| Sioned comes out of the café |
Sioned ventures cautiously out of the café, and Cadno congratulates her on the news;
| "I don't believe that about Eifion" |
she does not believe a word of the rumour that Eifion is the father. Dani is approaching the salon, while Hywel and Sheryl are watching from the other side of the road. Cadno says that Denz and Auntie Marian would be thrilled.
| "The secret's out now!" |
Dani breezily remarks, “So the secret’s out then – you don’t have anything to hide now!” and hugs Sioned. “We’ll be like pregnancy pals!”
| "If only she knew!" |
Across the road, Sheryl comments to Hywel, “If only she knew!” and he stresses that she is not going to know,
| "We agreed to keep quiet" |
reminding her that they agreed. “I didn’t agree to anything,” she answers, and he urges her not to do anything rash.
Sara has brought baby Ifan to Bryntirion, and tells Hannah that she really appreciates her help.
| "What's the panic, then?" |
Jason comes rushing in, asking what is wrong, so Sara tells him that Ifan is asleep upstairs.
| Sara is going to get Ifan a school place |
“I’ve talked to a headteacher in Llanelli, and he’s invited us over this morning. Unlike Gaynor, he’s willing for Ifan to go to school there. I don’t want to agree to anything, before I see the place.”
| "We've got three or four years to do that!" |
Jason points out that they have three or four years before they need to make these decisions,
| But it is no good arguing with Sara |
but her mind is made up, and he cannot change it.
| Colin studies a travel brochure |
Colin is looking at a travel brochure in the café;
| "White coffee, please, Gwen" |
Cadno comes in for a cup of coffee, and he asks for her advice.
| Colin asks where Cadno would choose for a holiday |
“If you could go on holiday to anywhere in the world, where would you go?” She replies that she is happy to go to the Royal Welsh, but has always fancied Italy or America.
| "I'd love to go on a cruise" |
She finally decides she would love to go on a cruise;
| Colin is surprised by this |
“Seeing everywhere, getting spoiled rotten, without having to lift a finger.”
| Chester joins Hannah |
Notified that the coast is clear, Chester wastes no time in joining Hannah at Bryntirion;
| "I hope she's paying you for this" |
he hopes that she is getting paid, as they are going on holiday next week and need cash. She reminds him they are only going camping for a few nights.
| "How about a coffee?" |
She offers him a coffee, but he wants to celebrate the end of the exams; “You’re not just babysitting –
| "You're babysitting with me!" |
“you’re babysitting with me!” she tells him.
Sioned comes into the salon, wanting a word with Sheryl;
| Sioned demands an apology . . . |
“I want an apology for what you said!” Sheryl assures her she does not regret what she said,
| . . . but Sheryl stands by what she said |
and that it is true she is not fit to be a mother. Dani warns her to watch what she says, and Britt wonders what this is all about.
| "Not everyone in this place is your friend" |
“Dani, be careful who you support!” Sheryl replies, “Not everyone in this place is your friend, OK?” Then she pointedly advises Sioned. “The door is over there!”
| "You haven't heard the last of this!" |
Snarling that she has not heard the last of this, Sioned leaves.
| "That was a waste of an entire morning!" |
Jason and Sara arrive back from their journey, and Jason remarks, “That was a waste of an entire morning!” Sara blames the headteacher who had not asked how old Ifan was. Jason is relieved, “At least, we can delay looking for a school for a year or two.
| "You heard what the bloke said" |
“You heard what the bloke said – it’s much too early.”
| Chester appears from the kitchen |
Then Sara sees Chester; “What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be babysitting, not canoodling!” Chester thinks it wise to leave, and Hannah will accompany him,
| "Ifan's fast asleep upstairs" |
informing Sara that the baby is fast asleep.
