30 March 2017

"They want me back at work tomorrow"
Mark arrives home as Stacey is pretending to have had a call from work informing her that she is required there tomorrow;  “But Non’s coming over tomorrow!” protests Mark.
"You should take it slowly"
Stacey tells him that he should get to know her first, and they should take it slowly.
"You're getting cold feet"
“You’re getting cold feet,” Mark deduces.
Gwen is selecting flowers
In the street, Dai asks Jason what is the news from the hospital;
"Have you heard of Braxton Hicks?"
“Have you heard of Braxton Hicks?” Jason replies, “Apparently a lot of people get it, but Sara and the baby are going to be all right.”
"Make sure you tell your mother!"
Dai urges him to ring Diane and tell her this, as she is worried sick.
"What's the matter, Kath?"
Dai turns and sees Kath, sitting forlornly on the bench;  he asks what is the matter,
"I'm fine!"
and she obstinately says she is fine.   “I hope you’re not off the wagon again,” he comments, and refuses to go anywhere until she informs him what the trouble is.
Sheryl's locks are flowing in the breeze
Sheryl arrives in the back street at the end of her run, and encounters Gethin;
"Well, what do you think?"
“What do you think?” she asks, pointing at her wig.
"Er . . . well . . . very nice"
He is at a loss to know what to say.   “I don’t look that different, do I?” she demands.
Kath is still insisting there is nothing wrong;
"We can sit here all day . . ."
Dai is adamant, “We can sit here all day with you telling lies, or you can tell me what’s wrong – we’re partners, Kath!”
"Dyff's daughter turned up yesterday!"
At last she admits, “Dyff’s daughter turned up yesterday!”
"Haven't seen Stacey for ages"
Dai remarks that he has not seen Stacey for ages, but Kath explains, “No, not Stacey – Dyff had an affair years ago and had a daughter.   She turned up yesterday, wanting to get to know Mark and Stacey.   I’ve known about her for years – but I wasn’t expecting her to turn up!”
"You're coming with me, Kath!"
Dai insists that she is coming with him to APD.
"The baby is all right"
Jason arrives at Sara’s hospital room and tells her that she is looking better;  she is very relieved that the pains have now stopped and has been assured that the baby is all right.
"Everything is fine . . . except . . ."
“Everything is fine – except for what we were talking about last night before I came in,” she says, “I don’t want us to separate!”
"Not now, Sara!'
Jason insists that this is not the time to discuss that.
"I was scared to tell him"
At APD, Kath admits to Dai that Dyff made her feel worthless, but he did not know that she was aware of his indiscretion.   “I was scared to tell him, in case he left me – I loved him!”
"Dyff was an idiot, and didn't deserve you"
Dai is blunt:  “With respect, Kath, Dyff was an idiot, and he didn’t deserve you.   You’re a kind woman, fun and gutsy!”
"I'm not that strong"
Kath points out she is not as gutsy as people think, and as they both know, she is not that strong.
"I hope it won't make you go back on the tablets"
“I hope reopening those old wounds from years ago won’t make you go back on the tablets,” Dai tells her, but she is adamant that she is not going to give in to that, and describes Dai as a good friend.
Kath is becoming amorous
“I’m not used to people being nice to me,” she says, and leans forward to kiss him, but he pushes her away.
"Sorry, Dai!"
She jumps up and rushes out of the shop.
"I shall be able to go home – if I'm welcome!"
Sara tells Jason she is just waiting for the doctor to authorise her to go home, “If I’m welcome!” she adds, “I see your point, yes I’m jealous and I go overboard, but it’s only because I love you – if anyone threatens our relationship, I go a bit nuts!”
"I love you too"
“There’s no reason to, because I love you too – there’s no need for you to be scared,” Jason assures her.
"Will you give me a second chance?"
She says that she needs to learn to trust him again and asks him to give her a second chance.   “I don’t know,” he answers,
"I think we'd be better off apart"
“I thought we’d sorted this out, but then the same thing happens time and time again.   I just think we’d be better off apart.”
She promises that she will change, but he points out, “You’ve promised that before, and look at us!”
"What if I apologise to Kelly and Vicky?"
