| Sioned strides out of the café |
Once again, Sioned walks across the road from the café;
| Ed ignores her . . . |
she sees Ed coming out of the shop with a pint of milk,
| . . . but she watches him |
and watches as he goes back to number 10.
| "Your breakfast is ready, Ed" |
Kelly has made breakfast for him, but he protests that he could have made his own;
| "The eggs are perfect!" |
“Not as good as this – the eggs are perfect!” she tells him, “Do you want coffee?”
| "Stop trying to please me, Kelly!" |
He urges her to stop this trying to please him, but she replies that she is helping him. “Like you did with the graffiti on the shop wall, is it?” he snarls, “I don’t want you to do things for me – you’re making me feel weak.
| "I have to stand up for myself" |
“I have to stand up for myself!” Praising him for that attitude,
| "Enjoy your breakfast" |
she leaves for the café, telling him to enjoy his breakfast.
| "Kelly, I want a word with you" |
Sioned is waiting outside, and wants a word with Kelly, who tries to ignore her; “Things can’t carry on like this,” Sioned says, “I’ve been thinking a lot about the graffiti, and I think you did it!
| "Just admit what you've done" |
“All I want is for you to admit it what you’ve done – then we can all move on.”
Kelly is surprised that she thinks it is as simple as that; “Not everyone can forget as quickly as you,” but Sioned insists that she is trying to forgive her.
| Gwyneth is keeping an eye on them |
Gwyneth watches as she follows Kelly across the road to the café,
| "All right – it was me!" |
where Kelly tells her, “All right, it was me! I did it because it is exactly what you deserve.”
| "There's only one bitch in Cwmderi!" |
Sioned furiously replies, “There’s only one bitch in Cwmderi – and it’s you!” Gwyneth tries to stop her, but Sioned is now in her stride; “Who does she think she is, spreading lies about people?”
Kelly reminds her, “I know the truth, and everyone will before long.” Sioned threatens that she is going to pay for this,
| "You're going to prison for ages!" |
but Kelly points out, “You’re going to prison for ages – good riddance!”
| "You haven't touched any food" |
Debbie tells Mark that the washing is on the line, and that he is not allowed to bring it in; she finds he has not touched his food,
| "I can't face anything" |
and he says that he does not want anything. “Food poisoning doesn’t usually last more than a few days –
| "I hope the café's not responsible" |
“I hope the café isn’t responsible for this illness,” she says. He thinks that it is more than a coincidence, with Anita also being ill after eating there last week. He asks Debbie if her co-workers are as careful as she is. She leaves for the café.
| Colin startes the video . . . |
Colin is watching an instructional video on the laptop,
| . . . and follows the instructions . . . |
and following the dance moves;
| . . . until stumbling over the sofa |
he manages quite well until falling over the sofa. He calls for Britt to come and act as his partner,
| "No, Colin, I'm not dancing" |
but she will not do any such thing.
| He has to ring Sheryl instead |
“I have no choice then, I shall have to phone Sheryl,” he tells her.
| She is not pleased to hear from him |
Sheryl is in her dressing gown, and minus her wig when the phone rings; she is not pleased to see that it is Colin. He asks when she is free to practice today, but she says she is just on the way to have a bath. He demands if she knows how important this is to him, whereas she only regards it as a bit of fun.
| He demands that Sheryl makes an effort |
“I want to win – and I expect my partner to make a similar effort!” he exclaims,
| "She wants to talk to you" |
so she asks to speak to Britt. Sheryl tells her that she wants to pull out of this competition, and wants her to tell Colin.
| Sheryl wants to stop this dancing business |
“Just explain that he is far too keen!”
| Britt does not pass on the message |
Britt readily agrees to this, but in actual fact tells Colin that Sheryl wants him to go over now, and to make sure she does not let him down.
| No, unfortunately she is not trying to suffocate Sioned |
Gwyneth is practising her Reiki on Sioned, but it does not appear to be having much effect.
| Sioned does not like things that annoy her |
“This is not working,” moans Sioned, “Kelly has annoyed me!” Gwyneth urges her to ignore it as she will get a chance for revenge.
| "Just wait until you get a chance" |
All Sioned has to do is to wait until Kelly finds herself in a mess, and then she can kick her when she is down. Sioned decides to go to the Deri for a proper coffee.
| The café customers are staying away in droves |
In the deserted café, Kelly is looking worried;
| "I wanted to take him to A&E" |
“I wanted to take him to A&E, but Mark didn’t want a fuss,” Debbie tells her, “Anita’s the same – with the food she ate here.”
| "You can't be 100% sure" |
Kelly points out that she cannot be 100% sure that it was here, and Debbie suspects that she knows something,
| "You were here on Friday" |
as she was working on Friday. “Food poisoning could be serious for Mark, because of his kidney.”
| "I left the fridge door open" |
This makes Kelly feel worse so she rushes back into the café and admits, “I left the fridge door open – I chucked out the ham,” and then she realises that Sioned and Gwyneth are listening. “I thought everything else would be OK.”
