Jim with his photo of Courtney
As Jim looks at the photo of Courtney, Ricky comes in, but does not get a warm welcome;  Jim tells him to leave, but Ricky was under the impression they were friends and understood each other,
"I know how much it hurts"
asserting that, “I miss Courtney too – I loved her, and I know how much it hurts that she is gone!”
"There's no reason for us to talk!"
Jim points out that she has not gone anywhere – she is dead, and so there is no reason for them to talk;  Ricky wants to be able to go back to the summer when all was well,
Ricky is unable to reason with him
but he sadly leaves as he is once again ordered to get out.
Ed is told that Tyler is not there . . .
Ed calls at number 7, but is told by Iolo that Tyler went early to school;  “Probably scared that I will run faster than him!” quips Ed.
. . . then receives another dirty look from Kelly
Kelly, who is going into the café, scowls at him.
Even Iolo is worried about Ed and Tyler
Inside, Iolo is becoming worried, but Tyler assures him that Ed is getting too full-on.   “You are telling the truth, aren’t you?” worries Iolo, then there is another knock on the door.
Kelly visits Tyler
This time it is Kelly, who wants to talk to Tyler.
"I had no right to drag you into it"
“What I told you last night was a mistake – I had no right to drag you into it,” she says, “But the last thing I want is for Ed to hurt Sioned again!”
Debbie cannot stand Kath much longer
Debbie is already tiring of Kath;  “I’m sure you’re missing Birmingham by now,” she comments, but Kath seems in no hurry to go anywhere.
"Jim doesn't want to see me any more"
Ricky comes home, reporting that he is not going to school today.
“I went to see Jim, but he said he didn’t want to see me any more,” he tells them,
"Oh, my little chat worked, then"
and Kath remarks that her little chat to him seems to be working.   This infuriates Ricky, who moans, “I asked you to keep quiet – I don’t want the truth to come out!” then realises what he has said
"I was the father"
and has to explain, “Courtney was pregnant – and I was the father.”
Diane is about to have an unpleasant surprise
Diane is working alone in APD when Jim arrives there, wanting to thank her for not going to the police, which has been a great help to him.
"I'm sorry for what happened"
He is sorry for what happened and for putting his foot in it.
Diane does not look too happy
She is very nervous,
"You all right, Diane?"
which Iolo notices when he comes in for a box of washers, and Jim leaves.
"This lovers' tiff is getting boring!"
In the café, Ed tells Sioned, “I don’t know what happened to Tyler this morning – Iolo said he’d gone to work, but his car was parked behind the house.”   She urges him to stop going on about his lovers’ tiff, adding that if Tyler is anything like his sister, his moods will change like the wind.
"Ed's worried about his new friend"
Then Iolo comes in, so Sioned says, “Ed is worried about his new friend – is Tyler all right?”   Iolo replies that they are going to the Deri for a drink later
"Come to the Deri – it will be a laugh!"
and invites Ed and Sioned to join them.   She maintains that they are busy, but Ed agrees to go.
"I'm starting to wonder if you really do fancy him!"
“Why do that?” she demands, “I’m starting to wonder if you really do fancy him!”
Anita does not look particularly welcoming
Diane goes across to number 10 and wants a chat with Anita, but she is not eager,
"I'm going shopping, and meeting someone"
manufacturing a shopping trip and meeting a friend to try and dissuade Diane.   However she relents, thinking she can spare half an hour, so they go off to the Deri.
Kath prepares an ambush
Kath lies in wait for Jim as he walks along the back street;  “I heard you saw Ricky this morning,” she announces,
"Yes, and I sent him away!"
but Jim confirms that he sent him away as soon as he arrived.
"And I heard about the baby"
“Yes, I heard that too, and about the baby,” Kath goes on, “It must be hard for you, losing a daughter – and finding she was pregnant.   The kidnapping is starting to make sense – of course it was wrong, but you were looking for answers.
"Does this woman actually understand?"
It’s hard for you to accept that your little girl was growing up – sleeping with her boyfriend when you thought of her as a child.   Don’t think for a minute that I forgive you – but I’m beginning to understand –
"That baby was related to me as well!"
that baby was related to me as well!”
Jim is taken aback
Jim looks stunned as Kath walks away.
"Cup of tea, Auntie Anita?"
Kelly opens the cupboard for some cups, and hears the back door open;  “Cup of tea, Auntie Anita?” she asks,
Kelly finds herself alone with Kevin
and in reply hears Kevin’s voice, declining the offer.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
“What the hell are you doing here?” she shouts.
“You’re not pleased to see me, are you?” he rather needlessly asks, and she seizes her phone from the table to phone the police, screaming that she knows what he and Nansi did.
Just when it appears to be getting physical, Anita returns
As Kevin attempts to wrestle it from her hand, Anita returns.
"You think I'm stupid or what?"
“He tried to attack me!” yells Kelly, but he insists he only wanted to talk;  “What?   By grabbing my phone?” she demands, “You think I’m stupid or what?”
Anita discloses that she wanted him here
Anita explains that she wanted to talk to him, and expected a quiet chat.
Kevin suggests Kelly can go and forget that she saw him;  “I wouldn’t leave a mongrel with you!” she squeals,
"I'm not going anywhere – until the police arrive!"
