| Sheryl has picked up the post |
Sheryl picks up the post and finds one letter
| Her letter from the Trichology Clinic |
from the Trichology Clinic of London, offering her an appointment. She hides the letter when she hears Hywel coming;
| Hywel urges her and Dani to go to the shampoo launch |
another item of post is about the launch of a new shampoo at a spa,
| "We don't need any new stock" |
but she tells him the salon does not need any new stock.
Then he has a phone call from Gaynor, who wants to come and see him;
| Hywel obviously knows where she hides things |
at the same time he retrieves the letter from its hiding-place.
| Dai indulges in some fly-posting |
Dai is sticking multiple copies of a leaflet on Josh’s caravan;
| "My posters, my land!" |
Kath objects to this and calls to Josh. “My posters, my land!” Dai tells her, and when offered a cup of tea, tells Josh,
| "Stuff your tea – I'm busy!" |
“Stuff your tea – I’m busy!”
Kath begins removing the leaflets, which read ‘CWMDERI STREETS FOR CWMDERI PEOPLE!’
| "Have you got a bacon and egg roll?" |
Josh comments, “Nice cup of tea – have you got a bacon and egg roll to go with it?”
| Gaynor brings her misbehaving laptop |
Gaynor brings her laptop to Hywel, as it is causing trouble; she refuses Sheryl’s offer of a coffee, on doctor’s orders.
| It seems that Dr Pritchard is a hit with the ladies |
“If anyone can lower your stress levels, it’s Doctor Gorgeous,” Sheryl tells her, and reveals that she has been to see him too. He sounded very positive about her condition.
| "Maybe you should ask Doctor Gorgeous" |
Hywel grumbles, “Maybe you should ask Doctor Gorgeous if you can go to that shampoo thing!”
| "I'm trying to be supportive, too" |
When Gaynor has gone, he points out that he is trying to be supportive too.
| Llinos is subjected to the 'hard sell' |
As part of his campaign, Dai is haranguing Llinos in the shop,
| "Take no notice of him!" |
but Kath warns her not to take notice of what he says, and tears up his leaflets. Siôn comes into the shop as
| "He's not a law-abiding citizen!" |
Dai is accusing Josh of not being a law-abiding citizen.
| "Haven't you ever broken the law?" |
“Haven’t you ever broken the law?” asks Siôn, “Or bent it?”
| "It's parked outside my place!" |
Dai rants on about the caravan parked outside his place, and Josh points out that Dai is talking about his home. Siôn advises, “A roof over our head is a basic human right,” but Dai does not want it on his land.
| "What's really bothering you?" |
“What’s really bothering you?” enquires Siôn, “The fact that there is a gypsy in the village, or that he’s parked on APD’s land?” Dai insists that he will wait until the meeting tonight, and see what the people say.
After Dai has stormed off, Siôn assures Josh that he will be all right; he will see them at the meeting later.
| Kelly is being flattered by Morgan . . . |
Kelly is on the phone; “Yes, you’re a genius! she says, “I’m not good at taking compliments from a stranger.
| . . . and is loving it |
“Right, just send the stuff through to me, and then if you think it’s workable . . .”
| "You sound very friendly" |
Anita remarks, “You sound very friendly, considering you’re talking about pheasants. Don’t you think this animal protest is turning into a monster? It’s taking over your life!” Kelly is confident that everything is under control, but then Anita points out that she is ten minutes late for her shift at the café, and Kelly rushes upstairs to get ready.
| "Come to the meeting in the Deri" |
Siôn goes to see Hywel, wanting him to go to the Deri tonight, but is told Hywel is having a night in.
| "Rather cuddle up with Sheryl than listen to Dai?" |
Siôn asks, incredulously, “You would rather cuddle up to Sheryl than listen to Dai?”
| "There won't be a lot of cuddling" |
but Hywel does not anticipate much cuddling going on, maintaining that he is not a lot of use to her these days.
“I’d like to be cuddling up to someone,” Siôn admits, “Being a middle-aged man isn’t ideal!” but Hywel thought that he enjoyed the peace and quiet, and encourages him to find someone else.
| "Intellectual silver fox, eclectic taste in women!" |
“There are plenty of places,” he says, “The chapel, the strip club, the Internet – Intellectual silver fox, eclectic taste in women,” and Siôn expects them all to be queueing up. As he leaves, he reminds Hywel that he knows Sheryl better than anyone.
| "Calm down with the protesting" |
As Kelly gets ready to leave, Anita advises her to calm down with the protesting.
| "You haven't been yourself since Ed disappeared" |
“You haven’t been yourself since Ed disappeared. Don’t rush into whatever’s going on between you and the bloke on the phone.”
| "This is the only incentive I have to get up" |
Kelly replies that at the moment, this campaign is the only incentive she has to drag herself out of bed, and demands why Anita cannot back her up. “You loved pointing out that I’m late –
| "I'm doing something with a purpose!" |
“but I’m using my time to do something with a purpose – I’m making a difference!”
