3 October 2017

"No-one believes that!"
Standing by the coffin, DJ tells Dai that the doctor claims he killed Mam, but Dai replies that no-one believes that.   DJ continues, “He says I went to Llwyncelyn on purpose to send him here after I’d given her the tablets.   How can I ignore him?
"He's calling me a murderer!"
He’s calling me a murderer!   I told the police that I had hidden the tablets – he must have given to them to her.”
Dai suggests going back to the police, but DJ says they will not believe him;
"Elgan has contacts, high up"
“Elgan has contacts, high up – that’s why the police can’t touch him.”
Diane chanegs the subject to the funeral flowers
Diane tries to change the subject, asking if the flowers have been organised for tomorrow.   DJ tells her that Jan from Llanarthur is sorting it out, and he goes to get changed.
"That's all he's got going round in his head!"
“That’s all he’s got going around in his head – Elgan’s accusation,” says Dai,
"What if the doctor's allegations are true?"
but Diane appears to be deep in thought.   Dai is going over to see Vernon, but she asks what if the doctor’s allegation is true.
"How would the doctor know where the tablets were kept?"
“After all, DJ and Linda had talked about the tablets, and how would Elgan know where they were kept?   What DJ says doesn’t make much sense.”
They are off for a bike ride
Gwyneth and Sioned come out of the café, both carrying crash helmets;  “There’s a first time for everything,” says Gwyneth, but Sioned does not want her to go too fast, or she might fall off the back.
"80mph round corners!"
“The Gower Peninsula will be quiet, so I can go 80mph around corners!” jokes Gwyneth.
"Surprised you have anything to laugh about!"
They meet Eifion, who is surprised they have anything to laugh about, with the plea hearing next week.   Sioned tells him to get lost.
"I said it was a mistake, didn't I?"
Inside APD, Jason demands, “I said it was a mistake to start a new company, didn’t I?  If avoiding court cases was that easy, every Tom, Dick and Harry would be doing it.
"That Vernon is a crook!"
“That Vernon is a crook – I don’t believe a word he says!”
"Dai has got another idea from him!"
Diane tells him that Dai was talking to Vernon on the phone again last night, and he has another idea.
“What is it this time?” Jason asks, “Packing up and moving to Brazil?
"I don't know why Dai is bothering with that monkey!"
“I don’t know why Dai is bothering with that monkey!”   Diane reveals that they had another word with their solicitor yesterday, and it seems that on top of the fine, there is a possibility they could go to prison.
"What can we do for you, Eifion?"
At that point, Eifion swaggers in,
"I heard you had money problems"
saying he has heard they might be in financial difficulties.
"Anita, can you look after Greta?"
Tyler is on the phone to Anita, asking if she can take Greta again today, as Elinor has let him down,
"I'm sure I can find someone else"
but finds that she is not available.
"You could sell some stock to me"
Eifion explains, “I’m not saying you’ve gone bust – but if you had and wanted cash quickly, you could sell some stock to me.”
"We're not going into liquidation"
Jason emphasises that APD is not going into liquidation, and Diane points out that they are in court on a health and safety matter.
"Eifion, get lost, will you?"
When Dai comes in, Jason tells him that apparently there is a rumour going around Cwmderi that they are in financial difficulties.   Dai’s reaction is, “Eifion, get lost, will you?”
"Gethin doesn't think he'll get his bathroom"
Eifion insists he got this from a reliable source – Gethin in the Deri last night, who is not sure when he is getting his new bathroom.   Dai tells him, “We can’t put the bathroom in tomorrow as we promised, because we’re going to a funeral, but it will be in by the end of the week.”
"Stop sneering!"
When Eifion has gone, Dai reveals Vernon’s latest ruse;  he tells Jason, “Stop sneering – I don’t see you coming up with any bright ideas!
"Give the chair of the bench a backhander!"
Vernon thinks we should give the chair of the bench a backhander.
"What?   A bribe?"
“Yes, Jason, a bribe!”   Diane cannot believe that he is serious.
