5 July 2017

Colin is still unconscious
Britt sits by Colin’s bedside and tells him, “If this is your way of getting me to apologise, it’s not going to work.
"Oh, Col!"
“Oh, Col!”
"You must be able to tell me something"
Eileen is on the phone, trying to get some information;  “You must be able to tell me something – I’m his wife!   He’s been with you for hours!”
"Why would Jim do such a thing?"
Then she tells Adrian, “He and Colin have been friends for years – why would he do such thing?”   Adrian argues that there must be some explanation, and only Jim can tell them.
"And where did you go?"
“You weren’t at home – where did you go?” Eileen asks,
Adrian quickly fabricates a story
and he alleges he went for a walk to the Deri, to give them some privacy.   She wants to know if Jim joined him there,
"I just hope Jim hadn't been drinking"
and hopes that he had not been drinking.
“I’m just as concerned about Jim as you are,” he exclaims, “These questions won’t help – just leave it!”
Jim almost returns home . . .
As Jim is returning, he meets Hannah in the alley;
. . . but then looks up at the flat window . . .
he looks up at the flat window,
. . . and changes his mind
then turns and retraces his steps.
Hannah goes to the chip shop flat, where Chester tells her that his mother is at the hospital, and that Colin is still in a coma.
"They don't know if he will wake up"
“They don’t know if he will wake up,” he says.
"It's Colin – of course he will!"
Hannah insists that this is Colin they are talking about – he is bound to wake up.
"We should never have gone on that stupid trip!"
“We should never have gone on that stupid trip!” laments Chester.   She offers to make him a cup of tea, but he answers, “Why?   You’ve dumped me!”
"The idiot in the car is responsible"
She assures him that she still cares, and points out that the accident is nothing to do with them;  “The idiot who knocked him over and left him there is to blame!”
Chester blames Hannah
Chester asks, “Why was he on that road?   Why did you tell me about Australia?   Why didn’t you wait until we were home?”   She says she did not think it would be a big deal.   “You’re right, it isn’t,” he replies, “Go back, if that’s what you want to do.   Don’t bother coming back – I don’t care!   And close the door on your way out.”
She makes sure to take her vodka with her
She sadly leaves, craftily retrieving her bottle of vodka on the way, while Chester tries to hold back his tears.
"You don't need evidence – he admitted it"
Eileen is trying to look for evidence on the laptop, but cannot work out the password;  Adrian insists she does not need evidence, as Jim has admitted everything.   She would like to know what is going on inside Jim’s head;
"You weren't with him"
“He did not come back until about 8 o’clock, and then went straight to bed – and you weren’t with him.”
He tries to shift the blame to her
Adrian lies that he went to the Bull to meet a friend;  he adds, “Has it crossed your mind that it could be your fault?   I understand Jim hasn’t been himself for a while.   Can you tell me why his behaviour has been so strange?
She does not like what he is suggesting
“Perhaps that’s what was on his mind when he saw Colin on the road – that you had been in bed with his father.”
Jim summons Adrian to a meeting
Then he receives a text from Jim, to meet him in the Bull, and leaves.
"I'm not serving you alcohol"
Hannah comes into the Deri, and Mathew explains he will not serve her with alcohol, as she is underage,
"Keep your hair on – I only want lemonade!"
but she only wants lemonade.   She is rather abrupt with him, then removes the vodka bottle,
She adds some 'kick' to her soft drink
already half-empty, from her bag, and adds some to the lemonade.
Jim rejects the call from Eileen
Jim, waiting in the Bull, has a phone call from Eileen, which he rejects.     Then Adrian arrives,
"They've released me on bail"
and is told that Jim has been released on bail and is not to leave the area.   There was nothing to make them doubt his story.
“You should have said you were driving Eileen’s car,” Jim tells Adrian,
"Eileen's been asking questions"
but he says he was under the impression it was Jim’s car.   Adrian is worried  that she is asking questions and knows there is more to it;  he demands why Jim took the blame.
"You've got more to lose than me"
Jim replies, “You’ve got more to lose than I have – you’ve got a wife and children, who needs you.
