17 January 2017

"Cornflakes today – no bacon!"
Kath is making a pot of tea when Dol gets up.   Dol is grateful there is no bacon this morning;  “My cholesterol must be sky-high!” she says, “You’re sleeping better, anyway –
"I could hear you loud and clear!"
I could hear you loud and clear!   The thing is that you want a tablet – but you don’t.   My plan’s working, Kath.”
Kath cannot wait that long
Kath looks distraught when she is told that the next tablet will be tonight.
Ffion gives notice on the flat
Ffion visits Hywel and Sheryl to give a month’s notice of leaving Cysgod y Glyn;  “We’re going to rent Eifion’s house – there much more space there.
"It's just what Arwen needs!"
I’d like Arwen to have a garden as she’s growing up.   It’s big enough for a swing and a wendy house – and a washing line.”
Hywel and Sheryl look at each other, and Hywel remarks that he does not blame her for moving out of Cysgod y Glyn.
Now Sheryl wants the house
When Ffion has gone, Sheryl begins reconsidering;  “Maybe it would be nice to have a bit more room – I may have been too hasty.”
"It's too late now"
Hywel tells her that it is too late now, but Sheryl has other ideas, although Hywel points out that as well as finding another place to live, they now have to rent out Cysgod y Glyn.
Sheryl is not so sure about that
As soon as he goes to get Esther dressed, Sheryl phones Eifion.
"I can work every night"
In the Deri, Dani, Britt and Mathew discuss rotas;  “I can do every night,” Mathew offers.
Garry is fed up with being upstairs
Then Garry comes downstairs and is rebuked by Dani for not resting his leg.   He insists that someone has to keep an eye on things while she is at the salon.
"What's the matter Garry – jealous?"
Britt asks him, “What’s the problem”   Are you jealous?” a suggestion which Garry ridicules.   Britt continues, “He’s young and good-looking –
"He is nearer her age!"
you think he’s after Dani!   I can understand it – he’s nearer her age!”   Garry seems confident that Dani would not look twice at Mathew.
"Fancy trying some Polish beer?"
When Mathew returns to the bar he asks if Garry fancies trying Polish beer, and Garry snarls that he has had enough of Mathew already.   “You’re not one for theme nights, then?   We could hang up a Polish flag and have a buffet with plenty of beer!”
"Forget about this Poland business!"
“If you want to keep your job, forget about this Poland business!” warns Garry, and seeing them talking,
"I know – you're arranging something!"
Britt suspects they are arranging something.
Cadno does not want Jason there
Cadno complains to Eifion at Penrhewl, “We need the place to ourselves, just the four of us, without having to worry about Jason.   If you don’t tell him, I will!”
"I'd like to move into your house!"
Then Sheryl arrives, with the news, “I’d like to move into Eifion’s house!”
"Didn't Ffion want it?"
Eifion heard that Ffion might be interested, but she has not been in touch.   He finds it strange that Sheryl did not want the house last week,
"We want to buy it!"
but she tells him, “I’ve changed my mind – and to be honest, we don’t want to rent – we want to buy it, as it’s ideal for Esther growing up.   It’s easier to sell than to deal with tenant’s problems.   We shall have to sell Cysgod y Glyn first, but you won’t have to wait for the money, as we want to rent it immediately – today!”
Eifion is amazed that the house has virtually sold itself
Eifion is amazed at how easy this transaction has been.
At the end of the bar, Garry reprimands Mathew that there is not enough head on the glass of beer served to a customer.
Kath sees an apparently unattended bag . . .
A blonde and a redhead go to the bar, leaving an unattended handbag on a table;  Kath notices this, and surreptitiously goes over there.
. . . but is spotted before she can look into it
She is about to delve inside when the owner looks across, so Kath is thwarted.
Hywel cannot believe what he is hearing
Sheryl has summoned Hywel to the salon, and is absolutely amazed when  she advises him, “We’re buying Eifion’s house!   If we sell Cysgod y Glyn, but rent the house until then, we can move in straightaway!”
"Cysgod y Glyn is my flat!"
He points out that Cysgod y Glyn is his flat, but she replies, “I thought you wanted Esther to have a proper home.”
“What about Ffion?   She said this morning that they are moving into the house,” he protests, “And she has given notice on the flat, which is very strange.”

"Who's more important – Esther and me, or Ffion?"
Sheryl is unconcerned;  “Eifion wants to sell now – and anyway, who’s more important to you – Esther and me, or Ffion?   You wanted to move – I thought you’d be happy!   Eifion and I understand each other, don’t worry.   I can’t wait!
He is given his orders
You’d better go and start packing!”
"You've got to be out as soon as possible!"
In the Deri, Eifion tells Mathew that he has to move out as soon as possible.   Garry, from his seat at the end of the bar, mutters, “What a shame!”
"I've only just got this job"
Mathew demands where he is supposed to go, protesting that he has just got this job.
"We can soon change that!"
Again there is a comment, “We can soon change that!”
"You can't stay at Penrhewl"
When Mathew asks about staying at Penrhewl, Cadno assures him there is no chance, and that Jason is already there.   Eifion leaves to go to Tomos ac Ellis.
Kath arrives at the chippy . . .
Kath arrives at the chippy as Britt is taking delivery of some boxes through the back door;  she slips round behind the counter
. . . and is caught with her her fingers in the handbag
and starts looking in Britt’s bag, but is caught red-handed.
