20 September 2017

"I always suspected Ed"
Vicky tells Mathew that she suspected Ed of killing Dewi, but let him convince her otherwise;
"There's no bread – or jam!"
then she finds that there is no bread, and moans at him for eating the last slice.   He has also eaten the porridge, as he was starving, and she wonders what Nicky will have for lunch now.
"There is hardly any food in the house"
All they have is a tin of beans, some rice pudding and crackers.
"We shall have to go to the food bank"
She comes to the conclusion they will have to go to the food bank, as they do not have any choice, but Mathew refuses to go anywhere near it.
"When I get the job at the abattoir . . ."
He insists that he will get the job in the abattoir and everything will be all right.   He tries to convince her that he is bound to get the job, and suggests that she ask Sara for her job back at Awyr Iach.
"Then there will be no-one to look after Nicky"
She replies that she will have no-one to look after Nicky;  he maintains that if they both work, they will be able to afford a babysitter, however, she is not convinced.
"Let me buy you a coffee"
It is busy in the café, and Megan offers to buy Sara’s coffee, to thank her for last week.
"There's a lot on at work"
Sara would love to join her, but has a lot on at work.
"Gavin Lewis has admitted sexual harassment"
Then she advises Megan, “The police got in touch with me over the weekend, and Gavin Lewis has admitted sexual harassment – thank you for persuading me to report him.
"I didn't do anything"
“Thanks for the coffee, and we’ll meet up soon.”
"You're concentrating, Colin"
Megan sees Colin studying the laptop;  he tells her he has had some good news.   “Catrin’s friend’s sister is marrying on Saturday and the photographer has had a heart attack.”
"And that's good news?"
Megan does not regard this as good news, but he explains that he is putting together a package of photos to show how talented he is,
Colin is proud of his aerial footage
and his unique selling point is his drone images.   Colin shows her some of his camera footage;  “I took this one over the allotments.”
"Hey – is that Jim Probert . . ."
“Hey, is that Jim Probert?” exclaims Megan,
". . . stealing vegetables from Owen Hughes' allotment?"
“He’s stealing vegetables from Owen Hughes’ allotment!   Freeze the frame, Colin!”
Vicky asks for her job back . . .
Vicky approaches Sara in the street and is told that Awyr Iach is very busy;  “If you need any help, just ask.   I’d be happy to have my old job back,” says Vicky,
. . . but is unsuccessful
but Sara replies that they are not as busy as that.
Then Vicky encounters Siôn . . .
Then Vicky bumps into Siôn;
. . . but he is distracted by Iolo
he is about to talk to her when Iolo calls him.
"I need some adult conversation"
“I need some adult conversation, after a morning of nursery rhymes,” he says, and they go into the café.
The peace of number 7 . . .
Meanwhile, at number 7, there is the sound of breaking glass,
. . . is disturbed by an intruder
and we see a gloved hand releasing the catch on a window, and opening it.
Jim is outside the shop
From the café, Megan sees Jim outside the shop, and goes across to talk to him;
Megan accuses him of vegetable rustling
“Colin has a clear image of you helping yourself to vegetables from Owen Hughes’ allotment!”   Jim replies that he has never heard of him.
"He's in hospital with pneumonia"
She continues, “He’s one of Bethania’s oldest members, and he’s been in hospital with pneumonia for over a month.   Members of the chapel have a rota to weed his allotment.”
"I've only been to Kath Jones's allotment!"
“I don’t care what you say, I haven’t been near his allotment!” Jim insists, but she points out she saw it with her own eyes.   “The only allotment I’ve been near is Kath Jones’s.”
Megan advises Jim that the vandals have been stealing the produce,
"If I find one carrot has been taken . . ."
and then adds, “I hope you didn’t win at the show with one of Owen Hughes’ cabbages!   If I find that one carrot has been taken from his allotment I’ll report you to the chairman of Cwmderi Allotment Society!   Shame on you for taking advantage of an elderly gentleman like him!”
A moment of peace for Iolo
In the café, Greta is asleep in her pram;
"No wonder you're unhappy"
“It’s no wonder you’re unhappy, if Liv can’t even pick up the phone to say she’s all right,” comments Siôn.
"I hate letting customers down"
Iolo replies that it is frustrating, with them being in limbo, and he hates letting customers down. “Have you and Tyler considered the implications of having to raise Greta long-term?” his father asks, and Iolo admits that the uncertainty is getting to him.
"I have no control over the situation"
“Liv is holding all the cards, so I have no control over the situation,” Iolo says, and Siôn advises him to be careful,
"Vicky and Mathew are staying at Hywel's"
then informs him that Hywel’s and Sheryl’s house is a nightmare, as Mathew and Vicky are staying there.   Vicky has found out she cannot have her old job back.
"Don't get dragged into their mess, Dad"
Iolo is concerned that his father is being dragged into their mess.
"Well, did you get the job?"
Mathew returns, looking downhearted,
Mathew was unsuccessful . . .
and reveals he did not get the job;
. . . and so was Vicky
Vicky tells him that Sara will not entertain the idea of employing her, either.
"What are we supposed to do now?"
“What are we supposed to do?” she sobs,
"Have I called at an awkward moment?"
and he is trying to comfort her when Siôn arrives.
Iolo gets a shock . . .
Iolo returns to the house and is horrified to find
. . . when he sees the state of the house . . .
that it has been ransacked;
. . . particularly the smashed photo
the photo of him and Tyler lies smashed on the floor.
Jim is not in a cordial mood
Jim heads furiously to the allotments and confronts Kath;
"This is not your allotment, is it?"
