Kath wakes up on the sofa and goes to the kitchen for a drink of water; she hears someone coming downstairs.

It is Mathew, who is putting on his silver jacket;

“What’s up? Lost your way to Mars or something?” she asks.
He explains that there was a celebration at the Deri last night; “What’s that got to do with you wearing Baco foil?” she asks, handing him his shoes, “Aren’t you staying for breakfast?”

| Mathew thinks it is time he left |
Vicky appears, and Mathew tells her he had better go before Nicky wakes up.

He says he will text her, and after a kiss, he leaves.

“Couldn’t leave fast enough, could he?” comments Kath.

| Sara has assembly problems |
Sara is trying to assemble a table, and is tempted to phone Jason, but stops herself. Cadno calls with the vegetables,

including extra spinach, and offers to assist her,

consulting the instruction leaflet.

| "Can I have an appointment this afternoon?" |
Ffion arrives at the salon to make an appointment for this afternoon, and admits that she and Gethin are looking forward to buying the flat;

| Eifion's wallpaper makes Sheryl wince |
Sheryl tells her, “Eifion made a few dodgy decisions with wallpaper upstairs in the house.”

| "All these texts from mothers I don't know!" |
Hywel comes in, complaining that he has received three texts from mothers he does not know,

supporting him in his efforts to restart the baby club.

| "I'm going round to Maes-y-Deri!" |
“I said something to Vicky about it, and I’m going to Maes-y-Deri to sort this out!”

At Penrhewl, Jason is looking at a website selling very expensive cots;

| "£400 for a cot?" |
“£400 for a cot?” exclaims Eifion. Jason explains that it will be a gift to Sara to prove he is serious about being a father.

| "You've got a tractor problem?" |
When Gethin arrives to look at a malfunctioning tractor, Eifion tells him, “This one’s spending a fortune on a cot!”

| "You ought to take her shopping!" |
Gethin remembers that when Natalie was expecting Daniel, buying furniture was a big deal, and suggests that Jason should take Sara shopping – that way they can spend some time together.

| "We got a secondhand one!" |
Jason is impressed with this idea, but Eifion merely grumbles, “I don’t know what the fuss is about – we got a secondhand one!”

Jason insists that everything has to be perfect for this baby – including its Mam and Dad.

| "What about after he finished work?" |
Vicky tells Dol that Mathew was so funny as the host last night, and Dol enquires about what happened after he finished work.

Kath moans, “Can we stop talking about Mathew for two minutes? We all know it was a one night stand – he was only after one thing, and last night you gave it to him!”
Dol dissuades Vicky from remonstrating, encouraging her to make tea instead.

While she is doing that, Dol warns Kath, “Why don’t you go and have a little lie down?” but Kath demands another pill. “You’ve had your lot for today!” Dol replies, “Nap! Now!”

“Get stuffed!” growls Kath, and goes upstairs. Dol assures Vicky that Dol is simply in a huff,

| Rather belatedly, Vicky is having second thoughts |
but Vicky is now debating whether she should have slept with Mathew.

Then Hywel comes visiting; “What have you been telling people about starting a mother and baby club? I only said that someone should do it – I’d love to help, but I don’t have the time. You can advertise on CwmFM, but that’s all.”

Vicky replies, “Esther would have loved it – but I’m sure she’ll understand that you’re too busy!”

Hywel changes the subject; How’s Kath? I saw her at the doctor’s the other day – if I were you, I’d keep an eye on her – there’s something amiss there!”

When he has gone, Vicky hopes that her emotional blackmail worked,

and Dol looks at a page about drug abuse on the laptop.
Mathew is asleep on the sofa at Penrhew when Eifion and Gethin come in; Eifion picks up Mathew’s phone and says loudly, “Yes, he’s here now! Vicky’s on the phone for you!”

