. . . and sees that people have been trying contact her
It is breakfast time at Maes-y-Deri,
and Vicky wants Non to shift, so she can give Nicky his breakfast. Mark comments, “That charm school was worth it!”
Non has been studying a book, and Vicky wonders whether it is ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. Non explains that it is about Gruffydd ap Llywelyn, the 11th century Welsh prince. Vicky shows no interest whatsoever,
and hopes that Non is being paid loads to read stuff like that.

"I couldn't go through with it!"

"I'm so scared, Mam!"
Eileen, as usual, is taken in by this charade, and wants Sioned to come and stay with her.
Then Gwyneth volunteers to stay in the flat with her,
but Sioned protests, “I want to be by myself – especially if I’m going to be with a lot of people soon.”

"I'll stay here with you"

Gwyneth insists that if she stays here, Sioned will not even know she is here, unless she wants some company or to talk.
Eileen will go and run a bath for Sioned, and also will check the cupboards to make sure there are no more pills.
Gwyneth assures Sioned that everything will be all right – she will make sure of that.

"Reverse psychology always works"
![]() |
"But what if it hadn't worked?"
Gwyneth tells Sioned that they need some bread and other things, so she will pop out to the shop.
“I hate being pathetic and weak,” Sioned whines,
but Gwyneth urges her not to think like that; she understands what Sioned is going through.

“I’ve never had such a good friend in my life,” Sioned says,
before leaning forward and ‘spontaneously’ kissing Gwyneth. Then she alleges she is sorry and should not have done that.
Gwyneth appreciates that it is a stressful time — and someone can act impulsively, but Sioned replies that it may not have been impulsive.

"I don't want to make trouble"
Vicky says she is the one who should be apologising, and urges Non to stop being so nice;
“I’ve been horrible – maybe I’m a bit jealous.” Non cannot understand why Vicky should be jealous of her,
and the reply is “You’re brainy, and have a fantastic career ahead of you.”

![]() |
"You can't – it's too risky!"
“They have no proof that you abused Ed – it’s his word against yours – I will be safe,” Gwyneth says,
“I’m going to do this – you can’t stop me! I’ll go home to fetch some stuff for a few nights – I won’t be long.”
Sioned tries to manufacture a sincere smile.