"Nobody needs me any more"
“Nobody needs me any more – I want to do this for you.”
Chester enquires about Colin's condition
Britt enters the hospital room, and receives a text from Chester, asking how Colin is;  suddenly, Colin shows signs of movement,
Britt rushes to get a nurse
and Britt calls for a nurse,
"You're all right, Colin"
who assures him he is all right, and they will remove the tube;  Britt is greatly relieved.
"I could be looking at two and a half years"
“I could be looking at two and a half years,” says Jim, and Adrian wants to know if there is anything he can do to help.   “I shall still want to move to Scotland after coming out,” Jim continues, “Work hard at the business, find more investors – I want it to be a success!”
"I'll make you a millionaire, Jim!"
Adrian boasts that he will make Jim a millionaire.
Jim needs some 'Dutch Courage' to face Eileen
“I’d better get another beer before I face Eileen’s questions!” remarks Jim.
"Sorry – I've had a tough week"
In the Deri, Hannah has finished her lemonade and asks for another one;  she is sorry she was a bit rude earlier, but she has had a tough week.
She comments on his 'nice backside' . . .
“I hadn’t noticed until now you had such a nice backside,” she comments,
. . . which Mathew thinks is rather inappropriate
but Mathew considers that be a bit inappropriate, and mentions that she is going out with one of the Monks.
"I'm not with Chester any more"
“I’m not with Chester any more,” she informs him, and he realises this is why her week was so terrible.
Eileen conducts some detective work . . .
Eileen comes in, and asks Mathew who was working there yesterday;  he tells her that he was, so she wants to know how much Jim drank.   “He was here all afternoon, but he didn’t touch a drop,” is the reply.
. . . while Hannah livens up another lemonade
Meanwhile, Hannah is adding vodka to her new glass of lemonade.
"Jim's brother didn't turn up"
“Apparently, he was expecting his brother, but he didn’t turn up,” Mathew goes on, and Eileen is grateful for this information.
"What happened between you and Chester, then?"
Then Mathew turns to Hannah and asks what happened between her and Chester.
"Do I know you?"
Colin looks at Britt, puzzled, and asks who she is;  she is upset that he does not recognise her,
When he winks at her . . .
but then he winks at her.
. . . Britt realises he is pulling her leg
“That knock hasn’t improved your jokes, then!” she exclaims, “I’ve spoken to police, and I know who did this to you – he’s confessed and everything.”   Colin asks who it is and whether he knows them;
"It was Jim!'
“It was Jim,” she replies,
"Jim?   But we're friends"
and he cannot believe it, as they are friends.
"Just wait till I get my hands on him!"
Britt assures him that he will be punished for this, adding, “Since when have the Monks left it to the police?   Oh no, just wait till I get my hands on him!”
"What – you've already released him?"
Eileen is surprised to hear from the police that they have released Jim;  then he walks into the room with Adrian.
"Why did you lie, Jim?"
“Why did you lie, Jim?” she demands, “Mathew says you were in the Deri all afternoon – you weren’t near the place.”
"And what's your alibi?"
Then she turns her attention to Adrian, asking, “What’s your alibi?   The police won’t believe a word when Mathew tells them the truth.   I thought Jim had been drinking – I was trying to persuade Mathew not to tell the police.   I want to know what’s going on.”
"All right – Adrian was the driver"
Jim confesses that Adrian was the driver, and it was an accident.   He panicked because he was driving Eileen’s car,
"You can't go to jail for this idiot!"
but she is angry as he has no right to drive her car.   “You can’t go to jail for this idiot – you have to withdraw your statement!”  she instructs Jim.
"I don't have much of a life!"
Jim insists that he will not let his brother lose two years of his life because of one mistake;  “I don’t have much of a life, but he has a family who need him.   You don’t need me as much as a child needs its father.”
"Please don't do this, Jim!"
She points out that Sioned’s baby won’t have a father, and when Adrian interrupts she tells him to shut his mouth.   “Please don’t do this, Jim – you’ve got every right to live your life.”
Chester is told that Colin is awake . . .
Chester’s mobile phone sounds;  he is relieved to hear Colin is awake, and asks if there is anything he can do.
