"I happened to be passing"
Elgan Pritchard ‘just happens to be passing’ and calls on Gaynor;  he asks if she fancies going out for a meal tonight, but she invites him to come at six o’clock, and she will cook them a meal.
Gaynor enjoyed the CD
She tells him that she has listened to the CD and enjoyed it.
Then she has a phone call from Hywel;
"That's very helpful, Hywel"
“That’s very helpful – thank you, Hywel!” she says,
"Very bad news for someone – once again!"
and remarks to Elgan, “That was a very bad news for someone – once again!”
Kelly finds it difficult to make up her mind
Kelly is in her bedroom, agonising over what to wear for her meeting with Morgan.
"I always knew it was Chester!"
Gaynor goes to see Ffion, advising her that Hywel knows where the essays came from.   Ffion had suspected it was Chester Monk’s doing;
Ffion cannot wait to see the back of Chester
“Please make a case for expelling him!” she exclaims, but Gaynor points out that she must follow procedure, and does not wish to disrupt the exams.   “He’s disrupting his exams – as well as everyone else’s!” is Ffion’s reply, “You have to be seen to protect the innocent people in all this, not brushing things under the carpet.”
Hannah needs some coffee
At Bryntirion, Hannah needs a cup of coffee;
"Why were you up so late last night?"
Diane asks why she was up so late last night, and she explains she was Skyping her friends in Australia, who were on the beach.   Diane suggests that she look for a temporary job, as it would be nice for her to have something other than her laptop and Chester Monk.
"Chester has started a business!"
“The latest about Chester is that he started a business – selling essays to pupils,” says Diane, “Did you know about this?”
"Chester always gets the blame!"
Hannah looks disgusted;  “It doesn’t matter what Chester says or does, he’ll always get the blame.   Diane considers that she ought to go into politics with her talent for avoiding questions.   “He had nothing to do with selling those essays – OK?” Hannah insists.
Kelly arrives for her meeting
Kelly walks tentatively into the bar, and is noticed by Morgan;
Morgan greets her warmly
he asks what she is drinking, and she decides to have an Americano.
"That neckace suits you"
He says that her pheasant necklace suits her, and is very pleased that she likes it.   She remarks that she has not been to Swansea for ages, and reveals that she originated from Merthyr;
"Oh, what a coincidence – that's where I come from!"
he, very conveniently, says that he is from that part of the world too, and was born on the Gurnos estate.   He moved to West Wales and then to London.
Kelly enquires how he became involved with animal rights,
He is traumatised by the fur farm
and he replies that he did a stint on a fur farm in the 80s, which had a lasting effect on him.
“What about the bloke working with you . . . er . . . Gethin, is it?” Morgan asks, and is told that he had a tough upbringing – like her – and it makes them want to protect the innocent.
"We both had to take care of ourselves"
They have both had to take care of themselves.
Chester and his mother have been called to see the headteacher . . .
In the headteacher’s office, Britt protests that this is the first she has heard about these essays.
. . . but Chester seems disinterested
Gaynor explains, “We didn’t have evidence that Chester was responsible –
"An expert has traced the essays to this address"
but we do now – an expert has traced the essays to this address – your address!”   She shows them a piece of paper, presumably bearing an IP address.
"I have my human rights!"
“This is illegal – I have my human rights!” argues Chester.   Britt is very concerned that he has been selling Siôn’s essays for money.   Gaynor points out that it is not just Siôn’s, but other teacher’s essays too.   They thought they were helping Chester with his coursework.
"Then other options should be considered"
She confirms that Chester will receive the schools support during the exam period, but then other options should be considered, if Chester intends to continue his education.
“The school isn’t getting the best out of Chester, despite trying for years,” Gaynor goes on,
"I don't want to go to another school!"
but Chester insists he does not want to go to another school.   She suggests they should concentrate on the exams for now, and then discuss the future later.
Morgan outlines his plan of action
Morgan’s first plan is that they pretend that they have stayed at Penrhewl and write bad reviews about the terrible time they had there – substandard tents, poor facilities, uncomfortable beds.
"Then the bad reviews will come up"
Then when people look up Penrhewl or glamping online, the bad reviews will come up.
"That's naughty!"
“Naughty, but effective,” he comments, “Companies have closed because of bad reviews.   I’m hungry – can I buy you a meal?” and he calls for a menu.
The old Moc, that we know and hate
As Kelly leaves for the toilet, Morgan stares calculatedly at her.
"I know he could be expelled"
Gaynor is wearing curlers when there is a knock on the door and Hannah appears;  “You know that Chester and I are dating, don’t you?” she begins, “So I know all about the meeting he had with you today – and that he could be expelled.
"It had nothing to do with Chester!"
But it was my fault – it had nothing to do with Chester.   I wanted a money quick fix, but it got out of hand.   I’ve closed down the website, and I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused!”
"What was Chester doing while you used his computer?"
Gaynor enquires what Chester was doing while she was working on his computer,
"He tried to stop me!"
and Hannah replies that he tried to stop her;  it all started as a bit of fun.   “I’m so sorry – I promise it will never happen again!”
Gaynor is in a hurry for her to leave, as she is expecting a visitor.
"Mr Teflon has got away with it again!"
