19 October 2017

"I had some toast earlier"
Kelly asks Ed if he fancies coming with her to the café, but he declines the offer;  “Come on, I’ll treat you, she says, but he replies that he had some toast earlier.
"You haven't been out for days"
“You haven’t been out for days – I’m concerned about you,” Kelly tells him,
"Don't you think you should go to the cops?"
“Don’t you think you should go to the cops?   Sioned went back on her word.”   He insists that he knows what she did to him,
"I don't want to talk about it, Kelly"
and does not want to talk about it.
Sheryl takes off her jacket . . .
Sheryl arrives home, takes off her jacket, and hangs it on a hook in the hall;
. . . and then finds a strange coat
then she notices an unfamiliar coat hanging there and looks at it, puzzled.
"Why don't you order a pizza?"
At Maes-y-Deri, Kath cannot understand why Mark is stressing, and tells him to order a pizza or something.
He is making a proper Sunday roast
Mark is determined to make a good impression;  “I’m doing Sunday dinner, so I need to get a chicken, peel the veg, clean the living room.   I haven’t even told Ricky about Non yet!”
"Oh yes – who's this Non?"
Vicky walks in and asks who Non is;  she is concerned about the silence from Mark and Kath.
"Does anyone recognise this coat?"
In the café, Sheryl says that she needs a detective;  “Does anyone recognise this coat?”
It appears that two people do
Mathew, who is sitting at the table, looks distinctly uncomfortable.   Sheryl continues, “It was hanging up by the door,” and Debbie offers to have the coat, and will see if anyone recognises it,
"I love a good mystery, Sher!"
but Sheryl replies that she wants to solve this mystery herself.
"Text Vicky, and tell her we've found her coat"
As soon as she has gone, Debbie whispers to Mathew, “Text Vicky and tell her we’ve found her coat.”
"Any jobs going at the chippy?"
Britt comes in, and Kelly asks if there are any jobs going in the chippy.   “It’s not for me – its for Ed,” she explains, “He needs something to focus on, because of the court case.”
"Yes, I need someone part-time"
Britt admits that she does need someone part-time, and to tell him to call in later for a chat.
“Hang on now – that’s the problem,” Kelly goes on,
"Trouble is, Ed doesn't want a job"
“At the moment, Ed doesn’t actually want a job.”
"Then how am I supposed to give it to him?"
Britt wonders how she is supposed to give someone a job when they do not want one, but Kelly tells her that she has a plan.
Mark tells Vicky about Non . . .
Mark is explaining to Vicky about Non;  “Then I found out that Dad had a relationship with his Welsh teacher and, well, I’ve got another sister.”
. . . and she is surprised
Vicky is very surprised about this.
Just then, Ricky arrives home from school,
"Do you know about your long-lost Auntie Non?"
and Vicky blurts out, “Hey, did you know about your long lost Auntie Non?   He has a right to know.”
"What's going on?"
Ricky looks confused and demands what is going on, so Mark goes through the explanation once again.
"Stacey and I have a half-sister, Non"
“Stacey and I have a half-sister, Non,”
"No, this is down to your Grandfather"
and Kath tells him that it is nothing to do with her;  his grandfather is responsible for this.
"Who just turned up, out of the blue!"
Vicky remarks that this Non just turned up out of the blue;  then she has to go as she has had an SOS from Mathew.
"I only came home to collect this book"
Ricky says that he does not have any questions now, as he only came home to collect a book, and will see his father later.   Mark returns to his cooking.
Kelly has managed to persuade Ed to come to the Deri.   “One pint won’t kill you,” she tells him.
They discover someone unwelcome in the Deri
Then they see Sioned, which makes Ed want to return home.
"That silly cow is breaking her bail conditions!"
“You have a perfect right to be here – that silly cow is breaking her bail conditions!” Kelly announces,
"All right, I'm going"
but then Sioned gets up and leaves.
"Busy at the chippy, Britt?"
Ed is still eager to go home, but Kelly insists on having one drink;  as she has arranged with Britt, they go up to the bar and Kelly asks about trade in the chippy.
"To be honest, I could do with more staff"
Britt replies that it is really busy, and to be honest she could do with more staff.
