6 November 2017

"Everything OK, Gaynor?"
Dani meets Gaynor outside the shop, and asks if everything is OK with her.
"Have you seen Elgan around?"
Gaynor enquires if Dani has seen Elgan around, as she knows that he and Garry have become friends, but Dani has been shopping all morning.
"Do you fancy having lunch?"
“Do you fancy having lunch,” Dani suggests, “I don’t like eating alone,” and they go into the café.
"I'm surprised you're not at Bryntirion"
Britt is surprised that Chester is studying at home;  she thought he would be at Bryntirion.   He is struggling with his homework;
"I can't concentrate because of what you said"
“I can’t concentrate because of you – what you said last week about the money!”   Britt regrets saying what she did.   He wants to give her his college money, but she flatly refuses.
"Colin gave that to you for your future"
“That’s your money – Colin gave you that for your future, and I don’t want to hear another word about it.   Anyway, we’ll be OK – Garry will see sense in the end and sort everything out.”
"Garry said no, Mam!"
Chester reminds her that he said no,
"We're family – so he'll sort something out"
but she insists, “We’re family – so he’ll sort out something.”   Chester is not so sure about this.
Vicky was late at the Jobcentre . . .
Out in the street, Vicky is on the phone, pleading with the Jobcentre not to sanction her for being half an hour late;  “It wasn’t my fault – the bus was running late!”   Her plea seems to be unsuccessful,
. . . and totally ignores Ed
and when Ed asks if she is OK, she simply walks away.
The police have good news for Kelly
He goes into number 10, where Kelly is in the process of receiving good news from the police;
"I'm off the hook!"
“Not enough evidence to say I painted the witch’s flat!   So I’m off the hook – and there will be no complications in the trial!”   Ed is very relieved to hear this,
"Something for you, Ed"
then she produces something she has bought for him.
“It’s a present, obviously,” she says, and he opens the bag to find a new suit.  “It’s for you to wear at the trial – first impressions and all that.   Do you like it?”
"I can't accept it"
His response is not at all what she expected;  he replies that it is lovely but he cannot accept it,
"You should take it back"
and advises her to take it back.
"You and Elgan made a smart couple"
In the café Dani tells Gaynor that she and Elgan made a smart couple;
"Until I ruined everything"
“Until I ruined everything,” sighs Gaynor, but Dani points out that she suspected him for ages too.
“Just tell him you’re sorry again – he’ll forgive you in the end,” Dani predicts, “What have you got to lose?”
Gaynor insists on paying
Gaynor insists on paying for their lunch, and Debbie remarks in an uncomplimentary way, about Dani’s size,
"Losing that weight afterwards will be a struggle"
warning her that losing the weight afterwards will be a struggle.
"I've booked a court for tomorrow"
Outside the Deri, Garry tells Elgan that he was about to phone him;  “I’ve booked a court for 5:00pm tomorrow,”
"I'm on duty tomorrow"
but the doctor cannot play then as he is on duty and has too much on his plate.
"I hope you don't think I was interfering"
“I hope you don’t think I was interfering last week,” says Garry, “It’s just that a lot of people are happy enough to book their noses in other people’s business – but I’m not one of those.”
Seeing Dani with her bags, Elgan suggests that Garry has enough on his plate too.
"I've just seen Gaynor"
She comes over and says, “Elgan, this has nothing to do with me really, but I’ve just seen Gaynor.   Do you think you can forgive her?
"She's lovely, and she regrets upsetting you"
“She’s lovely, and she regrets upsetting you.”
Garry remarks that it demonstrates what he was saying about noses, and the doctor heads for the surgery,
"Gaynor really likes him"
while Dani tells Garry that the doctor is being silly, as Gaynor really likes him.
"You've been quiet all weekend"
Then she enquires what is wrong with him, as he has been quiet all weekend
Kelly is disappointed and confused
Kelly is just playing with her food, and says that she is really disappointed and confused;  she does not understand what the problem is.
"I don't want you spending money on me"
“I don’t want you spending money on me,” Ed explains “I can buy my own suit – you reminded me of . . . Sioned.
"Sioned used to try and control what I wore"
“She used to try and control what I wore.”
