"I heard you were in hospital"
Sioned visits Dani, having heard she was in hospital and asks if she is better;
Dani is glad of some company
Dani is pleased to have some company, and remarks, “You’ve heard that I'm pregnant, I suppose.”
This is bad news for Sioned
This comes as a surprise to Sioned, and Dani explains that she had food poisoning and the hospital discovered she was pregnant.
"It's not going to be easy"
Sioned asks when she is due,and whether she will be keeping the baby, as it will not be easy, running a business and having a baby.   She hopes that Garry will support Dani.
"Why are you putting a dampener on things?"
“Why are you putting a dampener on things?” demands Dani, and the reply is that she needs to consider the odds – starting a family is a major decision.
At this point Garry walks in,
"Another Monk – they're everywhere!"
and Sioned asks why he had not told her that Dani was pregnant.   “Another Monk on the way – they’re everywhere!” she comments, “Do you know anyone else who is expecting a baby – they will be his friend at school?”
Garry wants to get rid of Sioned
Garry has had enough of this, and insists that Dani is tired;  he suggests that Sioned should leave.
"Are you all right?"
He follows her down to the bar, and snarls at her that her comment was not funny, and in any case they only found out yesterday    Sioned is anxious that it should not change anything between him and her, asking whether he wants her to have an abortion.
“No!” he replies, “Your baby’s a Monk as well – I could never get rid of it!”
"You'll have to tell Dani!"
She advises him to tell Dani as it can only get more difficult as time goes on.   He looks stern;  “I’m not leaving her!”   She suggests he tell Dani he is not fit to be a father because he has had an affair, and reiterates that she wants to be with him.   “If I tell Dani the truth, she’ll have an abortion,” Garry informs her,
"I want to keep both babies"
“I want to keep both babies – it’s the right thing to do!”
"Is Dani upstairs?"
Gethin comes into the Deri, wanting to see Dani;
"Which of us gives you the greatest thrill?"
before Sioned leaves, she asks Garry to bear in mind which one of them gives him the greatest thrill.
"Oh – it's the DNA test results!"
Vicky is vacuuming when Mark comes in and hands her a letter – the results of the DNA test.   “There’s only one way to find out – open it,” he suggests.
"Dol was telling the truth for once!"
As he does so, he smiles, “Dol was telling the truth for once!”
"Aren't you excited about the baby?"
Dani asks Gethin if he is excited about the baby, explaining her situation with Garry is different now.
Gethin has a more important consideration
Taking a deep breath, he announces, “Dad’s back!   He’s in Cwmderi!”
"He would have been arrested!"
Dani assumes that he has seen someone who looks like their father, or he would have been arrested at the airport.   Gethin goes on, “I went to Penrhewl to meet Morgan, and Moc was there, waiting for me.
"He planned it all"
“He planned it all, meeting Kelly online, pretending to be an animal rights activist, calling himself Morgan.   He wants to see you, Dani, to apologise and ask for forgiveness.   He says he’s ill, and doesn’t have much time left.”
"I want to see him!"
She quickly makes her decision;  “Take me to see him – I want to see him!”
Josh wants to use APD's toilet . . .
Josh comes out of the caravan and asks to use the toilet at APD.   “I don't think the council has put up a public convenience sign,” is Dai’s caustic reply, “Listen here, Pharaoh, I’ve been extremely patient with you.
. . . but Dai refuses to entertain the request
“I’ve asked you to move that shed – but, oh no, you have the nerve to ask to use my toilet!   I don’t want you near it!”
"It's official, Grandad!"
Just then, Vicky and Mark arrive with the piece of paper;  “It’s official, Grandad!” Vicky tells him.
This is unwelcome news for Dai
Dai has heard this piece of news, snatches the paper and reads it.   He is under the impression that Vicky needs sympathy,
"Pack your bags and get lost!"
and hopes that it will be a reason for Josh to pack his bags, get lost and find the rest of his tribe.
“It’s too late for me to be a good grandfather to you,” Josh tells her,
"Grandfathers are meant to be 'past it'!"
and she agrees that he is a bit past it, but that is how grandfathers are meant to be.   He thinks this calls for celebration in the Deri,
"I have to go and see someone"
but Mark has to go and see someone first.
Dai storms into the café
"I've had it up to here with that gyppo and his chemical toilet!"
and complains to Debbie, “I’ve had it up to here with that gyppo and his chemical toilet!
Debbie is horrified by the news
“You are his daughter, Debbie – Vicky has just had the DNA results.
"DNA doesn't lie, does it?"
“There you are – it’s official – and DNA doesn’t lie, does it?   It looks as if Josh is here to stay.”
Siôn sticks up for Josh
Siôn, has been sitting quietly up to this point, comments, “He’s a nice guy – we should admire a man who is proud of his ancestry and culture.”
“Listen here, NIMBY,” roars Dai, “You wouldn’t say that if he parked a flea-infested skip on the lawn at Y Felin, would you?” and he stalks out, just as Mark arrives.
"What right did you have to go behind my back?"
Debbie demands, “What right did you have to go behind my back?”
"Give him a chance, Debs!"
and he tells her that Vicky had a right to know, and urges her to give him a chance.   Debbie’s opinion is that she does not need a father, having coped without one all these years, and she predicts that he would only let her down like Mam.
"Pikey, pikey, pikey!"
Meanwhile, in the café, a group of children is chanting, “Pikey, pikey, pikey!”
The sound of a car wakes Moc
A car can be heard approaching the barn where Moc is sleeping;
Gethin's second thoughts are overruled by Dani
Gethin changes his mind, but Dani insists, “I want to see him begging for forgiveness – and then I want to see the police arresting him!”