“OK, go on then – talk to him, but I’m not going anywhere – not until the police arrive, anyway.
"Kevin needs sorting out!"
I connected the call, because Kevin needs sorting out – what did you expect me to do?”
Anita warns Kevin he must go, and as he escapes,
"Why did you have to interfere?"
demands why Kelly had to interfere.   She answers, “You arranged a secret rendezvous with a rapist!   The police are not coming –
"I just wanted him to disappear!"
I just wanted him to disappear, and don’t you dare go after him!”
Meanwhile, Kevin, having gone out through the back gate,
Kevin evaluates the situation
has second thoughts and heads back into the house.
"I'll make a full confession"
“I’m staying here to make a full confession,” he says, and when Anita informs him that Kelly did not phone the police, he offers, “Hand me the phone and I’ll call them myself!   I can’t live with myself after what I’ve done!”
Anita goes on about not wanting him back in prison,
"Meic would have been proud of you!"
and Kelly grimaces as she adds, “Meic would have been proud of you!”
"And what was my reward?  Going to live with her!"
Kevin laughs, “And what was my reward for turning on Nansi?   Going to live with her!   Anita, this is where I want to be, with you.”   Kelly is adamant there is no way he is going to come back here.
She never wants to see Nansi again
However, Anita announces, “I wanted to tell Kevin face to face – after what Nansi did, I don’t want her anywhere near me ever again!   In order to make that happen, I have to break all ties with you!”
Kevin tries to use Meic as a bargaining tool
Kevin points out that his father ties them together for ever, so if Anita turns her back on him, she is doing the same to Meic.
"I never want to see you again!"
“I’ve thought about this, and my mind is made up,” Anita tells him, “Off you go, and I never want to see you again!”   With tears in his eyes, he walks out of the back door,
A final backward glance . . .
through the gate
. . . and he heads away from Cwmderi
and past Cysgod y Glyn.
Sioned arrives at the café  . . .
When Tyler comes into the café, he asks Sioned how she is;
. . . and Tyler seems very concerned for her
he is so earnest that she suspects that someone has said something.
"It was that Kelly, wasn't it?"
“Kelly?   She told you?”   He simply reassures her that he will not tell anyone, not even Iolo,
"Look, if you ever need help . . ."
and if she needs any help, she knows where he is.
A major confrontation is in progress
A heated argument is in full swing at Maes-y-Deri, Ricky not wanting to talk about the matter, and Kath ranting that she is only trying to help.   When Ricky has stormed off to his room,
"Get out of my sight, Kath!"
Debbie advises, “Get out of my sight, Kath!”
Iolo demonstrates his skill at darts
Iolo and Tyler are playing darts at the Deri, and Tyler is not happy when Ed appears, having been invited by Iolo.   Ed asks, “What happened to the run this morning?   You weren’t at work, as your car was out the back.”
"I don't have time for men who hit women!"
Tyler confronts him;  “I don’t have time for men who hit women!   Don’t deny it – I know all about it!”   Then he tells Iolo, “Forget the pint – I’m going home!”
Diane has got through several crosswords
By the state of Diane, it seems that she has been drinking there for some time;  “How did the shopping go? How’s your friend?” she asks Anita.
"Been telling porkies to her as well?"
Kelly smiles, “Oh, it’s not just me you’ve been telling porkies, is it?   She couldn’t keep you company – she was with Kevin!”
"After you lied to me, I don't think so!"
Diane is now reluctant to tell Anita her problems;  “After you lied to me, I don’t think so!” she snaps, and walks out of the Deri.
"You brought the rapist and thief to Cwmderi!"
Anita turns on Kelly;  “Thanks a bunch – all you’ve done today is stir!”   Kelly reminds her that she is the one who insisted on bringing a rapist and thief to Cwmderi.   “If you don’t like what I do, perhaps you should move out!” is the caustic reply, “I’m fed up with people poking their noses into my affairs.   You’ve got enough money – go and live somewhere else!
Anita gives Kelly her marching orders
You heard me tell Kevin he is not welcome – well, I’m saying the same to you!”   Kelly is quite understandably shocked.
Kath, in the bedroom . . .
Kath sits on her bed, feeling sorry for herself;  she takes the plastic bag
. . . appears to be on medication . . .
and removes a pack of tablets.   She takes one,
. . . washed down with water
washed down with water.
"Don't tell me you've had a tiff!"
When Ed returns home to Sioned, she taunts him, “I thought you were out for the night with your gay friend – don’t tell me you’ve had a tiff!”
"Tyler accused me of hitting you?"
Ed reveals that Tyler has accused him of hitting her, and cannot fathom who may have told him that.
"Where did they get that rumour from?"
“At least, Kelly’s attitude makes sense now – friendly one minute, then looking at me like dirt the next – she must have heard too.   Do you have any idea who it was?” he asks Sioned.
"I started the rumour . . ."
She replies, “I know exactly who it was – me!   I started the rumour –
". . . and look at all the sympathy I'm getting!"
“and you’d be surprised how much sympathy I’m getting!   No-one likes a man who beats his wife!”
"What else is this woman capable of?"
She smiles and continues drinking her wine, while Ed looks horrified.
