14 April 2017

Jason is in a good mood . . .
Jason arrives home in a good mood;  “I’ve got a beautiful wife, a decent job and a baby on the way!” he says.   His mood is shattered when Sara shows him what she is looking at on the laptop;
. . . until Sara springs this ridiculous item on him
she has decided she wants a pram costing £999.
"We can't afford that sort of money!'
“There’s no way we can afford that sort of money!” he protests, but she reminds him that he can waste money on this shooting syndicate.
“Our child is going to face so many obstacles – he or she should have the best possible start!” she argues,
"A thousand pounds?"
but Jason thinks £1,000 is a step too far.
Mark is engrossed in the Western Post
Mark is reading the Western Post when Ricky comes in and detects the fraught atmosphere;
"OK, what's wrong now?"
“OK, what’s wrong now?” he asks, and Mark gets up and walks out.
"One of your Grans is missing!"
Vicky explains that Mark went to look for Ricky’s Grans yesterday – both of them – but found one was missing.
"He's not going to listen to us"
“He won’t look for her – I asked him, but he won’t.   He’s not going to listen to us,” moans Vicky.
"I know who he will listen to!"
Ricky knows who he will listen to, and leaves the house.
Sioned is 'tarting herself up' . . .
Sioned applies her lipstick, and, wearing a dress with a plunging neckline,
. . . and exhibiting her attributes
sits in front of the laptop, but finds it appears to have frozen,
The laptop appears to have seized up . . .
and will not respond to any key.
. . . and she cannot speak to Hywel
She rings Hywel’s number, but has to leave a message.
Debbie is rather sceptical about what she hears
In the café, Ricky tells his mother about the problem;  “Dad says he won’t go and search for her – the point is, they need our help!” insists Ricky.   Debbie is not sure that they know all the facts,
"I'll go, if no-one else will!"
so Ricky maintains that he will go and look for his Gran if no-one else will;  “Someone has to look after this family!” he stresses.
"All right – I'll have a word with your father"
This persuades Debbie to go and have a chat with Mark.
"I'm doing the restocking"
At APD, Jason is restocking the shelves, as he says he knows Dai hates doing it;
"What are you after, then?"
Dai is not fooled and realises that Jason wants something.
"I need to do some overtime!"
When shown a photo of the pram that Sara wants, and the price thereof, Dai explodes,
"Oh no, that wasn't good enough!"
“Blimey!   Diane and I bought you a secondhand one – it was lovely, but oh no, that wasn’t good enough!
"When I was your age . . ."
When I was your age, if I wanted something, I had to save up for it first – today, everyone wants to live on the never-never.”
Then, still muttering, Dai goes out, warning Jason that Garry will be coming in to pay for the work they have done for him.
"You didn't have to get dressed up!"
Sioned runs downstairs into the café;  Garry stops her.   “You’re trying too hard now – you didn’t have to get dressed up!
"I'll offer a higher price"
If you’re considering selling to someone else, I’ll offer a higher price!”
"I'm going to get Hywel to fix my laptop"
Sioned replies that she is not selling, and that she is going to get Hywel to fix her laptop.
Garry offers to help, but she is adamant that she wants a professional, and rushes out.
"Looks like she's back on the tablets"
At Maes-y-Deri, Debbie is wondering whether Kath is back on the tablets, when Mark discloses that he was only there five minutes, and his mother could not wait to get rid of him.   “She doesn’t want our help,” he tells her.
"She doesn't know what she wants"
“She doesn’t know what she wants,” answers Debbie, “If she’s mixing with dodgy people, she would be better off in Cwmderi – she’ll need constant care if she’s back on the pills!”
Mark backs down to all the pressure
Mark repeats that Dol was not there, but after further pressure he agrees to go back, with Vicky this time, to try and ascertain that her Gran is all right.
At APD, Jason is on the phone when Garry comes in;
Garry brings £5,000 in (laundered) cash
he hands over a brown envelope containing £5,000, for the damp course and a couple of other jobs.
Garry receives an impassioned plea from a 'damsel in distress'
Then, as Jason looks enviously at the money, Garry’s phone rings, and he agrees to go to see Sioned;  “A damsel in distress!” he tells Jason.
Now you see it, in full view on the counter . . .
The shop phone rings, and Jason puts down the money on the counter while he goes to answer it;
. . . but, one hoax phone call later . . .
there appears to be no-one on the line, so he returns to the counter,
. . . now you don't – it has completely vanished
but in ther intervening few seconds the envelope and the money have gone.
Jason searches frantically, but vainly . . .
