – that would be the best.”
"But you read this book to her . . ."
Picking up a book, Eileen says, “But you read this to her when she was a little girl,
". . . and I gave her this jewellery box"
and this jewellery box I gave to her.   I chose these things to give to her – I have to keep them to remember her by.”
Jim wants it all to go . . .
Jim seems set on getting rid of everything,
. . . but Eileen resists his wishes
but Eileen insists, “No, Jim – I know how hard it is, but one day you’ll be glad –
"It's important for you to keep some things"
it’s important for you to keep some things, trust me.”
"Last orders, please!"
Dol enjoys playing the barmaid,
She gets herself a whisky
helping herself to a whisky from the optic.   Kath comes in and is told that she is looking after the bar for Dani;
"You're drinking the profits!"
“Helping yourself, you mean!” snarls Kath, “There’s no stopping you – Garry’s out there on a stretcher and you’re drinking the profits!”
"He was screaming with pain!"
Dani comes in, reporting that Garry was screaming with the pain, and his foot was so swollen they could not take off his shoe.   Kath is at great pains to tell her that Dol was helping herself to the optics,
"It was only one whisky!"
but Dol insists it was just one whisky.   “That’s all right – have another one for helping out!” Dani tells her.
Mark has accompanied Garry to the hospital, and Dol comments, “He’ll be all right with our Mark – he’s a good boy!”
"He's not your Mark!"
Kath exclaims, “He’s not your Mark!
"He said you're an old dragon!"
Anyway, I heard him say that you’re an old dragon – and old, ugly dragon, who scrounges from everyone! See, even ‘good boy’ Mark is fed up with you!   We’re all fed up with you being in the way at Maes-y-Deri! I want you out by the end of the week – it’s my house!”
Dol is hurt by this comment
Making sure to drink up her whisky first, Dol walks out, and Dani remarks that Kath is being very mature.
"Did Mark call me a dragon?"
Dol goes to the café, where she asks Kelly if Mark had called her a dragon.
"Er . . . possibly"
Kelly tries to be non-committal;  “After all I’ve done for him!   He’s his mother’s son all right!   She’s kicked me out now!”   Kelly points out that the house is a bit crowded, but Dol reminds her, “I was there first – Kath just gatecrashed!”
Kelly maintains that they are too much alike – two peas in a pod,
"She's off her head!"
but Dol’s opinion is, “We’re like chalk and cheese – and she’s off her head!”
Mark rabbits on about breaking his arm
In the hospital waiting room, Garry is still in a lot of pain as Mark recalls the time when he climbed on a pile of bricks in the garden, fell and broke his arm,
"Look, there's the scar"
showing the scar that was left.   The arm was in plaster for weeks, and he learned to write with his right hand.   “Mam told me off for breaking it – and now she’s back in Cwmderi, quarrelling with everyone!”
"Is there anything I can do?"
Seeing Garry’s pained look, he asks if there is anything he can do;
"Yes – shut up!"
he is told most emphatically, “Yes – shut up!”
As soon as Kath comes in the door – another tablet . . .
Dol hides in the kitchen at Maes-y-Deri when Kath comes in and immediately takes another tablet,
. . . but someone is watching
witnessed by Dol;  she then slams the back door, pretending she has just come in.
"I hope you've come to pack!"
“I hope you’ve come to pack – I want you out by the end of the week!” she is told.
"Where's Garry?"
Chester arrives at the Deri, looking for Garry;
"I wouldn't go near him for a while!"
“He’s in hospital because of you – and I wouldn’t go near him for a while!” Dani tells him.
"How is Jim?"
Then she asks Eileen how Jim is, and is informed that he has taken Courtney’s things to a charity shop in Swansea;  “He didn’t want to take it to Maenan, and see people wearing her clothes,” explains Eileen.
Jim looks better than for some time
Then Jim comes in, actually smiling;  Dani gives him a pint on the house, as it so nice to see him.
"Say what you have to say, then!"
Tyler has arrived;  he tells Ed, “Say what you have to say, so that I can leave.”
"Sioned can be unreasonable"
Ed begins by saying that Sioned has problems and can be unreasonable.   “That’s why you hit her?” asks Tyler,
"I've seen the bruises"
“I’ve seen the bruises – I thought you wanted to admit that, not to say it’s Sioned’s fault.   That’s what bullies do – blame the victim!”
"They're self-inflicted"
Ed pleads, “I am the victim – the bruises are self-harm.   I don’t know why she does it, but it’s been going on for months – she is turning everyone against me!”   Tyler demands why he does not simply tell her where to go.
"Something happened – I can't tell you what"
“Something happened – I can’t tell you what,” agonises Ed, “You have to believe me, Tyler, I’d never hurt Sioned!”   Tyler replies that is not good enough, and he wants nothing more to do with Ed.
Yes, Kath is out like a light
At Maes-y-Deri, after checking that Kath is soundly asleep on the sofa, Dol looks in her handbag,
There are several of these in her handbag . . .
extricates the white plastic bag and finds boxes of tablets inside.
. . . and Dol takes possession of them
She looks concerned and takes the bag into the kitchen.