Kelly is added to the babysitting rota
There is a knock on the door of number 7, and Kelly arrives, as the latest babysitter.   Tyler tells her she is a lifesaver, and has assembled all that is necessary on the kitchen table;  Kelly says that as it is a nice day, they might go out.
"Hiya, Ty!"
Then someone else arrives – it is Liv, and Tyler looks dumbstruck.
"How exactly does this work?"
Jason demands, “How exactly does Vernon see this working?”
"We take out £5,000 in cash . . ."
Dai explains that they take £5,000 out in cash, and this is the plan – Vernon will have a word with the guy tonight, and if he agrees – and Vernon is confident that he will –
". . . the guy gets a discreet gift"
“one of us will give the guy a discreet gift.”
"A brown envelope"
“A brown envelope?” suggests Jason,
"I don't care what colour it is"
and is told that the transaction will be done on Llanarthur Mountain.   Apparently he has even picked a layby.
"Layby bribe – bye bye problem!"
“Yes, ‘Layby bribe – bye bye problem!’ as Vernon put it – perfect,” says Dai.
"We shall just get a slap on the wrist"
Then he predicts that in court on Thursday they will simply have a slap on the wrist, and a warning to stay within the health and safety regulations.   “There might be a small fine, merely a token gesture, so that no one suspects anything.”   He insists that this is the way forward, to save the business, but neither Diane nor Jason share his enthusiasm.
"I don't want anything to do with it!"
“Well, I’ve heard enough of this, and I don’t want anything to do with it, OK?” is Jason’s reply.   Diane agrees that this is a huge risk, and reminds him that they bribed someone before and it did not work.
"You will not do that, Dai!"
She instructs him that this is not going to happen.
"She has grown so much"
Liv is surprised at how much Greta has grown since she was last there,
"She's awake all night"
but Tyler advises that she has not got a sleeping pattern yet, and is awake all night.   Tyler is going to call in sick,
"Well, if you don't need me, Tyler"
and so Kelly leaves.
"I've been living a bit rough in London"
Liv reveals that she has been in London, living a bit rough;
"I've neem worried sick about you"
Tyler says that she left without a word and he has been worried sick about her.   “I had to go, and I knew she’d be safer here with you than with me,” she tells him, “I didn’t have any choice – I had to flee quickly –
"Steve wanted me to settle my debts"
“Steve was after me, he wanted me to settle my debts.”
"He must have been the bloke who threatened Iolo"
Tyler assumes that Steve was the one who was looking for her last week, and threatened Iolo with a knife.   He fears that Steve might come back, but she replies that he will not, and Tyler should not worry.
"These things happen, Diane"
“Backhanders, kickbacks, these things happen, Diane,” Dai tells her, “That’s the way the wheels of business turn.
"Woul;d you rather see us go bankrupt?"
“Would you rather see us go bankrupt?   We’ll pay a hefty fine, or end up in prison – that’s what will happen!”
DJ arrives
Then DJ comes in, looking rather subdued;
"You should go and get some sleep"
Dai suggests that he go home and get some sleep, as he was up and about during the night.   He is going to need his strength and stamina.   “No, there is no point in lying down – I wouldn’t be able to sleep, anyway,” DJ replies,
"I can't put this Elgan business out of my mind"
“This business with Elgan is weighing heavily on me.   I can’t put it out of my mind.”
"I have the names of a couple of therapists"
Diane raises the subject of therapy, but DJ is quite adamant that he is not going to see a therapist;
"The only thing that will give me peace of mind is justice!"
“The only thing that will give me peace of mind is justice!”
"Is Iolo working today?"
Liv asks if Iolo is working today, and Tyler informs her that he has moved out for a while.
"He went to live with Siôn"
“Last week after Steve threatened him, he went to stay with Siôn.”   He denies that they have split up, and tells her that since she disappeared it has not been easy for them.   “Raising a baby and working full-time is not easy –
"Having someone turn up with a knife doesn't help!"
“and having someone turn up with a knife doesn’t help!”