Debbie shouts at her, “You should have thrown the lot away – you could have killed Mark!”
| Just what this pair wanted to hear |
Sioned and Gwyneth look at each other with broad smiles,
| Kelly is summarily dismissed |
as Debbie exclaims, “It’s too late to be sorry – you’re sacked! You can’t work here any more – get out!” Their audience look even more jubilant as they leave the café.
| Colin is thinking about a tattoo |
Outside, Colin asks Gwyneth if she still does tattoos; “They’re trendy – and maybe it would impress the Cwm Dancing judges.
| "I've got a body that's worth seeing" |
“On my chest, maybe – I’ve got a body that’s worth seeing, especially since I started dancing. I could have something like a butterfly,
| "Dance like a butterfly" |
as Muhammed Ali said, ‘dance like a butterfly’!” Gwyneth points out that it was ‘float like a butterfly’.
| "Debbie sacked me!" |
Kelly arrives home and informs Ed that she has been sacked;
| She explains to Ed what she did |
“I left the fridge door open on Thursday night. I didn’t realise until the following morning. I didn’t tell Debbie, so we’ve been using the food – and people have had food poisoning, including Auntie Anita.
| "I can't do anything right!" |
“I let you down last week and now this – I can’t do anything right!
| "It was so humiliating" |
“It was so humiliating – in front of Sioned and Gwyneth as well. But it’s exactly what I deserve, isn’t it?”
Sheryl has just returned from her bath when Colin bangs on the door;
| Sheryl has an unwelcome visitor |
“I’ve got something to show you – can I come in?
| "I'm so glad you're showing commitment!" |
Britt told me you wanted me to come over – I’m so glad you’re showing commitment!”
| "I'm not dressed yet, Colin" |
She protests that she is not dressed yet, but he takes no notice, instead showing her a dance sequence on the laptop;
| "If we managed to do that routine . . ." |
“If we managed to do that routine, nobody would have a hope of beating us.”
| "You didn't get the message, did you?" |
Sheryl realises that Britt has not passed on her message, and tells Colin she does not want to take part in the competition at all; it is a lot more work than she thought, as he wants to practise all the time.
| "I want to win!" |
Colin is adamant; “I want us to be perfect – I want to win!” She tries to discourage him, saying that there will be hardly anyone in the audience.
| "The most important performance of my life!" |
He replies that this will be the most important performance of his life; “Because, at the end of the dance,
| "I'm going to ask Britt to marry me!" |
“I’m going to ask Britt to marry me.”
| Sheryl is astonished |
This comes as something of a shock to Sheryl.
| Ed pleads on Kelly's behalf . . . |
Ed comes into the café, on Kelly’s behalf; “Please give her job back to her.”
| . . . but Debbie is not inclined to listen |
Debbie replies that she cannot have irresponsible staff, who lie to her and let her serve food that was not fit for customers.
| "Take a look at this" |
She shows him a website, presumably a Welsh language version of Trip Advisor,
| Uncomplimentary reviews of Caffi Meic |
where people are saying they were ill after eating here.
| Gwen arrives to look after the café |
She has called Gwen in, to cover while she goes to check up on Mark.
| Here is the source of some of the reviews |
Meanwhile, in the Deri, Sioned and Gwyneth are gleefully looking at their phones, reading about,
| "Kelly Evans has been sacked from Caffi Meic" |
“The latest on the food poisoning in Cwmderi – Kelly Evans has been sacked from Caffi Meic.
| "I said you would get your revenge" |
I said you would get a chance for revenge,” Gwyneth gloats, and composes a further entry about the mishap.
