13 October 2017 (1st)

After another hair-raising ride on the bike
Gwyneth and Sioned are back from another excursion on the motorbike;  “Why don’t you buy me a drink in the Deri, to calm down my heartrate?” says Sioned, “We were on the wrong side of the road!”
"We have to enjoy life"
Gwyneth replies that they have to enjoy life, but Megan, who happens to be passing, comments that this is to the detriment of others.
"You should be ashamed of yourself, Sioned!"
“You should be ashamed of yourself, Sioned – your plea hearing is tomorrow, isn’t it?   Maybe you should be thinking about that, instead of gallivanting on a motorbike!”
Iolo chops mushrooms
Iolo is chopping up mushrooms when Tyler returns, in a depressed mood,
"Oh – you must have been teaching 9P"
so Iolo deduces that he must have been teaching 9P,
"I've invited Kelly and Ed for a meal"
and informs him that he has invited Ed and Kelly for a meal.   Tyler is not at all happy about this, and tells Iolo to stop trying so hard,
"You're getting on my nerves!"
as it is getting on his nerves.
Megan is looking for volunteers
Megan speaks to Anita at Awyr Iach, stressing how important it is for people to come to Thanksgiving once a year.
"We're very busy, aren't we, Sara?"
Anita uses pressure of work as an excuse for not getting involved.   Sara, on the other hand, says they are never too busy for a cup of tea.
"I'll make sure everyone has the chance"
“I’ll make sure that everyone has the chance to go,” she assures Megan.
Kelly makes a few last-minute adjustments to Ed
Ed is at the bus stop, with Kelly telling him that he can do this job with his eyes closed.
"I've got a good feeling about this job"
“I’ve got a good feeling about this job,” he smiles, “A new start, a new life.”
"I'll be waiting in the Deri"
She says that she will be in the Deri, waiting to celebrate.
Then Gwyneth comes, stirring
Gwyneth is nearby, and he tells her that it will be a new start;
"Do you really believe she's pleading guilty?"
“You have no idea!” she scoffs, “Do you really believe that Sioned is going to plead guilty?”   He insists that Sioned has given him her word,
This is bad news for Ed . . .
but she predicts that he will find out how reliable her word is tomorrow.
. . . who hurries back to number 10
Ed hurries back to the house, ignoring Iolo who wants to cancel the meal tonight.
"What are we eating tonight, then, Iol?"
In the Deri, Kelly asks Iolo what delights she can expect to eat tonight, but he advises that he has to cancel;  “The trouble is that Tyler is not in a good mood.”
"Tyler's a miserable sod!"
Kelly describes him as a miserable sod,
"Well, Ed's not much better!"
but then Iolo adds, “Ed wasn’t much better just now – he didn’t even acknowledge me, just walked off to your house – he looked awful!”   This disturbs Kelly, who rushes out of the pub.
"Have to keep a clear head for tomorrow"
Sioned has changed her mind and does not want to drink champagne;  she will have just one glass.   Gwyneth looks disapproving.
"What's wrong, Ed?"
At number 10, Kelly asks Ed what is wrong, and he replies, “I knew things were going too well –
"Sioned's going to plead not guilty!"
“Sioned is going to plead not guilty – she says one thing and does something else.   Gwyneth just told me – and made it perfectly clear.”
Kelly decides that they are going to sort out Sioned;
"The silly cow is drinking in the Deri!"
“The silly cow is drinking in the Deri, and you’re going there and demand that she tells you exactly how she’s pleading tomorrow!
"You can do this, trust me"
“You can do this, trust me.”   Ed is not too sure about this, but follows Kelly’s instructions.
"Eileen is too busy upstairs"
Megan wants to speak to Eileen, but the new shop assistant says she is too busy upstairs at the moment.
"What mother wouldn't be worried?"
Megan remarks, “Well, tomorrow is a big day for her – what mother wouldn’t be worried about her daughter going to court?” then she stumbles,
Then Megan nearly collapses . . .
and it is fortunate that Anita is there to prevent her from falling down.
. . . but insists she is all right
Megan quickly recovers her composure, and leaves the shop, insisting that she feels fine.
A confrontation takes place
Ed and Kelly confront Gwyneth and Sioned;
"You didn't tell him that?"
“Gwyneth told me that you’re going to plead not guilty tomorrow,” he says,
"I need to know what's going to happen!"
“I need to know what’s going to happen!”   Sioned is angry and insists that she has given him her word.
Then Kelly demands the truth;  “Have you changed your mind, or what?”   Sioned is quite adamant that she has not,
"No, I'm going to plead guilty!"
and once again confirms that she will plead guilty, as she wants to move on.   She gets up and stalks out of the Deri,
"You should keep your nose out!"
as Kelly advises Gwyneth that she should keep her nose out of other people’s business.
Then she sends Ed off for his interview, as he has just enough time to get there.
"Leave Sioned alone"
He warns Gwyneth, “Leave Sioned alone – she’s more fragile than she appears.”
"It's all right – I've cancelled tonight"
Iolo tells Tyler that he has cancelled tonight, and that he cannot stand the silence.
"You're not the only one who's been hurt"
He has found one of Greta’s toys, and reminds Tyler that he is not the only one who has been hurt.   “But life goes on, and we have to hope that Liv’s going to do the right thing.”
"She thinks of no-one but herself!"
Tyler responds that she is a junkie and thinks of no-one but herself;
"Even yesterday I believed her lies!"