"Hey, Ed, why don't you go and work there?"
Acting surprised, Kelly suggests, “Hey, Ed, why don’t you go and work there?”   Despite Britt saying that she really needs the help,
"Sorry, not interested, Britt"
he will not consider it, and maintains that he does not feel well,
Kelly trots after him
so leaves the pub, followed by Kelly.
Vicky comes in and asks Mathew what the emergency is;
"We've got a problem!"
“We’ve got a problem!” he announces.
"Stop telling me what's good for me!"
On the way back to number 10, Ed admits that he was not in the mood, and wants Kelly to stop telling him what is good for him.   “I don’t want a job – so leave me alone.”
"You're wasting your life, Ed!"
Once inside the house, she warns him that he is wasting his life; “I know I’m pushing you, but you have to stand up for yourself.
"Sioned is still controlling you!"
“When you’re hiding in here, Sioned is still controlling you – she’s winning!
This causes Ed to think
“Don’t let her!”
Debbie warns Vicky not to make trouble for Mark
When Debbie joins Vicky and Mathew at the bar, she tells Vicky not to make trouble for Mark, but the reply is that Non is the one causing trouble.   Debbie is here to buy wine for the meal.
Sheryl cannot find the coat's owner
Then Sheryl arrives, having drawn a blank about the coat;  “No-one recognises it,” she says,
"Take it to the Maenan Appeal"
and Vicky suggests taking it to the Maenan Appeal.
"I'm going to ring the police tomorrow"
Sheryl is considering ringing the police;  “I know nothing’s been stolen, but I think someone has been in the house!”   Debbie wonders who would possibly break into a house, steal nothing and leave a coat;  this is something which Sheryl regards as ‘creepy’.
Mathew tells her not to phone the police,
"I must have left it there some time"
and Vicky admits that it is her coat, perhaps left when she visited the house.   Sheryl maintains that she has not been there for ages,
Mathew comes clean
and then Mathew confesses that they stayed there for a while, while she was away.
Debbie adds that they had nowhere else to go,
"How did you get in?"
but Sheryl is outraged that they have been squatting in her home, and demands how they got in.
"Eifion had a spare key"
When she hears that Eifion had a spare key, which Mathew took, she cannot believe it.
"You would have done the same, in that situation!"
Vicky explains, “We would have been out on the street, and I couldn’t do that to Nicky – how would you feel if you and Esther were in the same situation?   You would do anything to keep her safe.”
When Debbie offers free coffee in the café for a fortnight, Sheryl is very scathing;
"A few frothy coffees won't make up for that!"
“They have been staying in my house without permission – a few frothy coffees won’t make up for that!”   She throws down the coat and walks out.
"Is the job still available?"
Ed arrives in the chip shop, and asks if the job is still available;  Britt invites him behind the counter, and asks him to taste two substances.
"Curry sauce"
When he pronounces them to be gravy and curry sauce respectively, she advises him that he has passed the test.   “You can start now, if you like,” she says enthusiastically.
"It's good to see you, Ed!"
Sheryl happens to be passing, and is pleased to see Ed;
"He's my new member of staff"
Britt is proud of her new member of staff.   She tells Ed that job number one is to put the kettle on.
"This gravy's full of lumps, Debs!"
Mark is having problems with his gravy, which is full of lumps, but Debbie reassures him that Non is coming to see them, not the gravy.
"Why are you going to all this trouble?"
Vicky cannot understand why they are going to such trouble, and asks what is so special about her.   Then there is a knock at the door;
"Are you going to feed her roast dinner through the letterbox?"
Mark hesitates, so Kath wants to know, “Are you going to answer the door, or  will you give her roast dinner through the letterbox?”
Non is introduced to the family
They all greet Non, but Vicky is not very enthusiastic.
Ricky is pleased to meet her
Ricky is pleased to meet her,
"No – just something I threw together"
and Non hopes that Mark has not gone to any trouble.
Ed is happy in his new job . . .
Ed has already received two tips from satisfied customers;  Britt goes to butter some more rolls.
