| Garry comes out of the the shop |
Garry comes out of the shop and meets Sioned in the alley;
| "I can't be seen with you too often" |
he tells her that he cannot be seen with her too often, and that she knows the score. “Yes – you’ve got two children on the way – one with Dani and one with me!” she answers,
| "Am I talking too loud?" |
“What’s the matter? Am I talking too loud?” He tells her he does not want the whole village knowing his business. “You should have thought about that before sleeping with me,” she snaps, and walks away.
| "Have you got a problem?" |
Hywel approaches and asks Garry if he has a problem; Gary replies it is nothing he cannot handle.
| "The last thing you want is her causing trouble" |
“I hope so, because the last thing you want is her causing trouble,” Hywel remarks.
| Linda thinks about the pills |
Linda sits in her bedroom, holding the bottle of pills; she hides them when DJ comes in and wants her to get dressed,
| "You could do with some fresh air" |
as they are going out for walk, but she does not want to go. “It’s a nice day and you could do with some fresh air,” she is told.
| "Are you feeling worse?" |
DJ is afraid that she is feeling worse, but she denies this, so he decides they are going in 15 minutes.
| Kelly is in apologetic mood |
Kelly returns to number 7, and Tyler hopes she is not looking for an answer, but she apologises, “I wasn’t very sensitive – you know me, I rush into things and then think about it later – but the offer is genuine. The three of us would make fab parents, and that child would have a fantastic life.”
| Iolo does not agree with her prediction |
Iolo doubts that moving from house to house every couple of days could be described thus, and Tyler informs her that they need more time to discuss it,
| "We're not talking about sharing a dog or cat" |
as they are not talking about sharing a dog or a cat here.
| "I can find another way of being a mother" |
“If you’re not interested, there’s no problem, as long as you let me know so I can find another way of being a mother,” she tells them and goes.
| Iolo fears she will be telling them what to do |
“This is how it will be if we agree,” advises Iolo, “She’ll be calling in all the time, telling us what to do.” Tyler wonders what is scaring him so much.
“I know someone who’s done this,” he explains, and Tyler presumes he is talking about Wiliam.
| He tells Tyler about Britt and Aaron |
“No, I mean Britt,” says Iolo, “She decided to be a surrogate for Ffion, and she couldn’t give the baby away. She decided to bring Aaron up herself – I don’t think I could do that – see my child around the place and not having anything to do with him.”
| "It has worked for other people" |
Tyler points out that surrogacy has worked for a lot of other people, but Iolo asks, “What if it goes wrong?”
| Garry has an unwelcome guest |
Sioned arrives unannounced in the Deri flat, much to Garry’s annoyance. He says he is sorry for not calling in more often – and she is aware that it is difficult.
| "I want him to have the best" |
He has been thinking a lot about the baby, and wants him to have the best. Sioned in turn is sorry for having a go at him, but she is tired all the time, with her hormones all over the shop.
He suggests going to the doctor for a checkup, but she replies that it would be easier to go with a bit of company.
| "Look, I have this mate, Steve" |
“But we don’t want people to figure out why I’m spending so much time with you,” he explains, “That’s why I’ve had a word with a mate of mine, Steve. He’s willing to go with you to the hospital for scans and things.”
| "Let people think he's the father?" |
Sioned is furious; “You want me to parade Steve around the place, and let people think he’s the father, so you can keep your name out of this?
| "People will think I'm a real slapper!" |
“People will think I’m a real slapper – forget it!” She marches out of the flat.
| "It would be easier with Kelly" |
Tyler maintains that it would be easier to have a child with Kelly than with a surrogate they do not know, but Iolo protests,
| Iolo does not want 'easy' |
“I don’t want easy, I want a family I am happy with.” Tyler accuses him of not wanting to share, and Iolo does not appreciate the pressure being put on him.
| "I don't want this to come between us" |
“We only got this offer yesterday, and already we’re falling out,” laments Tyler, “I don’t want this to come between us –
| "Let's go for a walk" |
“why don’t we both go out for a walk, and we’ll talk about anything except having children.”