. . . but is unable to give Hannah the news
He immediately rings Hannah, but there is no reply.
She is obviously at the forefront of his mind
He is sketching a picture of her.
The vodka seems to have affected Hannah
Meanwhile, at the end of the bar, Hannah is shouting, “I want pop!” and banging her glass on the counter.   She asks Mathew if he owns the little moped outside, adding that it looks ridiculous.
"You're drunk!"
Mathew gains the distinct impression that she is drunk, but she replies, “Math, babes, you need to chill out.”
He looks in her bag and finds the vodka bottle, now almost empty;
"Do you know how much trouble I could be in?"
he demands, “Do you know how much trouble I could be in if anyone sees this?”
Gerasint and Mal are amused by Hannah's antics
She argues that she has never seen it before, and does not even know what vodka is, as they do not make it in Australia.
"Dan, I'm taking my break now!"
He tells Dan he is going on his break, and bundles Hannah out of the Deri and up to the flat.
Hannah has problems on the stairs
She has difficulty, climbing the stairs.
Eileen is determined to get to the bottom of this
Eileen continues her inquisition;  “Who exactly were you meeting?   It must have been terribly important to steal a car.”
"I don't have to answer these stupid questions"
Adrian insists that he does not have to answer these stupid questions, but she tells him, “I can go to the police, and spoil your arrangement.”
"Stop it, both of you!"
As Jim shouts at them to stop bickering,
"How could you do such a thing?"
Britt rushes in, asking how Jim could do such a thing.   “He’s supposed to be your friend – what if he died?”
"It was an accident"
Again, Jim insists that it was an accident, and Britt  informs them that Colin is awake again, with no permanent damage
Adrian orders her to get out,
Britt menaces Adrian . . .
but she demands who he is, and warns him to keep his hands off her.
. . . and threatens Jim with dire consequences
She leaves, threatening Jim, “I’m going to make sure you rot in prison for a long time for this!”
"You've got to leave today!"
Jim instructs his brother that it is imperative he must leave today.
Britt is about to call the police . . .
Britt return to her flat, shouting that Jim will not get away with this;  “Jim was the driver!” she rants, “I’m going to find out what the police are doing about it!”
. . . but Chester tells her to chill out first
Chester grabs the phone from her and warns her that she is doing nothing in her present mood, advising her to chill out first.
"I blamed Hannah for what happened"
He reveals that when Hannah came over, he blamed her for what happened – although he did not mean it, he was so angry.
"Well, tell her how you feel"
She urges him to talk to Hannah and to tell her how she feels, as sometimes that is all women want to hear.   When he tries, he gets voicemail again.
"According to this, she's in the Deri"
Then he checks online to find the location of the phone, and thinks it is weird that it says she is in the Deri,
"Go there, then"
so Britt tells him to go there.
Seeing Adrian’s coat on the chair, Eileen goes through the pockets and takes out his phone;
Eileen gets Adrian's phone . . .
she dials a number.   “No, it’s not Adrian – it’s Eileen,” she says, “He’s here,”
. . . and is shocked by what his wife says
but she is shocked by the answer she gets.
"It all got out of hand – and I dumped him!"
In the Deri flat, Hannah admits that it all got out of hand and she dumped him.
"Is that what you want?"
Mathew asks if that is what she wants, and is afraid she is going to be sick.   “I’m not a baby – I can handle booze,” she replies,
"Chester can't see me like this"
and does not want Chester to see her like this.   Mathew is going to make her a coffee.
Chester conducts a search of the Deri
Chester arrives at the Deri, looks for Hannah, and asks Dan,
"She went upstairs with Mathew"
who tells him she went upstairs with Mathew.
"I don't want any coffee!"
As Hannah refuses the coffee, Mathew asks if she wants Dai and Diane to see her like this;  “They don’t have to –
"I could stay here with you instead"
“I could stay here with you instead,” she replies, just as Chester appears in the doorway.
"I don't think Chester or Vicky would be happy with that"
“I don’t think Chester or Vicky would be happy with that,” Mathew tells her, but she says they would not have to find out.
Chester is devastated
Chester turns to go, looking ready to burst into tears.
