16 October 2017

Eifion is surprised to see Sheryl back . . .
Eifion is unloading vegetables from his 4x4 when he is surprised to see Sheryl back home;  she is suffering from jetlag, and not sure what day it is.
. . .but it transpires that she has left Hywel there
“We had such a good time that Hywel stayed out there to do some travelling with Rhys,” she tells him.
"Is the house all right?"
Eifion enquires if the house is all right, and she replies that there are not any burst pipes, or mice in the kitchen.
"How are you, Eifion?"
Then he continues down the street and encounters Sioned, who asks how he is;
"What do you want?"
he asks her what she wants,
"I need a character witness"
and she tells him that she needs a character witness in court.
“It’s hard to leave the farm – sorry!” he says,
"You don't have a clue, do you?"
“You don’t have a clue, do you?” and walks away.
Eileen wants to raise some money to remember Courtney
In the shop, before Colin goes for his lunch, Eileen asks for his opinion about doing something to raise money to remember Courtney.   “It has been almost a year – it’s hard to believe.”
Colin suggests various marathons
He thinks that it is a lovely idea, and suggests a marathon, or half-marathon.   Or perhaps a reading marathon, or even eating marathon.
"A dance competition, like on television"
“Jim and I have already decided,” reveals Eileen, “A dance competition like on television, and the money goes to Children in Need.   I have checked with Megan, and the vestry will be available.
Colin says it sounds like a good idea
“There will be sponsorship, and I thought couples could pay £100 each to take part, so with the fee and sponsorship we should make a lot of money.   Jim and I will give the winners £200.”
They'll be queueing round the block"
Colin predicts that they will be queueing round the block to take part;  Eileen wants to find a celeb to judge it.   “We want to do something positive, because Courtney loved ‘Strictly’.
"How about 'Strictly Cwm Dancing'?"
Colin comes up with a brilliant idea for  name – “Strictly Cwm Dancing”, and considers himself a genius.
"Fancy a couple of drinks this weekend?"
At number 7, Iolo suggests that they could go out for a couple of drinks in Swansea this weekend, but Tyler is not in the mood.   Iolo points out that Liv might get in touch with social services, and urges Tyler to give her a chance.
"I've given her chance after chance"
Tyler laments, “I have given her chance after chance – how long will she cope?
"Social services and the police won't find her"
“Social services and the police won’t find her – Liv’s file is just one of dozens on some social worker’s desk, who doesn’t have the time or money to focus on any case.
"I'm never going to see them again"
“I have to face it, I’m never going to see Liv or Greta again.”
Colin's very energetic dance moves
In the chip shop flat, Colin is practising his dance moves, much to Britt’s amusement;  she calls him Snake Hips Evans.
He drags Britt into it . . .
He grabs her hand, but she is reluctant to dance.   He tells her that Jim and Eileen are organising a Cwm Dancing night, in memory of Courtney, and is confident that they will win the £200.
. . . but she suddenly loses interest
However, as soon as he mentions the fact that it will be held in the vestry, Eileen insists that she does not want to do anything there.   “You  should have asked me first, Col.   I’ll make a donation, but I’m not shaking my bits and making a fool of myself.
"I was shot by my own son in the vestry!"
“I was shot by my own son in the vestry – I’m not going there for disco, so tell Eileen we won’t be taking part!”
Colin is crestfallen
Colin looks very disappointed.
Tyler is ready to go to school
Tyler is about to leave for school when Iolo suggests that they go and search for Liv.   Tyler reminds him that he is already in trouble about school, and calls it a waste of time, as they do not know where she is, and if the authorities cannot find her, they will have no chance.
"I don't want to wake up in the night, worrying"
“I don’t want to wake up during the night, worrying about Greta,” Iolo tells him, “It’s worth trying, isn’t it?”
Tyler gives in
Tyler agrees, and will text Gaynor with some excuse on the way.
Sheryl comes in for chips for one
Britt is slaving away in the chippy when Sheryl walks in to order one portion of chips;
"I like your new hairdo!"
Britt admires her new hairdo.
