Eileen is making pastry for an apple tart when Sioned pays her a visit.

“It won’t help your waistline,” she points out, “There’s no point running, then eating a tart that’s full of sugar!”

| "Have you come to have a go at me?" |
Eileen demands when she wants something or has just come to have a go at her mother.
“I have some news,” says Sioned, “It came as rather a surprise,

| "I'm pregnant!" |
“but I’m pregnant.” Eileen suspects that this is some kind of ploy,

| "Looking for sympathy, are you?" |
saying she is pregnant in order to get some sympathy. “I wouldn’t lie about this sort of thing,” Sioned insists, but her mother points out that it would not be the first time. Sioned stalks off to get the test, so she can prove it.

| "Social Services want to talk to me" |
In the Deri flat, Mathew informs Dani that he has to go somewhere; “Social Services want to talk to me, because I live here; but don’t worry – you’re great with Gwern – he’s very lucky to have you.”

| "I'm going to phone the shop again" |
Dani is going to phone the shop again to ask why her fish died, then she will clear the stuff from the salon. She also has to cover at the garage later.

| "What is the point?" |
“If the fish all die after one day in my care, what is the point?” she demands, “It upset me, seeing them all dead – I don’t want to see that again!”

| "Everything is going to be fine, Dan!" |
Mathew insists that he will help her at the salon, and tries to reassure her that everything is going to be fine; he will make sure she is OK.

Sioned returns with the pregnancy test; “If you had got pregnant sooner, maybe none of this would have happened,” remarks Eileen,

| "That proves I'm telling the truth" |
as Sioned passes her the test, confirming she is telling the truth. She does not know how she feels about this, having not given it a lot of thought, and she found out only yesterday.

Eileen maintains it will not be easy, being a single mother. “I might not be,” Sioned answers confidently, “The father might want to be a part of it – it’s not Ed,

Eileen is dumbfounded.

| "Shall we go to Crymych?" |
Anita calls at Bryntirion; Linda is not there, having gone to the village, and Anita asks if DJ fancies going to Crymych. He knows that it has to be done, but feels so depressed;

“Getting Mam’s house ready for her death.”

| "After a while, you don't think about it" |
Anita would rather think of it as changes that will make her life easier; “I remember when we first changed the house for Meic – he hated it, and so did I. But after a while, you don’t think about it.”
DJ ponders, “It must be strange, seeing the house where you have been happy turned into a hospital ward.”

Anita replies that they have no other choice, and they leave for Crymych.

Sioned declares, “I was lonely – you know how much everyone in the village hates me!”

| "You know how sympathetic Garry Monk is!" |
Her mother comments that everyone knows how sympathetic Garry Monk is, adding that Garry has never done anything for anyone, unless there is something in it for him.

| "Do you really believe he will support you?" |
“Do you really believe that Garry Monk will support you through this?” Eileen asks,

| "He and Dani are not happy" |
and Sioned maintains that he and Dani are not happy, as he wants more children and she does not.
“They run several businesses together – do you see Garry throwing that away because you got yourself pregnant?” demands Eileen, and then goes on, “Don’t say it was deliberate?”
Sioned assures her that it was not, but, “Now that it has happened, there is a chance it might work out for me!” Her mother advises that putting Garry Monk in a corner is dangerous.

“I’m offering something he’s always wanted – another child!” Sioned confidently asserts, “That’s more than Dani will give him!”

| "Everything went fine" |
Dani has cleaned out her fish tanks when Mathew returns and tells her everything went fine; “I said you and Gwern have a great relationship and that he adores you.

| "I doubt if they have a case against you" |
“I doubt that they have a case against you.” Seeing her removing the fish tanks, he goes on, “This was is your dream – a business of your own. This room is yours to use –

| "Your career doesn't depend on fish!" |
“do something else instead – your career doesn’t depend on fish!”
She argues that everything she does goes wrong; Mathew tells her that it is a universal law that everything must go right again, and suggests they have a brainstorming session about her options. She agrees, as anything is better than self-pity.

