7 November 2017

A mystery figure . . .
A gloved hand is seen, posting a leaflet through a letterbox;
. . . posts a defamatory leaflet through a door
it lands on the doormat.
"You'll get over Chester"
Dai reprimands Hannah for not eating her breakfast;  “I know it seems like the end of the world right now, but you’ll get over Chester.”
"Perhaps he doesn't really want to split up"
She replies that it seems really weird – perhaps it was a mistake, and he does not really want to split up.
“When was the last time you saw him?” Dai asks, “Have you talked to him since Friday?
Dai is not optimistic about the outcome
That doesn’t bode well.   Stop playing with that muesli, and listen to Uncle David – if Chester’s decided to finish with you, don’t worry.
"You'll find someone else"
“You’re both young enough to find someone else.
"You don't think he's found someone else?"
Chester’s probably found someone else already – you’re better off without him!
"He's half Monk, half Gog!"
He’s a mongrel – half Monk, half North Walian – a lethal mix!”   Hannah looks very concerned as he tucks into his breakfast roll.
In amongst the post . . .
Tyler collects the post from the doormat, and is outraged to see one of the items;
. . . Tyler finds a poison pen letter
he reads, “It is unacceptable to allow two perverted men to adopt an innocent little girl.   Who knows what kind of immoral behaviour the child will experience?”
He cannot see the perpetrator
He looks out of the front door, but of course cannot see anyone,
"It's enough to make a person sick!"
as Iolo reads further, “It’s enough to make a person sick,” he says, and wonders who would do this.
Sioned finds Gwyneth in a bad mood
Sioned finds Gwyneth in the café, and discovers that she is not very communicative;  Gwyneth says that she does not like two-faced people, people who are lovely one day and then ignore your calls and texts.
"You were horrible to me in the Deri"
“You were horrible to me in the Deri on Friday!”
"I didn't mean to upset you!"
Of course Sioned protests that she did not mean to upset Gwyneth,
"Let's go upstairs and talk about it"
and suggests they go up to the flat to talk about it.
They debate about who it might be
Tyler wonders if it is someone who lives in the village;  “I want to know who’s responsible,” he insists, and Iolo points out that it is someone who is a coward, who will not say it to their faces.
"How about Gwyneth?"
Tyler asks, “Gwyneth?   We argued last week.”
Iolo points out that she is bisexual herself, and that it cannot be Sioned, with the court case coming up.   “She’s a lot of things, but she’s not homophobic,”
Iolo casts doubt on Dai's Welsh language prowess
and when Tyler suggests Dai, Iolo laughs, “Can you see Dai using the word ‘perverted’?”
"That's the sort of thing Megan would say"
Then Tyler has what he thinks is inspiration;  “Megan – that’s the type of thing she’d say, and she’s done it to Sheryl before.   She said it was a shame that Greta does not have a mother – she’s not going to get away with this!”   He puts on his coat and hurries out of the house.
Jim considers it his duty to protect the fridge
In the business units, Jim is holding forth about people taking advantage of the community fridge,
"Could you try to be a little less angry?"
but Siôn entreats him to try and be a little less angry with everyone.   “If people take the Mick, I’m not scared to tell them,” responds Jim;  Siôn stresses that the fridge is supposed to be a generous and altruistic idea.
This is Jim being less angry
Megan comes in, feeling very happy as she has just been speaking to Carl,
"The vestry will be ready for Friday"
who promised her the vestry will be ready by Friday night.   Jim tells her that Eileen will be pleased, as she has been very anxious about it.   They decide to go and have a look at the progress right now.
"All we need now is for the celeb to confirm"
As they walk along the street, Jim says that all they need now is confirmation from the celeb booked to judge the dancing.   Then Tyler, who has been wandering around the village, catches sight of Megan, and hurries across
"How dare you criticise people?"
“Hey, Megan!” he shouts, “How dare you criticise people?   If you have a problem with Iolo and me, just tell us to our faces!”   Megan has no idea what he is talking about,
"This disgusting nonsense!"
so he reads from the letter, “This disgusting nonsense!   ‘It’s unacceptable to allow two perverted men to adopt an innocent girl’!”
"This is nothing to do with me!"
Megan is adamant that this is nothing to do with her, but Tyler is far from convinced.   Jim demands what he has that it was Megan;
"You can't accuse people without proof!"
“Be careful – you can’t accuse people without proof!” so Tyler grabs the letter from her and storms off.
