6 September 2017 (1st)

Liv has had a less disturbed night
Liv is in a good mood this morning, as Greta only woke up twice during the night.
"Oh no – Twm needs a plumber urgently"
Iolo receives a text from Twm, who needs a plumber urgently, so Liv tells him to charge double, but Iolo does not want to go.   “I’ll be fine on my own,” she assures him,
"You have to go to the surgery today"
but Tyler does not think it is a good idea that she should be left, as she has to go to the surgery this morning.
"I'll go straight there and back"
“Please, Tyler – we need more baby wipes,” she pleads, “I’ll go straight to the surgery and the shop and straight home.   I have to learn how to cope on my own at some point.   Come on, it will make me feel like a normal mother for once.”
Tyler gives her some money . . .
He finally relents, hands her some money and tells her to also get some milk from shop.
“It means a lot that you can trust me,” she tells him,
. . . and leaves for school
and Tyler leaves for school.   Liv feels a pain, and when Iolo asks what it is, she replies, “It’s just cramps – it will pass.”   He decides to make her some toast before he goes.
Colin seems very gratified with his handiwork
Colin is very pleased with his photos published in the Western Post;
"I even managed to make Kath Jones look attractive"
“I’ve even managed to make Kath Jones look attractive – and that Rhys Meirion was thrilled.   He said I’d captured his best side,” he tells Britt.
Britt fusses over Catrin
Catrin comes out of her room, and her mother asks if she wants a hot water bottle.   Colin shows her the pictures in the paper, but Britt reminds him that Catrin helped as well;
"You were crucial in the process"
“Your mother’s right – you were crucial to the process.   I should sort out a portfolio – would you be able to help me?”   Catrin suggests doing some photography now, but Britt protests that she is not well.
"It's only the time of the month, Mam!"
“Stop fussing – it’s only the time of the month,” Catrin replies, and Britt advises that in that case, she should be going to school.
"It's great that Catrin is showing an interest"
Colin thinks it is great that she is showing an interest, and must sort out the kit.   Britt looks at the photo of Jim and Kath with their cabbages.
Another Western Post reader comes to see Jim
Dani has also been looking at the paper, and goes to see Jim;  “I want to put in an order for your fresh veg,” she says, but he points out that there are plenty of vegetables down in the shop.   “But it’s not the same, is it?” she replies, “I’ve been reading up on it.   Apparently veg straight out of the soil is much healthier – they lose loads of vitamins in transit.”
"Eileen's veg only comes from Penrhewl"
Jim protests that the veg in the shop is only in transit from Penrhewl, but Dani insists that she wants Greta to have the best start, and agrees to pay a good price, but Jim declines the offer.
"I need your help with the delivery, Jim"
Eileen calls him from the shop, as a delivery has arrived.   He shepherds Dani out of the flat,
"Just talking about building work"
and tells Eileen that he was advising on some building work at the Deri;  she obviously does not believe him.
Liv meets Kath
On the way back from the surgery, Liv meets Kath by the bus stop, who remarks on how pretty the baby is.   “She was ill, wasn’t she?” Kath asks,
"I'm not one to judge"
“Don’t worry – I’m not one to judge.”
"I'm not going to let her down"
Liv replies that the baby is now much better, and that she is very lucky;  she does not intend to let the baby down.
That nasty piece of work is watching her again
Reflected in a mirror, somewhere, we again see that Liv is being watched.
Eileen does not fancy a photo shoot
In the shop, Eileen is far from keen to be the subject of a photo shoot, but Colin maintains it will be fun.   “We want to take photos of business people,” Catrin tells her,
"I need to practise my make-up skills"
“And I need to practise my make-up skills for GCSE drama.”
"What's going on here, then?"
Jim wants to know what is going on, and is told that they are taking a portrait of Eileen.   Britt comes into the shop, and hopes that they will be taking a photo of her in the chip shop as well.
"What can I do to help?"
She asks if they need any help,
"Mam – we're busy!"
but Catrin points out that they are busy, so Britt leaves to let them get on with it.
