20 October 2017

Eileen arranges the plants outside the shop
Eileen is bringing out some plants from the shop;  when Sioned emerges from the café, she looks with horror across the road.   “What on earth?   When did this happen?”
They survey the graffiti
Eileen looks at the Welsh translation of the word ‘BITCH’ which has been inscribed in red on either side of the shop frontage;  she explains that it was not there when she closed the shop, and urges Sioned not to be angry with her.
Garry appears definitely amused
Garry passes on the other side of the road, and regards the graffiti as very amusing.   “Redecorating?” he shouts,
"Is this anything to do with you?"
and Sioned demands whether this is anything to do with him.   “No, it was there last night when I locked up,” he replies, “But I didn’t want to tell you,” and he walks off, still laughing.
"It will come off with soap and water"
Eileen says that it will come off with some soap and water;  Kelly approaches, and comments that someone is having a bad day.
"Who would waste their time doing this?"
“Who would waste their time doing such a thing,” Eileen wonders.
Kelly can think of lots of people;  “Sioned is not exactly flavour of the month, is she?
"I would have written something far worse"
Get one thing straight – I would have written something far worse!”
"What a beautiful morning!"
Kelly arrives at the café;  she remarks to Debbie what a beautiful morning it is, and again denies that it was her.   “I just like to see people getting what they deserve!” she says, but Debbie feels sorry for Eileen, as you cannot choose your family.
"He's far too cautious!"
Then she suggests it might have been Ed, but Kelly is quick to point out, “He’s far too cautious – it could be anyone in the village.”
Then Kelly discovers the open fridge door
Then Kelly walks past the fridge, and realises that the door has been open all night;
"Oh, no!"
she removes a packet of cooked meat and puts it in the bin, closing the fridge door securely.
"Someone's going to pay for this!"
Sioned is insisting that someone is going to pay for this;
"I don't want Jim to be any more stressed!"
Eileen reminds her that it is coming up to a year since Courtney died, and she does not want Jim to be any more stressed.   Sioned says that she is going to find out who did this –
"If I can't find out, the police can"
and if she cannot, the police can.   Her mother reminds her that she is in enough trouble already, and carries the bucket of water out to clean up the graffiti.
"I need to report a crime"
Sioned immediately takes out her phone and calls the police;  “I need to report a crime.”
The graffiti attracts some attention
Anita and Gaynor stop outside the café and watch Eileen’s efforts to remove the lettering;  Gaynor is not surprised that it happened,
"Someone's not having a good morning"
and when Elgan passes, he comments that someone is not having a good morning.
"I have to check on the community fridge"
Anita goes to check on the community fridge, leaving Elgan and Gaynor to exchange pleasantries.
"I have a day off today"
He says that he has a day off today,
"I'm on the way to a meeting"
but she is on her way to a meeting at the education department.   Then he sees Garry and excuses himself.
"What do you mean?   I am talking to you!"
“Pretend you’re talking to me,” Elgan says, and Garry tells him it is safe now, as Gaynor has gone.
"If you fancy letting off steam"
“It’s bit bit early for a drink, but I’ve got another idea, if you fancy letting off steam,” Elgan tells him.
"My taste buds are OK"
In the café, Dani reports that the milk is off;  “My hormones are up-and-down, but my taste buds are OK.”
"I'm so sorry, Dani – have a free cake!"
Debbie will make her another cup and offers her a free cake.
"Mark said his bacon sandwich tasted funny"
Kelly looks concerned, as Debbie is sure that the milk was fresh yesterday;  “And Mark complained that his bacon sandwich tasted funny – but I said it was his imagination.”
"Well, the food seems cold"
Debbie checks the fridge, finds it is still on and the food seems to be cold,
"Must be a freak batch"
so Kelly suggests that it must be a freak batch of milk.
Eileen is still scrubbing when the police arrive, and she scolds Sioned for calling them.   “You told me that I’m not your daughter any more, so I don’t have to listen!” she replies,
"We have a duty to report it"
“This is a crime and we have a duty to report it.”
Sioned draws their attention to the 'hate crime'
She tells the officers that she needs to report a hate crime;  “As you can see, someone’s done this to the shop and I want a full investigation.”
Ed comes out of number 10
Ed comes out of the door of number 10,
"You can start with him, over there!"
and Sioned issues instructions to them, “You can start with him, over there!”