Of course, Mathew is quick to grab the phone, but when there is no-one there, and the others are laughing,

he is angry.

| "Just a case of putting two and two together" |
Eifion explains that Dani said he walked Vicky home, and they just put two and two together. “You’re the new stepfather for Nicky, are you?” Gethin asks,

but Mathew is insistent that last night was a bit of fun, and he enjoys being single.
“You’ve never been able to have a one night stand,” Eifion tells him.

The table assembly is is now complete, but Sara has to sit down as she feels rather lightheaded; her iron levels are low, and she has to go for results of the tests this afternoon.

Jason arrives with his offer to take her shopping for baby things,

but she informs him, “I’ve already bought everything – but you’ll need stuff for this baby too – was there anything else?”

Jason tells her he wants to go with her for the next appointment, but she replies that it is not for a while.

When he has left, Cadno rebukes her for not telling him about this afternoon’s appointment, but Sara says,

As Dol vacuums, Vicky ponders, “This is pathetic – why am I wasting my time waiting for him to text me? I’m going to send him a message –

Kath comes down, demanding, “Can’t you shut that baby up?” When the vacuum cleaner is turned off, Nicky can be heard crying.

Vicky snarls at her, “He’s had a nightmare about an ugly old witch called Kath!” and goes to console him.

Kath then insists, “I need another one, Dol!” She is told that she survived on one yesterday, so she can do the same today.

“You’re not a doctor – it’s not up to you to decide if I deserve more or not! You’ve got no idea what you’re doing!

“You’re making me worse – and you’re going to pay for this!”

In the doctor’s waitingroom, Cadno joins Sara; “I know you’re brave enough to do this alone, but it’s nice to have company,” she says.

In the salon, as Sheryl is imparting the gossip about Vicky and Mathew to Ffion, Hywel returns,

and is hailed by Ffion as, “The hero of all the mothers in Cwmderi!”
“Vicky must have given my number to everyone pushing a pram around here!” he complains, “I’ll have to agree to it now – if only to be left in peace.”

Gethin comes in to ask Ffion if it is all right for him to have an evening with the lads, and Hywel decides to join him.

“I’ll help you look for wallpaper,” offers Ffion.

“There’s no shame in forgiving someone – if that’s what you want to do,” advises Cadno, but receives no reply.

Kath is now in a more apologetic humour, but Dol is on her guard;

“Are you trying to sweet-talk me again? Perhaps I shouldn’t have given you that extra pill – I can’t trust myself not to do it again.”

When Kath suggests the pills should be given back to her, Dol adds, “But I trust you even less! There’s only one answer – Cold Turkey! We need to get rid of them all – a clean break – we both need this!”
Kath maintains that she wants some fresh air, puts on her coat and goes out.

Eifion has made himself beans on toast when Cadno returns, advising she has been to the doctor’s with Sara;

Unfortunately, Jason walks in just as Eifion asks, “Did the doctor say everything is all right with Sara?” Cadno explains,

and Jason is outraged that Sara kept this information from him, stressing that he is the baby’s father.

when Jason arrives, demanding, “Why didn’t you tell me you had an appointment today? You have to promise to tell me everything from now on – I’m concerned for both of you!”

“Are you?” she answers, “Or am I just someone to carry your baby?” He wails that she knows that he regrets what he did, and asks what he has to do to prove that to her. “Maybe it’s too late!” is her reply, “When are you going to realise that talking is not enough? I promise to text you when the next scan is due.

He sorrowfully leaves, and Sara sits on the sofa, addressing her baby;

In the Deri, Mathew has carelessly left his phone on the bar while he visits the toilet; Eifion takes the opportunity to use it to send a quick text to Vicky. “I’ll phone to arrange our next date.”

Hywel arrives and is told that Jason has gone to see Sara; “I wouldn’t like to be in his shoes!” comments Hywel.

Gethin reminds him that he has been – several times, and explains to Mathew that Hywel has had a long list of affairs.

Hywel insists that now he is a reformed character.
Mathew boasts that he has never cheated,