| "Let's go and sit down in the Deri" |
DJ tells his mother that she looks tired, and asks if she wants to sit down in the Deri for a while, but she would rather go home.
| "You're keeping something from me" |
She suspects he is keeping a secret, and he finally admits that he may have arranged a small surprise for her, so they go in.
| Dai works out what he wants to eat |
Dai and Diane are perusing the menu,
| DJ has persuaded his mother |
and welcome Linda;
| Dai wants to order the food |
“Look at the menu, so we can order – I’m starving!” Dai tells them.
| "I haven't come for a drink" |
He goes to the bar to order drinks as Sioned comes in and announces to Garry that she has not come for a drink.
“You’re not having problems with Steve are you?” he asks,
| "I don't intend to contact him!" |
and she snarls that she does not intend to contact him.
“I’m not playing your game any more!” she exclaims, marches round the bar and rings the bell, attracting everyone’s attention.
| Garry worries about what she is about to say |
“Sorry to disturb you all, but I’ve got a bit of news!” she announces.
| "Hallelujah – you're leaving the village!" |
Dai shouts, “Hallelujah – you’re leaving the village!” Sioned continues to inform them that she is expecting a baby, at the end of October. Most of the customers seem to treat this information with disinterest, but Garry looks rather troubled.
| "Aren't you going to tell us who the father is?" |
As she walks back to the customers’ side of the bar, Diane asks, “Aren’t you going to tell us who the father is?” Sioned immediately answers that it is Ed.
| "As if!" |
Kelly, sitting nearby, comments, “As if!” Sioned answers that she has no reason to lie, so Kelly wonders why the big announcement. Sioned says she wanted everyone to know the truth, before they all start talking about her behind her back.
| "Well, I feel sorry for the baby!" |
Sheryl remarks that she feels sorry for the baby, and when rebuked by Hywel, she continues,
| "Not everyone deserves to be a mother!" |
“Not everyone deserves to be a mother!”
“Remind me again, where’s your son?” Sioned demands, and when Sheryl replies that she loves Wil,
| "I love my baby too" |
adds, “I love my baby too.” Kelly voices her suspicion that there is no baby.
| "Are you jealous, Kelly?" |
“What’s the matter, Kelly, are you jealous? I’ve got a photo of the scan, if you want to see it.”
Sheryl suggests that someone should contact social services to tell them what she is like,
| Eifion rebukes Sheryl |
but Eifion wades in, telling her she has gone too far.
| "Are you sure you're not the father?" |
Kelly has her say, “Oh, the village Casanova sticking up for her now – are you sure you’re not the father?”
| "Come on, Sheryl – we're going home!" |
Hywel is eager to get Sheryl out of the Deri, and Garry advises him to do so before she is banned. Sioned appears rather shaken by this exchange, and walks out.
| "Do you think I'm the father too?" |
Garry suggests to Eifion that he should go after her; “What? Do you think I’m the father too?” is the reply.
Diane is disappointed, wondering why Sioned had to walk out, just as she was starting to enjoy herself,
| Dioane and Linda appreciate the entertainment |
and Linda admits she has not had so much fun for ages, as there is nothing better than watching people fall out to lift your spirits. She wonders if Eifion really is the father, but Dai reminds her that Sioned said it was Ed.
| "Eifion enjoys jumping into bed with other women!" |
“You can be really naïve sometimes,” Diane tells him, and DJ agrees that everyone knows Eifion enjoys jumping into bed with other women.
| "Hope she treats the baby better than she treated Ed!" |
Iolo hopes that Sioned treats the baby better than she treated Ed, and Kelly shares his concern.
| "Who else would be stupid enough to sleep with her?" |
“I’m sure it’s not Ed, and I don’t know anyone who would be stupid enough to sleep with her,” she remarks, “Why is Eifion sticking up for her?”
| Hywel admonishes Sheryl |
Back at home, Hywel cannot believe that Sheryl behaved like that, but she insists she only gave her opinion.
| "She drove Ed to kill himself!" |
She insists, “Sioned doesn’t have any feelings – she drove Ed to kill himself – has everyone forgotten that? You sit on the fence and ignore that she abused him!”
