| "Where exactly are you taking me?" |
Dani comes out of the Deri, followed by Garry, who demands where she is taking him.
| "You said we'd get baby stuff today" |
“When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!” she replies, “You said we’d get baby stuff today! If you want to make me happy, come on!”
| Mal looks up the bus times on his phone |
She is insistent that they are going and gets into the driver’s seat of her car.
| "Just let me shut this door" |
At that moment Garry’s phone rings, but he rejects the call, and joins her in the car.
| "I'm looking forward to seeing you" |
Sioned leaves a message for Garry; “Just to say I’m looking forward to seeing you – and the baby too, of course.
| "I've booked a table for us in Swansea" |
“I’ve booked a table for us in Swansea – somewhere nice and quiet. See you later.”
| Linda ia having problems . . . |
At Bryntirion, Linda seems to be having trouble raising her spoon to her mouth; she has not slept much and says it was one of those nights.
| . . . which concern Dai |
Dai and DJ look concerned; she tells them to go to work, and she will join them later.
| "I'm like Grand-dad's old Fergie tractor today" |
“I’m like Grand-dad’s old Fergie tractor today – slow to start in the mornings, but once I’m fired up, look out,” she says.
| "You don't need to come to work" |
DJ suggests that she does not need to work today, but she replies that Kath has a day off, so they need her.
| She insists she must go there |
She gets up and hobbles out of the house.
At number 7, Tyler is deep in thought;
| "Are we doing the right thing?" |
Iolo asks who is going to phone Kelly, and wonders if they are doing the right thing.
| Tyler makes the phone call |
Tyler picks up his phone and dials a number.
| Kelly has a job to find her phone |
Kelly rummages in her bag for her phone, takes a deep breath and answers it.
| They arrange to meet later |
She is told that the three of them need to meet up, and agrees to go over there;
| Kelly is very unsure of herself |
she is very apprehensive.
| Obviously not a shop – more like a brothel? |
Dani and Garry arrive in a room with subdued lighting; “This is not a shop, is it?
| Garry does not like the look of this place |
“Where have you brought me?” he demands.
She tells him to keep an open mind, and not to freak out;
| "We've come to sing to the baby, Garry" |
“I’ve been here a couple of times – to sing to the baby – it’s beautiful, Garry.”
| "I don't have time for this!" |
He looks bemused, and says he does not have time for this.
| "That's why I had to kidnap you" |
She goes on, “I had to kidnap you, because I knew you wouldn’t come otherwise. The baby can hear and get to know our voices – it’s relaxing for both of us – I really need you to do this.”
| Garry's phone is about to ring again |
His phone rings again, and Dani grabs it from him,
| Now he is forced to stay there |
but fortunately does not look at the name of the caller, which is, predictably, Sioned.
| Still no reply from Garry |
Meanwhile, Sioned is arriving at the hospital, and sits down,
| She sits alone . . . |
awaiting her appointment, and nervously looking for Garry’s arrival; she still cannot get a reply from Garry, and looks worried.
| . . . fingering the necklace |
She fingers the necklace he gave her.
| Linda has dropped off at work |
At Awyr Iach, DJ speaks to a customer on the phone, and notices that his mother has fallen asleep at the desk.
| "She's having one of those days" |
Jason comes in, and is told that she is having one of those days, but Jason points out those days are coming more frequently now.
| Jason points out that she is a liability . . . |
“That new order for the schools is about to come in – we’re going to be busy. And you should know she fell asleep here yesterday, and left the heat-press on – it could have been the end of her and everyone else in this place! I don’t want to be harsh, but I think it’s time she gave up working here.”
| . . . and, of course, she hears every word |
Linda has in fact been listening to all this.
| "I don't know how I can tell her" |
DJ does not know how to tell her, as it will break her heart.
| "How about a cup of tea . . ?" |
Then Linda sits up and suggests that the management should make her a cup of tea,
| ". . . and biscuits are mandatory" |
adding that biscuits are mandatory.
| Gwyneth is desperate for a job |
Gwyneth arrives, looking for DJ, or more accurately, looking for a job. She is told that no jobs are available;
| "I tend to employ people I can trust!" |
DJ spells it out, “The fact is, Gwyneth, I tend to employ people I can trust!” She argues that she is desperate, but he will not change his mind.
| Kelly arrives . . . |
Kelly arrives at number 7; she asks if they have come to a decision,
| . . . and is informed they have reached a decision |
and Iolo and Tyler confirm that they have. Before they can say any more,
| She just wants to thank them . . . |
she interrupts, wanting to say one thing, “Whatever happens, thanks for even considering me as a potential mother for our baby – because I think it’s probably the most loving and trusting thing anyone can offer.”
| . . . and gets rather emotional |
Becoming increasingly emotional, she continues, “The idea, let alone the thought is a massive compliment. Thank you so much – that’s it!”
| "We wouldn't have considered anyone else" |
Iolo begins, “We want you know we wouldn’t have considered doing this with anyone else,” and Tyler goes on to say they do indeed want to go ahead with this – for her to be the mother of their child.