“Hey!   Have you got something to tell me?” he demands, “Don’t try to be clever with me – this is not your allotment, is it?   Colin has shown Megan Harries drone images of me gathering cabbages here.   She insists that some bloke called Owen Hughes has this allotment.   Well – is it true?”
"I may not have been quite straight with you"
Kath hesitantly admits that she may not have been quite straight with him, but warns him against getting his knickers in a twist.   “I saw an allotment going to waste, and I thought it was a shame that those beautiful vegetables are left to rot.”
"Now Megan thinks I'm a thief!"
He protests that she has no right to help herself, and that now Megan thinks he is a thief.
"It's not the Great Train Robbery!"
“It’s only a few potatoes and carrots, not the Great Train Robbery!” she insists, but he points out that he has been selling vegetables from here to Dani, and could get done for handling stolen goods. “Do you have to be so dramatic?” she demands,
"I thought we were mates!"
but he rages that he thought they were mates, and mates do not pull stunts on each other.
“You’re a lazy waster, Kath Jones!   A lazy liar!”
"Well, it's not like what your son-in-law did!"
Kath stresses that this is not in the same league as what his son-in-law did – it does not compare with what Ed has done to Mark.
"You're not half the woman I thought you were!"
“I can’t believe that you’ve used him to excuse your own behaviour,” Jim exclaims, “You’re not half the woman I thought you were!”
"If we had got the jobs . . ."
Mathew explains to Siôn that if they had got the jobs everything would be OK, but now they have no food.
Then they start snarling at each other
Then Vicky and Mathew start bickering with each other, until Siôn intervenes;
"Have you considered the Food Bank?"
“It isn’t as bad as you think – there are other options.   Have you considered the Food Bank?”
"Mathew is too proud"
but Vicky says that Mathew is too proud.
Siôn admits that he would go to a Food Bank in the circumstances, and it would help them in the short term.
"Phone Dr Pritchard to sort it out"
“Phone Dr Pritchard to sort it out – now is not to the time to be stubborn – think of Nicky.”
"OK, I'll ring him"
Mathew finally agrees.
Tyler has been called home from school
Tyler has surveyed the damage,
He surveys the carnage
and reports that as far as he can tell, £50 has gone from upstairs;
"And £30 from the emergency tin"
Iolo adds that £30 is missing from the emergency tin.
"Was it Liv who broke in?"
Tyler wonders if it was Liv who broke in to get money for drugs, but Iolo doubts that she would have made such a mess.   “She would do anything if she was high!” Tyler tells him.
"I've already reported it to the police
Iolo has already reported this to the police, which angers Tyler, as he does not want to land her with more trouble.
"You've got to tell them it was a mistake!"
He orders Iolo to tell the police it was a mistake,
"No – she has to face the consequences!"
but Iolo refuses;  “If Liv did it, she’ll have to face the consequences!”
Jim tries to escape from Dani . . .
When he arrives back in the village,
. . . then tells her the veg business must stop
Jim tries to escape when he sees Dani, who tells him she is going to the allotment to collect more vegetables.   He tells her he must bring their arrangement to an end, as he is afraid Eileen will find out;  “I don’t want her to think I’m undermining this place.
"I don't want to stress Eileen any more"
“She has had a stressful time lately, and I don’t want to do anything to add to it.”
Dani is not happy with this
Dani reluctantly accepts his explanation.
At the Food Bank entrance
Vicky and Mathew arrive at the Food Bank,
They notice Megan, working there . . .
where they are disappointed to find that Megan is working;  Mathew wants to go before she sees them,
. . . and she invites them in
but it is too late, and she invites them in.
Colin buys Kath a drink
Colin comes into the Deri in a good mood, and buys Kath a drink;
"I've got my first customer!"
“On Saturday morning, I’ll be at St John’s Church, taking wedding photos – I’ve got my first customer.”
"Large vodka, please"
Kath decides to have a large vodka, and Colin explains, “The drone images swung it for me – they couldn’t believe that I could offer that.”
“Yes, I heard about your drone images – you got Jim in trouble,” she says,
"No, Jim got himself in trouble!"
but he replies that Jim got himself into trouble.   Kath asks him to keep quiet about it.
"Jim wouldn't give me any more veg"
Then Dani confesses that she is really disappointed in Jim, as he would not give her any more veg, and she is quite gutted.
"Well, I deliver to the door"
“Well, I’ve got a plot, if you’re stuck,” Kath offers, “But I deliver to the door – I don’t want you digging around in my potato patch, in case you make a mess.
"Have we got a deal, or what?"
“Have we got a deal, or what?”
"As long as it is as Tasty as Jim's"
She assures Dani that her veg will be just as tasty as Jim’s.
Megan supplies two bags of food . . .
Megan gives Mathew two large bags of food, and he asks her not to tell anyone that they have been there, as it is embarrassing.
. . . and will not say a word
She agrees she will not say a word.
"Pleased with yourself, telling the police everything?"
It appears that the police have been to number 7, and Tyler grumbles, “Are you pleased with yourself now, after a chance to have your say by telling the police everything?”
"They suspected her too"
Iolo replies, “You cannot blame me that the police suspected her too.   I know you want to defend her, but she does have a motive.   There is no point defending her – look at this mess!
Iolo is scared she will come back"
“Look at our house, Tyler!   We live here, and what’s to say she won’t come back and do it again?”
"She wouldn't do that"
Tyler doubts that she would,
"I'm trying to do the right thing . . ."
but Iolo protests, “You don’t know that, do you?   You don’t know anything!   I’m trying to do the right thing – supporting you, taking care of Greta –
". . . but from now on, you're on your own!"
“but I can’t do it, Ty – it’s too much to ask, sorry!   “From now on, you must take care of Greta yourself – I’m sorry!”