As soon as she is alone, she phones Ffion, rather irritatedly informing her, “Well, Mr Teflon has got away with it again!   Hannah has been over, claiming she was the brains behind the essays!”
"Well, Hannah's lost her place, thanks to him"
Ffion points out that Hannah has lost her place at the school, thanks to him.
Kelly is subjected to in-depth questioning
Morgan questions Kelly about how long she has lived in Cwmderi, and asks if she has photos of the people she spoke about, Auntie Anita and Gethin,
Their meal arrives
as he likes to put faces to the names.   She shows him photos on her phone, and he comments that Auntie Anita looks nice.
"Gethin, with his partner, Ffion . . ."
There is another photo, showing Gethin with Ffion,
". . . and their daughter, Arwen"
and of their daughter, Arwen.
“Ffion’s nice – she has a fair share of demons, but she’s all right now,” Kelly tells him, “It’s no secret – she’s an alcoholic –
"We locked her in the flat for a week to detox her!"
Gethin, Dani and I locked her in the flat for a week to detox her!”
"Who's this Dani, then?"
He innocently asks who Dani is.
“Gethin’s sister – a bit of a character – someone that you wouldn’t want to mess with,” she replies, “Really tough – there are dark secrets in that family, from what I understand.
"Dark secrets to do with their father"
Something to do with the father – it wouldn’t be fair to gossip.”
"There are two sides to every story"
Morgan points out that there are two sides to every story,
"Not this story – he's on the run from the police!"
but she doubts if this applies to this particular story, as Gethin hates him.   “This guy is on the run from the police –
"And there's no smoke without fire!"
and theres no smoke without fire, is there?” she demands.
Britt is, understandably, furious with Chester
At the chip shop flat, Britt snatches the games console from Chester;  “You’re not getting this back until after the exams!” she snarls,
"Do you think life will go back to normal?"
“Do you think your life will go back to normal, after what you’ve done?   After all the chances that school’s given you?   I felt so ashamed, sitting there in front of Gaynor today,
"All you're going to do is revise!"
so from now on, all you’re going to do is revise until after the exams!   And then maybe – if you do really well – I’ll get Gaynor to reconsider.”
"It's all right – I've solved the problem!"
Hannah arrives, and informs them she has sorted it out;  “I’ve been to see Gaynor and told her I was behind the essays, so she cannot expel you!”
"You're a lifesaver!"
He calls her a lifesaver, and hugs her.
"You've got yourself into a lot of trouble!"
Britt is far from happy about the situation, as Hannah may have got herself into a lot of trouble.
"And it's all your fault!"
“If she has, it will all be your fault!” she warns Chester.
Gaynor has been let down by Elgan
Gaynor takes the meal from the oven;  it is overcooked and Elgan is very late.   She pours herself a glass of wine as consolation, and then he arrives, full of apologies.
"The meal is ruined!"
“Well, the meal is ruined!” she tells him,
"My old friend, Huw, is getting married – again"
but he explains that an old friend phoned, who he has not spoken to for years – he is getting married for the third time, and Elgan could not get rid of him.
He asks Gaynor if she will accompany him to the wedding;  “He’s rented somewhere in the Cotswolds, and says it’s like Downton Abbey.   He works in the private sector, so he has loads of money.”
"I'll check my diary"
Gaynor replies that she will check her diary.
Dr Pritchard's rather extravagant gift . . .
Unfortunately, the meal is no longer edible, but he invites her to see what he has brought for her, although he realises it might be rather early to buy a gift like this.   She discovers a sparkly black dress, which must have cost a fortune, and she describes it as fantastic.
. . . which Gaynor cannot wait to try on
He asks whether he is forgiven, and will take her out for a meal, but she wants to try on the dress first.
"Is Hannah here?"
Ffion calls at Bryntirion, wanting to speak to Hannah, and tells her, “I heard what you said to Gaynor –
Diane is appalled by what she hears
you’re making a big mistake, Hannah!”   Diane does not know what Ffion is talking about, so is told, “Hannah has taken the blame for Chester’s latest scam – he was selling essays to pupils.”
"You've got a personal problem with Chester!"
Hannah protests that Ffion is only here because she has a personal problem with Chester, but is assured,
"This is not a personal vendetta"
“I’m not doing this because of a personal vendetta.   Chester has destroyed a lot of lives, and I don’t want to see your name added to that list.”
Hannah angrily responds that no-one knows Chester like she does, but Ffion reminds her, “You’ve admitted a serious offence – Gaynor could refuse you a place at the new community school.”
"Oh, Hannah!"
Ffion leaves, and Hannah runs upstairs.
At 'The Waiting Room' (Clare Street, Cardiff)
After their meal, Morgan wants to pay the bill, and will not allow Kelly to pay her share.   He says, “Ive got an important meeting – we have a protest this weekend at a laboratory where they experiment on animals,
"Morality takes precedence over legality"
a protest where morality takes precedence over legality.
They are both glad that they have been able to meet;  “You’re really fascinating – do you know that?” he says,
"I never thought of myself as fascinating!"
but she has never thought of herself as being particularly fascinating.   As he picks up his coat and briefcase, he asks if she would like them to meet again, and she assents to this.
Moc knows just how to deceive women
“Take care,” he says, gives her a peck on the cheek, and leaves;  Kelly appears somewhat smitten.
