Kelly is still angry
Next morning, Ed comes downstairs and finds Kelly still angry;
He apologises for what he said
he apologises to her and admits he had no right to say that this was nothing to do with her.
"Hve you decided how you feel about Sioned?"
“I should have left you in Caernarfon,” she tells him, but he says that he has to face things.   “Have you decided how you feel about Sioned?” she asks;  he replies they have things that tie them together,
"She could still use Dewi against me"
and he is not sure if he can walk away.   He does not know what to do as she could still use Dewi against him.
"Well, confess to the police, then"
“What about if you confess to the police, then she won’t have any power over you?” she suggests.   He insists that he cannot blame Sioned for everything, and there is also Mark to consider.
"Sioned used the phone to frame Mark"
“We didn’t just let him take the blame – Sioned planted Dewi’s phone in Maes-y-Deri, in order to frame Mark,” Ed confesses.
"And whose idea was this?"
Kelly is horrified by this and asks whose idea it was.   “Sioned’s,” is the expected reply, “Which just goes to show how tied together Sioned and I are.”
This relationship is closer than Kelly thought;  she wonders how many more secrets he is hiding.   She grabs her jacket and leaves the house,
"Good news about Ed, isn't it?"
meeting Mark outside;  “Good news about Ed, isn’t it?” he says,
"You did a good job in North Wales"
“You did good job up in North Wales.   I thought I’d call in to see him,” but she tells him that Ed is sleeping.
Kelly looks up at the window
 As he walks away, Kelly looks up again at the window of Sioned’s flat.
Jason encourages Sara to phone the police . . .
“Do you think you’re strong enough to phone the police?” Jason asks Sara,
. . . but she does not want to look a fool
but she replies not going to phone the police, as she does not want to admit that she has been a fool;  after all she let him in, so it was her fault.
"Everyone makes mistakes, even you!"
“Everyone, makes mistakes, even you!” he assures her, but she suspects that she gave Gavin the wrong impression, and she was desperate for that contract.
"Stop this right now"
Jason tells her, “Stop this right now – you’ve done nothing wrong – and even if you had, he had no right to do that.”
"I only wanted to be successful"
She pleads that she only wants to be successful in her job, and successful people do not get themselves into such a mess.
Kelly wants some answers
Once more, Kelly appears in Sioned’s flat, wanting answers;  “I always wondered why you hated Ed so much when you were abusing him.”
"You're starting to see the real Ed, are you?"
“Ah, you’re starting to see the real Ed, are you?” Sioned replies, “There’s a lot under the surface.”   As Kelly is insistent,
"He slep with my sister"
Sioned begins, “He slept with my sister just before we got married – I know, it was a shock to me, too.   Some wouldn’t be surprised that I wanted to punish him.”   Kelly considers that whatever he did, he not deserve to be tormented for months.
"I didn't deserve him cheating on me!"
“I didn’t deserve him cheating on me with Angela!”
"You're bonkers!"
Kelly thinks that it is quite understandable, and describes Sioned as ‘bonkers’, but she goes on,   “He did far worse – if there is anything wrong with me, it’s Ed’s fault!   He’s a murderer – there you go, your perfect Ed has killed someone!”
"I wanted to know how far you would go"
Kelly’s response is, “I wanted to know how far you would go to hurt Ed – all the way, obviously.   He’s told me everything about Dewi – plus you forced him to let Mark take the blame and planted the phone in Maes-y-Deri.   It was self-defence – you can’t use Dewi against Ed any more!”
"There's plenty of other stuff I can use!"
Sioned maintains there is plenty of other stuff she can use, but she will not reveal what that is, and resumes her ironing.
Things are not going Sioned's way
 As Kelly leaves, Sioned scowls.
"He only kissed me"
Jason is still trying to persuade Sara to involve the police, but she argues that there is no point, as Gavin only kissed her.
"What if I hadn't come through that door?"
“Oh yeah – what if I hadn’t come through that door when I did?” he demands,
"What if he's done it before?"
“What if he’s done it before, or something even worse.”   She goes upstairs to Ifan.
"Sioned told me about Dewi"
Kelly informs Ed that she has been to see Sioned;  “In case you think she’s changed, she told me about Dewi – and she said there are other things she can use against you – no details.
"What else have you done?"
“What else have you done?”
He denies that there is anything else, and insists that Sioned is making it up;
"She's never going to let me go, is she?"
“She’s never going to let me go, is she? he concludes, so Kelly tells him that the only answer is to confess, and tell the police everything.
"Then you will be on your own"
She advises that he can stay in the house until he finds somewhere else to live, but then he will be on his own.
"Is my house ready yet, Jason?"
Megan is now recovered, and calls on Sara, as she is not sure if her house is ready yet;  Jason informs her that it will not be long.
Her illness was a bit of a scare
She admits, “It was a bit of a scare, but there we go – I will get through it.”
Megan sees that Sara is concerned about something
Then she sees Sara’s face and asks if Ifan is all right;  they confirm that he is, and Jason goes to do some more work.
"Are you going to tell me what's going on?"
“Sara, are you going to tell me what’s going on?” demands Megan.
Ed goes to see Mark
Mark opens the door to Ed and welcomes him in;  he was glad to lend the car to Kelly so she could travel to Caernarfon.   “I’ve only seen Jason and Sioned since I’ve been back,” Ed begins.