They enter the barn
Gethin opens the door, and his father sees that Dani is with him.   Moc smiles and welcomes her,
"We're not here for a chat!"
but Gethin reminds him they are not here for a chat;  he should just say what he has to say.
"I'm sorry for everything"
Moc says, “I’m sorry for everything – I wanted to tell you face to face, you deserve that much, at least.”
"Why did you come back?"
Dani asks why he came back and scared Gethin;  the reply is that he has had hepatitis for two years and has less than a year to live.
“I’m fit at the moment, but my health will deteriorate, and my painkillers are running out – could you get me more pills?”
"That's just what he deserves!"
Gethin is of the opinion that pain is what he deserves, but Dani points out that he is still their father.
"All I want is forgiveness"
He pleads, “All I want is forgiveness before I die – that’s not asking too much, is it?
"Clear off – and don't come back!"
Debbie has ejected the troublemaking students from the café, and warned them not to come back.
"My life is going to be hell!"
She tells Mark that being Josh’s daughter is going to make her life hell, but he insists that it would mean a lot to Vicky if she made an effort,
Gwen's hair is different
and suggests that she joined them in the Deri for a drink.
"I'm doing this for Vicky!"
“OK, but I'm doing this Vicky, not because I want to be his daughter!” Debbie agrees.
Garry allegedly wants to talk about Deri Deithio
Garry comes into the café, telling Sioned he wants to talk to her about Deri Deithio, and they go upstairs.
"We have to sort things out"
He tells her that he is here to sort things out, so that she does not even have to consider having an abortion.
"I want what's best for you – and Dani"
“I want what’s best for you – and Dani,” he explains;
But Sioned wants something rather different
conversely, what she wants is for him to move in with her, so they can be a family, and she does not intend to let Dani stand in her way.
"I won't do that to Dani!"
Garry is quite clear that he will not do that to Dani;  “She’s ruined everything between us!” objects Sioned.   He proposes that one way out of this is for her to move to Cardiff or Swansea, and then he can make an excuse to meet her now and again.   Sioned is adamant that she will not play second fiddle to anybody.
"A nice flat, overlooking the sea"
“I will make sure you have enough money – a flat overlooking the sea, and you’ll never go without!” he promises.   She is offended by the ‘meeting now and again’, likening it to a cheap affair, and maintains that she deserves better.
"You want me out of the way!"
She moans, “I’m a problem now, and you want me out of the way – get out of my sight!”
"I felt so guilty, it was eating me alive"
Moc continues, “I had to come back to see you – I felt so guilty, it was eating me alive.”
"The right thing is to go to the police"
Dani urges him to go to the police, as it is the right thing to do.   “There is one thing you could do that could save my life,”
Then he gets to the real reason for his return
Moc tells them, “I need part of a liver – there’s a hospital near where I live – they can check for a match.   I will pay for the flights.”
"You don't deserve help!"
Gethin realises this is the reason for his return;  “Nothing to do with apologising, or guilt, or seeing us – you want us to save you.   You don’t deserve help!”
"Please don't call the police!"
As Gethin hustles Dani out of the barn, Moc shouts, “Please don’t call the police – I couldn’t bear to die in prison.
"You worthless swine!"
“You’ve always made it out to sound worse than it really was!   I’ve suffered because of you!   You owe me a favour, you worthless swine!”   The car drives away,
"You'll regret turning your backs on me!"
and Moc continues his muttering, “You and everyone else in Cwmderi – you’ve ruined my life!   You’ll regret turning your backs on me!”
The children try a bit of graffiti
The four children who were ejected from the café grab the specials board and begin to write on it;  Dai sees and challenges them.
Dai is immediately and unjustly accused
They run off and he retrieves the board, only for Debbie to accuse him of the graffiti.   Mark tries to calm her, but she predicts that this is only at the start;
"I don't want anything to do with Josh!"
“Vicky may be pleased to get a grandfather, but I don’t want anything to do with Josh!”
Josh shows a photo of Vicky's antecedents
In the Deri, Josh is showing an ancient and tattered photograph of some of Vicky’s ancestors;
"It's important to hang on to the past"
Siôn comments that it is important to hang on to the past.
"A gypsy's life is not easy"
Josh points out that a gypsy’s life is not easy;  “Especially if your daughter refuses to accept you,” interrupts Siôn.
Garry arrives, insisting that Dai was painting the slogan outside the café;
"Look, I'm not a racist!"
this is hotly contested by Dai.   “Look, I’m a lot of things, but I’m not a racist!” he shouts, “I’m the chairman of Cwmderi RFC, and I’ve welcomed all sorts into the club –
"I did not write that slogan!"
“there are gay players, and a women’s team!   I did not write that slogan!”
When Josh recalls that they used to settle arguments with a boxing bout,
He boasts of his boxing prowess
Dai rants about being south-west Wales junior boxing champion, welterweight division, much to the amusement of everyone in the pub.
"Careful, Dai – you'll have another attack!"
Siôn warns him that he may give himself another attack, and Josh offers to buy him a pint.
Debbie will not be joining them
Mark comes in, reporting that Debbie will not be coming.
Gethin is very upset
Outside the garage, Dani tells Gethin that he has to be strong, and insists that Moc belongs in prison – he will get medical help in there.
"I'll call the police!"
“I’ll call the police,” she says, but Gethin answers that he was the one who suffered, so he should do it, and she should go home in case Garry is wondering where she is.
He makes sure Dani has gone into the Deri
When she has gone into the Deri, he takes out the key to the padlock on the barn door, and throws it away.
Moc has escaped from his prison . . .
Meanwhile, with the help of a wrecking bar, Moc has freed himself;
. . . but what will he do now?
he looks across the farmyard, drops his weapon, and walks away.
