5 October 2017

"We have all this problem with DJ"
At APD, Dai says that they can sort out DJ after they have sorted out the court case;
"Now, about this envelope"
“Now, about this envelope,” he begins, and Diane is furious that he is still considering a bribe to the chairman of the magistrates.
Dai has a cunning plan
He argues that it is the only way forward, but she is sure that someone will see him.
"How about my bathroom?"
Then Gethin comes in, and assumes that now the funeral is over, they can move on with his bathroom.    Dai assures him that it arrived yesterday,
"Ffion's going bonkers"
which is a relief to Gethin, as he tells them, “Ffion’s going bonkers.”
"We'll send Jason round"
They will send Jason round to Cysgod y Glyn.
"What do you want, Dai – I'm busy!"
Then Mark arrives, having been summoned by Dai;  “I’m the bearer of bad news,” Dai announces,
"I want all the money back!"
“You know the money you owe me for the attic extension I did for you?   Well, I want it all back by the end of the week!”
"You know I can't do that!"
Mark replies that it is impossible, but then Dai reveals the good news;
"But there is a way out of this pickle"
“There is a way out of this pickle for you.”
Kelly manages a whole sentence, in impeccable Welsh!
In the café, Kelly is giving Ed some coaching for his job interview, and he is amused by her posh Welsh.   When Sioned comes in,
"Don't forget the bail conditions"
Kelly hopes she is going straight upstairs, reminding her of the bail conditions,
"I quite like this bail nonsense"
and tells Ed that she quite likes this bail nonsense.
Debbie sees Vicky across the road
Debbie sees Vicky sitting on the bench across the road, and goes across to talk to her.
"I didn't sleep much last night"
“You look tired,” she says, and Vicky admits she did not sleep much last night as Nicky is teething, but she rejects her mother’s advice.
"We're managing fine, thanks!"
“We’re managing fine, thanks – and even if we weren’t, we wouldn’t turn to you!” she says, and walks off.
"Let's get this straight . . ."
Mark summarises the situation;  “Let’s get this straight now –
". . . I give it to a bloke I don't know in a remote lay-by?"
“you want me to give that envelope to a bloke I don’t know in a remote lay-by?”    Dai informs him that it is perfectly kosher.   “If it were kosher, there would be a stamp on it!” Mark replies.
"Do you want to clear your debt, or what?"
“Now, do you want to clear your debt to APD or not?” Dai demands, “Every penny, once and for all – it’s a lot of money!”
Mark deliberates for a moment . . .
Then he threatens to find someone else to do it, but he will want Mark to clear his debt by tomorrow.   “I want an answer – it must be done by two o’clock today!”
. . . and finally agrees to do it . . .
Mark finally agrees, places it in his bag and leaves,
. . . while Diane is very disapproving
with Diane looking very disapproving.
Ed waits for one of these mythical buses
Ed is waiting at the bus stop when Sioned notices him and comes across the road;
"Don't worry, I won't come too close"
“Don’t worry, I won’t come too close,” she says, “I wanted to wish you well for the interview.”
"It must be a nice feeling"
He tells her that it is just a warehouse job, but she replies that he is moving on, and that it must be a nice feeling.
"It's a new start"
He agrees that it is a new start.
Sioned feels as if her life has stopped, and she will have a record;
"I wonder what my punishment will be"
she dreads what her punishment will be.   Ed points out that it could be a new start for her too – if she is sent on those counselling sessions, she can get her life back on track.
He still harbours doubts about Sioned
As she walks away, Ed looks at her suspiciously.
Vicky has some Calpol for Nicky
At Y Felin, Vicky comes in, and gets some Calpol from her bag;  then Nicky starts crying upstairs.
"I took Iolo to the airport"
Siôn comes downstairs, talking to Tyler on the phone;  apparently he has dropped off Iolo at the airport and has a lot of work to do.
"I'll have more peace, looking after Greta"
“I might as well come over – I’ll have more peace taking care of Greta.   See you in ten minutes.”
"Sorry about this, Siôn!"
Mathew comes down to fetch the medicine, as Nicky will not stop screaming, and he apologises to Siôn,
"I'm going to find some peace and quiet"
who replies that he will get some peace and quiet looking after Greta.
