19 January 2017

"If she turns up, let me know, Emma"
Jason is speaking to Emma on the phone;  she does not know anything, but Jason asks her to ring him if Mam should happen to land there.
Dai is not having any more success
Dai is also making fruitless phone calls.   “Anything could have happened to her,” he worries, “Your Mam and I know each other well –
"She wouldn't leave me like that!"
we’ve been through a lot together – she wouldn’t leave me at the drop of a hat!”
"You have been bickering a lot"
Jason points out that they have been bickering a lot lately, but Dai snarls, “Yes, because of your antics!
Dai insists this is all Jason's fault
The more I think about it, I realise this is your fault!   If you hadn’t admitted kissing Vicky Collins, Sara wouldn’t have kicked you out and your Mam wouldn’t be worried!”
Jason protests that blaming each other will not help, and asks how she could have left Bryntirion;
Jason is heading to Deri Deithio . . .
“Not walking, and there’s no bus, so it’s either a lift or a taxi!   I’m going to Deri Deithio – you stay here just in case.”
. . . where Ed is being told off
In the taxi office, Sioned is again admonishing Ed;  “Platform four I said, not two!”   Ed replies that the phone was breaking up and he could not hear.   “Are you saying this is my fault?” she demands.
"Did you take Mam anywhere yesterday?"
Then Ed arrives, asking if they took Diane anywhere between nine and two yesterday.
"No taxi going to Bryntirion"
Sioned looks through the log, and reports that no taxi went to Bryntirion.
“We think she’s gone away, and don’t know what’s going on,” Jason tells them;  Sioned suggests he contact Cwrtmynach Cars.
"Did you see Diane yesterday?"
At number 10, Anita asks Kelly if she saw Diane yesterday, as she has had a message from Dai, saying she has run away.   “She has not been herself the last week – every time I wanted to go somewhere, she made excuses.”
"Who wouldn't go away, living with Dai?"
Kelly replies, “Probably gone away for a few days – who wouldn’t, living with Dai?   She won’t have gone far.”
Garry makes his way downstairs again
In the Deri, Garry is coming downstairs again, against Dani’s advice;
Mathew's Quiz Night flyer . . .
Mathew has been sketching a flyer for a Quiz Night, and when Garry sees it,
. . . which was all Dani's idea
Mathew says it was all Dani’s idea.   “All right – we’re quiet at this time of year,” says Garry, and Mathew suggests that they could have cocktails.
"Is Greece close to Poland?"
Dani leave for the salon, and Mathew comments, “You’d do well with geography questions – is Greece close to Poland?”   He receives a dirty look from Garry.
"What do you want?"
Sara thought she was getting some peace and quiet when Jason arrives;  “What do you want?” she demands.   He explains that Mam has disappeared,
"Fed up with men, I expect!"
and she comments, “Fed up with men, I expect!”
"I've ruined everything!"
Jason wails that it is all his fault;  “She was so upset when you kicked me out – she has bought a frame for the scan photo – I’ve ruined everything for everyone!”
Jason is downhearted
Sara shows him the scan images and he looks very sad.
"She's been at a low ebb"
Anita goes to Bryntirion to commiserate with Dai;  “She’s been at a low ebb – haven’t you noticed?”
"I knew something was not right"
Dai agrees that he did detect that something was not right,
"I thought she'd lost her spark"
and Anita goes on, “I thought she’d lost her spark for some reason, as if she had enough of life.
Anita will do some detective work upstairs
Do you mind if I have a look upstairs?”   Dai replies that he is glad of any help she can give.
Jason expresses his regrets
When Sara brings him a cup of tea, Jason sits by her and says how sorry he is for what happened, but she is in no mood for reconciliation.
"Don't use this to crawl your way back here!"
“Don’t use this Diane business to crawl your way back here!   I know you – nothing’s changed!   You’re the baby’s father, but there’s no future for our marriage!”
"Her best clothes – right!"
Jason’s phone rings;  it is Dai, informing him that, according to Anita, Diane has taken her best clothes with her, and the earrings she wears when she wants to impress.
"She's met another man online!"
“Perhaps she has met another man online,” suggests Sara, but Jason maintains that she can hardly turn on a computer.   He will never forgive himself if something has happened to her.
"All the local taxis are in here"
Sara hands him the Yellow Pages;  “All the local taxis will be in here.”
"All he does is moan all night!"
In the café, Dani complains to Debbie that she has not slept properly for days;  “All he does is moan all night about not being able to get his leg comfortable.”
"Has he hit you again?"
When she has taken her coffee, Kelly goes to sit with Sioned;  “Are things still bad?   I’m not stupid – has he hit you again?”
