and then finds Vicky has used the last of the milk. Vicky insists that Dol can look after herself.

He then has an idea and looks in the address book for the phone number of Sandra;

he says, in English, “Hello Sandra – this is Mark Jones, Debbie’s partner – I’m looking for Dol.”

| Tyler has agreed to join the syndicate . . . |
In the café, Eifion comes in to see Tyler, who has some syndicate money for him;

Kelly is outraged. Then Eifion asks if Gethin is interested,

but is told, “I think it’s elitist and cruel! Adults should find something more constructive to do!”

Hearing this, Kelly rushes over to Gethin and asks if he has a few minutes to spare.

In Dol’s bedsit, Kath, troubled by the after-effects of last night’s wine, is looking, unsuccessfully for Dol.

Then she notices that her purse is lying on the table, empty.

“Damn it!” she exclaims.

At number 10, Kelly is proposing a group protest, but Gethin is not convinced they can make much difference.

“That’s not the attitude, Geth!” she tells him, “We can set up a CnocCnoc page, and might get a few recruits. My mates at the Western Post can do the publicity – are you in or what?”

Hannah is at the salon, and Sheryl moans that it will be strange having a new doctor who knows nothing about them.

“I hear that love is in the air,” she adds.

Hannah replies that they are going on a date tomorrow night, although Chester is unlikely to be fussed about what her hair looks like; “Hair is just a hassle, isn’t it?”

Hywel is broadcasting from the café, where he is to interview Eifion about his new enterprise, the shooting syndicate at Penrhewl.

“We hope that people from the area will join the syndicate, and it could become an annual event,” Eifion says.

Gethin and Kelly have just arrived, and Gethin declares that he is going to stop this plan. Eifion is offended at having his interview interrupted,

but Kelly monopolises the microphone to tell listeners, “This is not an interview – it’s free publicity! The audience only hears one side of the argument!”

Hywel is inclined to agree that CwmFM must be unbiased, and asks what is the basis of her opposition.

“We at ‘Friends of all Creatures’,” she begins, and is greeted with derision by Eifion. After shutting him up,

Kath leaves a message on Dol’s phone, “Sorry I didn’t tell you until last night that I showed Josh the letter. Please come back, will you – and bring my money back with you!” Then there is a knock on the door;

he turns to leave. Kath says he does not have to go straightaway.

Hywel calls at the salon and reveals that after the rather unconventional interview he paid Eifion his membership deposit.

Sheryl is displeased; “What? You joined that syndicate?” she exclaims.

Hannah adds her comment, “It’s horrible! Those trophy-hunters who put photos online are sick! I’m going to join Kelly’s and Gethin’s group!”

“We?” says Iolo, incredulously, “I don’t want anything to do with it – and hoped you didn’t!” When Tyler describes it as a bit of fun, Iolo demands, “Do you know how many problems guns have caused in the village over the years? Not to mention what happened to Britt!

Sheryl comes home and finds Hywel looking at shooting syndicates on the laptop;

She is not happy that he did not discuss it with her first, but he simply says that they have different interests.

This time it is Mark, who demands, “Why didn’t you tell us where you were?”

Kath introduces him as a friend, and Josh seems in a great hurry to leave.

“How did you know where to find me?” asks Kath, and Mark says that he guessed she might be with Dol, so he got the address from Sandra next door. Then he asks where Dol is; “She’s gone – done a runner, and taken my money with her!” replies Kath.

Mark does not believe this, and is convinced that his mother is back on the drugs; “Do you think I’m an idiot? You disappear, don’t phone, then I land here and find a dodgy bloke and you with no money!”

She insists that she is telling the truth, except that Josh is Dol’s friend, not hers. “Look, he’s not a drug dealer, if that’s what’s bothering you.

In the Deri, Tyler points out to Eifion that he has been a bit hasty and would like his money back. Eifion insists that it is not possible, but Tyler tells him, “There’s no written agreement – I want my deposit back now!”

Kelly, who has just come in, gleefully remarks, “What’s this? The band of brothers unravelling? Why don’t you compromise and have a clay pigeon shoot?”

When invited to join by Kelly, Iolo and Tyler want to stay out of it, so Kelly decides to ask Siôn, who is just finishing his pint.

She and Gethin are very dismayed when he replies, “Well, as it happens, no! It’s complicated, but like it or not, it is an ancient tradition in the countryside.”

Eifion laughs, “That was a waste of a trump card! What are you going to do now?” Kelly leaves abruptly, followed by Gethin.

Siôn calls at the salon, where Sheryl sits, looking depressed; he has come across some aromatherapy stuff of Gwyneth’s and wonders if it is any use to Sheryl.

She however is upset that Dr Roberts is leaving; “He knows my history, and knew how to help with the alopecia.” Siôn points out that the new doctor is a nice bloke,

Siôn can see that the psychology of her illness is weighing heavily upon her,