"No-one knew what to say"
Mark recalls that when he came out of jail after that business with Dewi, he found it odd meeting people, as no-one knew what to say.
Then Ed drops his bombshell . . .
“Please don’t be nice to me – I’ve got something to tell you,” says Ed, and Mark looks very puzzled.   “It’s going to be a shock – it was me – I killed Dewi!”
. . . which Mark initially thinks is a bad joke
At first, Mark thinks this is a joke,
Ed describes the scene in Dewi's flat
but Ed goes on, “When you went over to Dewi’s flat, you would have seen a blue chair lying on its side on the patio, and some kind of ornament on the floor.
"Up here, on Dewi's head"
“There was a wound, up here, on Dewi’s head.”
"I went to jail for weeks!"
These details prove it;  “So you were there!” shouts Mark, but Ed assures him that it was not the same time that he was there.   “I went to jail – for weeks!   You knew perfectly well I hadn’t done it!   Why?”   Ed admits that he is a coward.
Mark rages at Ed . . .
“I went through hell – my family went through hell – Ricky broke his heart!”
. . . then grabs him by the throat
So saying, Mark rushes forward and grabs Ed by the throat, forcing him into the armchair.
"Go on – kill me – I deserve to die!"
Ed urges Mark to kill him, as he deserves to die, but Mark releases his grip;
"I don't want to be a murderer like you!"
“I don’t want to be a murderer like you!” is the reply, “You were going to let me rot in jail!”
"I'm sorry, Mark"
Ed insists that he is sorry;
"Sorry?   Just get out!"
“Sorry?   Just get out!” Mark screams,
"I hope you get everything you deserve"
“I hope you get everything you deserve!”
"So you see, I was stupid"
Sara sums it up by saying that she was stupid, but Megan objects;
Megan assures her that she was not
“There’s nothing stupid in failing to think a man could act like that.   I’m to blame – I gave him your address.”
"His actions were inexcusable!"
“It isn’t your fault – it’s his!” Sara stresses, “It was his actions that were inexcusable – he was going to force me into doing something I did not want to do!”
Kelly is in the café kitchen
Kelly is in the café kitchen when Mark walks in;
"Did you know, Kelly?"
“Did you know?” he demands, and she answers that she only found out this week.   “Leave me alone, Kelly!” he snaps,
Again, Kelly leaves the café
and she once again walks out of the café.
"I know I'm doing the right thing"
At number 10, Ed is speaking on the phone;  “Yes I’ll stay here,” he agrees, “I know I’m doing the right thing.”
Kelly arrives . . .
Kelly has just walked in, and he tells her he has decided.
. . . but is told to go back to work
She wants him to stay, but he tells her to go back to work.   “I’d prefer it if you weren’t here – I don’t want you to be upset.”
In tears, she reminds him that she is already upset,
"I might as well stay with the condemned man"
and she might as well stay with the condemned man.
Sara has finally contacted the police
Sara has also contacted the police, to report Gavin’s actions;
"He was very unpleasant and threatening"
at that moment, Jason comes home.   “I don’t know if you would call it sexual assault, but he was unpleasant and very threatening.
Jason comforts his wife
“I don’t want to think of anyone else going through the same thing.
"You and Mark made up my mind"
Ed and Kelly wait, and she asks him what made up his mind;  “You, and Mark,” he replies.   Then there is a knock at the door;
"Ed, I know I don't deserve you"
it is Sioned, who says, “Ed, I know I don’t deserve you,”
"You can say that again!"
and Kelly laughs.
"Kelly is a friend!"
Ed describes Kelly as a friend, then Sioned continues, “I know I don’t deserve you, but I’d like the chance to prove that I can.
She still maintains she wants a baby with him
“I’d like a chance to make up for everything I did.   I want the chance to have a baby with you.”
"I love the woman you used to be"
Ed admits that he loves her, but only as the woman she used to be.   “But now it’s over!   I’m going to tell the police everything about Dewi – I can’t live with the guilt any longer, especially with what I did – what we did, to Mark.
"You will not control me any more!"
“I can’t allow you to use it to control me any more!”
Siopned pleads for another chance
With increasing desperation, she begs for another chance, but he informs her that Mark knows everything and before long, everyone will know.   “But you know how scared you are of the police,” she whines, “You’ve tried a couple of times before and failed, remember?
"I've helped you, I've looked after you"
“And I’ve helped you, I’ve looked after you.”
"Yes, and it was like being in a cell!"
He answers that it was like being in a cell and that he deserves to be punished, but not by her.   The sound of approaching sirens can be heard.
"I didn't have the guts before"
“But you’re right – I didn’t have the guts to go to the police before.   I phoned them to confess to murder, and they’ve come to get me.”
Kelly is in floods of tears
Kelly is in tears by this time, and Sioned snarls, “Don’t you say a word about me, do you hear?   Not one word!   I will deny everything!”   As Ed goes to open the door,
A look of hate from Sioned
Sioned looks scornfully at Kelly, who is weeping copiously.
"Are you Edward Charles?"
“Are you Edward Charles?” asks the police officer, and leads Ed away;
Ed smiles at Sioned
he smiles at Sioned, who herself is looking increasingly furiously at Kelly.