"Ed likes to make a fool of me"
Sioned explains how Ed belittles her and makes a fool of her.   Kelly warns her, “Things like that build up – and you’re going to crack!   Don’t flip, right, but I’ve done some research online and found this.”
"They do courses in Swansea"
She hands over a sheet of paper;  “They do courses in Swansea which could help Ed.”
Sioned is anxious to point out that Ed would never go to something like that, and that they will sort it out themselves.
"I would be on the receiving end!"
“Suggesting that course would make things worse – and I would be on the receiving end!”
Mathew's impromptu cocktails . . .
Mathew serves cocktails to two customers,
. . . which are a hit with the clientèle
who seem very appreciative; “You enjoy drawing attention to yourself, don’t you?” comments Garry,
"Just keeping the punters happy"
but Mathew answers that he is just keeping the punters happy, asking if Garry likes the sound of the till ringing.
Garry is subjected to a lecture
When Garry drops his magazine, Mathew cautions against him trying to retrieve it, as he could move the bone;  “You should accept a helping hand when it’s offered,” he advises, “Do you want a sandwich?”
"All right then – cheese and ham"
Garry grudgingly agrees, wanting cheese and ham.
Matthew adds, “Although we don’t have any Sopocka!” (Polish smoked pork loin)
"I don't want anything, Anita"
Anita makes some lunch for Dai, although he insists he does not want it.
Jason is back
Jason returns, asking what this ‘Diane being at a low ebb’ is all about.   Anita stresses that there is a new baby on the way, so Diane had a lot to look forward to.
Jason admits they have separated
Then Jason is forced to admit that he and Sara have separated;
"It's all his fault!"
Dai rages, “He was unfaithful to her, and while she was pregnant too – no wonder Diane is upset – it’s all his fault!”
Jason’s phone rings;  it is the Llanarthur taxi firm, who made a mistake earlier.   They explain they have a new driver, who did not document all his fares.
"She went from Llanelli station to Fishguard"
Jason announces, “There was a pickup from here about ten yesterday, going to Llanelli station.   Apparently she caught the Fishguard train and then the ferry to Rosslare!”
"Sorry to hear about Diane"
Ed comes into the café, and tells Sara, “Sorry to hear about Diane – if there’s anything I can do, let me know.”
"I know what you're doing to Sioned!"
Kelly has had enough;  she confronts Ed with, “I know what you’re doing to Sioned, while pretending to be nice as pie to everyone else!   Go and see these!” handing him the paper.
"No, you've got it wrong, Kelly!"
Ed tries to convince her she has this wrong.
He is issued with an ultimatum
However, she continues, “You’re dangerous and devious, messing with people’s minds!   I want proof you’ve made an appointment, or I’m calling the cops!   It’s your last chance, Ed!”
"What's your game?   Blackmail, is it?"
At the Deri bar, Garry calls Mathew;  “What’s your game about this Poland business?   Blackmail, is it – you want money to keep your mouth shut?”
"Only pulling your leg!"
Mathew protests that it is just a bit of fun, and he is only pulling Garry’s leg.   “Not that I have anything to hide,” Garry adds.
Mathew acknowledges that his humour is a bit childish at times, but he enjoys winding people up.   Garry suggests, “Let’s forget it now, shall we?” and Mathew offers a cocktail as a peace offering.
"Hey – this tastes nice!"
“That’s nice – what’s in it?” Garry asks, and Mathew is not sure of the exact ingredients.
Dani does not see Garry like this very often
Dani returns to find the pair of them smiling;  she wants Garry to admit that he was wrong, and that Mathew is a nice bloke,
"Yes, Dani, I was wrong"
so he does.
Jason has done some laptop detective work
Jason reveals to Dai that Sara suspects Diane could have met someone online, but his search of the laptop shows no signs of that.   “Your Mam can’t switch the thing on half the time!” says Dai.
"Could she have gone to see Dic?"
Jason points out that Ireland is quite a size, and suggests she may have gone to see Dic.
Ed wonders what he can do now
Ed is reading the printed sheet from Kelly at home when Sioned finds him;
"Oh, this is where you're slacking!"
“Oh, this is where you’re slacking!   Your pay packet will be smaller this week!
"What have you got there?"
What have you got there?”
Ed passes over the paper, recommending that Sioned should go there, as it could help her understand why she is doing this.
“Are you trying to give me advice?” she demands, “You’re more stupid than I thought!   I’ll tell you what you can do with this!
The paper is ripped up . . .
She tears the paper into pieces,
. . . then his foot is stamped upon by Sioned's heel
then stamps on his foot.
"Go and make coffee, will you?"
As Ed yelps with pain, she says, “Sorry, I didn’t see you there.   Go and make coffee, will you?”