Dani bewails her lot
In the Deri, Dani tells Anita, “My ankles are like balloons, I need the toilet all the time and my husband’s ditched me.   I had a text saying that he would be out all morning.”
"Not me – I don't have a man!"
When Gaynor comes in, Dani tells her that they are moaning about men, but Anita excuses herself from this, maintaining that she does not have a man.
"The relationship had run its course"
Gaynor apologises if things were awkward with Elgan earlier, and explains that they both knew that it had run its course;
Anita knows there is more to it than that
they agreed that they were better off as friends.
Ed has been interviewed
When Kelly returns to number 10 at lunchtime, she finds the two police officers talking to Ed, and remarks that it is like Hawaii Five-0.   When she learns that he has been interviewed about the graffiti,
"Harassing an innocent member of the public!"
she shouts after the officers, “You should be ashamed, harassing an innocent member of the public!”
"You're the victim, not her!"
Ed tells her she will only make matters worse, and they must have thought that he did it.   Kelly squeals, “That’s ridiculous – you’re the victim, not her!”
"Was it you?"
He looks at her and asks whether she did it.
"Of course not, Ed!"
“Of course not!” she replies.
Now Sioned is even more angry
Sioned is furious that the police are not going to do anything, as there is not enough evidence.
"There is no proof"
Eileen points out that they investigated as she wanted, and there is no proof.   “If you hadn’t washed the wall, they might have found fingerprints!” Sioned snarls and storms out of the flat, just as Cadno arrives.
"I thought you might need a cup of tea"
“I saw what happened, and I thought you might need a cup of tea,” she says.
"Playing squash?"
Garry and Elgan return to the Deri in a very jovial mood, and Dani demands where they have been;  she is very surprised when told they have been playing squash,
"We're going to have a weekly match"
and Elgan insists they are going to have a weekly match.
"A glass of red wine can extend life expectancy"
Anita comments that it is one way of making people feel guilty;  Elgan replies, “Several reports have suggested that glass of red wine can extend life expectancy,” and he offers to buy her another one.
This has been overheard by Gaynor . . .
Gaynor has just come in,
. . . who decides that it is flirting
and comments to Anita that it is obvious she is flirting with him.
"Don't let her upset you"
Cadno advises Eileen not to let Sioned upset her;  “I try to keep her at arm’s length, but she always drags me back in,” Eileen says,
"That graffiti was right!"
“I may be her mother, but that graffiti was right – she is a cow!   Sioned suspects everyone – because everyone hates her.   Nobody is coming into the shop since she started working here – I don’t know what to do!”
Cadno admires her because whatever Sioned has done, Eileen has always been there for her, but thinks she is making a mistake this time.
"She should fight this battle on her own!"
“She’s having a negative impact on your business and your nerves.   She makes you unhappy and doesn’t even appreciate you!   I think she should fight this battle on her own.”
Debbie arrives for a G&T . . .
Debbie comes into the Deri for a G&T, but then has a phone call from Ricky, who says that Mark is throwing up in the bathroom.
. . . but receives an urgent summons from Ricky
She advises him to give his father a bucket, and she will be straight home.
"You're out of shape, Mr Monk"
Elgan tells Garry, “I’d say that you’re out of shape, Mr Monk,”
"You're not bad, considering your age"
and he replies that Elgan is a good player, considering his age.   The doctor will show him a few clips of professional players on the Internet, which will help his game, and they can book a court for next week.
"Don't worry about your pregnant wife!"
“Yes, don’t worry about your pregnant wife!” jokes Dani.
"Sorry for what I said, Anita"
Gaynor apologises to Anita for what she said, and is told that there is nothing going on between her and Elgan.   “I just came in and saw him laughing, without a care in the world,” says Gaynor, “The truth is, it wasn’t a mutual decision – he ended the relationship.   Another relationship comes to nothing.”
"I know what it's like to be lonely"
Anita sympathises, as she knows what it is like to be lonely, and invites Gaynor to join her for a bite to eat and a bottle of wine.   “I’d love to do that!   It’s better than the meal for one at home,” Gaynor replies.
Eileen is certainly not in a conciliatory mood this time
Eileen goes to Sioned’s flat and is greeted by, “If you’re not going to apologise, I don’t care!   I’m the victim!”
