Colin's joke is not appreciated
Colin jokes to Eileen that Jim has probably found a fancy woman, and is serenading her down the prom with a bag of chips.
"I wish he'd return my calls"
Eileen is not amused, but wishes Jim would return her phone calls.   “He’s gone to clear his head and reminisce about Courtney – perhaps he has turned off his phone,” suggests Colin.
Colin's father is back!
Then Colin sees someone approaching the shop door;  “He looks just like . . .” he begins, and then as the door opens, he realises it is, “. . . Dad!”
The late, lamented Ed
In the Deri, DJ has a photo of Ed,
They reminisce about him
and Sheryl remembers when that was taken;  “Hywel drove me bonkers about all the tries he scored!” she says.
"He was a top bloke!"
Kelly adds that he was a top bloke, too, and comments, “Sioned will have a shock when she sees we are honouring him!”
"Hope Sioned doesn't turn up"
Sheryl hopes that she does not turn up, and Dani reminds them that she is banned from the pub.
Sam reports on the death of Katrina
As Eileen makes tea for Sam, he relates that Katrina the snake is dead;  “The cold winter in Splott was too much for her – she was a corn snake from America, and you have to keep them warm all the time.
"I was bedridden for almost two weeks
Last winter was difficult for me, too – I was bedridden for almost two weeks, and I’ve not been right since.”
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Colin reprimands him for not mentioning it in his phone calls.
Sam sympathises about Courtney
Sam also commiserates with Eileen on the loss of Courtney;  “I can’t imagine what the last few months have been like for you and Jim – but you’ll get through it.   Jim’s lucky to have someone like you at his side.”
Mathew agrees to cover for Garry
Garry informs Mathew that he has two cars landing at the garage tomorrow, and he is supposed to be selling them at auction in Milton Keynes.   He will be driving one there on Saturday and the other on Sunday.   Mathew agrees that he will run the bar while Garry is away;  “It’s the least I can do to pay for my lodgings here.”
"I'm delivering two cars"
Dani comes downstairs and is told that Mathew is helping out while Garry delivers two cars.   “You’re not going to be away all weekend?” she complains, and he replies that he will be back on Sunday afternoon.
"You know how to land on your feet!"
When Garry leaves, Dani snarls at Mathew, “You know how to land on your feet, don’t you?”   He points out that everyone does favours for others,
"What's your favour to me?"
and she demands, “What’s your favour to me?   Keeping quiet about what happened?”
"I would never blackmail you, Dani"
He is insistent that he would never blackmail her like that.
"There's no room at the chip shop flat"
As they have a meal in the café, Colin tells his father that there is no room at the chip shop flat;  “The children are growing up, and we’re short of space as it is.”
"The tests say I have Diabetes"
Sam reveals that he is not sleeping well, going back and forth to the toilet during the night.   “I had a bit of bad news – the tests say I have Type 2 Diabetes,” he tells Colin, “They gave me tablets, but I’m not right – always tired!”
"Right, we're going to find you a bed!"
Colin assures him that he will be found a bed.
"I can't afford to pay"
Sioned marches into the garage and informs Garry that she cannot afford to pay the bill for the Bentley.   “Do you think I want to do the job, after your antics on Monday?” he demands.   She reminds him that she apologised for that,
"Well, it won't pass the MOT"
but he stresses that the car will not pass its MOT without two new tyres and some attention to the electrics.   She concludes that the car will have to stay off the road.
Garry has a suggestion;  “There is something I could do to help you – I could buy the Bentley off you,”
Sioned is resistant to his offer
but Sioned replies that he would take all the business that she and Ed had built up.   Garry had previously advised her not to give up, so she will make it work somehow – and to do that she has to keep the car.
"You're banned, remember?"
Sioned says she is going over to speak to Dani, but Garry forbids this, as she is banned from the Deri.   “I’m not going to cause trouble and upset your customers,“ she says, “I’m only going to apologise,” and marches out of the garage, as Garry tries to phone Dani.
Dani's phone buzzes away, unheeded
In the Deri, Dani’s phone buzzes, unanswered,
The photo is placed on the wall of fame
as DJ and Siôn place the photo of Ed on the pub wall, and they remember his career.
"I'm never going to see him again"
Dani rather tearfully recalls, “I’m never going to see him again, am I?   He’s never going to walk through that door again!”
Iolo acquaints Kelly with Dani's history
Iolo enlightens Kelly that Dani and Ed had a ‘thing’ a while ago, and that it was important for her as she does not fall for a lot of men.