Jason apologises once more for Sara’s outburst,
| "I just hope we don't end up like you two!" |
and Chester comments, “I just hope we don’t end up like you two!”
| "I can't keep quiet any longer!" |
Hywel is working on the laptop when Sheryl comes in and says she cannot keep quiet any longer; “Sioned came into the salon, looking for an apology – and Dani stuck up for her! Sioned’s sleeping with Garry! I know the truth now, and I can’t keep quiet.”
| "What would Garry do if the truth came out?" |
He replies that she must keep quiet to save her own skin, asking what Garry would do if the truth came out – he would think that Sheryl had ruined his life.
| "I'm not going to let him make a fool of Dani!" |
Undeterred, she tells him, “I’m not going to let Garry make a fool of Dani!”
| "I thought Sioned was going to slap her!" |
Britt admits to Colin that she thought Sioned was going to slap Sheryl; he replies, “She’s used to doing that, isn’t she?”
| "She said Sioned's not fit to be a mother" |
Britt is surprised that she told Sioned she was not fit to be a mother.
Eileen has just arrived, and heard that last sentence;
| "It was only a misunderstanding" |
Britt explains that it was just a misunderstanding, and Eileen realises that the story is out.
| "I've been looking for you, Gran!" |
At that moment, Cadno arrives, saying, “I’ve been looking for you, Gran!”
| Dani brings Sheryl's keys |
Dani brings the keys which Sheryl left in the salon,
| "Garry will be doing the nightshifts!" |
and tells her that when her baby arrives, Garry will be doing the nightshifts. “He’s promised you that, has he?” asks Sheryl,
| "He's more excited than I am!" |
and Dani replies that he is more excited than she is.
| "There are things you don't know" |
“That’s how men are – they promise you the world,” says Sheryl, “I’m worried about you – there are things you don’t know.”
| Hywel is forced to intervene and change the subject |
Hywel steps in, pointing out that Sheryl is upset, after everything which happened with Meilyr. This has the desired effect; Dani apologises and leaves.
| "I thought you were going to tell her!" |
“I thought you were going to tell her!” rages Hywel, “I know it’s not easy, but the right thing to do is to keep quiet.”
| "I shall do the right thing for Dani" |
She insists that she is going to do the right thing for Dani.
| Sara tells her problems to Britt . . . |
In the Deri, Britt sympathises with Sara that it is difficult, spending all day with a little one, but Sara says Ifan is not the problem. She is disappointed that she cannot find a school for him, but Britt answers that there is plenty of time for that;
| . . . but is told not to put herself under pressure |
“You don’t have to sort out everything right at the start – don’t put so much pressure on yourself. Enjoy yourself with Ifan while you can – he’ll grow up quickly enough!”
| Chester sneaks behind the bar to help himself |
Chester sneaks into the Deri, goes behind the bar and helps himself to a bottle of champagne; Britt shouts at him,
| "It's only one bottle to celebrate!" |
but he argues that it is to celebrate the end of the exams.
| They exit rapidly with two other bottles |
He grabs two other bottles instead, then he and Hannah make a hasty exit.
| "Everyone is talking about me" |
Eileen tells Cadno that everyone is talking about her; Jim has left, and now this. “After what Sioned did to Ed – she doesn’t know what is ahead of her. We’ve both brought up children with the support of a father, even if they haven’t always been there.
| Cadno listens sympathetically to her tale of woe |
“Sioned won’t have that support – and why is she telling everyone now, before she has to?”
Back at the chip shop flat, Colin asks Britt to sit down for a moment, but before he can tell her anything,
| "Come on then – tell me off!" |
Chester marches in, saying, “Come on then – tell me off for trying to steal the champagne.”
Colin replies that he might need some when he hears what he has to say. “You’re not getting married, are you?” exclaims Chester.
| This suggestion shocks both Britt and Colin |
That was not Colin’s intention, much to Britt’s relief, but rather he has something to give Chester.
“I want you to have something for the future,” he says, handing over a bank book,
| "There's one each for Catrin and Aaron as well" |
“There’s one each for Catrin and Aaron as well.”
| "Ten grand?" |
Chester is somewhat astounded to find it is £10,000, but maintains there are lots of things he needs,
| "Where's the card that goes with the account?" |
and wants to know where is the card that goes with the account.
| Britt will be the custodian of the card |
Colin informs him, “Here’s the card – but it goes to your Mam, and she’ll decide when you can take money out.” Chester is aggrieved that he has all this money and cannot spend it on what he wants.
| Britt is very pleased with Colin |
Britt is overcome by Colin’s generosity.