. . . but Sioned soon puts a stop to that
Then Sioned walks in;  “Well, well – you’ve settled back in,” she taunts him, “And you’ve found your level!
"Even you can cope with putting salt on chips!"
“I’m sure even you can cope with putting salt on chips!   The apron suits you.”
"You're not supposed to talk to me"
Ed reminds her that she is not supposed to talk to him, but she goes on, “We shall see a lot more of each other now I’m working in the shop –
"You're not going to cry, are you?"
“what’s wrong?   You’re not going to cry, are you?”   As she leaves, she tells him, “See you in court!”
All Ed's confidence has evaporated
He immediately takes off his apron, informs Britt that he is not feeling too well and goes home.   She temporarily closes the chippy
Britt apprises Kelly of the situation
and goes straight to the café, where she advises Kelly, “He came in and said he wanted the job, and he seemed to be enjoying himself.
"He looked very upset when he left"
“I don’t know what happened, but he looked very upset whe he left just now.”
Kelly hurriedly puts things away in the fridge . . .
Kelly is in such a hurry that
. . . but omits to close the door properly
she omits to close the fridge door correctly, and rushes out of the café.
Non has a long journey to school each day
Over dinner Non tells them that she likes working with children and making a difference, adding, “It doesn’t help, having to travel from Brecon every day.”
"You're lucky to have a job!"
Vicky grumpily comments that she is lucky to have a job, explaining that she is ‘between jobs’ at the moment.
"She has broken her bail conditions"
Kelly pleads with Ed to go to the police, as Sioned has broken her bail conditions, but he replies that she will twist everything;  “She should be behind bars, not here harassing you!” Kelly insists.
"Everywhere I turn – she's there!"
He says that she is everywhere he turns – and she has a job in the shop as well, so he cannot even buy a pint of milk without having to face her, and gloomily predicts that this is never going to be over.
"Right – I'm going over there now!"
Kelly decides that she is going over there now;  “She can’t get away with this!” she shouts, but he warns that Sioned will do anything to save herself.   He begs her not to go over and see Sioned.
"I should never have come back to Cwmderi"
“I should never have come back to Cwmderi,” he groans,
"Maybe I should move away"
“Maybe I should move away – forget about Sioned and this place – and just get on with my life.”
This is not what Kelly wanted to hear
Kelly looks horrified at this suggestion.
The meal has been successful
At the end of the meal, Non offers to help clear up, but Debbie tells her that is what children are for, much to the displeasure of Vicky.
"I wanted to make a good impression"
Mark says to Debbie that he wanted to make a good impression, and they agree that Non is great.
Non has to travel back to Brecon
She has to leave now, as it is a school night and she has to travel back to Brecon;
"You could stay here while you're at the school"
Debbie suggests that she could stay at Maes-y-Deri while she is at the school.
"There's no room"
Vicky interrupts to say that there is no room, but Debbie insists that it would give her a chance to get to know Mark.
"A history tutor, free of charge!"
Ricky remarks that he would also have a history tutor free of charge.
Mark gives Non a hug
Non is very grateful, and Mark hugs her before she goes.
"Asking a total stranger to come and live with us?"
Debbie demands what is wrong with Vicky, and is told, “You ask a total stranger to come and live with us?   There isn’t enough room here.”
Her mother points out that Non is part of Mark’s family, and so part of Vicky’s family too.
"You'll have to deal with it!"
“She’s going to stay here, and you’ll have to deal with it!”
Kelly comes creeping into number 10
It is dark when Kelly slips quietly in through the front door of number 10,
"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"
and she is surprised by Ed, who asks where she has been.   She tells him that she forgot to do something at the café, and he apologises about earlier.
"It all gets too much sometimes"
“It all gets too much sometimes, you know.”
"So you didn't mean what you said?"
Worried, she asks, “You didn’t mean what you said earlier, did you?   When you said about going away, like?”   He answers that he has nowhere to go, and thanks her for being such good friend.
"I don't know what I'd do without you"
“Having someone in my life I can trust at last – I don’t know what I’d do without you.”   He goes upstairs, while Kelly walks into the kitchen,
Could Kelly have blood on her hands?
turns on the tap and washes what might be blood from her hands.
