"I'm off to Ireland today"
Anita calls at Penrhewl, where Jason is still an unwelcome guest, and has packed his bag for the journey to Ireland;
"Diane's in Australia"
she gives him the news that Diane is in fact in Australia, where she is staying with Emma.   Jason is perplexed that she sent the postcard from Rosslare,
"Why didn't she phone me or Dai?"
and wonders why she did not phone him or Dai.
“She’s not ready to talk to you yet,” Anita tells him, “Your Mam needs some space – it will do her good, and you needn’t worry about her.
Anita is not keen on facing Dai
Could you tell Dai, as I doubt if he will be pleased to know that Diane is basking in Australian sunshine without him.”
Kath has upset the orange juice
At Maes-y-Deri, Kath’s hands are shaking, and she upsets the carton of orange juice;
"Please, Dol, I need another one!"
she is desperate for another tablet, which Dol hands over, and then tells her that they have to talk.
"You're stronger than you think!"
“I’ve done some research on the internet – you’re stronger than you think!”
"One is not enough!"
Kath is just concerned that one tablet is not enough;  “You saw what I was like the other day – please, Dol, I promise to try tomorrow!”   When this does not work, she asks, “Is it money you want?”
"All I want is for you to recover"
but Dol replies that she only wants Kath to recover – that is what matters.
Mathew walks along the street, on the phone to Dani,
A collision in the café doorway
and collides with Vicky, coming out of the café, sending her milkshake all over her jacket.   “I’m on the way to an interview!” she squeals,
"Nobody's going to hire me, stinking of banana!"
“Nobody’s going to hire me with a stain on my jacket, and stinking of banana!”
"Come and have a free coffee at the Deri"
Mathew offers her a cup of coffee at the Deri on the house, and she demands how that will solve her problem.   He answers, “It won’t, but you’ll feel better – and be less annoyed, I hope!”
"How about a hot chocolate – with the works?"
She suggests she could have hot chocolate – with the works.
"Could you look after Esther?"
Anita has been summoned to CwmFM, where Hywel tells her that Esther has a temperature, so could Anita look after her while he is working.
"I'd prefer to look after CwmFM!"
She has other ideas;  “Oh, I thought you wanted me to present a programme – I would prefer to do that – it does make sense for her father to look after her,
"I've had enough of changing nappies!"
and I’ve had enough of changing nappies!   The programme is only an hour, and I know what I’m doing!”
"We don't want to miss the ferry!"
Dai is all ready to leave when Jason arrives at Bryntirion;  “Come on, we don’t want to miss the boat!” Dai urges,
"Mam is in Australia!"
but Jason advises that they do not need to go anywhere, as Mam is not in Ireland, but in Australia.
"You know what Mam's like!"
“She needs time to herself, time to relax,” Jason continues, You know what Mam’s like – any excuse to sit on a beach, drinking cocktails!   I’m sure she’s not going out of her way to make us worry.”
"She not stopping us worrying, either"
Dai replies that she is not going out of her way to stop them worrying, either.
Jason’s proposed cup of tea is dismissed,
"Tea is the last thing I need now!"
“Tea is the last thing I need now – your mother is not the only one who wants to be left alone!”
Kath has been searching through drawers, but retires to the sofa when Dol comes down with her latest acquisition;
Dol's latest bargain acquisition
“What do you think?   A tenner at Swansea market – I’m bound to find myself a hunk, wearing this!”
"Oh yeah – they'll be queueing up!"
Kath predicts that they will be queueing up, then confirms that Dol was right, and she does not need any more tablets, as she feels better already.
"I'm feeling better already"
“You said last week when I felt strong enough I could look after the tablets – I am now, and I can take control.”
"I'm not falling for that!"
Dol replies, “Do you think I’m stupid?   I’m not falling for that – you need help, and the drugs are staying with me!”
Kath’s true opinion is now revealed;  “Who do you think you are – wearing dresses four sizes too small?”
"Yeah – whatever"
Dol, however ignores her comments, and goes upstairs;  Kath shouts after her, “Nobody controls Kath Jones, understand?” and then goes out.
"How's your drink?"
In the Deri, Vicky samples her free drink and pronounces it, “All right!”   Mathew points out he took ages to make it,
Dani is busy, scribbling
and she insists, “It will take ages to get the smell out of my jacket!”
"You're here to work!"
Dani, at the other end of the bar, informs Mathew, “Your little jokes are lovely and cute – but you’re here to work!”
"How about a Mr and Mrs Quiz Night?"
He has had an idea – a Mr and Mrs Quiz Night – which could include Mr and Mr for Iolo and Tyler.
Mathew boasts that he is not just a pretty face, but has brains;  “If you had brains, I wouldn’t have a damp jacket!” complains Vicky.
Vicky dons Mathew's shirt
He gallantly gives her his shirt, as he does not want her catching cold;  meanwhile Dani looks on, disapprovingly.
"I want an appointment – now!"
At the doctors’ surgery, Kath demands an appointment – now.
"We need to know what is wrong first"
The receptionist replies that without knowing what is wrong, she cannot do that.   “I want an emergency one!   If I was healthy, I wouldn’t be here!   I pay my taxes!
"I'm not moving until I see a doctor!"
I’m not moving until I see a doctor!”
"If she thinks I'm paying for her jolly in Australia!"