Anita reminds her that she is saving pheasants, not brokering a peace deal in the Middle East. Kelly stalks off, shouting, “I’m not a nut job! I’ve got one mother – and I definitely don’t need another!”
| Josh had a good meal at the café |
Josh comes out of the café and congratulates Debbie on an excellent meal; Kelly comes rushing along the street, apologising for her lateness.
| "Will you be at the meeting?" |
Kath is still removing leaflets, and asks if Debbie will be at the meeting, as Josh will need her support.
| "I'm not going to support him!" |
“I’m not going to support him!” is the angry reply, “He’s parked outside Dai’s business – we’re all trying to make a living, and it’s hard sometimes. I wouldn’t like it if he parked outside the café!”
| "He's about to lose his home" |
When Kath insists that Josh is about to lose his home, Debbie tells her, “He’s used to moving around – he takes his home with him, like a tortoise. Why are you so worried – unless you have some feelings for him? None of us should feel obliged to stick up for Josh.”
| "Do you intend to go to the meeting?" |
After he has sorted out the laptop for Gaynor, Sheryl asks Hywel if he intends to go to the meeting tonight; “I thought we could have a night in – I want to talk to you about something,” he answers.
| "How can you be so cool?" |
In the Deri, Kath wonders how Josh can be so cool about things;
| "I'm too old and ugly to worry" |
“I’m too old and ugly to worry about what idiots like Dai think of me,” he tells her, “The fact is, I’m on his land. If the consensus tonight is that I should move on, well, that’s it, but I won’t go far –
| "Debbie is warming towards me" |
“I’m not going to leave the area now Debbie is warming towards me.”
| "Don't get too excited" |
Kath warns him not to get too excited.
In the café, Kelly apologises to Anita for her outburst;
| Anita delivers Kelly's post |
Anita has brought Kelly’s post.
| It is a gift from Morgan . . . |
She opens it and finds a pendant, in the shape of pheasant, from Morgan, needless to say.
| . . . which puts a smile on Kelly's face |
“He’s doing something right, if he’s putting that smile on your face,” laughs Anita,
| "Can we come to an agreement?" |
“Can we come to an agreement? I’ll promise not to worry so much, if you’ll let me help you sometimes. Can we start saving those pheasants?”
| They hug, unnoticed by Mal and Llinos |
They hug, and Anita says they must stick together.
| Kath and Mark arrive . . . |
Kath and Mark arrive at the Deri,
| . . . where Dai seems to be rather isolated |
where Dai appears to be on his own; Josh is talking to Siôn, who insists that he will pay for this round
| "Where are all your protesters?" |
“Where are all your protesters?” he asks Dai.
| "We have a problem – Chester!" |
Gaynor comes in and tells Siôn that there is a problem – Chester. “We’ve just found out someone is selling essays to pupils. Chester says you’re the one doing it.”
| "He said what?" |
He is horrified by this accusation; she knows Siôn has done nothing wrong, but has to launch an official investigation.
| "You keep away from him, right?" |
“I know what his game is – but keep away from Chester, right?” she warns.
| A housewife's work is never done |
Sheryl has put Esther to bed and is about to load the washing machine, but Hywel wants to talk about what came in the post – that letter from the clinic.
| "Why did you hide it?" |
He asks why she hid it; “I know that you’re against it, and I’ve changed my mind,” she replies.
| "We can't afford it, Hywel" |
He cannot understand this, but she maintains it is not practical, and that they cannot afford it.
| "I contacted the clinic" |
Hywel accepts that they will have to save up, but he has checked the figures; “I contacted the clinic and they want you to confirm the appointment,” he announces,
| "Well, you must cancel it!" |
but she insists it costs too much and tells him to cancel it.
| "It's about time we put you first!" |
He will not do so, arguing that she always puts everyone else first, but now it is her turn. Sheryl is adamant that it would involve travelling to London, but Hywel reassures her that they can sort something out.
| "What if it doesn't work?" |
“What if it doesn’t work? We will have spent all the money, and then what?”
He replies that if she does not go, they will never know; “At least we will have tried – and then we can try something else.”
| He extends a hand of friendship |
When Josh offers to shake his hand, Dai snarls, “Keep your dirty hands away from me!”
| Dai shoves him away . . . |
and pushes Josh away.
| . . . knocking Debbie's drink all over her |
He collides with Debbie, spilling her drink, and Mark thinks he ought to go home as he has had one too many.
| "Let me buy you another one!" |
Josh offers to buy Debbie another one; “I don’t want a drink from you!” she exclaims, “Dai had every right to call this meeting – it’s a shame there are too many wimps here who won’t say how they feel.
| "We don't want any more of your type around here!" |
“The fact is, you’re trespassing on Dai’s land, and you know it! Have you thought about how landing illegally outside APD is affecting Dai’s business? Move your caravan – we don’t want any more of your type around here!”
| Kath wants to put a stop to this |
He turns to face her; “And what is my type?” he asks. Kath thinks it is time for him to go.
| "Avoiding any responsibilities!" |
“Debbie continues, “Go when and where you want, avoiding any responsibilities!”
Josh tells her she has no idea how they live, for which she is grateful.
| "You, of all people, should understand" |
“That is sad – you, of all people, should understand,” he says,
| "Your mother is a gypsy, just like me!" |
“You should know, because your mother is a gypsy, just like me!
| Debbie is stunned by this allegation |
“So we’re the same type, you and me.”