Kelly points out that she is not Sioned,
"I get knocked back because of Sioned"
adding, “You’ve done this before – I try and do something nice, and I get knocked back because of Sioned.   She doesn’t control your life any more.”
"But after the trial . . ."
He maintains that after the trial, things will be different,
"You're letting her control you now!"
but she shouts, “No, Ed!   You’re letting her control you now – as a result of what she’s done, you’ve refused a suit and upset me in the process!   I know it’s difficult to forget –
"You've been through hell with Sioned"
“I know you’ve been through hell with Sioned – and maybe I’m a bit oversensitive, but . . .
"Oh, forget it"
“Oh, forget it – I’ll take the suit back tomorrow.
"How about trying to make space in your life for other people?"
“How about trying to make space in your life for other people?   You’ll never recover this way.”
This is not what Ed intended
She marches out of the house.
"There's one bag of baby clothes missing"
Dani appears to have mislaid a bag of baby clothes, and Garry replies that he saw about twenty of them earlier.   She looks over his shoulder at the laptop and protests, “I haven’t spent so much that you need to check the accounts!”
""Don't worry – it's Britt"
He invites her to sit down;  “You know how I’ve been a bit quiet lately?   Don’t worry – it’s Britt.
"She's lost Colin's money"
“She has a bit of a problem – she’s lost Colin’s money on some Internet scam.”
"She's done what?"
Dani is shocked by this, and he goes on, “She’s tried everything to get it back, with no luck.”
Dani asks what Colin thinks of this,
"Colin doesn't know"
and is told that Colin does not know.   “What’s she going to do?” Dani demands,
"What does she always do when she has a problem?"
and he replies that it will be what she always does when she has a problem.   Dani is very forthright;
"You're not giving her any money!"
“No – you’re not giving her any money!” but he points out that she wants him to buy her share of the Deri, and that he has told her to talk to Colin.   However, he feels guilty because he cannot help.
“So you’re considering it – without talking to me first?” Dani wants to know, “We can’t afford this, Gar – forget it!”   Garry points out that Britt is family,
"I'm your wife – remember?"
but Dani exclaims, “Hello, Garry – I’m your wife, and I’m about to give birth to your child.
"You can't – end of!"
“You can’t – end of!”
Vicky's job search is not going well
In the café, Vicky is scanning the situations vacant in the Western Post, without success.   Her mother says that she can be useful here, sweeping the floor.
She notices something under a table . . .
As she does so, she discovers a bag,
. . . the missing bag of baby clothes . . .
containing baby clothes, under one of the tables.
. . . which disappears into Vicky's own capacious bag
She quickly hides it in her own bag, and at that moment, Debbie receives a phone call from Dani, asking if a bag has been left there.
"Sorry Dani, there's no bag here"
Vicky assures her that there is no bag to be seen, and Debbie reports the disappointing news to Dani.
Vicky seems inordinately eager to go
Then Vicky seems in a great hurry to leave, saying that she has to meet Mathew.
Dani checks with the taxi company
In the Deri, Dani is checking that she did not leave the bag in the taxi when Britt comes in, wanting to talk to Garry.   She is told that he is out at the moment,
"We haven't had a chat for ages, Britt"
but that Dani is due for a break, so to come upstairs.   “We haven’t had a chat for ages,” she says.
"If you ever need any help. . ."
Ed meets the doctor by the chippy, and says he will be glad when the trial is over.   Elgan tells him if he needs any help,
"Are there any tablets for stupidity?"
but Ed replies, “Are there are any tablets for stupidity?”   The doctor says that is beyond his medical ability.   Ed explains, “It’s Kelly – I’ve been unfair, too concerned about myself again.”
Elgan gives a few helpful hints
Elgan suggests flowers, wine, chocolates, an apology, and Ed concludes that it will have to be all of those;
"Good friends are too valuable to lose"
“Good friends are too valuable to lose.”
Then the doctor greets Gaynor
The doctor bears that in mind as he sees Gaynor;
"So you're not angry with me?"
she apologises, but he insists that he should be doing that, as last Friday he was not himself.   “So you’re not angry with me?” asks Gaynor, “Are we all right?”