He searches everywhere in the shop
. . . and even looks outside
and comes out to look up and down the road.
Good to see that Gwen has been granted another day off
Seeing Sara, he urges her to come into APD and points out what has happened;
"It was there – and now it's not!"
“It was there – and now it’s not!   Someone has stolen it,” he wails, “I was on the phone out the back and the door was open – someone saw their chance!
"What are we going to do?"
What are we going to do?”
"You have to tell Dai . . ."
Sara informs him that he must tell Dai, but Jason is sure that he will not believe it.   “Well, tell the police, then” advises Sara,
". . . or people will think you stole it!"
“You have to do something, or people will think you stole it!”
"Well, I've reloaded it"
Garry has reloaded the laptop and tweaked the settings;
"I've got private business to attend to"
Sioned is very anxious, as she has private business to attend to, and will not reveal the nature of this business.
"Not doing anything silly, are you?"
“Right, it should work – amateurs can be useful, you see!” comments Garry, then adds, “You’re not doing anything silly, are you?
"I'll increase the offer to £6,000!"
I’ll increase the offer to £6,000 for both businesses!”   She is insistent that she wants him to leave now.
An incoming video call
She arranges her hair as the laptop announces, “Incoming call.”
"Sioned Charles, is it?"
An older man appears on the screen;  “Sioned Charles, is it?” he enquires.
Josh arrives in his orange van
Near Dol’s bedsit an orange van pulls up and Josh gets out;
"We have to be careful what we say"
then he notices the arrival of a car, containing Mark and Vicky.   Mark advises, “Be reasonable – this is a very delicate situation – we have to be careful what we say.”
They head for Dol's bedsit
They knock on the door, while Josh is still watching.
"I'm not just a pretty face"
Sioned tells the man on the screen, “As I’ve said, I’m not just a pretty face – I have experience of running a business,
Sioned embroiders her CV – just a little
and bars in London, Singapore and Munich.   I could go on, but I don’t want to bore you.   I can assure you that I’m the one you’re looking for.”
"Right – thanks for your time"
The call is ended,
Sioned looks apprehensive
and Sioned looks unsure of herself.
"Why should I go back with you?"
Kath demands why she should go back with Mark and Vicky;
"We all want you back"
he replies, “You’re my mother – and we all want you back – Debbie, Nicky, Ricky –  you’ve got good friends at home, like Dai and Diane.”
"I can't come home – I have my reasons"
Kath is adamant;  “I appreciate you coming, but I don’t deserve this – I can’t come home with you.   I have my reasons.”   Mark tries to pick up Kath’s bag, but she snatches it from him and puts it down behind her.
"Well, now that's sorted – where's Gran?"
Vicky says, “Well, now that’s sorted – where’s Gran?”   Kath protests that she does not know, but Vicky does not believe this, suspecting she is back on the drugs.
Kath is adamant that she is not,
"It's time you came off the drugs!"
but Vicky becomes increasingly angry.   “It’s time you came off the drugs, came home with us – and helped us to find Gran!”   All this time she has been confronting Kath, who backs away, and falls over the bag,
"Aargh!"
hitting her head on a chest of drawers.   As Kath cries out in pain,
"We have to get her to the car"
Mark instructs Vicky to help get her into the car.
Jason has looked everywhere
Jason, who is still searching,
"No, it looks the same – but that's not it!"
finds a similar envelope in the top filing tray, but it is empty.
He has no choice but to ring the police
He is about to ring the police when Dai comes back in, wondering why he has not gone home.
"Did Garry drop that money off?"
“Did Garry drop that money off?” he asks,
"No, Dai!"
and Jason replies that he has not.   “Not to worry – Garry Monk is a lot of things, but he doesn’t jib out on debts,” Dai says, “Go home – and find a cheaper pram!”
Sioned sits alone
Sioned drinks alone in the Deri;
"What were you doing – dressed like that – online?"
Garry comes over and enquires, “I don’t want to interfere, but what were you doing earlier?   Dressed like that – online?”
"Really?   That's great!"
Her phone rings and she is pleased with what she hears;  “Yes – really?   That’s great – thank you.”
Kath stumbles to the car . . .
Kath is helped to the car,
. . . as Josh is still watching
while Josh is still watching;
"Where are you taking me, Stace?"
Kath mumbles, “Where are you taking me, Stace?”   Vicky deduces that she is back on the high-dosage pills, and they still have no idea where her Gran is.
Then she suddenly slumps over
Kath appears to lose consciousness
"Call an ambulance, Vicky!"
and Mark shouts to Vicky to call for an ambulance.