Eileen is at the bar in the Deri when Colin comes in, wanting a word with her;

| . . . and Eileen wants to escape |
she is nervous and tries to leave, but he takes her to a corner.

| "You know I want to find out who the woman was" |
“You know how much I want to find out who the woman was,” he tells her, “And there’s the business about the money – what he’d like me to do with it.

| "I'm going to see a psychic" |
“I’ve made an appointment to go and see a psychic. He’s a good bloke, been helping the police, and all that. Britt thinks it’s a crazy idea, so I haven’t told her.”

| "Oh, you don't want to do that, Colin!" |
Eileen urges him to take notice of Britt, adding that these people can take advantage, and he might feel worse after going.

| "I've got a chance to find out" |
However, Colin’s mind is made up, and he thinks she has a chance to find out who the woman was.

| "Actually, I can contact the dead" |
Eileen is becoming desperate by now; “I can contact the dead,” she alleges, “Not many people know that.”

| "Is that what you were doing?" |
Colin asks if that was what she was doing in Dad’s room that day, when she said she was praying.

| "Er, something like that" |
“Something like that,” she haltingly replies.
“Did you get some sort of message?” he enquires, “You did, didn’t you?” She improvises, telling him it was more of a feeling – that Sam is happy, and at peace – and all he wants is for Colin to be happy and carry on with his life.

| Colin is relieved |
She convinces him that there is no point in going to see that psychic, and Colin breathes a sigh of relief, but what he says next troubles Eileen greatly;

| "How about a living wall?" |
In the Deri flat, Mathew suggests a living wall – with plants growing all over it, and Dani fancies the idea of an Eco-Spa, using organic stuff.

“There would be a cosy atmosphere in there – A Secret Garden Spa!”

He proposes a toast; ‘to things going right again!’
Dani tells him, “Thanks to you – and the universal law!”

She hugs him,

and then realises that it was a bit over the top.

Sioned puts on lipstick, and agonises about which top to wear.

DJ and Anita arrive at Linda’s house in Crymych,

but DJ finds that his key will not open the door. They go round to try the back door,

but find children’s toys in the garden and inside the door, which DJ finds very confusing, and he decides to go to see the door neighbour, Mrs Hodges.

Unfortunately, no one answers the door at number 32, as Mrs Hodges is out, so they have to wait.

Sioned arrives at the garage, wanting to see Garry, but only finds Dani there; she is answering the phones while Gethin is at the dentist’s.

“Garry is at an auction in Bristol,” she tells Sioned, who lies that she is looking for a smaller car.

| "I heard about the fish" |
“I heard about the fish,” adds Sioned, and Dani replies that she has been offered a refund, but they said they never heard of it happening before. “With that and the Social Services business, you must be scared to get out of bed these days,” comments Sioned.

Dani reveals that she wants to set up a Flash Spa, where customers have two or three treatments at same time –

but she has not told Garry yet. “I doubt if he’ll be happy – but it’s what I want to do!”

“You can’t spend your life trying to please him!” Sioned tells her, “He was so unfair to you over that business with Gwern, and now the failure of the fish.”

At Crymych, Anita brings DJ a sandwich,

then Mrs Hodges returns; “We want to modify the house for Mam, to make things easier for her,” he explains.

“The locks were changed after your mother left,” Mrs Hodges informs them, “You don’t know, do you?

Your Mam was evicted, because she didn’t pay the rent, six weeks ago!”

Sioned is vacuuming when her mother arrives

and admits she has done something stupid; “You know that Colin is obsessed about finding the woman?

“He’s going to see a psychic, one who helps the police – and I couldn’t take the risk – so when he told me, I panicked,

“and said I can do it! That I have psychic abilities!”

Sioned dissolves into laughter, much to her mother’s disgust. She points out that the chances of Colin finding out are very slight,

but Eileen says he wants her to contact Sam to ask him who was with him when he died.

Sioned continue to find the whole affair hilarious,

but Eileen snaps, “it’s not funny for me – I risk losing my best friend, and whatever good name I still have! I might have broken the law, leaving Sam in that state.”
Sioned agrees that she does not have any choice –

she has to act like a psychic, a prospect which Eileen does not find pleasant.

Back home at the Anita’s house, DJ cannot understand how his mother could afford the holiday to America; “She spent a fortune on that holiday – we ate in all the best places, and stayed in five star hotels.

“If she could not afford to pay her rent, how could she pay for that holiday? Do you think . . . that money stolen from APD?”

| "She would never do a thing like that" |
Anita cannot imagine Linda doing that; DJ continues, “It makes sense – it’s not a coincidence.

“Money goes missing from APD, and suddenly Mam can afford a holiday to the other side of the world. She spent money like there was no tomorrow – how else can you explain it?