She accuses him of giving her a guilt trip;
"You're angry with me"
“You’re angry with me, and I don’t blame you.”
"But I'm glad you're back"
He admits that he is angry but is also glad that she is back.
"I'm determined to be a good mother"
“I’m determined to be a good mother – it’s the only thing I want,” she assures him.
"Good news about Dr P"
Kelly meets Gaynor in the street, and comments that it is good news about Dr P, and that the nightmare is over at last.
"I have my reservations about him"
“Mind you, I have my reservations about him,” she says, “In situations like these, no-one is 100%.    Auntie Anita said you’d split up.”
Gaynor cannot wait to get away
Gaynor makes no reply and is keen to get away.
"That was fantastic – especially along the beach!"
Back from their outing on the motorcycle, Sioned remarks that it was fantastic, especially along the beach.   “Next time we’ll go for a proper ride – I’ve got a cousin in Glasgow – we could stay with him,” suggests Gwyneth,
"I might not get the chance"
but Sioned is afraid they will not get the chance.
“Do you think I’ll get off?” she asks, and is told that the maximum she will get is a suspended sentence.
"Doing the right thing – for once!"
Kelly, who has been at the cashpoint, remarks that she is relieved that Sioned is doing the right thing – for once,
"I shall plead guilty"
and Sioned confirms that she will be pleading guilty.
"I am, actually!"
Gwyneth enquires if she is getting a kick out of this, and Kelly tells her, “I am, actually!”
DJ is thinking hard
In APD, Dai and Diane are eating their sandwiches, while DJ sits with the determined look on his face, then asks,
"Could I bring a case against Elgan myself?"
“Do you think I could bring a case against Elgan myself?   Is that possible?”   Dai replies that it depends on how much evidence he has.
“If I found that bottle of pills, his fingerprints will be on it!”   Then he receives a text from Sara, and has to go to Awyr Iach.
"He's going to have a nervous breakdown"
Diane predicts that he will have a nervous breakdown, the way he is carrying on.
"Who will look after him?   We'll be in prison!"
“And who will look after him then?” demands Dai, “We’ll both be in prison!”   Diane reminds him that the solicitor said it was a minor possibility.   He insists that £5,000 is a small price to pay,
"Vernon said his plan is foolproof!"
and that Vernon said the plan is foolproof.
"I'm up for a trip to Glasgow"
In Sioned’s flat, she anticipates, “When I get a suspended sentence, I’m up for a trip to Glasgow!”   She appreciates Gwyneth’s support,
"It's important to be in the right frame of mind"
and is told that it is important for her to be in the right frame of mind.
Oh – Gwyneth is trying the touchy-feely approach
As Gwyneth caresses her hair, Sioned remarks, “I don’t want to sound rude, but I’m straight.
However, Sioned expresses a preference for men
“I tried it once, but on the whole, I’d say I prefer men.
"But you never know"
“But you never know.”
Which is encouragement for Gwyneth to try harder
Gwyneth’s expression indicates she intends to try and change that.
"Are you staying this time?"
“You’re so good with her,” Liv tells Tyler, “You’re making me feel jealous.”   He demands whether she is staying this time,
"Of course I am"
and when she confirms that she is, he says there are a few things that they have to get straight.
"You realise you can't stay here"
“Firstly, you realise you can’t stay here, don’t you?”
"But I've only just come back from London"
She pleads that she has only just come back from London,
"If social services find out"
but he reminds her that if social services find out, it could complicate matters for her and Greta, and there is no telling who has seen her in the village.
"Are you kicking me out?"
“Are you kicking me out?” Liv asks, but Tyler insists that she has to go to social services to seek help.   She is adamant she does not need help, as she is clean now, and has done it all on her own.   She begs to be allowed to stay there, but Tyler cannot take the risk.
“I’ve just seen Greta, and I don’t want to leave her again,” she begs;
"You must go and see social services early tomorrow!"
Tyler relents, but demands that she goes to see social services early tomorrow morning, otherwise they could lose Greta for ever.
