24 April 2017

Here comes Sioned . . .
Sioned walks up the alley, composing a text,
. . . who is about to meet Garry
then meets Garry;
"Where are you going?"
she asks where he is going.   “To get my lunch,” he answers, and disappears into the café.   She continues with her text.
"Another two have joined the syndicate"
At Penrhewl, Eifion reports, “That’s another two today – this syndicate is going to be a success.   We have about a dozen, not counting Dai and Jason.”
"How long are you going to quarrel with them?"
In reply to Cadno’s demand about how long he will keep quarrelling with them, he tells her, “It’s not quarrelling – I just don’t want anything to do with them!”
Cadno points out that APD gave a very good price for constructing the pens, and without them there will be no syndicate.   “Just sort things out with APD!” she orders Eifion;
"I'm not going begging to Dai Ashurst"
he insists that he is not going begging to Dai Ashurst, but Cadno is equally determined, “Yes, you will!”
"Sioned has the money"
Then Eifion receives a text from Sioned, wanting to meet him in the café, as she has his money;
"I don't trust that girl at all"
“And about time, too,” comments Cadno, “You can call at APD on your way.   I’ll see you in the café later – I don’t trust that girl at all.”
Sioned goes into the café and asks Gwen for a coffee,
"Is anyone sitting here?"
then enquires of Garry, “Is anyone sitting here?”   He replies that nobody is,
"No – and nobody's going to be, either!"
and there is not going to be anyone sitting there either, so she finds a table elsewhere.
"That Eifion is very spiteful"
Also there is Anita, who is warning Kelly to be careful, as Eifion is very spiteful, as that business with the photos has proved.   Kelly snarls, “I don’t care what you say, or what he does –
Kelly is even more determined
nothing will stop me.   He has made it personal now!”
"Was it six bags of cement, Dai?"
Dai is completely ignoring Jason at APD, and will not confirm how many bags of cement are required for the order Jason is working on.
"This is childish"
“This is childish – falsely accusing someone,” says Jason, “What’s happened to ‘innocent until proven guilty’?
"Oh, yes, you haven't got any proof"
“Oh, yes, that’s the problem – you haven’t got any proof, have you?”
Eifion comes in and seems to have embroidered his news somewhat;
Now he says it is four who have joined the syndicate
“We’ve had four more who want to join the syndicate.
"I might have been a bit hasty"
“About this job – I might have been a bit hasty.”   Dai assumes that he has been comparing prices,
"You've seen how much that guy in Llanarthur charges!"
especially seeing how much that guy in Llanarthur charges.
He tells Dai that if he will build the pens, he can be an honorary member this year, but Dai wants to know what the catch is.   Eifion offers to take him for some clay pigeon shooting for practice, so Dai decides, “Count me in!   I’ll make sure that Jason builds you the Taj Mahal of the bird world!
Jason wants to come too
Jason pleads, “Can I come shooting too?”
"Until then – no way, José!"
but receives the answer that until he repays the £5,000 to APD, no, he cannot.
Josh wants to help at the farm
Cadno is about to go out when she hears a voice, “Is anyone there?”   It is Josh, who tells her, “I’m new to the area and thought you might need a bit of help around the farm.   It could do with a springclean,
"If you gave me the scrap for my efforts"
“and if you gave me the scrap for my efforts, then I’d be a happy man.”
"All right then, if you clear out the bottom shed"
Cadno agrees that if he clears out the bottom shed as well, they have a deal, but he is only to take the rusty stuff.
"Nobody believes me, Sara"
At home, Jason complains that he is still being accused,
"Concentrate on finding out who did steal it"
so Sara tells him he has to concentrate on finding out who did steal the money.   He considers that Dai should forget the matter for the sake of the the baby,
"Dai will come round in the end"
and Sara predicts that he will eventually come round.
"I expect he'll take it out of my wages!"
Jason fears that Dai will be taking it out of his wages, as he is not known for sticking to the rules.
"Bumps comes first!"
Sara insists that Dai cannot bully them, and that Bumps comes first.
"There's nothing like free publicity!"
Eifion swaggers into the café and advises Kelly, “Your latest stunt has been very handy – there’s nothing like free publicity!   Six more want to join the syndicate.
Kelly is understandably not happy
Kelly is predictably furious, and shouts as she leaves the café,
"You and your syndicate are sick!"
“Murdering innocent birds for your enjoyment!   You and your syndicate are sick!”
Eifion receives £12,500 . . .
Sioned comes downstairs and presents Eifion with an envelope;  “£12,500!” she announces,
. . . which is nowhere near enough
but Eifion is quick to point out that is not enough as he invested twice that.   “I’ve paid a lot back,” she protests,
"Well – that's business!"
“You took a risk and it didn’t work out – that’s business!”   Cadno urges him to take the money, and then they can forget about Sioned.
"No wonder no-one wants you!"
He warns her, “I don’t want anything to do with you again!   You’re the biggest mistake I ever made!   No wonder no-one wants you, the way you behave!”
After Eifion has stormed out of the café,
"I agree with him!"
Garry comes across and comments, “I agree with him!” which shocks Sioned.
Eifion, down on the farm . . .
Later, as Eifion walks though the mud at Penrhewl, he exclaims, “What the hell?” when he sees an orange van and caravan in the field.
. . . has an unauthorised intruder
He bangs on the door and Josh opens it,
"I was given a job"
advising, “I got a job from that Ponderosa woman – and where I go, so does my home!”