"I wouldn't do anything like that, Jim!"
They continue their journey to the vestry to check Carl’s work.
"This was on the mat . . ."
Hannah visits Chester, bringing upstairs the post which was on the Mathew
". . . and it's disgusting!"
and pronouncing it disgusting;  “This place is so small minded!”
"Have you really dumped me?"
Then she asks him, “Chester, have you really dumped me?   That stuff you said last week – you didn’t phone me all weekend, and you weren’t in school yesterday.”
"I needed some space"
He replies that he has just been busy, and thought that he should have some space.
"You've met someone else!"
“Space?   You’ve met someone else!” she concludes, but he denies this, so she continues, “What is it, then?
"We don't need space!"
We don’t need space and I don’t deserve better – no way!   What’s wrong?   I’m not leaving until you tell me!”
"I'm spectacularly stupid!"
Chester explains that his mother is in a pretty serious financial difficulties;  “I tried to help her, but I’ve made things worse because I’m stupid!   I’m spectacularly stupid – and you’re better off without me!”
"Tell me all about it"
Hannah demands to be told the details of what has happened.
"How did you persuade your mother to give evidence?"
Gwyneth asks Sioned how she persuaded her mother to give evidence, and is told that it was not easy.   Sioned is sorry for upsetting Gwyneth,
"You're the only one who will give me the time of day"
and insists that she is the only one in the village who will give her the time of day.   “The truth is, I’ve been quite low over the weekend – I haven’t spoken to anyone – so please say we’re OK.”
"You won't have any problem with the jury"
Gwyneth nods almost imperceptibly, and remarks, “I’ll say one thing, you won’t have any problem with the jury – you persuaded Eileen, and she’s used to your antics!”
Sioned is disappointed that Kelly is off the hopk
Sioned maintains that the only problem now is that the police say there is not enough evidence to charge Kelly for painting the flat.
"Kelly didn't do it, did she?"
Smiling, Gwyneth says, “But Kelly didn’t do it, did she?   I’m not stupid.”
"It was just a bit of fun"
Sioned said that she did it for a bit of fun, and to cause chaos.
"How about a drink at lunchtime?"
“Now that we understand each other again, how about a drink at lunchtime?” enquires Gwyneth, sternly warning Sioned not to let her down again.
"Tyler suspects Megan"
Siôn goes to number 7 and wonders would do such a thing;  Iolo tells him that Tyler is sure Megan did it,
"I had one of these"
but his father produces one of the leaflets that has been delivered to all the local houses.
"What sicko would do this?"
Iolo shouts, “What sicko would do this?   I’ve got every right to be upset – this is horrible, Dad – Tyler and I are doing something good and this is the thanks we get!
"Why can't people leave us alone?"
Why can’t people just leave us alone?”
“Chester, you were trying to help, right?” says Hannah,
"Gambling wasn't the most sensible thing to do"
“OK, gambling wasn’t the most sensible thing to do, but I understand why and I want to help.”
"Have you got £20,000 spare?"
He asks if she has £10,000 spare, but she suggests that they go to Bryntirion and she will make him some lunch.
He replies that he has work to do, and she deduces he has not yet told her everything;
"Every time I mention Bryntirion"
“Why do you act weird every time I mention Bryntirion?” she asks, and when she receives no answer, goes on, “Fine – if you can’t trust me, I’m not helping you any more!”
"That's what our family is – scavs!"
He finally relents, explaining that Dai called him a scav;  “But he’s right because that’s what our family is – scavs!”
Hannah is going to put a stop to this
“Right, what did I say about small-minded people?” demands Hannah, “I’m going to sort this out – now!”   She rushes from the flat, with Chester following her.
"I said a druggie mother wasn't ideal"
At that moment, Dai is explaining to Tyler, “All I said was it wasn’t ideal that the baby’s mother was a druggie.   I didn’t say anything about you and Iolo as a couple.
"How many more times?"
How many more times?   I wouldn’t do that behind a person’s back!”
Hannah launches her onslaught against Dai . . .
But before Dai can say anything else, Hannah rushes in and announces, “Uncle David, I want a word – you had no right to say those things about Chester!”   Tyler remarks that there is someone else getting abuse from Dai.   “He called him a scav!”
. . . and produces one of the flyers
Dai informs Tyler one more time that he did not send the letter, and then Hannah produces one of the flyers, which comes as news to Tyler.