"You're far from being a victim!"
Her mother points out that she is far from being a victim;  “I’ve supported you through everything, and tried to help you.   All you had to do was keep your head down!   I can’t do this any more – I don’t want you working in the shop.”
"You might as well throw me into prison yourself!"
“You might as well throw me into prison yourself!” Sioned rages, “I need this job!”
Eileen is in complete despair at Sioned
Eileen does not even think that Sioned believes what she did was wrong,
"Mam – come back!"
turns her back and walks out.
"That whole family are nuts!"
Kelly and Ed are walking round the corner when they see Eileen come out of the café, with Sioned chasing after her.   Kelly comments that the whole family are nuts, but Ed remarks that it is not easy for Eileen.
"What kind of mother turns her back on her child?"
As they get nearer to the shop, Sioned admits, “I’m not perfect, I know that – but who is?   You’re not – what kind of mother turns her back on her child?”   Eileen replies that she is the sort of mother that knows her child will never learn until she lets her fall.
Then she sees someone else to harangue
Then Sioned takes out her anger on Ed;
"This isn't over!"
“You might have won the battle, but this isn’t over!   I know you did that graffiti!”
"You're officially loop-the-loop off your rocker!"
“You’re crazy!” yells Kelly, “ You’re officially loop-the-loop off your rocker!”   Sioned replies that she was probably in on it too.   Ed insists that he will have his revenge in court, and would be stupid to do this,
Ed does not like the sound of these threats
but Sioned vows that she is going to wipe the floor with him.
"I can't wait until that deluded witch is locked up!"
Back inside the house, Kelly goes on, “I can’t wait until that deluded witch is locked up.   What a nerve – talking to you like that!
"How about we order a curry?"
How about we order a curry tonight and watch a film?   To take your mind off you-know-who?”
"No, Kelly"
She is amazed when Ed declines the offer;  “You’ve never refused a Prawn Jalfrezi before – and I’m chucking a couple of onion bhajis.”
"She's going to win!"
Ed confesses he cannot stop thinking about Sioned, because what she said is true;  “She’s going to win!”   Kelly tells him not to dare think like that, but he goes on, “I’ve had a police interrogation, and Sioned will use it against me.   I know her – she’ll twist the story.    Nobody else has been charged for the damage – she’ll suggest it was me, that I’m unstable or emotional.
"Who would be stupid enough to have done it?"
Anyway who would be stupid enough to have done it?”   Of course the court will think I did it – I’m going to go through this and nobody will believe me!”
"I did it!"
“I did it!” admits Kelly, “I painted the graffiti on the shop!   If Sioned suggests in court that you did it, I shall confess.”
Ed is dumbfounded
Ed is lost for words.
"Typical – I spoil everything!"
In the Deri, Gaynor says that this is typical – she spoils everything.   Anita agrees that he is quite a man, but not the right person for Gaynor.   “There is someone better out there for you,” Anita insists, and wonders if she has considered trying one of the dating apps.
"My friend, Heulwen . . ."
“My friend, Heulwen, found someone really nice – he comes from Greece, his name is Costas, and he’s gorgeous.   He only lives round the corner from her.”
"But what if the pupils found out?"
Gaynor is not very keen on this idea, in case one of the school pupils found out, and says that she is not interested.
Anita predicts that Gaynor would be quite an attraction
Anita predicts that they would be queueing up to match with her.
Their meals are delivered to their table . . .
Dani brings their meals, Pasta Bake and a curry,
. . . but Anita suddenly comes over very queasy
but all of a sudden, Anita does not feel well, and thinks she will have to go home.
"How could you do something so stupid?"
Ed is furious;  “I asked you not to do anything – when I asked if it was you, you lied to me.   How could you do something so stupid?”
"I couldn't stand the way she treated you!"
Kelly screams that she cannot stand the way Sioned treats him, and was sticking up for him.
Anita rushes in and straight to the bathroom
Anita comes in the front door and immediately runs upstairs.
"You were the only person I trusted!"
Ed continues, “You were the only person I trusted in this place!   I don’t know if you’ve ruined my case,
"You've ruined our friendship!"
but you have ruined our friendship!”
Kelly is reduced to tears
He grabs his coat and leaves the house, with Kelly in tears.