"Dani, I'm sorry for the other day"
Liv is sitting on the bench near APD, and Dani walks past without acknowledging her;  “Wait, Dani!” Liv calls, “I’m sorry for the other day – I didn’t mean it.   You know what I’m like – are we OK?”
Dani stops and turns round
Dani’s attitude softens;
"Have you named her yet?"
she comes to look at the baby, and asks if Liv has named her yet, but her expression rapidly changes when she hears the name Greta.
"That's what I'm going to call my daughter!"
“No, whoa, you can’t,” Dani insists, “That’s what I’m going to call my daughter!   You’ve done this on purpose, haven’t you?   Tyler must have told you!”
"But, Dani, I didn't know"
She takes no notice of Liv’s protests, but snarls “You spoil everything!”
Dani hurries away
and walks away in disgust.
Liv sees the ne'er-do-well across the street
As Liv reaches the door of number seven, she sees a familiar figure across the street, and rushes to get inside.   As soon as she has shut the door, there is a hammering on it, and the figure outside threatens her.
"I'm going to count up to three!"
“I’m going to count up to three,” the voice says, ominously;
"You didn't think I was going to forget that debt?"
she looks terrified, but opens the door.   She assures him that she has no money, but he saw her leave the shop with a bag;  “You didn’t think I was going to forget that debt, did you?” he says, then looks at the baby.   “She’s so small, isn’t she?”
"You'll get your money"
Liv promises that he will get his money, and he has serious doubts that she has kicked the habit, commenting, “You want some now, don’t you?   You’re not fit to be a mother – you’re not the type.
"One hit won't do any harm"
“One hit won’t do any harm,” he says, as he waves a small plastic bag of powder in front of her face.
Jim surprises Kath on her plot . . .
Jim surprises Kath on her allotment plot and shows her the newspaper photo;
. . . and show her the Western Post article
she is quite impressed with it, and points out that Jim’s wrinkles hardly show.  “There is such a thing as too much publicity,” he warns her, “Dani came to see me this morning.”
The sight of a man walking through the allotments . . .
Then Kath sees someone approaching,
. . . causes Kath to run for cover
and is in a great hurry to hide herself and Jim behind the shed.
Liv empties her purse, but tells Steve that she can get more;
"If you can't pay, you're coming back with me!"
“Do you honestly believe that is enough to clear the debt?” he demands, “If you can’t pay, you’re coming back with me now!   You don’t think I’d let you disappear again, do you?”
"I can't leave Greta"
She begs that she cannot leave Greta, but he considers that leaving her would be the best thing;
He makes threats against the child
“I dread to think what might happen to her if mummy couldn’t pay her debts!   Especially now that I know where she lives!   Come with me and she’ll be safe.”
She pretends to say goodbye to Greta,
Live send an urgent text . . .
but is in fact sending a desperate text to Iolo, “Come quickly!”   She assures the baby that she will be back soon,
. . . but is then forced to leave the house
and Steve bundles her out of the door, leaving baby Greta alone.
Britt admires the photos
Colin’s photos must be improving, as Catrin describes them as, “Cool!” and Britt admits that Eileen looks different.   She asks what they will do with the photos,
"We're trying to concentrate!"
but Catrin rebukes her, “Mam – Colin and I are trying to concentrate!   Just leave me alone.”
"How about leaving her alone for a while?"
Colin takes Britt to one side, suggesting, “Maybe you should leave her alone for a while – we wanted her to come out of her shell,
Colin considers he is doing a good job
“and am I not doing a good job of that?”
"Is the coast clear?"
Jim and Kath peer out from behind the shed,
Apparently the man has been pestering Kath
and Kath explains, “He’s one of the bigwigs of this allotment.”   Jim maintains that he just wanted to congratulate her on her cabbages, but she goes on, “He tried to snog me a few months ago, and has been pestering me ever since – he’s a nuisance!”
"Dani wants to buy vegetables from me"
Then Jim talks about his problem – that of Dani wanting to buy vegetables from him;  “I’ve told her to go to Eileen, but she insisted – and she’s willing to pay top whack.”