She wants to prove it to him and composes apologetic texts to Kelly and Vicky about her behaviour.
"I just did not know what to say"
In the Deri, Gethin admits he did not know what to say when he was confronted by Sheryl; Cadno agrees that it is hard to know what comment to make,
"Some people don't draw attention to their illness"
and Anita bluntly comments, “Some people don’t draw attention to their illness!   Remember what Meic was like?”
"Where are you going?"
When Kath arrives back at Maes-y-Deri , Stacey’s bags are packed
"They need me back in London"
and she announces that she has to go back to London, giving the excuse that she has a big contract to sort out.
"Yes, it's about time I left here!"
Kath realises that Stacey is escaping from Cwmderi, and suggests that it is about time she left too.
"I never intended to stay for ever"
Mark is alarmed about this, but his mother tells him that she had never intended to stay for ever.   “It’s nothing to do with Non,” she assures them, “I don’t mind at all that you want to get to know her –
"It's time to move on"
“I just feel it’s time to move on, right?   I’ll go back to Birmingham.”
"Men expect to go bald"
The conversation in the Deri continues with Gethin stressing that men expect to go bald,
"I would feel naked without any hair!"
and Anita maintains she would feel naked if she had no hair.   Sheryl just happens to be behind her at this point, and takes exception to her remark.
"I can imagine worse things"
“I can imagine worse things,” she exclaims, “I’ve had enough of people discussing my hair – it’s all you talk about.   When will you realise that it’s just not important?”
She removes the wig
So saying, she removes her wig in front of them all,
"Start treating me like a normal person, please!"
adding, “Start treating me like a normal person, please!”
"Give me a lift to the station, Mark"
Kath wants Mark to take her to the station, as the train leaves at three.   Mark says he would rather never see Non again than for his mother to go back to Birmingham.
Stacey tries to dissuade her
Stacey interrupts, “Sitting alone in a dingy room would be a nightmare for you, and you’d be back on the pills!”   She also suspects that something else has happened that they do not know about.
"You'd rather be on your own?"
“So you’d rather be on your own than with your family” demands Mark, “After all we’ve been through and all I’ve done to help you?”
"Come to London with me, Mam!"
Stacey comes up with a comprise;  that Kath should go to London with her, and after a lot of vacillation Kath agrees.
"See – they've forgiven me"
Sara shows the texts she has received from Kelly and Vicky;  “If they can forgive me, do you think you can, too?” she pleads.
"It's hard for the leopard to change his spots"
He does not expect it to be easy, as they know how hard it is for the leopard to change his spots, and they need to work on things.
"Was I too rash, Hywel?"
Sheryl, at home, brushing her wig, asks Hywel, “Was I too rash, taking it off in front of everyone?”
He gives her his full support
but he supports her decision.   She does not regret doing it,
"People might expect me to walk around bald"
but, “People might expect me go walk around bald from now on.”   He considers that she has stopped them from talking about it now.
"Thanks for everything, Mark"
“Thanks for everything, Mark – I couldn’t have got through it without you!” says Kath,
The taxi is waiting outside
and Stacey is eager to go, as the taxi is waiting outside.   She reassures Mark that she will look after Mam.
Jason has cooked a meal
Jason has cooked a meal for Sara, and she takes the chain which they bought at Ayers Rock five years ago, and which she has never worn for fear of losing it.
Sara gives a precious chain to Jason
She wants Jason to wear it as a symbol that they are ‘starting over’,
"Let's focus on what's important"
and they will focus on what is important.
Kath espies Dai approaching
The taxi stops by the cashpoint, and while Stacey is using it, Kath calls to Dai, who happens to be passing.
"Non's not the problem . . ."
“I’m going to London with Stacey,” she says, “Mark thinks I can’t handle Non being around, but she’s not the problem.
". . . I can't trust myself when you're around!"
“I can’t trust myself when you’re around – you and Diane mean so much to me – I feel so ashamed.”
"You're some woman, Kath Jones!"
Dai promises he will not breathe a word to anyone, and remarks, “You’re some woman, Kath Jones!”   Stacey shouts to her mother,
Kath returns to the taxi . . .
who gets back in the taxi,
. . . and Dai watches her leave
and they drive away.