"Look, I wouldn't send one to myself, would I?"
Dai rushes into the shop, and informs them, “As it happens, I received one of these in the post this morning too – I’m not likely to send flyers to myself am I?”   Tyler walks off in disgust.
"Are you going to tell Chester you're sorry?"
Hannah resumes what she was saying;  “Uncle David, are you going to tell Chester you’re sorry?”   He detects that the romance is back on,
"I'll move in with Chester – tonight!"
and she exclaims, “If you don’t say you’re sorry, I’m going to move in with Chester – tonight!”   This comes as somewhat of a shock to Chester.

Hannah turns up the pressure . . .
“Well, what do you say?” Hannah goes on, “I’m sure that Gran wouldn’t be happy if she came home and I wasn’t there.”
"Sorry Chester" in Dai's approximation of an Australian accent
Dai whispers, “Sorry,” to Chester,
They shake hands under instructions from Hannah
but is then required to shake hands with Chester, which he does not seem particularly happy about.
Hannah informs Chester that they are going back to Bryntirion;  “Tara, Uncle David,” she says,
Dai does not look happy at being outwitted
as Dai stands, shaking his head.
Tyler finds the flyers are all over the village
Tyler returns home and brandishes the flyer, but Siôn reveals he has one too;
They consider possible perpetrators . . .
Tyler has no idea who did it, and Iolo wonders if it is a pupil or parent who is homophobic.   Siôn suggests Gwyneth;
. . . with Siôn thinking Gwyneth is the most likely candidate
“It’s exactly what Gwyneth would do – she doesn’t care – she’s like a dog with a bone.   Once you offend her, she never forgives.”
Off Tyler rushes once again
Tyler marches out once more;  Iolo follows him, leaving Greta with his father.
Dai with his well-earned pint
In the Deri, Dai thinks that he now deserves his pint,
Iolo and Tyler locate Gwyneth
then Iolo and Tyler come in to confront Gwyneth.
"Oh, that's nasty"
She describes the flyer as nasty, and when asked outright if she sent it,
"Don't be ridiculous!"
replies, “Don’t be ridiculous – why would I send that?   I’m a bisexual parent myself.”
Tyler wonders how she knows what it says as she has not read all of it, and Iolo comes to the conclusion that they have found their culprit.   Tyler warns her never to pull such a stunt again,
Dai is eavesdropping
while Dai listens with interest from the bar.
Tyler offers an abject apology
Tyler and Iolo emerge from the Deri and see Megan nearby, talking to Jim.   “Look, Megan, I’m sorry about earlier,” Tyler apologises, but Megan just wants them to know that
Megan is glad the child is being looked after
she is pleased that they have decided to raise that poor little thing.
"We have a fair idea who did it"
Iolo adds that they have a fair idea who did it, but she is denying it.
"Hope you'll be coming on Friday"
Jim hopes they will both be coming on Friday, and Iolo thinks that his father will babysit.   Megan thanks Jim for his support today, and wishes him the best of luck for Friday.
Dai is eating his lunch . . .
Dai is eating his bar meal at the Deri when he is joined by Jim;
. . . and tell Jim the identity of the culprit
Dai tells him that at least Iolo and Tyler know who sent the flyers – Gwyneth.   “She didn’t admit it – but she wouldn’t, would she?
"Like two witches over a cauldron!"
Look at them, like two witches over a cauldron!”
Jim says that Eileen is not pleased that Gwyneth is getting close to Sioned, but Dai declares, “Birds of a feather!   You know me well enough – I don’t do things behind people’s backs.   I tell it as it is!”
Gwyneth does not like what they are saying . . .
Gwyneth is offended by this;
. . . and makes a complaint
“Did I hear you right?” she says,
"Listening to private conversations?"
and Dai accuses her of listening into private conversations.   “You said you don’t go behind people’s backs, but it’s obvious you’re talking about Sioned and me!”

"I can easily handle Dai Ashurst!"
Returning to her seat, she assures Sioned and that she can easily handle Dai Ashurst.   Sioned realises that she did send the flyers,
Gwyneth only wants to have fun and create chaos
and asks why;  “What did you say earlier about causing chaos and having fun?” Gwyneth replies,
"They deserved it after last week'
“They deserved it after last week.   Just be grateful that you apologised!”
'To chaos and fun!"
They drink a toast ‘to chaos and fun’!