The mention of money attracts Kath
Kath senses some financial advantage, and suggests that he sells Dani her vegetables and they can share the proceeds;  he will take some with him today,
That kohl rabi looks in less than optimum condition
including some rather wilted kohlrabi.
Jim spots that man again . . .
Then he spots the man  again across the allotment
. . . and simulates a passionate embrace for his benefit
and seizes Kath in what appears a passionate embrace.
This rather takes Kath by surprise
She is rather disturbed by this, but Jim predicts that he will not pester her any more.
"Now then – that's what you call a photo!"
Catrin is doing some more editing of photos, which astonishes Colin;  “Now then – that’s what you call a photo!” he enthuses, “The jobs will pour in when they see this portfolio!   Are you sure you’re not well enough to go to school?”
"Don't you start!"
“Don’t you start!   Mam was so annoying earlier” is Catrin’s response, “She’s always interfering!”   Colin emphasises that it is only natural that she wants to know what is going on,
"You two haven't been talking much recently"
especially as the two of them have not been talking much recently.
"She doesn't understand me!"
Catrin insists, “She doesn’t understand me!” but Colin urges her to give her mother a chance.
"She would do anything for you"
“Look, you, Chester and Aaron are all important to her – she would do anything for you.   Just give her a chance.   To be honest, I think she feels a bit left out of all the photography business – why don’t you two have a ‘duvet day’ this afternoon?”
"I have a better idea"
Catrin has thought of a better idea.
Iolo hurries home in response to the text,
There is no sign of Liv upstairs
only to find that there is no sign of Liv;
"Hi, baby!   Where's Mam, then?"
“Hi baby!   Where’s Mam, then?” he asks Greta,
She is not in the back garden
then sees Liv’s keys on the table.
"Right, let's go and find Mam!"
Taking the pram, he says, “Right, let’s go and find Mam!”
"The people of the plots have to stick together"
In the shop, Kath advises Jim, “The people of the plots have to stick together, don’t we?”
"I'll bring the veg over later . . ."
When Dani comes in, Jim apologises for earlier, and assures her he will bring her vegetables over later.
". . . but not a word to Eileen!"
He asks for one favour – that she does not say a word to Eileen;  “She won’t understand why you’re not buying veg from Penrhewl.”
"Have you seen Liv?"
Iolo arrives, asking if they have seen Liv, and Dani says she has not seen her since this morning.
Dani feels she may be responsible
Iolo continues with his search, and Dani feels guilty.
Tyler can get no reply from Liv's phone
Later, Tyler has returned home, and leaves messages on Liv’s phone.   Iolo reports that no-one has seen her,
"Don't go nuts, Tyler"
but then Dani arrives and informs them, “Don’t go nuts now, but we argued.   I’m sure she’ll be fine –
"She's stolen my baby's name!"
“but she has stolen my baby’s name!”
"You can be so selfish!"
Tyler shouts that it does not matter now;  “You can be so selfish sometimes – do you realise how fragile she is?”
Dani turns and goes
Dani is sorry, and leaves, rather crestfallen.
"Someone has to do the housework"
When Britt returns to the chip shop flat, Catrin asks her, “What do you think of this, Mam?   Come and see.”   Britt moans that she is busy, as someone has to do the housework, while the professionals are at it.
"Which one do you like best?"
“Which of these do you prefer?” Catrin continues, “I think you look nicer in this one.”   Only then does her mother take a look, and wonders how she did it.   “I took an old photo and edited it,” Catrin replies,
Britt is highly delighted
and Britt is so pleased, she hugs her.
"Why won't you phone the police?"
“I don’t understand why you won’t phone the police!” rages Iolo,
"I don't want to get her into more trouble"
but Tyler does not want her to get into more trouble, and perhaps she will come back of her own accord.
“You don’t think she’s gone to get drugs from somewhere?” wonders Iolo,
"You have to phone the authorities!"
“You have to phone the authorities – for her sake!   Look, I’ll make a bottle, while you phone them – don’t tell them that we left Greta with Liv – and don’t tell them that Greta was left on her own.”
"I hope I won't live to regret this"
Tyler hopes that he will not live to regret this.