"I love 'Strictly', but Hywel is still in Canada"
Sheryl picks up one of Eileen’s flyers from the counter, and says that she loves ‘Strictly’, but cannot sign up as Hywel is still in Canada.
"Colin could be your partner!"
Britt tells her that Colin is very keen to do it, and could be her partner, but Sheryl is not particularly attracted to this possibility,
Sheryl turns up her nose at the offer
saying that she does not think it is a good idea.   “You don’t think he’s good enough for you, do you?” Britt demands, and when Sheryl denies this,
"No, Sheryl – they're on the house"
Britt gives her the chips free of charge.
Sioned regrets pleading not guilty
Sioned tells Gwyneth in the café that she made a mistake, pleading not guilty;  “I can’t even get a character witness!”   Gwyneth replies that they need to focus on making her a believable and likeable witness.
"Nothing could make me likeable!"
With the benefit of experience, Sioned is very doubtful that anything could make her likeable,
"We should find you a job"
and is told that they can start by finding her a job.   Sioned is not optimistic;  “I can see it now – ‘I was going to give you three years in prison, but as you’re a barmaid . . .’
"It will show you're reliable"
Gwyneth points out that it will show she is reliable and part of the community, but Sioned is convinced that no one around here will give her job, as even her own mother will not answer the phone.   She accuses Gwyneth of kidding herself.
"OK, no problem, Eileen"
Eileen comes in, asking to put up one of the Cwm Dancing flyers in the window;  “OK, no problem!” says Gwen.
"A party, while your daughter faces prison?"
Gwyneth takes issue with this;  “Organising a party while your daughter faces prison?   Nice!   Courtney is not here – but Sioned is, and she needs you!”
"Sioned doesn't need anyone"
Eileen replies that Sioned does not need anyone, but Gwyneth goes on, “What kind of mother cares more about dancing than her daughter?
"You should be ashamed of yourself!"
“You should be ashamed of yourself!”   Eileen leaves without a further word.
Iolo parks his van
We see Iolo’s van parked at the place where Tyler met Liv;
"Someone must have seen her"
“It makes sense that she lives nearby,” says Iolo, “If she comes to the park regularly, someone must have seen her, and we’ve got photos on our phones –
"Come on, it's worth a try"
“come on, it’s worth a try.”
Sheryl arrives at the shop, against her will
Britt propels Sheryl into the shop and announces, “Colin, I’ve solved your dancing dilemma.   Sheryl is willing to be your partner,”
"You can find a better person than me"
but Sheryl is quite sure that he can find someone better than her.   He insists that they can learn together, and asks what she thinks of the cha-cha.
"Sequins, ruffles and tassels"
He has been looking online at outfits with sequins, ruffles and tassels, which will not cost much if they get them secondhand.
"We've got to look the part"
“We’ve got to look the part if we’re going to win!” he stresses, “Oh, thank you, Sheryl – I really thought I was going to be watching from the sidelines, but now I will be starring on the dance floor!”
"There's no need to go overboard, Colin"
She insists that there is no need to go overboard, as it is only a bit of fun.
Britt predicts that they will be just like Anton and Erin, and urges Eileen to put their names down.
"Right, I'd better go to the salon"
Sheryl is glad to escape to the salon, but Colin says he will organise a training schedule.
Sheryl is accosted by these two
Gwyneth and Sioned come out of the café and see Sheryl;  Sioned tells her, “I’m sure it’s obvious to you already, but I love beauty.   Hair, makeup – I don’t leave the house without mascara.
Sheryl wonders what this is leading up to
“I want a fresh start – I’m looking for a new career, and I thought I might as well pick a field I’m interested in.
"Can I work with you in the salon?"
Can I work with you in the salon?”
"I'm not looking for staff"
“Sorry, I’m not looking for staff,” is the abrupt reply, and Sioned calls this a waste of time.
"Look over there, Sioned"
Then Gwyneth draws her attention to
Britt is just going into the chippy
Britt going into the chippy;
"No way!"