| Ifan pays a visit to APD |
Jason is working in APD when Sara arrives with the baby; she apologises for this morning
| "I didn't quite catch that, Sara!" |
and admits he was right. It is too early to worry about a school for Ifan. “I’ve just realised that we need to enjoy today, instead of worrying about tomorrow.”
| They are looking forward to an early night |
Jason has an idea about how they can enjoy the present, suggesting a takeaway and an early night; this is the moment when Ifan starts crying.
| "What were you thinking?" |
When Sioned gets home, Eileen is waiting for her; “I heard about what you did last night – what were you thinking, telling everyone like that?”
| "I can't hide it much longer" |
Sioned replies that she cannot hide it for much longer, and displays the baby clothes she has been buying.
| "People will be asking who the father is" |
Eileen is worried she is putting too much pressure on herself, and people will be asking who is the father.
| "I've already told them that it's Ed" |
“I have already told everyone that Ed is the father – everyone accepts that – except Kelly – and she thought it was Eifion,” stresses Sioned, “Only you, me and Garry know the truth – and none of us are going to say anything, are we? Everything is going to be fine, Mam.”
| Eileen does not agree that everything will be fine |
Eileen is not so sure.
| "We're going shopping tomorrow!" |
In the Deri, Dani tell Sheryl that Garry is taking her shopping tomorrow, to buy a pram, a cot, a bath, everything.
| "Sorry, Sheryl – there I go again" |
Then she apologises again for saying stuff without thinking. Sheryl understands that she is happy, and Dani confirms that she is happier than she has ever been.
| "Make sure Garry spends every penny on the baby" |
Sheryl wants her to enjoy every minute, and she should make sure Garry spends every penny on her and the baby.
| "What have you told her?" |
Hywel comes in, looking worried, but Sheryl assures him she has not said anything;
| "I've decided to keep my mouth shut" |
“I’ve decided to keep my mouth shut – I’m not going to say a word, because I want Dani to be happy. I’m not doing it to save Garry’s skin.”
| "I wish someone would give me that kind of money!" |
“I wish someone would give me that kind of money!” says Hannah, enviously,
| "It's no good in a bank" |
but Chester moans that it is no good in a bank – he cannot touch any of it without his mother’s permission. They could do with a few hundred next week.
| Hannah thinks they can enjoy themselves without the money |
She is confident they can enjoy themselves without the money.
| Colin lists where else the money has gone |
Britt enquires what Colin has done with the rest of the money, and he tells her he has paid back what he owed to Gaynor, and a significant sum goes to Izzy and Lois.
| "The inheritance gives me a clean slate" |
“This inheritance gives me a clean slate,” he says,
| "Don't worry – I haven't forgotten you" |
“But don’t worry – I haven’t forgotten you.”
She protests, rather unconvincingly, that she does not want anything, and he informs her, “We’re going on holiday – a cruise for a fortnight – the perfect way to remember Dad.”
| "Oh, Colin, looking at the waves makes me seasick" |
Britt looks disappointed, and confesses, jokingly, “I only have to look at the waves and I feel seasick!” but then assures Colin
| "Only joking – I'm a Monk!" |
that she is a Monk, and her stomach can handle anything.
| They look forward to their cruise |
They embrace.
| "It's not too late to think about an abortion" |
Eileen brings Sioned cup of tea; “I know it’s a hard decision, but it’s not too late to think about an abortion,” she suggests, “Well, it would solve a lot of problems.”
| "You want me to kill my baby?" |
“You want me to kill my baby?” Sioned shouts, but her mother points out she should have a baby under the right circumstances.
| "You'll have opportunities in the future" |
She is young, and will have plenty of opportunities in the future.
Sioned cannot believe she is hearing this;
| Sioned is becoming angry |
“What are you going to suggest next? That I have the baby and give it away for adoption? Interfering parents ruined things for you – and you’re doing exactly the same to me now! There’s nothing to misunderstand – you want me to have an abortion! I want this baby, Mam, you will have to accept that.”
| "You must think about everything" |
Eileen wants her to think about everything;
| "Just go – and don't come back!" |
“Just go – and don’t come back!” roars Sioned, “You’re not welcome here!”