"I didn't know about Ed"
“I knew she was choosy, but I didn’t know about Ed,” replies Kelly.   Tyler tells them that Dani has been like that since she was at school;  plenty of boys were after her, but she kept them at arm’s length.
DJ proposes a toast to Ed . . .
DJ announces, “Can we raise a glass and toast a guy who gave so much to Cwmderi and the rugby team – a good, loyal friend?”
. . . and as they raise their glasses, look who comes in
At this point, Sioned walks in and asks what they are doing.
After a stony silence . . .
Everyone turns towards her in silence,
. . . Siôn explains what is happening
then Siôn explains that they are having a small, private commemoration of Ed’s life.
"Please carry on – don't stop"
“Without me, you mean!” snarls Sioned, “Please carry on – don’t stop – that’s the last thing I want – just carry on as if I’m not here.”
DJ's memories of Ed
DJ remembers a game against Blackmill, when in the last five minutes, Ed managed to kick a penalty to win the game.   “He was a hero!   Since he stopped playing for us, we’ve been poorer as a team, and Cwmderi will be the poorer without him.”
"We should have taken more notice"
Kelly adds, “He didn’t play for the last few months – the old Ed had gone, and we should have taken more notice – tried to help him, and then we would not have been here now, grieving for a good friend.”
"Can I say how much I miss him?"
Sioned pipes up, just as Garry is just entering the Deri;  “And my husband!   Now you’ve all had a chance to speak can I say how much I miss him?”
"It's your fault he's gone!"
Dani angrily answers, “You’d better not – it’s your fault he’s gone!   You’re no better than a murderer!”   Sioned smiles, as she realises that Dani wrote the word ‘murderer’ and put in in an envelope from the garage.
"That's what you are – a murderer!"
“That’s what you are!” Dani roars, “If it weren’t for you, he’d still be here!”   Sioned says she had intended to come over to apologise, and turns to go,
"Sorry to disappoint you"
taunting them that if they expected her to cause a scene, they will be disappointed;  she invites then to continue with their private ceremony.
"Good news, Dad!"
In the chip shop flat, Colin has good news for Sam;  Gaynor has agreed to accommodate him, as long as he keeps the place tidy this time.
"You're really worried, aren't you?""
“You’re really worried about this Diabetes, aren’t you?” Colin asks, and his father admits that he has always been as healthy as a horse.   He is not used to having to slow down,
"I wonder how much time I have left"
and indeed wonders how much time he has left.
"We're all pleased to see you!"
Colin assures him, “We’re all pleased to see you – especially me!”
Still no reply from Jim
Eileen is once more trying to contact Jim by phone when Sioned comes back,
"I had some hassle at the Deri"
reporting that she has had some hassle at the Deri, and that Dani sent the note.
"And what did you do?"
Eileen is anxious about what Sioned did there,
"I just let them carry on"
and is amazed that she simply let them carry on and came back to the flat.
They toast the memory of  Ed
“We’ll have a glass of wine here in memory of Ed,” says Eileen, and they toast his memory.   Sioned is sure that everything will be all right, and that Jim will soon be back, as there is nothing as important as family.
"I shall need a lot of patience"
She admits that she is lost without Ed, adding, “Garry is right – there is a way to fight back, but I shall need a clear head and a lot of patience.”
"Fresh water will stop them going stale"
Dani has removed flowers from their vase, and Mathew recommends that they need fresh water, to stop them going stale.
"You're talking about me, aren't you?"
Dani turns to him and snaps, “You’re not talking about the flowers – you’re talking about me!”   He denies this and says he does not know what is wrong with her.
He is somewhat aggrieved by this action
In a rage, she throws the vaseful of water over him.
"Why did you send that note?"
Garry comes up to their flat and demands why Dani sent that note;
"That's what everyone is thinking!"
“It’s only what everyone is thinking!” she replies.
"This vendetta must stop now!"
He is adamant that she should not be kicking a person when they are down, and instructs her that this vendetta must stop now.   “Leave her alone – Sioned has hit rock bottom, and you’re better than this!”
By this time, Mathew has put on a clean shirt,
The flowers go into the bin
as Dani deposits the flowers in the bin.
"He shouldn't have spoken to you like that!"
He tells Dani that Garry should not have spoken to her like that,
"I'm fed up with you all!"
but she simply repeats, “I’m fed up with you all!” and walks out.
The flowers are returned to the vase . . .
Mathew retrieves the flowers and begins to arrange them in the vase;
. . . while Dani watches
Dani peers round the door.