Vicky is exhausted
Vicky looks absolutely shattered.
"What's up, Mrs Grumpy?"
Gwyneth, looking very pleased with herself, finds Sioned in the Deri.   “What’s up, Mrs Grumpy?” she asks, and is told that Sioned bumped into Ed, who told her that counselling sessions would help her to move on.
"Is it worth putting pressure on Ed?"
“Do you think it’s worth putting pressure on Ed to change his story?” she enquires,
"The police might think you forced him"
but Gwyneth points out the police might think she forced him to do so,
"This is what you need"
then suggests that she has just what Sioned needs, and shows her an app on her phone.
Debbie knows that something is wrong
Mark comes into the café for a strong coffee;  Debbie can see from his expression that something is up.   “You haven’t been putting money on the horses again, have you?” she demands.
"I have a chance to clear the debt with APD"
He replies that the odds are very high on this one, and that he has the chance to clear the debt with APD.
"Dai wants me to give this to some bloke"
“Dai wants me to give this to some bloke in a layby,” he tells her, and shows her the envelope, which has inexplicably not been sealed.   “He wouldn’t tell me what it was, but APD’s court case is today, isn’t it?”
"There's thousands in there!"
Debbie takes a look inside and gasps;  he tells her that it is none of their business.
"Keep the money – and say the plan failed"
“It will be if you get caught – you’ll be back in prison!” she warns, “You could always keep the money and say the plan failed.”   Mark stresses that he wants to clear the debt, not to fleece them.
"You ought to get some sleep, Vicky"
Mathew advises Vicky that she should get some sleep, but she wants to have some fun, and is fed up with their boring lives.
She is tired of the constant worry
“You know what I mean – we’re constantly worrying.   I want us to have a laugh, and just focus on the two of us.”   He says that he would love to take her out if he had the cash.
She puts on some loud music . . .
She plugs her phone into the stereo system and plays dance music;
. . . and encourages Mathew to dance with her
she urges Mathew to dance with her, and he does so, reluctantly.
Debbie is furious with Dai
In the café kitchen, Debbie is outraged at Dai putting Mark in this position;
"He's just keeping his hands clean"
he appreciates it is so that Dai can keep his hands clean, but Debbie calls Dai stupid to expect this to work.   “Anything could happen – I’m surprised that Diane is involved – she’s a councillor.”
"Wiping out the debt is a wonderful offer"
On the other hand, Mark points out that it is a wonderful offer, to wipe out the debt:  “Imagine not having that pressure every month – we could save the money for Ricky’s education.”
She insists that it is not worth the risk, demanding whether Ricky would prefer money for university or his father back in prison.
"It's time we taught that swindler a lesson!"
“Dai Ashurst has been playing games for too long – he uses you as an errand service, and gets me to try and bribe Tony.   It’s time we taught that swindler a lesson!”
Sioned is being given a facial . . .
It appears that Gwyneth’s plan is to give Sioned a facial, in order to relax her, but then takes photos on her phone.
. . . but objects to being photographed like this
“Don’t worry – I have to delete them in case the salon sees the stuff.”
"You haven't stolen it?"
Sioned is surprised that she has stolen it, reminding her that she has only moved into the flat.
Gwyneth has kept Sheryl out of the loop
Gwyneth explains that this is nothing to do with Sheryl – she phoned Erin Medi and arranged to rent it without her knowing.   Sioned wonders why she has arranged all this, and what she expects to get out of it.
Gwyneth is going to ply Sioned with alcohol
Gwyneth simply replies that she deserves to be pampered, and opens a bottle of wine.
"Jason never turned up!"
Gethin is back at APD, complaining that the fittings were delivered, but there was no sign of Jason.   “Sorry, but I’ve put you down in the book for next Wednesday,” Diane tells him.
Diane is eager to get rid of him
Gethin stresses that this is not acceptable, but she hustles him out of the door.
"A fine of £30,000!"
Then Dai hurries in through the back door, and shouts, “A fine of £30,000!
Diane does not look too pleased about this
“And a warning from the chairman that we were lucky not to go to prison!
"Mark Jones didn't turn up with the money!"
“I’ve just been on the phone to Vernon, and Mark Jones didn’t turn up with the money!”