Dai sees Anita in the street and rages, “If Diane thinks I’m paying for her jolly in Australia, she can think again!   I’ll cancel the joint credit card –
"Shrimps on the barbie!"
APD is not paying for ‘Sex on the Beach’, ‘Harvey Wallbangers’ and shrimps on the barbie!   It’s peace and quiet that Diane needs, so I’m told – and that’s cheap, isn’t it?”
"Get in the house – now!"
When he protests that he is too busy to talk, Anita orders, “Dai, get in the house – now!   I’m not leaving my friend in Australia penniless!” and he complies.
"You said I could have an appointment for Esther"
Hywel also arrives at the surgery with Esther, who still has a temperature, despite the Calpol, and the receptionist asks him to wait.
Hywel explains why he is there . . .
He sees Kath, and tells her of Esther’s problem;
. . . and is rudely rebuffed
she responds, “I would have asked if I was interested!”
"It's so nice to have you back!"
He comments that he forgot to tell her how nice it is to have her back, and then moves to another part of the waiting room.
"I was here first – and there's nothing wrong with her!"
Kath returns to the counter moaning about how long she has been waiting;  Hywel is told to go to room two, and Kath is outraged that he has jumped the queue.   Then the receptionist informs her that the doctor cannot see her today;  “I could die here!” shouts Kath, and when told if her symptoms worsen to go to the hospital, she goes on,
"I want to see the manager!"
“Talking to you is a waste of time – I want to see the manager!”
"I am the manager"
The girl behind the counter advises that she is the manager;  before storming out, Kath roars, “You’re not going to forget this – nobody treats me like this!”
"Sardines for lunch OK, Kath?"
Dol comes downstairs and finds that Kath has gone;  she must go and find her.
"Didn't even have the courtesy to phone me!"
Dai moans, “She didn’t even have the courtesy to phone me herself!”
"She knew how you would react"
Anita points out that she knew how Dai would react, and asks if he is like this at home;  she is not surprised that Diane wants a break.
"It's not normal – she should be at home!"
“It’s not normal for a wife to ‘take a break’ from her husband – she should be at home!” he snarls.
Anita reminds him that not long ago he disappeared to Ireland,
"Worried about your self-respect?"
and enquires, “What exactly are you worried about?   That Diane has gone, or that your self-respect has taken a knock?
Dai laments, “Did she have to do it like this?   Won’t even talk to me – am I so unreasonable?”   Anita gives him a look.   “Instead of talking, she ran away to the other side of the world.”
"Explaining can be difficult"
Anita explains that it can be difficult to explain feelings face to face;  “She needs time to sort things out in her own mind.   Better this than suffering quietly and making herself ill.   You must be patient and carry on as best you can – and try to make amends with Jason.   You and Diane will get through this, you know.”
"Why does it have to be so hard?"
Dai agrees with this, but wonders why it has to be so hard.
"You can't ask that – it's a bit personal!"
Dani looks at Mathew’s notebook;  “You can’t ask that question – it’s a bit personal!”   Mathew asks what her answer would be, but she tells him to mind his own business.
He runs through the people to invite
He has thought of asking Iolo and Tyler, Cadno and Eifion, Siôn and Gwyneth (although Dani advises him to check with Britt first).
Vicky returns his shirt
Vicky brings his shirt back;  “The things I have to do to get a pretty girl’s forgiveness,” he tells her,
"If you've got a boyfriend, you can take part in the quiz"
“If you’ve got a boyfriend, you can take part in the quiz.”   Vicky is confident that she will be far from here on St Dwynwen’s night.
Hywel meets Jason in the street and says that Esther has to be given a lot of fuss for a couple of days.
"No-one's fussing over me!"
“You’re lucky – no-one’s fussing over me!” Jason tells Esther,
Jason has a whole catalogue of problems
“Sara’s not forgiven me, Mam’s disappeared to Australia, Dai’s hardly talking to me and Cadno is doing her best to kick me out of Penrhewl!”
"You must show Sara how much you regret it"
Hywel recommends that he show Sara how much he regrets what happened.
"Where does the parent and baby group meet now"
When Hywel meets Vicky, he asks where the parent and baby group meet, as Bethania is not available;
"There hasn't been a group since the fire"
she enlightens him that there has not been a group since the fire, and all the mothers are gutted.
"Have you seen Kath?"
Dol arrives, asking if they have seen Kath;  Hywel reports that she was in a foul mood at the surgery earlier.   Dol rings Kath’s number on her mobile.
Dai arrives at the farm, bearing gifts
Dai goes to Penrhewl with a peace offering, boxes of chips and some cans;  he tells Jason, “We’ve both wasted a lot of time and energy these last few days, worrying about your Mam – but that stops right now!   I’m reopening APD tomorrow,
"Is this your way of apologising?"
but now we sit down, have some chips and forget what happened.
"Are there any pickles here?"
Are there any pickles here?”
Dol dials Kath's number . . .
Dol walks down the alley with her phone and hears another one ringing;
. . . and tracks her down
she locates Kath, sitting on the ground beside a bin.
"Give me a tablet, please, Dol!"
“Give me a tablet, please, Dol!” she pleads, “I don’t want to live like this, I want something to help me – now!
"Only one – and this is the last time!
Handing over another tablet, Dol warns, “Only one – and this is the last time!   I’ll get you better, I promise!”