"Why don't we have dinner together some time?"
He assures her that they are, and suggests, “Why don’t we have dinner together some time, in the Deri?”
This cheers up Gaynor considerably
She agrees quite readily, and they will meet on Wednesday about seven o’clock.
"I'm glad I bumped into you"
“I’m glad I bumped into you,” he says as he leaves.
Up in the Deri flat, Britt recalls that she was just like Dani before she had Chester;  she is busily making tea,
"You asked Garry for much more than a cuppa"
and Dani asks her if she wants anything else.   “Garry told me you asked for much more than a cuppa – it’s not going to happen, Britt!”
"It's nothing to do with you, Dani!"
Britt replies that it is nothing to do with Dani, but she insists it is everything to do with her;
"It's terrible – but we can't help you"
“I’m Garry’s wife and I’m carrying his child.   Listen, I sympathise with you – it’s a terrible thing to happen, but we can’t help you.”
"We'll see about that when Garry comes back"
“We’ll see about that when Garry comes back,” is Britt’s reply, “We are family!”   He is just walking in as Dani emphasises that she and the baby are also family.
"Dani is poking her nose into our business!"
Britt tells him that Dani is poking her nose into their business, and that he had no right to tell her.   “This is between me and Garry, right?”
"It's too risky – talk to Colin"
After a long pause, he tells her that he is sorry, but it is too risky;  again he advises her to talk to Colin.   “Accept what you have done, take the flak and move on – we can’t help!”
"How can you turn your back on your sister?"
Furiously demanding, “How can you turn your back on your sister?” Britt is about to go,
"We can't risk so much to keep it from Colin"
when Dani remarks that they cannot take such a risk in order to hide the truth from Colin – it is not fair –
Britt scurries away
and Britt scurries away.
When Dani wonders if she will be OK, Garry is confident,
"Oh, she'll be fine . . ."
“She’ll be fine –
". . . but I'm not sure about Colin"
“but I’m not sure about Colin!”
Chester fancies recouping the money
Chester is on an online gambling site carrying the slogan, ‘£250,000 jackpot!’ and inviting him to ‘sign up now’.   When he hears his mother coming, he closes the laptop.
Britt is incandescent with rage
“Well, that went well!” Britt storms, “Remind me to never, ever help Garry or Dani again!
"Before my head explodes!"
“I’m going for a lie down in a dark room before my head explodes!”
Chester is determined he must do this . . .
Seeing his mother’s desperation,
. . . and fills in his details
Chester signs up on the Jack Star 4000 website, and begins to fill in his details.
"What do you think?"
Kelly, who has been filling the kettle, is surprised to turn and see Ed wearing his new suit;  “Nice – it suits you,” she comments.
"You're one of the best friends anyone could have"
He is sorry for treating her very badly sometimes, and says that he does not deserve her.   “You’re one of the best friends anybody could have –
"You've been the best friend I've ever had"
“you’ve been the best friend I’ve ever had.   So will you forgive me for being such a sledge?”
"No, you're just a bit of an idiot!"
She responds that he is not a sledge, just a bit of an idiot.
"I'm lucky to have you by my side"
He adds, “You’re right – I have to move myself out of this corner that Sioned has pushed me into, and face the trial.   I’m lucky to have you by my side.”
Is there a lot of pent-up emotion smouldering here?
This is embarrassing Kelly, who says that the suit is a nice fit,
"Right, pot of tea"
and goes to make a cup of tea.
Chester is on a winning streak . . .
Chester thinks he is doing well with the game
. . . until this changes his mind . . .
until the message, ‘BUST!   Add more funds to start new game’ appears on screen.
. . . and he realises what has happened
He is distraught as Britt walks into the room, and she asks if he is OK.   “I wanted to help,” he whimpers.
"You can't use you college money"
She protests that he cannot use his college money;  “I’ve lost all Colin’s money – I don’t want to risk losing yours too!”
Too late – it has all gone!
“You don’t have to risk it – because I’ve already done that – I’ve just lost it!” he sobs, “On a gambling website – everything was going so well, but I’ve lost it!   £10,000 – it’s all gone!”
Now Britt is even more distressed
Britt dissolves in floods of tears.