"I fixed your car the other day"
In the Deri, Gethin is on the phone, speaking to someone whose car he fixed the other day.   “I’m looking for a builder who can finish a bathroom job for me, at short notice.
"Yes, this weekend would be great!"
“Yes, this weekend would be great!”
"Well, can I order the fizz?"
Ed walks in and sits down with Kelly;  “Well, can I order the fizz?” she asks.
"I didn't get the job . . ."
With a smile on his face, he admits that he did not get the job;  they thought that he would be wasted in a warehouse,
". . . they want me to work in the shop"
and they want him back for a second interview next week to work in retail in the shop.
“That’s fantastic!” Kelly squeals, then he tells her
She is not so ecstatic about this bit
he also had a chat with Sioned this morning, and thinks that it is going to turn out to be OK.
"This drink is going to my head"
Sioned confesses that the drink is going to her head;  “Let’s hope the counselling wont mean you have to stop drinking,” says Gwyneth, “They we want you to change your ways – teach you to be a boring angel.”
"They won't change me!"
Sioned insists that they will not change her,
"And now Sian drives like a snail"
but Gwyneth recalls that when Sian from Cwrtmynach was caught speeding, she went on a course and now she drives like a snail.
"You could always plead not guilty"
“You could always plead not guilty.”
She has an agreement with Ed
Sioned explains she has an agreement with Ed;  “If I plead not guilty, he’ll tell the police that I raped him.”
"He's bluffing!"
Gwyneth describes this as a bluff, adding that no-one would believe him now, anyway, as he did not say that from the start.   “It would sound as if he made it up because you have pleaded not guilty,” and Sioned looks uncertain.
Vicky is very energetic for someone who is exhausted
As Vicky and Mathew dance, rather wildly, telling each other, rather illogically, that their situation will get better,
Watch that ornament just by Mathew's left hand
she backs him into the dresser, and an ornament falls to the floor, much to his dismay.
"I want my money back!"
Dai bursts into Maes-y-Deri, demanding the return of his money;
"Money?   What money?"
Mark pretends that he does not know what Dai is talking about.
"Money that would have saved me a huge fine!"
“That money I gave you in a brown envelope!” Dai rages, “Money that you were supposed to give to that man in the layby!   “Money that would have saved me a huge fine!   Where’s my £5,000?”
Mark produces the envelope and hands it to him, explaining that he came to his senses.   Dai shouts, “Your lack of sense has cost me a £30,000 fine!
"I want that debt paid by tomorrow!"
“Right, you know that debt you owe me?   I want it repaid.   I want the money by tomorrow morning, do you hear?”
"Mark doesn't owe you anything!"
A voice behind him announces, “Mark doesn’t owe you anything!”
Debbie has the incriminating evidence
as Debbie discloses that she has been recording the whole conversation on her mobile phone.   “If you try to get more money out of Mark, we’ll take this to the police, is that clear?
"I think you'd better leave"
“If you don’t have anything else to say, I think you’d better leave.”
"You haven't heard the last of this!"
Snarling that Mark has not heard the last of this, Dai scuttles away
Sioned concludes that it would be too much of a risk, but Gwyneth argues that the risk is worth it,
"You could get away with it"
as she could get away with it, but if she pleads guilty, she will have a record.
"They will think I'm bullying Ed again!"
“Imagine what everyone will say – that I’m bullying Ed again!” Sioned says,
"But he has done much worse than you"
but is told to bear in mind all that he has done;  attacking Gwyneth, murdering Dewi, and sleeping with Sioned’s sister before the wedding.
“He deserves punishment, not you – what you did is nothing in comparison!” insists Gwyneth,
"He made you believe you're a wicked person"
“And he’s twisted everything, to make you believe you’re a wicked person!”
"But I won't be welcome in Cwmderi any more"
After some thought, Sioned says, “If I plead not guilty, I’ll lose everything – I won’t be welcome in Cwmderi any more,” but Gwyneth unctuously professes that she will always be here for Sioned.
"A 'get-out-of-jail-free' card"
She continues, “Think about it – a record and counselling sessions, or risk everything for a get-out-of-jail-free’ card?”
"If you put it like that – not guilty it is!"
Sioned replies that if she puts it like that, there is only one choice – to plead not guilty.