“No!” snaps Sioned, “No way!   I’m not going home every night smelling of haddock and grease!”   Gwyneth tell her to look upon it as an act, by which she shows the court that Sioned Charles is reliable, and a member of the community.   Sioned marches reluctantly across the road.
Iolo and Tyler have drawn a blank
“Well, it was a long shot – I’m sorry for getting your hopes up,” apologises Iolo, as they return to the van,
"I really thought someone would have seen her"
“I really thought someone would have seen her, but you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help.”
"Hang on – that's Steve, over there!"
As they stand, despondently, they suddenly see Steve in the distance, and consider following him, as he might lead to Liv.
"This isn't Hinterland!"
Iolo is understandably reluctant to do this, reminding Tyler, “This isn’t Hinterland – we should phone the police.”   Tyler pleads that this might be the last chance to find her, and they follow.
"Go on then, Sioned!"
Eifion is in the chip shop when Sioned makes her entrance,
"I'm waiting for chicken"
and she wants to wait until he has gone, but he explains he is waiting for some chicken.   “What do you want?   I’m not a mind reader,” Britt tells her.
"I need a job
“I need a job,” Sioned says, and Eifion tries to suppress his giggles.   Britt strings her along, pointing out that she could do with a helping hand.
"I'm good with customers"
Sioned boasts that she is good with customers, and only lives down the road so she will not be late.
"You'll have to clean the staff toilet"
Britt goes on, “You’ll have to clean the fryers at the end of every day, and the staff toilets.   I pay the minimum wage.”   Sioned enquires when she can start,
"If you were the last person in Cwmderi . . ."
but then Britt adds, with a broad smile, “Sioned, if you were the last person in Cwmderi, I’d never give you a job!”
As Sioned is feeling very humiliated, Eifion comments, “Last person in Wales, I’d say!”
"But I'm almost family"
Sioned points out that Garry was her baby’s father, so she is almost family, but Britt assures her that she means nothing to the Monks now.
"You and your stupid ideas!"
She turns and storms out of the shop, snarling at Gwyneth, “You and your stupid ideas!”
"What do you think people will say, Colin?"
In the shop, Eileen is having second thoughts; she asks Colin, “What do you think people will say about me organising this night?
"Will they judge me?"
“Don’t you think they’ll judge me for organising a party while Sioned is facing prison?”
"Don't take any notice of Gwyneth!"
He warns her not to take any notice of Gwyneth, of all people, emphasising that everyone is looking forward to it.
"This is about Courtney, not Sioned"
“I thought this night was about Courtney, not Sioned.”
"But she's still my daughter"
Eileen reminds him that Sioned is still her daughter, and wonders what kind of mother turns her back on her child.   “Sioned’s not a child any more – she’s an adult –
"And she makes bad decisions"
“she makes her own decisions, and they’ve been bad ones!”
"That £200 has got my name on it!"
Then, changing the subject, he expresses his confidence that the £200 prize has got his name on it.
"You got me to make a fool of myself!"
Sioned is sitting disconsolately on the seat near the alley, so Gwyneth brings across two coffees from the café;  “You got me to make a fool of myself!” Sioned snarls, “No-one’s going to give me a job – and you could keep your ideas!   Even if you are right, I can find a job myself –
"You can keep your coffee!"
“and keep your coffee, too!”   She walks back to the café flat.
They keep watch on a house . . .
Iolo and Tyler are watching a house, and Tyler suspects that Liv may be there;  he wants just one more chance to talk to her, as he cannot sit back and do nothing.
. . . and Steve is seen leaving it
Then they see Steve coming out of the house and walking away;
"We should leave it to the police!"
despite Iolo insisting that they should leave it to the police, Tyler seizes the opportunity and rushes across the road.
Tyler bangs on the door . . .
After knocking on the door and receiving no reply, they hear the sound of a baby crying inside.
. . . and peers through the letterbox
Tyler is adamant that there is no time to lose, so he forces the rather insecure door open.
The house is in a terrible mess . . .
The house is in disarray,
. . . but Greta is there . . .
but they find Greta,
. . . looking quite happy
lying in her cot.