"Pack your bags and clear off!"
Eifion demands that he pack up and leave, asking who he thinks he is, pitching up here.
"Want to control everything, don't you?"
“You want to control everything, don’t you?” says Josh, “No good will come of that.”
Eifion makes threats
Eifion threatens that he will call out every officer between Cwmderi and Swansea, and he will be in jail before he can say ‘tinker’, but Josh remarks, “We’ll see,” and shuts the door.
"Not a lie detector!"
Dai has somehow acquired a Polygraph lie detector, but Jason is adamant that he will not be tested.
"If you're telling the truth, there's no problem, is there?"
Both Sara and Dai remind him that if he is telling the truth there will be no problem.
Someone will be round by the end of the week
At Penrhewl, Cadno is told on the phone that an officer will be round by the end of the week.
"I'll go and tow it with the tractor!"
Eifion suggests, “I’ll tow it myself, if I have to – it will be easy enough with a tractor.   He can’t just use our land as a campsite –
"You shouldn't have agreed to let him stay!"
“you shouldn’t have agreed to let him stay!”   Cadno points out that all she agreed was for him to collect the scrap.
"Don't you lecture me!"
“Don’t you lecture me,” she warns, “I ran this place on my own when you were a traffic warden.   We just have to get rid of him before his friends and brothers turn up.”
Unusual to find a Polygraph at your normal builders' merchant's . . .
Jason has been wired up to the lie detector and Dai asks a couple of control questions;  “Are you Jason Francis?” and, “Do you live in Cwmderi?”
. . . and where did Dai learn about operating it?
Then he wants Jason to lie, asking if he works in the chip shop.
"Double jumbo battered . . .?"
Jason who is already tired of this charade, replies, “Yes – what do you want, Dai - double jumbo battered . . ?”   Dai snaps that he wants a straight yes or no, and asks if Jason has lived in Australia.
"And I regret not staying there!"
“Yes, and I regret not staying there now!” is the reply.
"Did Garry Monk give you the £5,000?"
As they get to the crux of the matter, Jason is asked if Garry Monk gave him the £5,000.
"Well – yes – and no!"
“Yes – well no, to be honest – he put an envelope on the counter,“ Jason answers.
The next question – did he steal the money – gives a result which Dai was not expecting;
"Oh - it says you're telling the truth!"
“The machine says you’re telling the truth!” he says, disappointed, and decides that he is going for a pint.
"What's wrong with you, Garry?"
Sioned enters the garage office and closes the door;  she demands what is wrong with Garry.   He replies that he is busy
"I thought we were going to be mature about this"
“I thought that we were going to be mature about this,” Sioned says.
"We?   There is no 'we'!"
He turns to her and and stresses, “There is no ‘we’!   Last week was a bit of fun – I’ve forgotten about it already – you should too!”   She argues that they were friends, which he disputes, and says she does not want to lose her only friend.
"I don't want to lose Dani!"
“I don’t want to lose Dani!” he states.
“You should have thought of that before jumping into bed with me!” snarls Sioned, but he answers that it was a mistake and now he regrets it.   “You’ve fancied me for years,” she continues, “I didn’t realise you had a conscience.”
"It will not happen again!"
He assures her that he does not want to hurt Dani and that it will not happen again.
The machine knows she is lying about gherkins
In the Deri, the lie detector has been connected to Sara, and when she asserts she likes gherkins, shows it is a lie.
Jason is perturbed
Jason is concerned when he asks if she loves him more than anything else in the world, it reveals that she does not, but that is explained by her love for Bumps.
"You come a close second"
“You come a close second,” Sara adds.
Cadno and Eifion find Josh
Eifion and Cadno find Josh in the Deri, where he is accused of tricking them,
"There was no deal about parking that caravan"
as there was no deal about the caravan being parked at Penrhewl.
"You're a gyppo, are you?"
Dai turns round and exclaims, “You’re a gyppo, are you?   Your sort is not welcome here – they’re like lice – you start with one, and they soon become a plague!”
"There a nasty smell in here"
Josh makes a hurried exit, remarking that it is starting to get smelly in the pub.
"He seemed all right to me"
Jason argues that Josh seemed all right, but is warned by Eifion, “You wait until he parks outside your house!”
"I know you're not the thief . . ."
Dai admits to Jason, “I know you’re not the thief – but the money’s still missing, and it’s your fault!
". . . but APD has lost £5,000 . . ."
“APD has lost £5,000 and I want it back!   I’ve got bills coming in.   It’s about time you grew up and became more responsible!
". . . find the money!"
“Find the money!”
"I fancy a chat with Dani"
Sioned is still sitting in the garage, but informs Garry, “I’m going, because I fancy a chat with Dani – I’m sure she’d like to know what happened last week.”
"Go on then – she won't believe you!"
Garry urges her to go then, as Dani will not believe her.
"Everyone thinks you're crazy as it is"
“Everyone in the village thinks you’re crazy as it is – you’ve tried this nonsense before, with Cadno, and it didn’t work!”   Sioned points out that this time, it is true.   “You’ve cried wolf too many times!” he says.
"I've got nothing to lose, then"
Sioned concludes that she has nothing to lose in that case, but he reminds her,
"Only your last shred of self-respect"
“All you have to lose is the last shred of self-respect you’ve got – because after this the whole village will have had enough of you!”
"You'll regret this"
She insists that Garry is going to regret this,
"I don't think I will!"
but he replies, “Do you know what?   I don’t think I will!”