“It’s true – even yesterday I believed her lies,” then he reveals that he saw Liv yesterday, and that the social workers know nothing of this.
"You can't do this to me!"
“You can’t do this to me!” shouts Iolo, “I know that Greta is your blood relative, but I love her as well.  I have looked after her and held her at night just like a real father.”
"I'm sorry – I've messed up again!"
Tyler sobs that he knows and he is sorry;  “I’ve messed up yet again.   Liv is still clean, and they are living in a hostel.   She made me think that she and Greta were coming back here with me, but left me waiting for 30 minutes outside the toilets – she had gone.
"I'm a real mug!"
“I’m a real mug!”
Gwyneth wants a day off tomorrow
At Awyr Iach, Gwyneth asks Sara if she can have tomorrow off, and is allowed to do so;
"There may well be cause for celebration!"
Gwyneth predicts there may be cause for celebration.   Then Anita comes in, reporting that Megan had a funny turn in the shop earlier,
"Will you check up on Megan?"
and wondering if Sara could check up on her.
"But watch out!"
“But watch out, in case she asks you to be a Chapel Deacon!”
"That Ed gives me the creeps"
Gwyneth again turns up in Sioned’s flat, carrying a bottle, apologising for what she told Ed.   “He gives me the creeps, and I couldn’t help myself,” is her excuse.
"You had no right to interfere!"
Sioned stresses that she had no right to interfere, but Gwyneth proffers the bottle, commenting that it was not cheap.
"Come on, have a glass of wine"
“There’s no harm done – Ed’s gone to an interview, you have given your word – everyone’s happy!” Gwyneth explains, and urges Sioned to just have one glass, otherwise it will be a long night for her.
"Oh, all right, then"
As intended, Sioned agrees.
“You have no idea how worried I am about tomorrow,” she says, but Gwyneth reminds her it will be over in fifteen minutes,
"Would you like me to come with you?"
and asks whether Sioned would like her to come too, as they are friends.   The bottle is opened,
"I don't want to turn up with a hangover!"
but Sioned warns, “Not too much for me – the last thing I want is to turn up hungover and stinking of booze!”
"Come on, Ty, have a glass"
Iolo has also opened a bottle, and implores Tyler to have a glass with him;  the offer is refused as he has marking to do, but he does want to talk about something he has been pondering.
Tyler has changed his mind again . . .
“I don’t think we should consider having our own child at all –
. . . and now does not want to be a father
“I don’t want to be a father, ever.”
"Are you all right now, Megan?"
Sara calls on Megan, and is told that she has a weakness for nice biscuits;  she should learn to say no, and give herself a quick blood test.   “I did that, and it was a bit high –
"I've taken my medicine like a good girl"
“so I’ve taken my medicine like a good girl.   Come through, and you can show me the latest photos of the baby.”
"The last few days have been difficult for both of us"
“The last few days have been difficult for us both,” says Iolo, “I didn’t move out because of Greta, but because of Steve, someone breaking into the house, and all I’ve been through lately.   You’re not being fair on me.”
"I can't handle the worry any more"
Tyler confesses that he cannot handle the worry any more, but Iolo points out that Greta is going to be part of their lives for ever, and Tyler is always going to be related to her.
"We will always worry about Greta"
“We always will have cared for her and we’ll always love her – and we’ll always worry about her!”
Tyler cannot imagine doing all this with another child;  “I always thought we’d have children,” he says, but Iolo comments that if they did adopt, nobody would be quite like Greta.
"Perhaps it was just not meant to be"
Perhaps it just was not meant to be.
Now Anita is preparing mushrooms
This time Anita is slicing mushrooms when Kelly and Ed arrive home in jubilant mood;
"Say hello to the new customer services officer at Glasco!"
“Say hello to Glasco’s new customer services officer!” Kelly announces.   He starts on Monday and cannot wait to get his life back to normal,
Kelly is ready to break open the bubbly . . .
but he prefers not to do any celebrating until tomorrow –
. . . but he wants to wait until tomorrow
then he will treat them both to a takeaway and a bottle of bubbly.
Gwyneth makes sure Sioned's glass is kept filled up
Gwyneth has been plying Sioned with alcohol all evening, insisting that she needs it to numb the pain of standing up and pleading guilty.
"I admire you for doing this, Sioned"
She says that she admires Sioned for going through with it – pleading guilty.   “A lot of people wouldn’t do that,
"If you consider what he is getting away with"
“if you consider what he’s getting away with – killing a man, attacking me, sleeping with your sister. How innocent is he?   He makes you look like an angel!
Is Sioned's resolve crumbling?"
“But there we are, you’ve given him your word.”
"Mam would never forgive me!"
Gwyneth’s ploy seems to be working and Sioned’s resolve weakens;  “But it isn’t right, is it?” she complains, “Mam would never forgive me!”
"Yeah, better to play safe"
Gwyneth agrees that it would be better to play safe.   “I don’t know what to do for the best!” Sioned protests.
"Why don't you let fate decide?"
Gwyneth suggests she could let fate decide, and proposes spinning one of the empty bottles;  “If this stops pointing towards you, you plead guilty.   If it stops pointing towards me, you plead not guilty.”   She is surprised when Sioned agrees to this.
How did Gwyneth manage that?
Gwyneth has somehow engineered it so that the bottle ends up pointing towards her,
"It looks as if Ed will be getting a surprise"
and she comments, “It looks as if Ed will be getting a surprise, after all!”
Sioned is not too sure about this
Sioned remains silent.