| "You ought to stay out of it" |
Hywel advises her to stay out of it.
| "When Garry was hitting me . . ." |
“If everyone had kept out of it when Garry was hitting me, I wouldn’t be here now,” she reminds him, but he points out that she was not pregnant.
| "So hitting a woman is not a problem?" |
“So hitting a pregnant woman is the problem, not hitting a woman?” Sheryl demands, “I’m standing up for what I believe in – anyway, what are you taking such an interest in her? Maybe Kelly is right – and Ed is not the father after all.”
| "Well, it's not Eifion" |
Hywel rather carelessly comments that it is not Eifion.
| "Why are you so sure of that?" |
“Why are you so sure about that,” asks Sheryl, suspiciously, and he waffles on about Eifion being older. “That’s never stopped you!” she exclaims, “This support for Sioned is starting to make me think – you were very quick to defend her.”
| "I'm happy with you" |
He tries to assure her that he is happy with her; “And happy men don’t stray, do they?” she says,
| "You're hiding the truth!" |
“Something tells me that you’re hiding the truth!” In a rage, he walks out of the room.
| Garry notices Sioned crying |
As Garry walks past the Antur, he notices Sioned in the alley, sobbing; checking that no one is watching,
| "Are you OK?" |
he goes over to her, and asks if she is OK. She does not want to see anyone, and walks away from him.
| "How long have you been sleeping with her?" |
Hywel gets some food from the fridge, and Sheryl asks him, “How long have you been sleeping with her?”
| "I never have, and I don't intend to!" |
He replies that he has never slept with Sioned, and does not intend to sleep with her, but she is convinced, “I’m sure you’ve said that about everyone you’ve had an affair with!” As he decides to go out, she adds, “You can run away from your conscience, but you can’t run away from your responsibility!”
| "Right, the truth – Garry is the father!" |
He turns and tells her, “Right, if you want the truth, you’ll get the truth! The baby is nothing to do with me or Ed – Garry is the father! And, before you ask, they’re not together – it was one night.”
| "How am I supposed to face Dani now?" |
Sheryl feels very awkward; “How am I supposed to face Dani now, knowing what Garry has done to her?” Hywel looks exasperated.
| "I wonder what scandal we're missing" |
When they arrive back at Bryntirion, Diane is afraid that they are missing more scandal, and Dai accuses her of drinking too much.
| "I'm making you a strong coffee!" |
He is going to make a strong coffee,
| Linda is exhausted |
but Linda will go for a lie down. Diane determines to return to the Deri, but then decides that Dai can open a bottle of wine instead,
| Diane is going to share the gossip with Anita |
“And I’ll phone Anita to find out what she’s heard.”
| Linda struggles up to the bedroom . . . |
Linda is breathless by the time she reaches her bedroom;
| . . . looks for the pills . . . |
she sits on the bed, and looks in the drawer for her pills, but cannot find them.
| . . . then remembers where she left them |
Then she remembers they are in the pocket of her dressing gown, and breathes a sigh of relief.
| "That Kelly scares me" |
In the street, Iolo admits he just could not stop thinking about Kelly’s offer; “She scares me, the way she was talking about Sioned!
| "Is she the kind of person we want a child with?" |
“Now, be honest, is Kelly the kind of person we want to have a child with?”
| "That's just Kelly's style" |
Tyler explains that is Kelly’s style – going over the top and apologising later.
Iolo wishes they could just turn the clock back to yesterday, when life was simple and the offer had not been made.
| "Look, I'll come over for half an hour" |
On the bench, Garry is sitting with Sioned, who is still in tears; she begs him to come and stay with her,
| "Not half an hour – all night!" |
not just for half an hour, but all night.
| "You know I can't do that" |
“You know I can’t do that,” he replies;
| She reaches out her hand . . . |
she insists that she cannot be on her own, and grasps his hand.
| . . . but he rejects it . . . |
He removes her hand from his knee,
| . . . and she is still alone |
gets up and walks away.