First, she heard a phone ringing . . .
When challenged, Kath alleges that she heard Britt’s phone ringing, but Britt shows her it is kept in her pocket.   “You were trying to steal my purse, or if not that, what were you after?”
. . . then she was looking for paracetamol
Now Kath says she was looking for paracetamol for her ‘blistering headache’, but Britt advises, “You can get that at the shop!
"Wait till I tell Mark!"
If I hadn’t come back, you would have had my purse – just wait till I tell Mark!”
"Please don't tell Mark!"
Kath pleads with her not to tell him, insisting that it is all a misunderstanding, then hurries out of the shop.
Preferential treatment for Cadno
In the Deri, Mathew brings Cadno her meal, complete with extra vegetables,
Mathew lays it on rather thick
and recalls, “I loved visiting the farm when I was younger.   You let me build dens in the fields and I got stuck up a tree once.   I thought you were fab – and so pretty!”
"It's not going to work!"
Cadno replies that if he is trying to butter her up, it will not work.
"There's a customer here!"
There is a shout from the bar, “There’s a customer here!”   Mathew serves Mal,
"I'm not paying you to chat!"
and then is warned, “I’m not paying you to chat with your family!”
While Garry is reading the paper,
Mathew purloins the crutches . . .
Mathew removes and hides his crutches,
. . . which amuses Cadno
which amuses Cadno.
Kath looks in a bad way . . .
Kath staggers into Awyr Iach, hardly able to stand,
. . . and mumbles incoherently about Britt's bag
and collapses into a chair;  her breathing is laboured as she mumbles incoherently about Britt’s bag and being caught.
"I'm going to get you home!"
Dol urges her to breathe deeply, and will take her back home.
"You're playing with fire, you know!"
When Mathew brings her a drink, Cadno warns that he is playing with fire, but he reckons that he can handle Garry.
"Someone's stolen my crutches!"
She is proved right as a shout is heard, “Someone’s stolen my crutches!   It was you, doing it to wind me up!” Garry accuses Mathew,
"You're trying to make a fool of me!"
“You’re trying to make a fool of me!”
"You're doing a good job of that yourself!"
Dani, who has been sitting nearby, points out, “You’re doing a good job of that yourself!   They’re over there,” and fetches them.
She does not look entirely pleased with Garry
Garry needs to visit the toilet, and threatens he will sack Mathew.
"The barrel must have hit him on the head, too!"
Dani apologises to the clientèle, alleging, “The barrel must have hit him on the head, too!”
Dol has succeeded in getting Kath home
Dol has managed to drag Kath back to Maes-y-Deri,
"I don't know what's happening to me!"
where she slumps on the sofa, shaking and with rapid breathing.   Dol will make a cup of tea to warm her up, but Kath panics, “My heart is racing, Dol – I don’t know what’s happening to me!   Please can I have a tablet?”
Dol is now ready to give up
Dol is out of her depth and says, “I think you should have them all back!   I don’t know what I’m doing now.
"I can't take responsibility for this!"
I can’t take responsibility for getting you in a state like this – I can’t cope!”
Another tablet is handed over
Kath pleads for Dol not to leave her now, and she is handed another tablet.
"Why do we need all this bedding?"
Hywel is gathering bedclothes together for their move, and Sheryl is looking forward to having three bedrooms.
"That's Magnolia!"
She has also selected paint in Boutique Cream, which Hywel describes as Magnolia.
Eifion arrives with the contract . . .
Eifion arrives with the rental contract from Tomos ac Ellis,
. . . which Hywel signs without reading it
which Hywel signs, without checking it first.   They are told they will have the keys tomorrow.
Mathew has managed to wear down Cadno
At the bar, Cadno gives Mathew a tip, “For making me laugh.”   He promises that she could be laughing all day if he were staying at Penrhewl, and she finally concedes, “If you’re absolutely desperate, you can stay – but no nonsense!   It will soon be lambing, so we could do with some help.”
Eifion hears that Mathew is staying at Penrhewl, temporarily
Eifion returns, telling Mathew he has to move out tonight, and is surprised when Cadno advises he will be staying at the farm.
"Can you make an effort with Math?"
Dani is exasperated with Garry;  “Can you make an effort with Math?   He’s a nice bloke!”
"He fancies you!"
“You’re only saying that because he fancies you!” protests Garry, but she assures him she does not fancy Mathew.   “According to Britt, he’s good-looking,” he adds, and Dani assures Garry that he is too.
"You're organising a surprise for Chester"
As they talk, Britt comes in and tells them, “I know you’re making arrangements – you can stop pretending now.   You’re arranging a surprise party for Chester tomorrow – you’re so sly, but I’m really looking forward to it.
It does not look as if they know what she is going on about
He deserves something to cheer him up!”
"When can we move in, then?"
Ffion arrives and asks Eifion, “When can we move in?”   She is devastated to hear that Hywel and Sheryl have signed the contracts and are having the house.
"You said you'd tell Eifion!"
“You were going to tell Eifion that we wanted the house!” she rages at Mathew,
Mathew denies this
but he replies that he thought she was not sure about it.
"It's all settled now"
“There’s nothing I can do about it – it’s all settled now,” Eifion advises.
"What am I supposed to do?"
Ffion demands what she is supposed to do now.