“Poor Kelly – she’s lost her job and she’s getting abused online!” laughs Sioned, then asks Gwyneth for a favour.
| "Would you be a character witness for me?" |
“Would you be a character witness for me in court?”
| "I'm hardly a pillar of the community!" |
Gwyneth replies that she is not exactly a pillar of the community, and demands who is going to believe someone with her record. However, she realises that Sioned must be desperate, and agrees,
| "Thank you, Gwyneth" |
much to Sioned’s relief.
| "Most people think I'm a fool" |
Colin confesses, “I know most people think I’m a fool, but I want to show Britt that I can do something right for once.”
| "You're a nice bloke, Colin" |
Sheryl tells him that he is a nice bloke, and that Britt is lucky to have him.
| "Then I shall go down on one knee" |
He explains that his idea was that they should dance brilliantly, and then he would go down on one knee and ask Britt to marry him in front of everyone.
| "She refused, outside the chip shop" |
“I asked her once before, outside the chip shop, but it went pear-shaped and she refused.”
| "Is it a good idea to do it in public?" |
Sheryl wonders if it is a good idea to do it in public this time, but he insists that he wants to do it right so that Britt feels proud of him, and will want to be his wife.
| "Don't let me down, Sheryl" |
“Don’t let me down, Sheryl,” he pleads.
| She draws the line at Colin embracing her |
She replies that he is not giving her much choice, and faced with him hugging her, she decides they had better get on with practising.
| Ed is still on his crusade |
Ed goes to Maes-y-Deri, wanting to check that Kelly was actually responsible. Mark comes downstairs, asking what he wants,
| "Or rather, lack of a kidney" |
explaining that it affects him more because of his kidney – or rather, lack of a kidney.
“I ate a Bacon Sandwich at the café on Friday and it tasted dodgy,” says Mark, but Ed wonders if it was something else he ate.
| "If you sack Kelly, it will look suspicious" |
Then he points out, “If you sack Kelly, it will look suspicious – it won’t take people long to work out the café was responsible, and they’ll stay away.
| "Your business could collapse overnight" |
“Your business could collapse overnight.”
| This makes Mark and Debbie think |
This makes Debbie think, and Ed leaves the house.
| "You should keep it quiet for now" |
Colin is overjoyed that Sheryl is going to dance with him, but she wants him to keep it quiet for now, especially if he wants to keep it a surprise.
| "This dancing is very tiring" |
Colin tells Britt that he is tired now, and Sheryl adds that they have a lot of work to do; she has Thursday afternoon off so could have another rehearsal then.
| "You will be very happy with his performance" |
She assures Britt that she will be very happy with his performance.
| What – not another new barmaid in the Deri? |
Debbie sees Kelly going into the Deri to ask the new barmaid if they have any shifts there, but is disappointed.
| "Nobody is going to give you a job!" |
Gwyneth takes great delight in taunting her; “No-one is going to give you a job in a place that prepares food!”
| "Oh – you've been writing the comments" |
Kelly realises that Gwyneth has been writing the horrible comments about her, but is told that accusations like that are dangerous.
| But then, Debbie exonerates Kelly . . . |
However, Debbie walks in and assures Kelly, “You haven’t done anything wrong – you can have your job back!” This causes some serious disappointment to Sioned and Gwyneth. “There’s no proof that people got food poisoning from the café,” Debbie continues, “So I don’t think you did anything wrong.”
| . . . which makes Sioned very unhappy |
As Kelly’s two opponents slink away, dejected,
| "It won't happen again, Debs" |
Debbie whispers, “You should thank Ed for sticking up for you.”
| Ed reads the slanderous comments |
At number 10, Ed is also looking at the derogatory comments posted about the café, when Kelly comes in
| "I've got my job back!" |
and announces that she has her job back. She thanks Ed for his intervention,
| "I didn't do anything" |
but he replies that he did nothing.
| "You're a good mate, Ed Charles" |
“You’re a good mate,
| "I'll let you fight your own battles" |
“and I promise to let you fight your own battles from now on – right?” she says.
| "They're going to have a visit from the Food Standards Agency" |
Back in the Deri, Sioned is on her phone; “The state of the place has been a concern locally for a while,” she alleges, then informs Gwyneth that the café will receive a visit from the Food Standards Agency. They are looking forward to seeing Debbie’s and Kelly’s faces when their visitors turn up.
| "Even if it means stretching the truth a bit" |
Sioned says she is grateful for Gwyneth agreeing to be a character witness, but she needs to ask one more favour. “I want you to give a good impression of me in court – even if that means stretching the truth a bit.”
| "What – lying under oath?" |
Gwyneth is not happy about lying under oath, but Sioned insists that it is no big deal;
| "I want you to say you saw Ed hitting me" |
“I want you to say that you saw Ed abusing me, hitting me. I will let you dwell on that thought – I know you won’t let me down.”
| Gwyneth looks as if she is losing enthusiasm |
Gwyneth does not like the sound of this one bit.
