and Sheryl asks her to keep him away at lunchtime, as she is Skyping Hywel in Malaysia. He is enjoying himself with Rhys.

“I could have done with Hywel’s help yesterday,” Britt tells her, “There was a virus on Colin’s laptop, but someone rang up to sort it out under guarantee.”
Cheryl warns her that she needs to be careful with anyone who contacts her by phone;

“As long as you didn’t give him the password – you didn’t, did you?”

| "I had to, so he could sort it out" |
Britt replies that she had to, so that he could sort out the problem,

but Sheryl urges her to check in case someone has hacked the computer.
Britt maintains there is nothing to hack on Colin’s computer except his dancing,

At Maes-y-Deri, Ricky is trying to work, but Nicky’s crying is disturbing him; Mark explains that he just wants to see his mother.

Debbie thinks that now she has settled him, and wonders why Ricky is not at school, so he tells her that he is doing the work set by Non.

“Vicky should be back by now – it’s not right to leave him overnight!” says Mark, so Debbie phones her.

Vicky is lounging on the sofa at Penrhewl, and is not keen to answer the phone, but she eventually does. “I’m enjoying myself here,” she says, “Cadno and Eifion have gone away for a few days.”

Debbie informs her that she cannot get Nicky to settle;

Vicky explains that a stranger has arrived and upset him. “You should be here with Nicky now!” she is told by her mother.

Colin is showing Sheryl his footage of their waltz; he suggests that a bit of variation would be nice, and that they should put a foxtrot in there.

Dai and Diane have just come in, and tell him that he does not have to take it so seriously.
“Being the first Cwm Dancing Champions is an honour, and we plan to be at the top of the podium,” announces Colin.

Dai tells him that they hardly ever practise, and are going to turn up just to show willing, as that is what matters. Diane replies that they do not want to make fools of themselves.

“Those two don’t know the difference between a foxtrot and Basil Brush,” Dai insists.

Sheryl meets Britt outside the shop, and says that she is starting to like her partner now; she really wants to win this dancing. She asks if Britt has checked Colin’s computer,

and is told that everything is OK.
“Hywel knows people who have lost work, photos, money – and they’re impossible to trace!” Sheryl says,

but Britt is very insistent that she has not been tricked.
Then Chester and Hannah appear around the corner; “You know about computers, don’t you?” says his mother,

and he advises her to switch it off and back on again.

“There was a virus on Colin’s laptop, and a bloke helped me sort it out,” she continues,

so Chester comes to the conclusion that she does not need his help.
“Can I find out who it was, to send a message to thank him?” she asks, but Chester thinks there is little likelihood of that.

He and Hannah go into the shop, where they are accused to by Dai of standing around and doing nothing. Diane says if they come to Bryntirion, she will make them some lunch, but Chester decides that he will go home as he does not want another bill.

“Good,” announces Dai, “I’m glad to see that you’re finally learning!” Diane, on the other hand, informs him that he is always welcome at Bryntirion. She tells Dai that they are going home to practise their dancing,

When Vicky gets back to Maes-y-Deri, she finds that Nicky is quite happy, and accuses her mother of trying to make her feel guilty.

Mark suggests that she could have taken him with her;

“So Non can get her beauty sleep?” rages Vicky, “No way! Sorry if he was a hassle for you – I won’t ask you to babysit again.”

Mark understands that it is awkward for them, and realises that they need their own place. Mathew argues that they are trying to find jobs, but it is not easy. “If we don’t find a job, will you kick me and Nicky out again?” demands Vicky.

In the kitchen at Bryntirion, Diane has found what she thinks is the video used by Colin and Sheryl; DJ has heard that they are practising non-stop, so Diane is determined that she will be one step ahead of them.

“We shall have to have private lessons!” DJ points out that it will not be easy to teach his father, especially if he has to pay. Diane has decided that they are not going to make fools of themselves.

“and now £147,000 has disappeared from his account. I’m trying to settle the matter, so that he doesn’t get upset – he lost his father not long ago.

“No, as I said, you can’t speak to him because he’s not here. Well, thanks for nothing!” She throws down the phone.

Diane tells Dai that anyone can learn to dance in a couple of hours, but he protests that he is a busy man and does not have the time. Dai wonders what DJ knows about dancing anyhow,

The angry reply is, “You’ll be dancing in a minute, after I kick somewhere tender! I’ve told you I don’t want you here, so get lost!” Diane is adamant that he must get used to an audience, and he should just listen to what DJ says.

Mark assures Vicky that they are not going to kick her out, and that he has always thought of her as his daughter; “We want what’s best for all of you.”

Debbie comments that Vicky should have been looking for a job today, not lazing at Penrhewl. “We love having you here, but you’re not being fair on yourself or Nicky,” adds Mark
“I know it wasn’t easy for you growing up,” Debbie tells her, “I regret you having to live with your Dad, but I had to stay here with Ricky.”

Vicky replies that Ricky was always her mother’s favourite, that she thought Vicky was thick, and a lost cause; she alleges that everyone else thinks that.

Dai is going to have some lunch while there is still some left;

then he notices that Chester is filming, and warns him to delete it, pronto. “But it’s on YouTube, and you’ve had lots of hits!” Chester tells him. Dai promises that he will be the one who gets hit in a minute, and orders him to go back to school.
Hannah points out they have no lessons this afternoon, but Dai informs her she is not going to lie in front of the telly all day.

She is dismayed when Sheryl answers, “About month or so.” She wants to discuss the virus on the laptop with him, and although insisting it is sorted out,

Sheryl will ask him next time he phones.

Colin finds her there, but she says she does not want anything to eat; he suspects that she is not well, and wants her to stay away from him in case it is a bug. “I don’t want anything to interfere with the dancing,” so she hurries home.

Just then Dai and Diane come in, and Dai addresses Colin as, “Gene Kelly – or Ned Kelly, more like!” When Colin hears that Dai has had to pull out of the competition,

he is upset, but Diane reassures him that she has a new partner.
She has a phone call and goes to answer it;

DJ promises that they will bring some of the Irish spirit into the dance, as he is sure that the judges would enjoy that. “You stick to your boring tango,” he tells Colin. Dai is confident that Diane will stand a better chance with a younger partner.

Diane tells them that the agent in Spain was calling, and they have had an offer for the villa; “The trouble is, I will have to go out there next week to sort it out. I’m sorry, but this is important – I’ll have to pull out!”

Colin is worried that the competition will be a farce, if he is the only one entering.

Back at the chip shop flat, Britt looks dejectedly at the laptop screen, giving the balance in Colin’s account. Then he comes rushing in;

“You’ll never believe what’s happened now – Dai and Diane have pulled out of the dancing! At this rate, Sheryl and I will be the only couple competing.”

Then he sees Britt’s downhearted expression and apologises for carrying on and on about this dancing, but he cannot help it as he is enjoying himself so much.

She replies that she is all right, but is just tired; “You’ve been in front of that computer for several days, and it’s not doing you any good,” he says.