“Are we going to have a baby?” Kelly asks,
| "We're going to have a baby!" |
and then screams, “We’re going to have a baby!”
| She throws her arms around Iolo . . . |
launches herself across the room and embraces each of them in turn,
| . . . and then Tyler |
sobbing with tears of happiness.
| "It's a good thing to start early" |
Dani and Garry are relaxing on cushions on the floor; she knows it is rather early in the pregnancy, but maintains that is a good thing. Garry points out, “She has not started early,” looking at a girl in the latter stages of pregnancy.
| "That bloke's soon going to find out!" |
“That bloke’s soon going to find out if the baby likes his voice or not!”
| "You're totally unique, Dani" |
Dani was worried that Garry would not stay, but he tells her that she is totally unique. “I’m going to have another go at this,” he resolves, and, positioning himself near the unborn baby, begins to sing to it.
| Garry croons to the unborn baby |
“Beside the sea, red roses growing;
Beside the sea, white lilies showing;
Beside the sea, their beauty telling,
My true love sleeps within her dwelling.”
| "Hey you – this is Dadi" |
Then he addresses the baby, “Hey you – this is Dadi. Your mother and I are looking forward to seeing you so much.
| "I'll buy you a Newcastle football shirt" |
The first thing I’m going to do is buy a Newcastle football shirt for you.”
| "I don't know why he's not here" |
Sioned cannot understand what has happened to Garry,
| "You must have the scan now" |
but the midwife informs her, “If you don’t have the scan now, you will have to make another appointment,”
| So in goes Sioned |
so she goes in alone.
| "I'm finishing here at Awyr Iach!" |
At Awyr Iach, Linda tells Jason and DJ, “I’ve finished the order for Preseli – and I’m finishing too, here at Awyr Iach.” They both protest that they need her here,
| "You both need whispering lessons" |
but she comments, “You two would be hopeless at poker – you’re the worst liars I’ve ever seen! And you both need whispering lessons too – the cancer has not affected my hearing – yet. If I was a risk here, you should have told me.
| She officially resigns her position |
“I’m ready to go now, so I’d like to tender my resignation, officially.” Jason thanks her for everything.
| The party begins |
Iolo and Tyler have taken Kelly to the Deri, and are in celebratory mood; Mathew brings them a bottle of champagne, and presumes they will not divulge what the celebration is all about. Iolo says that the secret will come out in the end but he will never guess what it is.
| "We'll tell close family members first" |
When Mathew has gone, Iolo proposes, “We’ll tell close family members first – agree?”
They drink a toast;
| "We'll be four before too long, hopefully" |
“The three of us, who will be four before long, hopefully.” Iolo wonders if they might have twins – or triplets, but Kelly does not consider that prospect to be funny.
| "Whatever it is, you seem to be happy" |
Jason has been told that they cannot ask what the occasion is, but whatever it is, they seem to be happy.
| Six packets of Cheese and Onion – really pushing the boat out |
Iolo has just collected six packets of cheese and onion crisps when Gwyneth arrives;
| "A job has come up at Awyr Iach" |
Jason tells her that job has come up at Awyr Iach, and that DJ is fine with it,
| "Mind, this is your last chance" |
so she is very grateful. However he does point out that this is her last chance, so she should be careful.
| They certainly seem to be enjoying themselves |
Over at their table, the three champagne drinkers appear to be having a hilarious time.
| DJ and Dai discuss Linda |
At Bryntirion, Dai and DJ are talking about Linda when she comes in;
| "Talk to me – not about me!" |
“Start showing me more respect, and talk to me – not about me!” she tells them,
| "I'm not dead and buried yet" |
“I’m not dead and buried yet, but if there is help available I want it.”
Dai points out that she will not be able to manage the stairs soon,
| "They put a bed downstairs for Meic" |
and that when Meic Pierce’s cancer reached this stage, they put a bed downstairs for him. DJ argues that this would take every ounce of self-respect from his mother,
| "There's not much self-respect in being carried upstairs" |
but she thinks it is a good idea, as a being carried up and down the stairs would also not do anything for her self-respect.
Then there is a knock at the door,
| A leaving present for Linda |
and Jason arrives with a leaving present for her. He tells her it has been a pleasure having her at Awyr Iach,
| . . . one of Awyr Iach's top of the range body warmers |
and presents her with a purple quilted bodywarmer with her name inscribed upon it.
| Jason is given a big hug |
She hugs Jason.
Having returned to the café, Dani asks Garry what his first album is going to be called;
| "Castrating the cat!" |
he suggests, “Castrating the cat,” but she insists that he has a lovely voice.
| "You've made me very happy" |
“Listen, I know you had plans, but thanks for today,” Dani tells him, “You made me happier than I’ve been for a long time.” They are about to leave when Sioned comes downstairs, and Garry says he will catch up with Dani.
| The spectre of an angry Sioned appears |
He tries to explain to Sioned, but she is in no mood to listen;
| "You've made your choice!" |
“Don’t! You’ve made your choice! Now, leave us alone!”
| Garry has the necklace returned |
She rips off the necklace and hands it to him, then stomps back upstairs.
